The 36 Best Restaurants in Lisbon, Portugal | Eater

"Located in the touristy Belém neighbourhood, Michelin-starred Feitoria showcases the very best of Portugal’s produce from small, local producers. Chef André Cruz combines high-level techniques with traditional Portuguese flavors to craft an unforgettable dining experience, all while offering stunning views of the Tagus River. Standout dishes include cod with potato, mushroom, and parsley; Cruz’s take on cozido do mar (a seafood stew highlighting fresh coastal ingredients); and a traditional Sericaia dessert from the Alentejo region, made with eggs and served with herb ice cream and honey." - Rafael Tonon

Feitoria

"For many, Feitoria is a compulsory stop for visitors to the Portuguese capital, combining an intrinsic elegance with polished service and cuisine that is constantly evolving. It boasts an attractive reception space plus a dining room with a classic yet modern feel. The creative contemporary cuisine has its roots in tradition and pays full attention to flavours and perfect cooking techniques, hence a dining experience that showcases complicated presentation and skill. The ingredients used here are of a remarkable standard, hence the willingness to showcase these and explain their provenance in detail. The Semente tasting menu has a particular focus on vegetable proteins and is available in two formats (6 or 8 courses). A vegetarian version is also available." - Michelin Inspector

The Uncertain Future of Portuguese Food | Eater

"An award-winning Lisbon establishment whose chef launched a program to build relationships with small regional producers, this restaurant embodies efforts to strengthen local supply chains and protect specialized ingredients — initiatives that organizers warn are at risk if the tourism-driven ecosystem collapses." - Rafael Tonon

Google
Words can’t explain this amazing experience. Very good Michelin restaurant, with high respect for the Portuguese cuisine and in the same time elegant and balanced courses So happy that I’ve chose feitoria We enjoyed also from the wine paring that opened my mind for regions outside the Durou valley and in the same time told me the story of Portuguese wines. Also the cheese experience was great

I was looking forward to this meal from the time I was able to book a reservation. From the time I reserved, they were very responsive to my emails (and I had a lot of questions!). Kudos to whoever is working their emails. For me, the "dining" experience started at that point. I ordered the vegetarian option, and I did not miss the meat at all! My husband ordered the meat menu with wine pairing with his meal, which he truly enjoyed. The sommeliers and the servers were very attentive. My family of 4 dined in. The restaurant did have steak and fries for my 7 year old, which he devoured. Everyone in the restaurant was very attentive to us, even asking my son how he liked his meal. (He gave them a thumbs up, which says a lot) Oh, and icing on the cake -- we did a tour of the kitchen and got to meet Chef Andre Cruz and see his staff at work. What a wonderful sight! It makes me appreciate all the work put towards my meal. If you are able to dine here, please do it. You will not regret it.

Google
Absolutely phenomenal food and service. My friends and I spent closer to 5 hours getting through the courses than the expected 2.5-3, and we enjoyed it immensely.

Google
Detailed oriented and well travelled diners will enjoy this - a deliberate attempt to maximise local produce. The menu is a test of palette and technique - on both counts Feitoria came through on top. Service attentive and good wine selection. A great choice for a special night out.

Just a wonderful food experience delivered with amazing service from Ricardo and his team. The Portuguese wine pairing added to the whole evening enormously! Thanks to Pedro for sharing his expertise!

Google
Absolutely incredible experience, you must go if you are able. We did the full menu with wine pairings. I did vegetarian as I am not much of a fish eater (but do eat meat) and my husband did the fish meal. We both agree it was the best meal we've ever had. Staff is very attentive and the whole evening is so entertaining and fun. The meal took about 4 hours so be prepared for a marathon. But everything was SO SO worth it.

Google
Top of the line, Michelin starred restaurant by Chef André Cruz, with all you expect and more in a semi-dark setting, with lots of room. The food on the fixe prix menu is almost beyond belief and compare, though the chicken on the meat course was slightly overcooked. On the plus side, they shuffled to seat us even though Fork lost our reservation. On the downside, they couldn’t keep up the pace after the third course and items, including plates, were not cleared in a timely manner. The wine pairing is worth the price.

Google
A truly spectacular 1-Michelin star restaurant in Lisbon Portugal. This was by far the best experience in such a Michelin star restaurant with a fixed menu. The dishes were elaborate, very carefully prepared with huge attention to detail, and they succeeded, in my view, in expressing the intentions of each dish as each dish was described to us by the expert staff. Well worth experiencing! Thank you to all the Feitoria staff and chefs for a very pleasant evening and an unforgettable dinner.

Yelp
I still think about my dining experience here. It was one of the most memorable experience from our Europe trip. You feel like VIP in here, everyone attending to your needs and replacing your napkin every time you get up to leave the table. I've never ate flowers before, but this was an exception. It didn't even taste or feel like I was eating flowers! It blended so well with everything. Other Michelin restaurants don't get me full, but this course menu was filling! My favorite was the cod with black truffle and seafood stew. The dessert was an experience in itself with the smoking dry merengue. I even got to go back and meet Chef Andre Cruz! He was so nice and down to earth. I was nervous like meeting a celebrity I didn't even know haha. I can't wait to go back to make Portugal its own trip and try even more Michelin restaurants they have. Such an unforgettable experience and I'm glad we booked it as an our last dinner of our trip.

Yelp
Located in the Altis Belém Hotel & Spa, Restaurante Feitoria features the cooking of Chef João Rodrigues, a one-time aspiring Marine Biologist whose cooking is ingredient focused yet provocative across nine "moments" as guests look out at the river nearby. Currently awarded one-star by Michelin, and thus less crowded than centrally located Alma or Belcanto, it is upon entry that guests are led to tables with white linens while ambient music plays above modern decoration. Hard wood and well-spaced, clean lines with spotlighting placing the focus on plates often preceded by Ingredients or tableside preparation, it was alongside a glass of Bubbles that dinner began in seven bites called "Sharing," Barnacles a special treat while Hamachi atop Citrus, fried bites of Fish and scooped Sweet Potato with tangy Sauce were also memorable. Next offered housemade Bread flanked by two types of local Butter and Chef Rodrigues' signature Olive Oil, a temptation through to Dessert, course two featured Carrots and Tomatoes presented with elegance while its follow-up offered Tuna in three parts including a Tartare beneath Caviar and lightly grilled Heart. Presenting the next dish as a thought-provoker, the "white" of Broccoli Stems turned into a taste and texture akin to Bone Marrow via aging and steam pressure, "Garden" placed creamy Pumpkin in an aromatic Cheese Foam with great depth and balance. Again challenging convention with "Vegetable/Animal," a Squash Blossom stuffed with tiny Shrimp replacing the Cephalopod of a Squid, "Depth" steps back to pure product as the day's catch came perfectly cooked with a bit if Rice, Roe and Sauce. Modern, yet rooted in tradition, the final savory saw Pigeon carved tableside and plated with Mushrooms before two texturally compelling Fruit-based Desserts and a textbook Pastel de Nata that forms a fitting end to a meal that is Ingredient focused, innovative and bargain priced.

Yelp
Wow. What an amazing time at Feitoria last weekend. Was in town and made reservations for my boyfriend and I. From the minute we walked it, we knew we were in for something special. The decor was very posh and the whole dining room was set overlooking the water front. The small touches of fine dining (new napkins for every time you leave the table, stand for your purse) mixed with the very unique presentation and flavors of the dishes proved for an experience worthy of a Michelin Star. We went with the 6 course tasting menu without the beverage pairing. We started off with some palette cleansers, which felt more like an awakening of the senses. The goose barnacles were very interesting and tasty but my favorite was the tomato pastry puff. There were two more small dishes, a shrimp tempura of sorts and crab meat in a crab. On to the main courses. The tuna was delicious thought admittedly, hard to grab all the flavors in a single bit. The squid was absolutely delicious - perfectly grilled with just a hint of smoke. The scarlet shrimp was very fresh and was drenched in the juice from a table side press (super cool). The monkfish was absolutely amazing, as was the beef (which came with fresh shaved truffles on top). After another palette cleanser (this one a sorbet of sorts), we wrapped up the meal with a dessert similar to pastel de nata, and some yummy chocolates. Overall, a perfect dinner in a perfect city.

Yelp
Exquisite! I can honestly say that this the best dining experience I have ever had. The Michelin star they have is well deserved. I have dined at Eleven Madison and Jean Georges in New York and in my opinion Feitoria was the best of the three. Feitoria exceeded my expectations every course every time. My wife and I were celebrating our 39th anniversary and the staff did everything to make our night special but I noticed that every table received the same level of service and attention that we did. This is their level of service regardless of the occasion. Honestly this was the first Michelin star tasting menu that I actually walked away from satisfied and full. Although there were five courses listed, they kept coming out with off menu dishes and surprises. The wine paring was perfect. The only dish we did not like was the prawn dish in which they crushed the heads and poured the essence over the prawns, otherwise as I stated, it was the most perfect meal we have experienced. Lisbon is worth a return visit just for this restaurant.

Yelp
I booked this restaurant as a special occasion dinner for my husband's birthday. Online reservations were easy to come by, and the communication process via email was seamless, even when I had to change the reservation date. We were the first people at the restaurant on a Friday evening, and were brought waters and menus immediately. We settled for the five course menu, and had no complaints whatsoever - the food and service were exquisite. They also gave us a box of chocolates to take home, which I loved. The restaurant has a beautiful, minimal, yet sophisticated ambience, and overlooks the water in the Belem area of Lisbon. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
We had an amazing experience at Feitoria! The staff was incredible and so friendly. We got an amazing server, Sheena who made us feel at home and was open to allowing us to try random ingredients that were unique. We even got the opportunity to meet the chef in the kitchen at the end of our meal and thankfully it was almost the end of the night. Chef Andre Cruz is so sweet, genuine and has a unique talent to combine ingredients and bring out new flavors with combinations. I highly recommend this restaurant and to top it all off they have a vegetarian menu which was amazing! This was the perfect end to our trip to Portugal!!!

Yelp
We were so excited to try this tasting menu while in Lisbon, expecting it to be the highlight of the trip. However, we were quite disappointed by the end of our 4.5 hour dinner. We were the second table seated for the night and food was initially brought out at a reasonable pace. About halfway through, when more parties had been seated, we started having to wait 20-30 minutes in between courses, the last 3 courses taking 90 minutes in total. Our wines were brought out at non-sensical times--it was clear we had been forgotten multiple times. The food itself was fine, average for vegetarian tasting menu & above average for the main menu, but the service was so terrible we would not recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
SO GOOD! Loved having my birthday dinner here. The food is so well prepared and artistically presented, making it even more appetizing. The staff explain each dish and tell a whole story about it, which is a fun little added touch. Sometimes it comes off as a bit silly, like when they brought out an entire basket of oranges and lemons to demonstrate the quality of citrus they use, but honestly with food this delicious I can overlook that!

Yelp
I can sum this place up with a quote from the wise sage known as Yelp. "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" This was the second Michelin-starred establishment we experienced in Portugal but I can honestly say, this was, overall, our top culinary experience. You're paying top dollar here so you can expect a certain level of service. Service and ambiance are a given (you won't be disappointed). Showmanship- which is really not our thing- is thrown in as a freebie. All of that aside, the food here is the star of the show. Every single dish we had was creative, delectable, and presented in a way that heightened our expectation of the taste that followed (singularly difficult to achieve in our book)... It was, as they say, the perfect meal, complete with Portuguese wine pairings. Note: the meal will take 3+ hours for the larger tasting. Describing the food is useless- I can't do it justice. I'll just say, get comfortable and come hungry as all of your senses will be delighted.

Yelp
An absolutely stunning meal. I have eaten at roughly 100 Michelin 1* restaurants globally, and Feitoria and Chef Joao Rodriques have one of the best in their hands. I predict a second star* soon, as I shared with Chef. Each course was thoughtful and creative, with an excellent tableside presentation of fresh local ingredients, equipment, and technique. - the red prawn was shown whole and then cooked to perfect moisture and temp, after which the shells were squeezed in a duck press tableside to make the luscious extracted sauce - the bivalves course, too, was shown tableside in shell before being presented elegantly - cockle, mussel, razor clam. Yum. - the beef course, local North Portuguese beef, was unctuous and perfectly cooked, finished in a silky and unfair marrow sauce, etc, etc. Best meal I've had in a while. The lovely staff treated me such that I felt special and taken care of at an expert level. The somm and servers are great examples of how to do it right. And Chef Joao welcomed me tableside for my amuse drink and then again in the kitchen. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Michelin got this wrong. It should be "2 Stars" Our evening was magnificent from start to finish. The greeting, the attentive engagement from the staff, the lovely décor and lighting, the food, and wine all made for our favorite evening in Lisbon. We selected the longer tasting menu with wine pairings. We would recommend it to anyone--just don't ask us to pick a favorite course! We topped the evening off with vintage ports, which the sommelier selected for us only after asking if we had favorite vintages (1983 and 1994) which he supplied with enthusiasm. What a night to remember!

Yelp
Michelin worthy for sure. Still feel like it's weird to write a Yelp review for a Michelin restaurant but this was another restaurant/experience that ANYONE, into Michelin stars or not, could really make a beautiful palate memory out of and cherish for life. New Head Chef Andre Cruz (prior sous chef) just received a distinguished chef award at the end of 2022 because he is an up-and-coming chef. No one could be more deserving or enthusiastic. Every course was thoughtful, creative, and true to Portuguese roots. And the server of each course happily explained the relevance and symbolism of each course to Portuguese culture using all ingredients from within Portugal. You want TRUE farm-to-table? Flawless execution of flavors AND aesthetics? Genuine connection to the culture and flavors of Portugal? Come hang out with Chef Cruz. He will give you a personal tour of the kitchen and tell you his own inspiration for the amazing flavors and colors he puts on the plate (and on your palate). And he raises his own bees. Bonus points for actually living his gastronomic vision with integrity in his personal life. If you're in Lisbon, this is a CAN'T MISS experience.

Wonderful splurge meal. Everything was excellent from start to finish. Excellent and friendly service. One of our best meals in Lisbon.

Yelp
This restaurant has an amazing location, right by the monument of the explorers. By being such a touristy location, you may think it is overhyped touristy trap. But the food, service, decor, wine pairings w head for dinner definitely stood out. Chefs surprises to main courses were all excellent and their wine pairing was the best way to sample lot of Portuguese wines from all around the region. You definitely can see value here as well in comparison to US. Also easy to find uber/cab from here. They also adjusted the menu for our vegetarian friends and one person with shellfish allergy. They all were extremely happy with their meals: "best veggie substitution", "best sauce", "great texture" etc

Yelp
Work brought me to Lisbon for a couple of days. And as always before I head off anywhere I try and wrap at least a small finger around the landscape of cuisine in order to satisfy my desire for excellent food and new experiences. And being me, I had already made a table reservation for myself and my colleagues before we even left our home country border. Feitoria is one, out of only two, restaurants in Lisbon with a star in Guide Michelin. The establishment is from the point of view in decoration and ambiance absolutely flawless and breathes fine quality dining in every breath. Modern architecture and table decorations suitable either for colleagues looking for great food with casual conversations, friends celebrating an event of any kind or an intimate romantic dinner for two; it suits any occasion. From the moment of arrival we were all taken good care of and started off with some nice cocktails of various sorts in our company. The name of mine has since slipped my mind, but it's base was with gin, lemon along with a whole range of other ingredients that had my appetite only wishing for more. And on no account would I be disappointed of what where to come. I had already set my eyes and mind on the 5-course menu to really experience the restaurant at it's fullest. Surprisingly enough, the 5 course menu actually turned out into a beautiful 8-course journey. First up was a chef aperitif, a warm green asparagus soup with a roasted parmesan crisp. Absolutely amazing and packed with flavor. Then came chef aperitif no.2, a goat's cheese stuffed filo pastry roll with heirloom tomato salad and dried prosciutto. It was yum. After these two aperitifs then came the actual first course of my 5-course menu, namely foie gras served two ways. The first way was a lightly fried panko-crumb foie gras and the second was actually raw foie gras. They were served with different assortments of light dressing, herbs and even more goodies too tasty to remember. Second dish up next, the fish dish. This was a filet of sea bass, seared scallop, fresh small leaf salad served with a rich and succulent tomato sauce. The scallop was perfectly seared, shiny on the inside and great outside texture from the sear. Sea bass was flaky and moist with crispy skin. Those two wonderful pieces from the ocean with a rich tomato sauce that still didn't overpower the sea-flavors was perfectly balanced. Divine, to be honest. Seafood is followed by veal, and what a veal. Perfectly cooked. Accompanying the veal was a parsnip purée, creamed parsley, fried sweetbread and veal jus. It was wonderful. Then came the cheese platter with different cheeses I actually don't remember where they came from or their exact flavor more than they were all excellent. The plate also had some blackberries and fig chutney. Before the final dessert we were served a fresh and cool mint sorbet as a palate cleanser. The dessert itself had so many components that included a chocolate dome with a baked bottom, a sorbet on chocolate crumble, a cubed mango ice-cream topped with a dark chocolate circle and a perfect pink macaron with raspberry filling. Also on the plate were fresh raspberries with dried lime-leaves and to top it off a small creme brulee. Definitely one of the most well-composed and highly skilled desserts I've ever seen. How it tasted? Divine. Just, simply, divine. After this amazing meal we sat for a while longer, soaking up the atmosphere. When we finally left the restaurant late in the night we took a walk along the riverside with cool summer winds in our faces, utterly satisfied after a fantastic meal not to be lightly forgotten.

Yelp
Ahhmazing. I have eaten all over the world and this is an experience. I ordered a for course meal and it was a nine course meal. The chef is an artisan and I am glad my husband found it!

Yelp
My husband and I had dinner here while on our honeymoon, it made an already joyous time even more unforgettable. From the moment we walked in we could tell this was going to be a special meal. The staff was meticulously put together and combined probably spoke 10 languages (very impressive), and takes hospitality to the next level in my book. We were greeted in the waiting area with an assortment of aperitifs, we selected the Portuguese sparkling wine (amazing), after a few minutes we were escorted to our table spacious enough for four, but meant for two (another detail I appreciated, no cramped seating). From there a parade of some of the most wonderful morsels I've ever had the pleasure of eating. A few of the standouts: the prawn, the scallop with truffle, the faux tomato (actually tuna tartar), the seafood ravioli. Honestly I could probably list the entire meal under my favorite. Such a great experience and would love a round 2 next time we are in Lisbon.

Lauren O.

Yelp
The experience was exceptional - food was amazing (loved the Portugal in a cup and the squid). our wine recommendation was on point and the atmosphere and everything was incredible. Would highly recommend for a international but truly Portuguese meal.

Linda F.

Yelp
We decided to treat ourselves on a recent trip to Lisbon and were not disappointed. Very attentive and informative hospitality. Presentation was very special, if a bit on the precious side. Not much selection (basically a cod and a beef ("national cow") main course) but oh, the food can't be beat. Many extras (three pre-amuse bouche items, two pre-dessert). A Very Special Meal.
