The Best Restaurants In Roma, Mexico City 2024

"Noodles are the focus at this newish spot from a chef whose grandfather invented one of Mexico’s most coveted snacks, cacahuates Japoneses, or Japanese peanuts. Following this family tradition, Fideo Gordo fuses traditional Mexican flavors with well-executed Asian dishes. The lamb obi udon—which mixes barbacoa with serrano chiles and handmade udon noodles—is a standout on the focused menu. Don’t just stick to noodles, though: the make-your-own tuna and kampachi taquito is a perfect appetizer." - guillaume guevara

How Chefs in Mexico Are Inspired by Japanese Flavors | Eater

"An udon bar in the Roma neighborhood conceived by the grandson of the creators of cacahuate japoneses, designed to evoke his grandparents’ kitschy living room while showcasing a range of bowls that span from traditional Japanese styles to inventive Mexican-Japanese hybrids. Offerings can include classic udon and ramen preparations as well as bowls featuring lamb and consomé de barbacoa; the chef also prepares fresh ramen with salsa verde and experiments with seafood paired with somen, lime dashi and jalapeños. The operation embodies a family legacy of Japanese influence on Mexican snacking and a deliberate, playful fusion of both culinary vocabularies." - Nili Blanck

What a great place! The food is very unique and combines Asian and Mexican flavors. We enjoyed gyoza with salsa matcha, chicken katsu fried in pork fat and crusted in chili-lime with a sweet/spicy cucumber sauce, and wide noodles with spicy tamarind sauce, vegetables, and tofu. The blend of different cuisines felt natural and well conceived. The Paloma cocktail my wife had was just ok. Service was very warm and helpful and I loved the music choices by the owner, played from a vinyl collection! Great vibe, overall. If you are in the mood for something beyond tacos and typical Mexican cuisine, this is a great choice!

Best noodles I have had in Mexico City. Went on a slow night so service was great. Chosu was nice, as well as the tamarindo. Tamarindo had almost too much flavor but again the noodles are just so good. Con: it's very expensive

Serious udon kishimen restaurant. The tempura udon broth is incredibly balanced, also sushi temaki box was so fresh and delicious.

Amazing biang biang and udon noodles with a Mexican twist. I absolutely loved this fusion. Highly recommend, especially if you're craving something that's not solely Mexican but still want to take advantage of being in Mexico. This was a highlight of our trip to CDMX and high on our list of recommendations for friends.

We ordered several things to share and everything was absolutely delicious. Even though it was very busy the service was excellent. The waiter was amazing and very mindful of my allergies.
