"Corey Hughes and his team opened Fig & Ash in 2020 and today the handsome restaurant is an anchor of the revived Northside. Go here for vegetable-focused small plates and spins on traditional dishes — peach Caprese salad, summer squash crab cakes. Meaty mains feed a crowd, with items like short rib and pork belly meatloaf and a formidable pork shank." - Melissa McCart, Hal B. Klein

Went with a friend for an impromptu dinner. Cozy atmosphere and a small but delicious menus. We started with the Brussels sprouts. Then, based on our server’s recommendation tried the meatloaf and scallops with risotto. Both were wonderful. Finished with the olive oil cake.

We arrived early and had a drink at the bar before dinner, they have a nice bourbon selection and the bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly. We were able to move to our table without closing our bar check which some places can't figure out in 2025. The food menu is purposefully small, but it had a good variety and we were pleased with everything we had. Portions are large, my wife and I were able to share, and had leftovers to take home. We will definitely be back.

Google
Had a lovely anniversary dinner here. Beautiful environment for small gatherings or date. Really good service and friendly servers, you can tell they love their jobs. Seasonal menu but if given the chance we recommend the heirloom carrots, pea risotto with lamb and definitely a basil cocktail. Almost five stars it's just a little hard with the price for couples on a budget but it is gourmet dining.

Google
The staff was so amazing and engaging BUT I ordered bone marrow that had zero marrow - it was a bone with cold jam on the side. Very odd. The food sounded great in the menu but once it arrived everything we ordered was average. Here in the picture you can see great presentation and good jam portion with zero marrow.

Google
Really great dining experience. Tried a number of dishes but my personal favourite was the meatloaf. Perfectly balanced in terms of favour and feel. The Brussel sprouts were also amazing. Tip top wine recommendations from the bar staff also. Would definitely visit again the next time I’m in Pittsburgh.

Google
Limited menu, but everything was delicious. Drinks were ok. Pork belly appetizer and mushroom pasta were the highlights for me.

Google
I had the Confit Pork Shank. The best ever. Period. The staff including owner were very friendly. Reservation is a must. Next time I visit Pittsburgh, this restaurant is going to be on my to do list for sure.

There's a lot of things to love about fig & ash; it's got a fun atmosphere, great service, and good food. The attentiveness of the staff was particularly a highlight -- different dishes and utensils for each part of the meal showed an attentiveness to the experience. The food is inventive on simple themes, which we loved (but also felt like it didn't hit on some things). Overall, it was a great experience, but I think for what it was, the price is just a little too high (and thus the 4 stars instead of 5). Specifically, some of the food pairings were a little off, and the environment is a bit cluttered. Nothing bad for a slightly less expensive restaurant, but at this price point it's a 4/5 for me.

Yelp
I came here recently for a business dinner in their downstairs banquet room. What a wonderful experience! When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff member, who showed us to the space. The seating and table were very comfortable, and the space itself is very private, with easy access to restrooms downstairs, making this a very practical place to host a banquet of this sort - 10 to 15 people. The beverage menu is excellent, and they have an exquisite assortment of craft cocktails, spirits, and non-alcoholic cocktail choices. Given that it was a work night, I had the non-alcoholic "This Is Fine" cocktail, which was delicious - it's based on Earl Grey, tea, bitters, spiced saline, and sherry vinegar syrup, presented in a smoked glass with a large square ice cube. It was wonderful. As you might imagine, the real star of the show is their menu we dined family style, which was an excellent way to sample many of their delicious dishes : the apple and beet salad, the superb, heirloom, carrots, the delicious mushroom, and gemelli pasta, the astounding confit pork, shank, and the mouth watering pork belly, meatloaf, were the selections of the night. Honestly, I would have a very hard time picking just one dish after trying all of these delicious ones family style. Each of them was flavorful and well prepared, although I tend to prefer my pasta a little less "al dente" than most people. I'm sure that had. I've been ordering this for just myself, establishment would have been very accommodating, since their staff are so friendly and accommodating. I don't usually venture to the North Shore often, but this place has changed my mind, and I shall be bringing my family here very soon to enjoy their hospitality and food once more. Will definitely be back!!!

Yelp
Let me start by saying I give this place 4.5 stars. I went here with my girlfriends to celebrate a friend's birthday. I had been once before, but this was a first time for my two friends right off the bat. They absolutely love the entire atmosphere inside. It has such a cool and trendy vibe, but also a feeling of warm and cozy. Our server was so incredibly personable. He knew we were there for her birthday and wished my friend happy birthday immediately. He also helped guide us in our menu selections. My two friends put a bottle of wine, and I went with the nutty Professor cocktail, which is their version of an old-fashioned. It was absolutely delicious and came with a peanut butter brittle stuck to the side of the glass. For our appetizers, we did the carrots, brussels sprouts and crabcake. Each one was better than the next. They are known for their carrots and as someone who is not a big cooked carrots fan, I absolutely loved them. I went with the tomato pesto spaghetti with grilled shrimp for my entrée. They make all of their pastas in house, and you can definitely tell based on the taste and texture. One of my friends had the Gemelli pasta and the other one had the meatloaf. The meatloaf is another signature dish. My entree was just okay but I think the gemelli pasta and the meatloaf were top notch. Since we were celebrating our birthday, we went all in for desserts. We tried the olive oil cake and the cast iron skillet. Kahlúa brownie Alamode. They were both exceptional. This is a pricier place, but it is a great restaurant for celebrating a special occasion!

Yelp
My first visit was a good experience. The crab cake was worth it. Very minimal with a high quality of protein. The dish was something I would make at home with the same ingredients. I liked the squash/shallot pickle, however, it felt a bit rushed. I make a lot of pickled items and I think they are better after a day or so. The rabbit pot pie was great, although very British with lots of peas. The one piece of potato made me smile. The cornbread was quite dry but the butter made it more enjoyable with the salt and sugar sprinkle. The seating is sparse. It's more suited for a 4 top than a 2 top unless you are at the bar where you can look at the chefs as they cook. We came on a walk in and we were seated in the middle of the room. We asked for a different table and it was fine. This neighborhood is changing and I will definitely return. I hope that this business will succeed.

Yelp
I'd rate Fig & Ash four and a half stars. We walked in as soon as they opened for dinner on Saturday at 5 pm and were able to grab a couple of the eight bar seats available for walk-ins. Reservations are recommended. Full bar that focuses on craft cocktails. They have four craft beers on draft. Big selection of whiskeys with some great picks; however, the whiskeys are pricey with some pours going for 50% and more of full bottle costs. The bartenders were very knowledgeable and engaging. I shared a milky mezcal cocktail with my wife. It was smokey and fit in perfectly for the fall. For food, we started with roasted carrots and the brussel sprouts. The carrots had a firm yet tender texture. They were served over ricotta adding a creaminess to the dish. The brussel sprouts were served with blue cheese and two different sauces. They came out perfectly crispy with a nice char. The blue cheese wasn't too pronounced in the dish which I appreciated. The highlight of the dish were the two sauces. One was a curry aioli and the other was a cherry gastrique. Together, they formed a sweet and Smokey balance reminiscent of a high quality BBQ sauce. For dessert, we shared the cast iron brownie. Crispy on the outside with a very moist interior. Pretty balanced on the spectrum from cakey to fudgy. Pacing of the food was nice. The kitchen was surrounded in glass, so you could see the chefs in action. There were two single occupancy restrooms; the one I used was handicap accessible.

Yelp
I heard way too many good things about this place thinking how could it all be true. And it was all true. This was the best meal I've ever had in Pittsburgh. I can't wait to come back in the summer to try that seasonal menu.

Angela M.

Yelp
Wow! What a place. I've been dying to come here for some time now and so glad I finally made reservations and went. From the moment you sat down the start was super friendly and attentive (literally never let me water glass go below half empty lol). The cocktails were delicious, super well balanced. My friend had the mocktail and said it was great too! We decided to split a few dishes and I'm happy we did so I could try a bunch of their plates. We started off with the heirloom carrots, one of their staples and that was great. The whipped ricotta was delicious. The bone marrow mid course place was huge and super filling. Super tasty with the bacon and onion jam and shishito peppers. The gemelli made with local mushrooms, cream sauce and a poached egg was a showstopper. All these dishes were amazing and I'm already planning my next trip back.

Heather L.

Yelp
Got a last minute reservation here as it was right down the street from our Airbnb. Staff was attentive and we had great seats at the counter, love the open kitchen. Food was fantastic, loved the pot pie and meatloaf.

Katelin D.

Yelp
Fig & Ash will always be a top 3 restaurant in pittsburgh for me! The ambiance, the service, the quality of food and presentation. The menu did lack a chicken dish but I am a sucker for a plate full of mushrooms! I appreciate their dedication to serving local when and where possible and rotate their menu with the seasons. I chose fig and ash for my birthday dinner this year and my husband already can't wait to return.

Mike B.

Yelp
Really nice, comfortable space with a nice range of good food options. The staff were all fantastic, and the food was well presented. Most of the vegetable-centric options were in the small plates section of the menu, but that worked for me. Just note that the small plates aren't actually all that small: I ordered two, and probably only needed one. My biggest complaint was the general noise level: it's a relatively small place packed with people, so it was somewhat difficult to engage in conversation. My voice was pretty scratchy by the end of the night. In terms of the food, I appreciated the number of vegetable-centric dishes. The ancient grain salad was exactly what I wanted it to be, with a reasonable portion and several different layers of flavor and texture. The roasted cauliflower dish was only very lightly roasted, which was fine but it felt like a more significant roast would have enhanced the experience. A slightly heavier hand with the spiced yogurt and chimicurri could have helped as well. Still a great place, but a step back from life-changing experience. The beverage list was also nice, with several different local beers representing a few different styles. It wasn't exactly a long beer list, but I'm all for a smaller number of fresher kegs, if that what makes sense for the restaurant.

Yelp
I attended a work dinner here and was sadly underwhelmed. The staff were very attentive, so five stars for service. The vibe was also ok except for the occasional fruit fly buzzing our table and the intermittent smell of the dishwasher doing its thing wafting through the dining area. I asked the waitstaff about vegan options and they provided me with a menu that identified dishes that could be made vegan by redacting the meat, dairy, and egg components. We had the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer (crème on the side) which were tasty. The carrots were also ordered and looked good on their bed of ricotta--they got high marks from my colleagues. I ordered a mushroom pasta dish sans the meat and egg parts and what I received was a bowl of pasta with a few tomatoes and spinach leaves and no mushrooms. It was salty and disappointing. My colleague ordered the same dish in its original form and it had copious shrooms plus the meat and egg parts. He shared that it was overly rich and buttery. Members of the staff apologized about there not being any shrooms in my shrooms pasta dish, explaining that they prepare the ingredients ahead of time and the mushrooms are coated in butter (ironic). They didn't redact the shrooms on the menu --I would not have ordered it if they had. The other folks weren't impressed with their entrees either: the meatloaf and potatoes were dry and the stuffed Branzini was somehow sweet instead of savory. Overall, not a great visit. They would do well to include more plant-based options on the main menu or at least be prepared for impromptu dietary requests. To end on a high note, I appreciated their gender inclusive bathrooms!

Yelp
My time here was AWFUL! When I first arrived at this so-called "fine" establishment, a young child, about 6 years old, started to rub my inner thigh uncontrollably. Then, the apparent MOTHER of this young gentleman decided to yell at ME! For her child attempting to massage me! Once that situation was figured out, the waiter called me a creep and nearly REFUSED to serve me! I had to get a new waiter who would believe me, and when I got the food, it had a RAT in it. Not a piece of a rat, an ENTIRE rat in the food! When I told the manager about this, he said that's what CREEPS deserve to eat!!!! So, me and my friend, Anita Hanjob, decided we were DONE with this TERRIBLE, FOUL, DISGUSTING ESTABLISHMENT. DO. NOT. EAT. HERE.

Hannah G.

Yelp
We came here for the first time for a date night. We've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got to! The ambiance is wonderful! The service was attentive and quick but not too fast that we felt rushed. We ordered some cocktails and they were fabulous and creative! We ordered the mushroom Bruschetta and cauliflower with ramp Chimichurri. Both were excellent and fantastic starters to share. For our mains we ordered the meatloaf and lamb. Both dishes were delicious but the meatloaf was truly a standout! We finished off dinner with the brownie and ice cream. The brownie was amazing! Warm and perfectly gooey. The best way to end off a date night! We will definitely be back and hope to bring some friends and family!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night for my wife's birthday. Cozy space with clean and well-presented decor. Would recommend reservations as the place can get busier on the weekends. Our waiter Eli was very attentive and great with recommendations. It felt like the entire staff at this restaurant would be constantly checking up on you, refilling your water, asking how the food came out. Definitely not in an intrusive way and it felt like they actually cared about your dining experience with them. The food was top notch and we loved everything we ordered. Brussel sprouts were very unique and delicious. The lamb pasta was made in-house and you could tell by the great quality. Steak was also great. Finished with the fudge dessert that they are known for and it was absolutely delicious. Excellent dining experience overall and we will definitely be back.

Yelp
So many folks told me to try Fig and Ash, and I went this summer (sorry, for the late review). It was worth the hype! I loved sitting outside on their cozy patio with some friends. Inside had a fun modern vibe! Now for the food - we tried a watermelon salad, a beet salad, lobster pasta, and carrots. The veggie dishes were fresh, light, and big flavor. I personally loved the beets. The roasted carrots were good, but not Poulet Bleu or Meat and Potatoes-level good. Lobster pasta was fantastic. This would be a great entree. My main meal was the meatloaf, and it was phenomenal. Juicy, soft, and packed with flavor. I also loved the homemade ketchup (bold move considering, you know, Pittsburgh). I would definitely order this again. Menus are seasonal, so a return is necessary! Great drink menu, too!

Yelp
Fig & Ash is a cute little spot tucked away in Pittsburgh's North Side neighborhood. The inside ambiance is very cozy & the outside dining area is green & private. When it comes to the food, Fig & Ash definitely excels in their small plates. They're the perfect sizes for sharing & all delicious! We got the heirloom carrots (a menu staple & soooo good & smoky) & the Moroccan bread pudding (filled with warm spices). The crab cake small plate is actually the right size to be an entree, so we tried that as well for a main course! I got the swordfish entree which was good, but not as good/inventive as the small plates (the other entrees read similarly that that may be the case for them as well). The cocktail menu is inventive & always changing, and we both enjoyed our summery drinks! The wine list is also great & has a good variety for by the glass wines, and our server was great with recommendations. I would definitely recommend this spot for drinks/small plates to share - especially since the menu is at a really reasonable price point! Food: B+ Drinks: A- Service: A- Ambiance: B+

Yelp
I've been to Fig & Ash a few times and have always had great experiences. The food is always delicious & they have great cocktails. This is a great spot for sharing many appetizers. Some dishes I've had in the past are the heirloom carrots (always a favorite), fig & burrata salad, mussels and polenta. In my most recent visit, we had to make our reservation in the outdoor (claims to be four season) seating. It was about 45 degrees outside & of course, we were expecting to be a little chilly but nothing like this. It was SO cold. I wouldn't be so bothered by it if they didn't claim for it to be four season seating. We asked our server if they could turn on the fireplace that was next to us but he said he didn't know how and that was the end of it. The food was also not as great as I have had in the past. We ordered the roasted pear and it was very bland and cold. The carrots & broccolini were very good. My husband and I also split the salmon entree and it was delicious. Our friends ordered the meatloaf and it was very, very fatty. The desserts we ordered were quite good - the cast iron cookie and carrot cake. We got the smores but I could've done without it, not really what I was expecting. Overall I'm just hoping this was an off night with the food as I've definitely had better experiences there. And now I know not to book the outdoor seating, regardless if it's "four seasons!"

Luke R.

Yelp
Solid meal. The place seems to be caught between trying to be fine dining and being a neighborhood hip restaurant. The crab cake was well cooked and tasty. The mushroom gemelli was a tad under seasoned. Great service and good beer selection.

Sean F.

Yelp
We went on the weekend and it was good. We started with the Heirloom carrots. They were delicious. My wife had the meatloaf for dinner and I had the pork shank. We thought they were good. The service was outstanding. It is cool place.

Colin M.

Yelp
We've been meaning to try out Fig & Ash for a long time and finally stopped in for an anniversary dinner with a reservation to sit outside. They have a tremendous wait staff that were buzzing keeping our water glasses full, the area dry with a rainstorm rolling through and our empty plates removed. As far as the food goes, we started with a spring salad and a mushroom bruschetta, the latter of which was the star of the evening. Our entrees were a bit of a disappointment as we split the spaghetti and the meatloaf. The spaghetti came with a seafood cream base and several pieces of crab and shrimp. Everything was well prepared but the flavors were a bit lacking for both of us. The meatloaf came with a kale puree and carrots and everything was soooop salty. I have a high tolerance for salt but for all 3, it was the overwhelming tasting note. For dessert, I had a fig cocktail that was great but the brownie was a letdown. It's technically a fudge brownie but it was essentially just hot brownie batter - none of it was set at all and not what I'd expect or want in with a cast iron dessert.

Yelp
Great food great service. Thank you we enjoyed. Great ambience atmosphere. Great selection great food prices very nice. Employees, clean restaurant.

Halie G.

Yelp
Had dinner last night at @figandashpgh . Love, love, love. Upmarket choice executing modern American cuisine in a calm environment. Reservations are required- so be sure to plan ahead! Sat on their cozy patio & enjoyed our meals! 10/10 recommend their carrots as an app- so tasty ! Had the Risotto which was very flavorful, and the Pork Chops that was so good & melted in your mouth! Cannot believe this was my first time there!!! Can't wait to head back and explore more of their menu!

John O.

Yelp
Great place Kinda of hidden away! Sneaky to think how nice it is Staff were great, food was excellent Very small menu but the selections Where perfect! Would come back ! Compliments to the chef

Jameson M.

Yelp
I love it the best restaurant I have ever had the food delicious yummmy how else do I say it our waiter very kind thank you for the food and service prayers

Bud H.

Yelp
The ambience is wonderful, the food is outstanding! The service is friendly. This is the perfect definition of "quaint". A great place to go on a special occasion.

Steven H.

Yelp
This place has reputation for being among the best restaurants in the region. From my experience eating here on 2 occasions, this reputation is well earned. When you eat here, expect to receive exceptional service from a staff of true dining professionals. Both times I went, I ordered the meatloaf which is made with a blend of short rib and pork belly. I've tried some of the different small plates and sides, and they are all delicious in different ways. I also really enjoyed one of the mocktails, and I appreciate that they actually had a nice little selection of these to choose from. While the restaurant is not in the most upscale location, the interior is superbly decorated and offers a pleasant atmosphere for enjoying your meal. They have an outdoor patio area, though I've never sat out there. My favorite seats in the house are at the counter where you can watch the magic happen in the semi open kitchen through the glass barrier. Something about watching the meal be cooked right in front of me adds a lot to the experience.

Jess N.

Yelp
Fig & Ash has been amazing since they opened and continue that today. The ambiance is a 20/10. The service, always outstanding! no matter where you sit in this place it's a good seat, and a food meal. Fig & Ash has the world's ONLY meatloaf I will eat as well as the BEST carrots. The gemelli is hands down My favorite thing I've gotten here & hope one day for that to return!

Lisa K.

Yelp
No reservations, so happily sat at the bar. Great cocktail menu, but beers were almost all (maybe all?) IPAs. I chose the Ranch Water cocktail - a little kick, just what I like. We shared the roasted cauliflower appetizer, which again had a kick and I would highly recommend. The meatloaf was to die for, and the gemelli pasta with lobster was also something I would choose again. Baklava cheesecake was good, but I would skip next time. I liked the atmosphere and the staff was highly professional.

Kayla R.

Yelp
Outstanding food and service! We started with the peach caprese salad 10/10 the balsamic vinaigrette was outstanding then went onto the swordfish and meatloaf absolutely beautiful we finished with the peach cobbler OMG amazing. Very cozy modern interior.

Molly H.

Yelp
Fig & Ash is such a lovely place for a date night, a girls night, a birthday, an anniversary, or just a few drinks and desserts! I've visited three times over the last few years and every visit resulted in extremely yummy and interesting meals. Their menu changes along with the seasons, and their ingredients are so inventive and playful. It's elegant but not stuffy, cozy but modern, and the service is always friendly and attentive. I especially recommend their pastas and their seared meats, since they hand cut their noodles and their meatier entrees are always unique and not what one might expect. Their small plates are always so flavorful and fun - I tried their moroccan savory bread pudding on my last visit, and it was so delicious and unlike anything I've tried in the Pittsburgh area as an appetizer. I've yet to dine on their outside patio but I intend to do so in the near future, hopefully! I strongly recommend checking out Fig & Ash ASAP!

Alicia O.

Yelp
Some of the best food I've had this far in pittsburgh. I was pleasantly surprised. It's a medium size page with a great location near the stadium. Drinks were varied. Bar service was quick. Food was hot and fresh. I love farm to table. Great for groups. Get the pretzel. Will definitely be back.

Kaylie W.

Yelp
Found this restaurant when looking for new places, gave me a wonderful surprise. Service was friendly, atmosphere was cozy--came for a late dinner but the restaurant was still lively. [Heirloom Carrots] Food was the main reason for the surprise. Even the simplest items had a complex taste palette. The waiter recommended we try their trademark dishes--the carrots and the meatloaf. The carrots were buttery, grilled to be crispy with a soft center, and paired with honey whipped ricotta and nuts. I really enjoyed the ricotta and nuts, absolutely delicious. We ate it so fast that neither remember to take a photo. [Short Rib and Pork Belly Meatloaf] I am usually not a meatloaf person, but this one was well made. Was juicy and a good ratio of lean and fat. I don't like meatloaf because it tends to be dry and flavorless, but somehow they avoided all these faults. [Double Cut Pork Chop] I actually like this entree more than the meatloaf. Maybe because I still think meatloaf is a bit boring lol. But the pork chop was very interesting, had a peach sauce so the dish wasn't too heavy to eat. Pork chop was grilled nicely, maintaining tenderness and juiciness. I really liked the mustard vinaigrette on the side potatoes. I'm not a huge starch fan but I finished every bit of the potatoes because it was so good. Weirdly fits my Asian taste palette because I found there were some touches that reminded me of Asian cuisine--escarole, the sour peach sauce (like plum sauce on duck 酸梅酱). [Meet Me at Midnight] I personally felt the drinks weren't as phenomenal as the food. Nothing bad, but nothing out of the ball park. Maybe because the food was so good and original, it's hard to follow up. I found this cocktail to be not what I expected, was hoping for something closer to St. Germain, but tasted mostly the gin. Also not as aesthetic as I was hoping, but reasonably dark purple/blue colored as the name implies.

Maggie G.

Yelp
Came for the delicious food. Both of us daughter the flu from the MAGA regular sitting at the bar. The bartender was an excellent server. When the person next to us and his wife kept coughing. Since we both have elderly parents, we left quickly. My husband caught it first because he was taking to the man who bragged about not being vaccinated among other nonsense.

Pat D.

Yelp
Going to keep this simple- Fig and Ash is outstanding. It's a top you-name-it restaurant in Pittsburgh. Everything from the appetizers to the drinks are next-level, carefully curated delicacies with sophisticated and complicated flavor profiles. I'll give a bit of a description on everything we ordered. The heirloom carrots are their best-selling item and for good reason. They're perfectly flavored and seared, with the taste of fingerling potatoes, but the consistency of cooked carrot. The honey whipped ricotta complimented the carrot wonderfully. A fine portion size for $15 as well. Next up, the double cut pork chop. It has an exceptional char on the outside and the cut itself is savory and juicy. I loved the pomegranate bbq it was topped with, as it sweetened the fatty and salty cut. Please don't forget to get all that good meat around and in-between the bones! The meatloaf took me to an ethereal place where I reminisced about comfort food from home and then got hit with an intense and satisfying taste on my palate. The short rib and pork belly kept it moist and tender, and every bite was beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed the kale and was pleasantly surprised by a sweet kick instead of the typical bitterness. As for cocktails, I believe we got seasonal ones not on the online menu and unfortunately I forgot the names. But, I can say the ingredients are portioned and mixed so very well. They're thoughtfully crafted to where every sip is a delight. For an appetizer, two entrees, and three cocktails, $165 after tip probably isn't something to do all the time, but we left blissfully full and happy. Thanks for a great meal, Fig and Ash!

Yelp
Made reservations to try this gem of a restaurant before heading to a concert. Tucked away in a small neighborhood, this will probably be my favorite restaurant of the year. My old fashion cocktail was spot on. The menu was fresh and eclectic. Started with the carrot appetizer. Amazing!I had a difficult time choosing my entree. Ended up with homemade pasta with mushrooms and I was not disappointed. Serving portions were generous and wait staff was excellent. Perfect place for me.

Bob C.

Yelp
The restaurant made a recent date night very enjoyable! All around the restaurant is high quality. I enjoyed the menu as it had unique and tasty flavors in their dishes. The food choices took popular food and enhanced it. The cocktail and wine menu was excellent! If you are one for floral cocktails I would highly recommend.

Mallory W.

Yelp
Oh man, this was good. The restaurant has a great ambiance and friendly staff, but let's get to the good part, the food: Roasted Brussels Sprouts: I could have devoured the whole plate of these. Unfortunately my husband insisted on eating half. The description mentioned gochujang, which neither of us could taste, but these were amazing. Short Rib and Pork Belly Meatloaf: I found this dish a little underwhelming. It was okay, but sort of just tasted like regular meatloaf, and a bit too salty. Flat Iron Steak: Cooked beautifully. Great steak, great sauce, great fingerling potatoes. Cast Iron Kahlua Fudge Brownie: I mean, it's a brownie and a scoop of ice cream. What's not to like? Some parts of it had a bit too much sea salt sprinkled on, but others were perfect. Man! Do I Love a Spritz!: As a pregnant woman, I appreciated the creative nonalcoholic cocktail menu. I think other preggos must too, because I spotted two other baby bumps while there. This drink was light, fresh, slightly fruity, and not too sweet. New Year, New You: My husband got this one, and to be honest, I thought it was vile. He, on the other hand, quite enjoyed it, so I can't knock it.

Yelp
In a word: meh. We've been to Fig & Ash before, and it was excellent (which is why we went back there tonight). The small plates were all good - although the number of Brussels sprouts on the plate could have been greater. The meatloaf was good, but not great. Ditto the salmon. Overall, the food just wasn't as good as last time (but everything was plated beautifully). The service was....uneven. It was late and someone at our table was getting hangry, so I asked for 3 specific small plates to hold us over while we decided on entrees. Simple request, right? But, no, that isn't how they do it - they put the whole order in at one time to make it easier on the kitchen. I pushed back and asked if the goal shouldn't be to make it easier for the customer. No. Period. "It's not going to happen." We felt reprimanded, and we had to rush and decide on entree choices, if we wanted to be permitted to order. Note to management and server Kirstin: I'm the customer; I'll order what I want, when I want. The bill came to $250, and that was without any drinks. Between the unimpressive food, the cost, and the disappointing service, Fig @ Ash was a big let down. As I said, "meh."

Yelp
My husband and I were at the restaurant last evening 7/11/24, for a wedding anniversary. The food itself was good but not overwhelming. The portion sizes were incredibly small. We also did not like the fact that the menu was very very limited. I had the spaghetti dish, with seafood. It was served in a very large bowl but I don't think there was a cup of pasta at the bottom. It was good but I was still hungry after I got done eating. Once the restaurant filled up as the evening went along, you couldn't hear each other talk across the table. This restaurant has changed quite a bit. We were there a couple years ago for my birthday and it was wonderful. Plenty of food. Great selection. It has changed quite a bit and not for the good. Yelp
Disappointing to say the least. The pork belly isn't pork belly. It was a different cut of meat. I couldn't even cut it with a sharp knife. One piece was hard as a rock and the next piece was pure fat- no meat at all. I kept chewing and finally realized and had to spit it out. The carrots were average at best. I am shocked they didn't have a house bourbon drink on the menu.... Only hot ones on the after dinner drinks. Average atmosphere and service.

Yelp
Great food and wonderful service. The ambiance is warm and inviting. We had the carrots, eggplant bruschetta and filet mignon and everything was delicious. The cocktails were a bit dull but the food more than made up for it. Highly recommend for a night out!

Yelp
We picked this restaurant because it was recommended by a newspaper critic. It has a seasonal menu that changes regularly depending on what is available. For the price and the hype I expected beautiful and delicious food with competent service and a full and creative bar. The bar appeared to live up to the prediction -- we don't order fancy cocktails, so can't testify to their quality. The food was very good. The crab cake and beet with curried goat cheese starters stood out. Sadly, the main course was not worth a photo. My spaghetti with shrimp was well prepared with a special shout out for the fresh sliced and mildly hot peppers in the sauce, but otherwise unremarkable. My wife had mushrooms on cavatelli. The pasta was hand made and perfectly cooked. The soft poached egg that came with it was a quirky and, likely, authentic addition that you don't typically see. Respect for the nod to regional Italian cooking. It takes talent to crank out consistently good seasonal fair and, perhaps, if we lived here, we'd come again. But... the decor from a designers catalog was too cute and would be annoying after a second visit. The service was overly attentive. It's nice to be asked how the food is, but not by three or four people after each course.

Yelp
While not in the best area, there is a parking lot right behind the restaurant that is next to a large PNC bank. While it's not the first place that I would go on a stroll after dinner, the parking situation is safe. Food was all incredible and served efficiently. The staff touched our table and checked on us multiple times. Favorites were the carrots and watermelon salad, must orders. Everything was fantastic but those two stood out the most. You can tell the watermelon is marinated and it is so flavorful and im not even a big watermelon fan! Definitely coming back to try the fall menu!

Yelp
Had an awesome dinner here. Drinks are amazing, ambiance is super cute, and food is overall pretty solid. Flatbread was insanely good - probably my favorite of the night. Other dishes tend to be on the saltier side, the carrot was a bit too salty for me to enjoy, so I asked lamb pasta to be light on salt but it was still pretty intense (but tolerable). Mussel was super fresh and tender and juicy, delicious. Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Great staff and great food. Fun place. The owners Cory and Alex are always there and are so friendly and easy to talk too. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Interesting place. Drinks were very good and made with care from bartender Niko. Menu is seasonal and rotating. A solid variation of vegetables included! According to staff, the carrots were customers favorite; kind of plain to be honest. Skip them. DO get the pumpkin risotto, which' should be renamed fall in a dish. Just so cozy and great to share. Meatloaf was good, definitely made in-house regularly. It was paired with cauliflower mash and snap peas. Oh skip the desserts too - kind of boring. The staff really helped the experience. Justin was a great server!

Yelp
Oh man. This place is BEAUTIFUL both inside and in their garden space. I only came here for a drink, but I was blown away by just how gorgeous this space was and how fancy it was without being stuff or uptight. I only had one drink here but was really impressed by their cocktail list overall. I got The Lil' Lad, one of their mocktails, and had rum added to it. It was a unique drink and so delicious that I can't wait to come back and try more of the drinks and definitely the food.

Yelp
Service was friendly, ambiance on point, and the flavor layering was creative and delicious. A bit of a NOLA meets San Francisco vibe. Wear at least a polo (I didn't but I was probably underdressed)

Yelp
Based on our excellent dinner tonight I'm promoting Fig & Ash to 5 stars. We had the carrots like everyone else and the zucchini risotto and lamb pasta. We also had desert, just to taste some olive oil cake, which is showing up on menus everywhere. The food was all great. It's a hectic place, with servers and numerous runners constantly in motion. Everyone is extremely service oriented; five people asked us if we liked the carrots. Although it gets 5 stars there are features that could be improved. The menu is very limited and would benefit from a couple more appetizers and entrees. The wine list is disappointing. It's creative, but to the extreme. Although we found satisfactory wines for both of our visits, we would have preferred a mainstream California Chardonnay, a Malbec. Zinfandel, or Cabernet. Offering a few of these mundane bottles won't hurt the vibe too much. We'll return soon.
