Fiish - Review - Culver City - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"With a name that your phone will relentlessly try to autocorrect, Fiish is a sushi bar in Culver City that serves respectable nigiri and has interesting menu concepts that help it stand out in a crowded market. There’s an 11-piece set called the Big Fiish that’s $58, making it the best bang for your buck and a good way to sample their dry-aged sashimi. The platter of beautiful nigiri comes topped with pickled onions, garlic ponzu, and dollops of aioli, but the actual fish is nothing noticeably different from the sushi served at some of our favorite (cheaper) spots like Sugarfish. We suggest coming to Fiish for the novelties: great vegan options like a silky miso eggplant nigiri and the low-ABV cocktails made with ponzu and actual wasabi. This isn't a revolutionary sushi bar, but it's a good pick for a light meal with cocktails or a fun dinner with plant-based friends." - Sylvio Martins

New LA Hidden Sushi Restaurant Dry-Ages Fish, Sells Sake in Culver City - Eater LA

"Sustainable seafood spot Fiish has moved from its smaller original pop-up location to a larger space in the back corner of the Platform development. Chef-owner Colin Whitbread, partner Jamo Willis, and executive chef Cody Requejo have expanded the casual Japanese menu to include options like dry-aged fish and a full omakase option, which can also be vegan. The restaurant offers starters, salads, nigiri by the piece, larger entrees like miso salmon or coconut curry kanpachi, and a full variety of beer, wine, sake, shochu, and cocktails." - Farley Elliott

I’ve been wanting to come to Fiish for a while now. We finally went for date night last night. The atmosphere and ambience was so sexy. We did the Omakase. Every dish was mouth watering. Also that was the best miso soup I’ve ever had. Look forward to coming back soon!

Google
They have vegan omakase sushi that’s simply divine! It’s definitely pricey but for a special celebration, it’s worth it. My friend ordered the regular omakase and loved it too. I didn’t take many photos of the dishes because I was too busy devouring the bite sized vegan sushi and enjoying a fun evening with my friend. Also, the desserts (all vegan) are amazing too! Waiter was extremely attentive (and easy on the eyes). Sit at the sushi bar for the best experience! Thank you for a lovely dinner!

Hubby and I wanted a date night and we saw this spot on Instagram from a foodie we follow so we made a Resy last minute to dine at the sushi bar on Thursday, 12/29. Upon arriving, I felt super silly not knowing which door was the entrance because it was all glass and enclosed and there was no hostess standing to greet us. Once we saw someone else enter, we followed and were met with a hostess and another who led us to the sushi bar that had 6 open seats-we were sat in the middle of the 6 counter seats. Note: it didn’t feel like a warm welcome even though we were excited to dine here - haven’t you guys seen Restaurant Wars on Top Chef, don’t you know greeting customers and how you make them feel can make or a break a restaurant?? Ah, I digress. We ordered cocktails which were delicious-the Bingo Bango was beautiful, ordered crispy tuna rice, a Little Fiish (pictured) and Big Fiish (they are versions of what felt like Sugarfish‘s Trust Me and Trust Me Lite) and got everything pretty fast. I would have preferred our sushi to come omakese style as opposed to everything all at once on one plate as well as had our sushi explained (what was what). We also had to ask for ginger and wasabi, which I would think this would already be ready for us or we should have been asked if we wanted them. I’m also a bit sad that there was an off menu of toro fish that I found out after reading reviews and not hearing any specials from the server. The crispy tuna rice was probably the best I’ve had in awhile, but the sushi tuna rolls were a bit salty and everything else was mediocre. Overall, we felt like pricing and amount of food were fine, but what really ruined our experience was mid-meal. We were interrupted by the blonde female hostess who said, “I hate to ask this, but do you mind moving over a few seats because there is a party of 4 that wants to sit at the sushi bar.” My husband reluctantly agreed as I was stuffing a tuna roll in my mouth and while she started moving things, I quickly asked if the 4 people can wait because we can just wrap up our meal where we were seated as we would be done soon. My husband had literally just ordered another drink and I was midway into a meal that I was enjoying. The blonde hostess said it was fine and we continued to sit where we were. Why did she even interrupt us and ask? Why were we seated in the middle of 6 counter seats and not the corner seats in case 4 people wanted sushi bar seats? To compare, Kazunori wouldn’t ask 2 people to scoot over so they can fit a party of 4…they would wait until that party’s meal is completed. I was already turned off by this, but what really upset me was the fact that the people she wanted seated at the sushi bar (our seats) were 2 girls that greeted the workers there-clearly they knew the folks that work there and they wanted to please these girls. Instead of asking them to wait, we were asked to uncomfortably move all 10 of our dishes over to make room. As we paid for our meal, I let our server, Randy, know about what we were asked by the hostess and how I felt and he kindly apologized. Sadly, this is exactly the type of service that lives up to how LA is so pretentious. There’s so much potential here with high quality sushi and fun drinks, but it’s unfortunate that the front of house lacks decency. I didn’t pay $200 to be disrespected. I hate to write a bad review, but I would definitely not recommend (sushi wasn’t anything life changing) or be coming back because my experience fell short of a great date night.

I decided to grab some sushi for take away from here this afternoon, and man was it a disappointment. The staff was quite rude (specifically the guy that seemed confused and reluctant to give me my order for some reason, ), and the sushi itself just didn’t taste good. It was messy, sticky, and just did not taste fresh (ate it less than 15 minutes after picking it up). I remember talking to one of the owners before they opened saying that they were gonna be the new sugarfish…I can confidently say that this is not the case. I’ll be going to sugarfish or down the street to k-zo next time for better sushi.

Google
The is a California-inspired Japanese restaurant. The chef ethically sourced fish and ages the fish to concentrate flavor. Try the appetizers and the Little Fiish package which includes a selection of rolls and nigiri. The decor and drinks are all part of the experience.

Google
Best sushi in LA. These guys finally did it— sustainable fish, high quality organic ingredients (seaweed salad doesn’t have green dye) and insane flavors. Branding and vibe are on point. Everyone is super friendly and passionate about the sustainability aspect of their food.

Great nigiris here!! Ask for all different types of toro - off menu!! Miso soup was also great!

Yelp
The ambiance was really nice, but that was the best part of this restaurant. The sushi plate was lackluster and very overpriced. I feel like I've had better sushi from the Japanese grocery store. The edamame and seaweed salad was really basic and bland as well. It would've been nice if the edamame was seasoned with something. Overall, definetely not worth the price.
google avatar

Nikole M.

Yelp
This was really nice ambiance with the decor but is super loud, at least tonight. The cucumber salad was good but too small of a portion. I would get the edamame again and also the tuna tataki. A few of the items definitely needed soy sauce but luckily it's available at the table. I'd come back potentially for the Omakase but everything else was just cool. The service was very nice as they came to check on us after every item we ordered.

Yelp
If you know me, you know I love Sashimi and Sushi. So, when a friend suggested a new place in Culver, she didn't have to twist my arm. So, Ran time. For those who don't know me, means early AF. I got there early because I wasn't sure about parking. If you're lucky, there's street parking. Not a lot so just park at one of the nearby garages. There's one on Landmark right across from the plaza where Fiish is located. Parking for both fuel and electric cars. It was cheap. I don't remember how much. I also got there early to see if there was a Happy Hour and to try any adult beverages they had to offer. Sat at the bar and had a beer and a cocktail. See pics. Different. Liked the beer. Loved the Old Fashioned. A little light on the booze for me but loved how the mix just lingered on my tongue. I would have had another but .... driving. Being a responsible adult. Anyway, decided to sit out on the patio. Again see pics. The dry-aged fish may or may not be for you. You'd have to try it for yourself. I went with the Little Fiish set and I'd have it again. If you didn't catch that, it means I'll be back.

Yelp
Mmmm. "Fiish with two i's" - love the pun. Anyway, I made rez via Resy, however it wasn't needed since it was completely empty when my friend and I arrived! The Platform is always ever-changing with new pop-ups and such, which makes Fiish is another great addition to this space. It is located all the way in the corner past Roberta's. My friend and I both got the Big Fiish because we were HUNGRY and it was well worth it! I'm not sure what dry aging sashimi is/does... But it was definitely delectable! Our favorite was the one with the drop of garlic aioli on top (and the halibut) my gawdddd - what a ride of flavor in your mouth. Familiar, yet new. Pretty "average" pricing for a sushi place at this caliber. I'll definitely be back soon :)

Yelp
Came here for late lunch with a friend right before the holidays, so it wasn't busy. Been meaning to check this place out since I got the notification from The Platform of it's opening. I didn't have a reservation but was greeted right away and was asked if I wanted to sit inside or outside near a heat lamp. There's a good amount of tables, minimalist and sleek inside. My friend was a few minutes late but my server provided me water in the meantime. We shared the greens salad, which was a good sharing portion. I'm a huge fan of ginger dressing and theirs is delicious. There's only 2 pieces in the crispy rice so we got 2 orders of that, and we each ordered a Big Fiish. I personally preferred the cucumber salad to seaweed even though both were food. The Big Fiish has a great assortment of sushi. All the fish was fresh and all the pieces of sushi were really good. The flavors felt a little less traditional with some of the combinations, which I really enjoyed. I also heard from a friend who's been here a few times there's a secret menu? I will inquire next time, because I would definitely come back. The only thing is I wish they validated for valet. But there is a public lot for The Platform, which is cheaper.

Yelp
Friendly service and cute bar. Food is not bad but nothing special. This place is more for the ambience than anything else. The wait staff looked like Abercrombie store workers and they don't even have plain Wasabi...if you ask for extra it's another $1 for a tiny dish. That's how you know this ain't authentic! Fish was decent quality but the omakase was lacking. It was really almost the same thing on the nigiri menu, but with more unknowns. Bummer, there weren't any incentive tasters or small bites either so I opted for one of each nigiri and an extra order of Hamachi.

Yelp
Great sushi, good vibes. Came here for dinner with a friend on a Thursday night, no reservations, and we were seated immediately. I imagine this won't be the case for long once people start to catch on to this spot. We sat outside and, although our seats happened to be right beneath the Metro, we enjoyed the ambiance of the space (and had no trouble hearing each other). We ordered the LA miso soups, crispy rice, and we split the Big Fish -- everything was delicious! Great presentation, and the service was excellent. Our server took the time to explain everything and make recommendations, and she didn't lead us astray. We parked in the platform parking structure immediately adjacent to the businesses, so that was easy. Our server suggested we check out the dry-aged fish so we could see the process for ourselves, and we ran into one of the co-owners (Cody) who was super friendly and took the time to explain everything and describe his fish sources. Fiish has only been open for 2 months, so hurry over and check it out before it gets too crowded -- that won't take long! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Spicy Tuna Rolls are good here too. Had lunch here not long ago. Place is a little big for a dinning and lunch setting. Sushi is really good and not dry here. I love all of the sauces and dressings. Cool owners and nice staff here. I'd come back.

Yelp
I tried the vegan omakase so I could join in with friends (who were having standard omakase.) It was a real treat that the restaurant offered this. I shouldn't complain as the dishes were creative, place is beautiful, and food was fresh (apparently sushi was great) but I wouldn't do a vegan omakase here again. In a few of my courses, while others got a small plate of sashimi or delicate item, I received rice-heavy rolls with vegetables.... lots of starchy ones! This made it difficult for me to portion out my eating since I was full before halfway through the omakase. 4* for the effort and ambiance. Servers were nice but not that attentive. I started taking photos of all the dishes because wow, I feel lucky to have plant-based sushi like this! You can see they're creative, yet dishes become repetitive. I stopped taking photos while laughing as rice rolls continued to pile up in front of me.

Yelp
Was sad to see the previous spot go that was at this location but was excited to have a new sushi option in the neighborhood. Solid quality fish, beautiful decor and aesthetic, below average rice and lacking overall oomph. And to anyone who thinks that rice is not as important as the fish, go watch "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" and listen to a legend speak on it. For these prices I expect Sushi Fumi mouthfeel and umami. But it just doesn't hit like that. I feel like Regina George in her 30's would think this is great sushi. News flash Regina, it's not. It's just some coo. Beautiful though. Got: Little fish Crispy Tuna Rice The roll with tajin on it. Pretty good.

Yelp
I thought Fiish was delicious. They have 2 set menus and also items you can order a la carte. What makes this place stand out in my mind is that fact that all their soy sauce is tamari so I didn't have to ask if they had it and they've done a nice job with their outdoor space. I ordered the little Fiish and thought it was great. I'm going to have to bring my husband back here so he can try it.

Yelp
Very great quality sushi if you are looking for a nice restaurant in the Culver City area. Fish was all very fresh. Very lovely ambiance outside with the plants and pretty lights at night. Staff was all very friendly and attentive!

Yelp
This is really a 2.5 rating. We heard of this because of a tiktok and it was definitely more of a vibes restaurant than for quality sushi in my opinion. Party of 2 came in for 7 pm reservation. The place is large with high ceilings. It was quite modern and chic yet felt intimate. The food was honestly subpar. There wasn't anything I could really recommend. - 2 orders of crispy tuna rice for $9 per order. It only comes w 2 pieces. BEWARE WE GOT A MENU THAT SAID $8 so we were confused when we got the bill so they let us pay for the $8 price but I think they should know to update all of their menus. - little fish $48 - 2/5. You get an order of Edamame (+$2 for spicy, seaweed salad, 2 salmon with lemon zest, 1 albacore garlic ponzu pickled onion, 2 yellowtail jalapeño Negi, 1 stripped bass ponzu togarashi Negi, 1 tuna smoked soy wasabi sashimi, 4 pieces salmon cut roll, and 4 pieces spicy Tuna roll. Fish wasn't as fresh but not bad. What I hated the most was the rice. The proportion of rice to fish was like 2 to 1. And the rice was more on the vinegar side so it overpowered the sashimi. - miso soup $7- 2/5. This is the one item that made me so mad because out server recommended it as the best miso soup she's had... When we got it, the bowl was super small (not surprised). It had chunks of avocado which isn't the biggest red flag for me, but it tasted sour and less miso taste. One mistake we made is ordering 2 orders of the little fish. It was actually a more than enough amount of food along with the sides. I feel we should've ordered one big fish since each fish comes two so we can still try everything. Alcohol was 4/5. - The Pomm was kind of refreshing and a little fruity. - Hot Tommy's. It's not a hot toddy drink thankfully. but it was like a spicy marg if you want tequila with the tajin rim. Service was average. However, when we got our bill, we got some other table's check where we noticed all the items were not ours. On top of that, they had to correct the miso charge. There are parking garages in the same Plaza. 2 hours is $4. Overall, I think the food looked and tasted like a sugar fish takeout and not in a good way. Not worth the $180 bill.

Yelp
This place is closed. I wish Yelp would have let us know that because we traveled out of our area to check this place out.

Yelp
3 reasons why to try Fiish Los Angeles: 1. Excellent attentive service - Friendly staff & the food came out within minutes of ordering! 2. Beautiful ambiance - I'll let the photos speak for themselves. 3. Delicious food and drink - Some of our table favorites were the Striped Bass nigiri, Miso soup (which came with Cholula and avocado for a unique take), and the spicy margarita. Don't walk, RUN to try this before it gets too busy to get in! It's better than Sugarfish, but less annoying to get in ;)

Yelp
My husband and I LOVE sushi so we're excited to try Fiish. It was our first time trying dry aged fish. We made a reservation via Resy and we're seated right away. Ambience was great for a Saturday night. We wanted to try a little bit of everything so we went with the omakase menu. This had a great variety of sashimi and nigiri and also included delicious miso soup (perfect for a cold rainy evening), spicy edamame and dessert. One of my favorite bites was the spicy tuna crispy rice. Everything was yummy! And the courses were well paced. Dessert was a strawberry sorbet which was a light, refreshing way to end the meal. I give this a 4.5 star rating. My husband was underwhelmed by the old fashioned (he's a bit of an old fashioned snob) and didn't love the crushed bar ice used which watered down the cocktail. We were also put off a bit by the 90 minute limit on our reservation. It made us feel like we couldn't take our time and enjoy drinks between courses. But it's a small spot (maybe 20 tables plus the sushi bar) so I guess I understand why they have the time limit. All in all, we will be back!

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience at Fiish last week. Everything we tried was amazing! Great work chef Collin and the entire staff. Going to make this my go to sushi spot in west LA!

Yelp
i loved fiish and i loved that it was sustainable and high quality fish. i felt like you could tell the fish was good at first bite. to make it easy: -maki are the rolls, good size and value -nigiri is just a couple pieces (2) on rice -sashimi is just the fish i took pics of everything we got which was a mix of appetizers, sashimi, nigiri and maki. the highlights were the seared tuna appetizer; kanpachi nigiri, and the lemon drop maki. there's also a couple of appetizers and pre-set menus which makes things super easy if you don't know what to get. i love that there's indoor and outdoor seating (some flies outdoors when we were there which was unfort).

Yelp
I was in Culver City, CA this past Thanksgiving weekend. Sushi was the tradition after eating all the meat, mashed potatoes, stuffing, etc. This place is fancy. I recommend bringing your date for a couple's night out. The menu items all sound great. Best thing to do for a first timer is order the Little Fish or Big Fish, depending on how hungry you are. Also, order the Chef's Omakase. That way, you'll be able to sample a variety this place has to offer. To start, I got their own custom Fiish beer. Throughout the evening, plates of deliciousness are brought to the table...edamame, Seaweed Salad, miso soup, assortment of sashimi, nigiri, and cut rolls. By the end, there was no room for dessert. The bill came and blew me away. I gave it five stars because even the Seaweed Salad stole the show. However, it's not for those on a budget. But every once in a while, you gotta live a little.

Yelp
Great nigiris here!! Ask for all different types of toro - off menu!! Miso soup was also great!
google avatar

Diane M.

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance, but the staff was a bit rigid, which didn't make me a huge fan of the restaurant as a whole. They only take one credit card per table and won't split checks, and they gave us a hard time about getting a table. The restaurant is also very loud so it's hard to hear one another if you go with a big group. The spicy tuna crispy rice was great, and I really enjoyed the hamachi sashimi. Lemon roll was not good- should have listened to the servers recommendation to stick with the sashimis and nigiris.
google avatar

Holly H.

Yelp
Quality is good not great. Ambience is so nice but food should really match the ambience and price. We shared the crispy rice and the spicy tuna was not spicy. I ordered the little fish. The cucumber salad was missing flavor - it lacked the rice vinegar that makes a japanese cucumber salad what it is. The fish was all fine and fresh (enough) but did not taste amazing. My biggest gripe is with their soy sauce. It is extremely salty and definitely not sushi soy sauce. And they don't have the normal wasabi, i've had the type of wasabi they provide before but it's not spicy. We had to ask for wasabi and ginger multiple times. What sushi place doesn't provide these things automatically with raw fish/nigiri? So odd! Also wasn't impressed with the yuzu spritz. This is definitely a skip in my book.
google avatar

ANGELA J.

Yelp
The food was just so so and over priced for the taste and quality. The staff was very pleasant. We love sushi but this would definitely not be our go to. Aesthetically it was on point but for the food, I will pass. I would not recommend. It's not a terrible place but I have definitely had better.
google avatar

Esther J.

Yelp
I actually really enjoyed this place. It reminded me of Sugarfish and although the rice wasn't as warm and soft as Sugarfish, it was pretty good and the fish was fresh. I thought it was the perfect amount of food and I enjoyed every bite with no complaints. It's not fine dining but a satisfactory, quick little lunch! They didn't mind that I brought my dog in either. I was able to replace a spicy tuna roll with a salmon roll, which was very yummy. The seaweed salad was superb and it was the most memorable. I loved it so much I would come back for it!
google avatar

Jon R.

Yelp
Little Fish, BIG flavor. I saw this new spot opened up at the Platform mall in Culver and decided to try it. The quality and freshness of the fish is unmatched. Most places use trimmings for making their ground fish in the rolls and here you can tell it's the real deal from each bite. Kudos to the chefs for making an exceptional set of complimentary flavors on the toppings of each piece of nigiri and sashimi. I prefer the boxes that come with a combination of sushi and nigiri so I can try a little bit of everything. Don't forget to ask for their special sauces and fresh wasabi! Honorable mention on the vegan roll. I normally go with the classics and after waking up on other side of the bed one morning wanted to try something different. It's objectively in the running for best top three rolls that they offer! Can't wait for Big Fish to open up in a few weeks.
google avatar

Nicholas M.

Yelp
I enjoyed the dish served as a box, adding to the experience. The unboxing added anticipation and to be greeted with the colorful assortment of sushi. The sashimi had some creative garnishes. I enjoyed the various acidic components and and their visual dazzle. The fish itself was nothing special though. Some pieces were firm, sometimes sashimi is scored to still give it a melting sensation, but not the case here. The flavor was dulled and uninspired. The rolls were standard. The rice was a little overdone, or at least too much binding proteins, and a bit lacking in the usual refreshing tones.
google avatar

Yelp
I wish I could experience the miracle of child birth. But, I am male and will never have the opportunity. Our waiter was fantastic tonight. We listened to all his recommendations tonight and it was delicious. He even showed us how they dry age the fish! I asked if they could "wet age" the fish. Was trying to make a joke and impress the girl i was with. Joke fell flat and she went home with the uber driver of all people. Weirdly enough that's not the first time that happened to me. I tried driving uber to pick up women but got banned for hitting on a single mother of 4. I loved her. Would definitely consider coming back! A little expensive though!

Yelp
Ambiance was great for a Saturday night. Came here w. Some friends. Service was on it, however I'd ask to be coursed out. Food came out way to quickly and we felt rushed & the drinks took a little longer than usual. The drinks were good but they tasted watered down. They're known for there dry aged fish, I'd say for the price point the fish was good but I didn't love it. If you're in the area id definitely check it out and compare to your usual sushi spots.

Yelp
New spot at the new development called the Platform. If I am not mistaken I saw them constructing the actual restaurant in the plaza so I'm assuming this is their to go spot or temporary location until they are finished. For starters all the fish was very fresh and juicy. Overall presentation was great and I actually did like the box it came in. No frills no fuss no over the top sushi rolls, just clean fresh fish. Not too bad for a quick eat, looking forward to the actual restaurant opening.
google avatar

Anika B.

Yelp
Such a vibey place with great service and amazing food as well. This place is still small I'm assuming because when I called to change my reservation last minute they were super nice and accommodating about it. The fish quality is amazing and it's so nice that they have vegan options too. Our veg and vegan friends loved the eggplant and avocado nigiri and the dragon roll. The fish was high quality and delicious. My favorites of the night were the crispy rice with spicy tuna, the kampachi nigiri, salmon nigiri, and the vegan dragon roll. Our waiter also recommended the orange wine which we loved.

Yelp
I was looking for a new sushi restaurant close to me and I am so glad I saw the articles about Fiish Sushi. Their online menu currently doesn't list omakase (Chef's choice), yet I was happy to see their restaurant menu did. I asked for omakase at a table because I was on a date, but I plan on going back to try at the sushi bar as the waiter stated you get a more intimate experience with the Itamae (Sushi Chef). Plus, it is known that rice can change differently from sitting at the counter vs. table. I don't know if there would be a difference though. Every piece created by the Itamae was amazing. The place is beautiful! I wish it hadn't been raining so we could sit outside, but the inside was well laid out with smart seating design and beautiful, modern decor. They also had music playing which I loved. It helped drown out the noise of the other tables, but wasn't so loud in order to have a meaningful conversation at your table. The waiter said they are still looking to find the right house sake (hot sake), but still had an amazing selection of creative drinks, wine, and cold sake. They did not automatically provide oshibori (hot towel), but they did accomodate my request for one. I feel this is likely due to many in LA not used to eating nigiri with their hands. Also, for being of such high quality and in LA, the prices are not egregious. Think Nobu level sushi with a better price point! At the time of this post, I believe Nobu's omakase is $175 or more; here it is $95! TLDR: 12/10 will go again

Yelp
Background: Made reservations online for 7:30pm. Normally a fan of Sugarfish but was enticed by the ethically sourced fish and dry aged fish. Location: Platform at Culver City. Located around the corner from Roberta's and near Sweetgreen. Parking: Street parking or parking in the structure. It cost $4.00 for 2 hours. Ambiance: Very trendy, intimate setting. Tables are close together. Options for outside, inside, or at the bar. Food: Ordered the Valentines Day special which included several courses and dessert. As another reviewer stated, the fish is just okay. A matter of personal preference, but the garnishments did not enhance the flavor of the fish and were overpowering at times. Some pieces were overly doused in yuzu or lemon. There was little to no soy sauce in the container on the table. They do not provide wasabi. We also did not get a cute little candle that every other table had. Service: The poor service stood out. Workers were bustling around and appeared flustered. They could not recall what course we were on, food came out at different times even though we ordered the same special, and did not describe what fish we were getting. They took our menu so we weren't able to refer back to it. We were so hungry that we immediately gobbled up whatever course was in front of us and then waited another 15-20 minutes for the next one. Most frustrating was to witness the two adjacent tables be seated after us and and received their food much quicker. Overall impression: try it if you don't mind a twist on fish or want to experience a cute, trendy spot. Avoid it if you have the tendency to get hangry

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful and has a really great vibe to it. Unfortunately the food and service need working on. The menu looked interesting. We ordered the big fish ( the larger of the prefix options) so we could try a variety of things, as well as the crispy rice, the tuna tataki and the catch 22. The fish looked ok, however it tasted completely bland. There was no taste to it whatsoever. Yes they put "garnishes" on different ones. The garnishes were nice but usually garnishes enhance the flavor of the fish. Hard to do when the fish doesn't taste like anything. Then there were some dishes that were extremely over sauced to the point where even if the fish did taste like something it wouldn't have mattered. All the sauces were very sweet and one note. The cucumber salad was the best thing on the menu. We ordered sake and it was fine. Nothing great. The wait staff seemed very unorganized and flustered. When we first sat down there was no candle at our table like the others. We tried to track someone down but everyone was too busy. We sat at a dark table for way too long. Finally when the waiter showed up and we asked, he said he thought something looked funny but couldn't figure out what. The staff brought us numerous of the same dish and were confused as to whether they had already brought it to us. But then there were things we ordered that never came and didn't come until we asked numerous times. There was no soy sauce on our table like the other tables. It was 3/4 of the way through our meal when a drink we ordered with food finally arrived. Had high hopes for this restaurant. I can ignore the staff issues like maybe they're still working on some things but the food is just disappointing.

Yelp
We saw this place while walking in the platform shops and we thought maybe it would be a good idea to give this place a shot. The server literally had no idea what the menu items were and honestly was super uneducated about sushi. The quality of the fish is subpar for the price and you get get much better value at places like SUGARFISH and KazuNori. Would not recommend and would not go back.

Yelp
We stumbled upon Fiish on their second opening night and were very lucky to be able to walk right in without a wait. Jake was our server and he was very good and attentive. The outside area is cute with very comfortable seating, however the music is quite loud. I ordered the little fish and my fiancé ordered their big fish, which were the only prefix options. Both of us thought it was way more food than we expected and thought the quality was top notch. The best fish by far was the albacore nigiri with pickled onion and sesame, the flavors went together so well and I had not had that combination before. The seaweed salad was unique as it was not overwhelmed by the typical sesame flavor and had a wider range of taste as opposed to being a one note side dish. The tuna sashimi practically melted as you ate the pieces and had a strong kick of wasabi. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant, you should come hungry because the sushi is delicious and comes in much larger quantity than you expect.

Yelp
They have vegan omakase sushi that's simply divine! It's definitely pricey but for a special celebration, it's worth it. My friend ordered the regular omakase and loved it too. Great presentation though I didn't take many photos of the dishes because I was too busy devouring the bite sized vegan sushi and enjoying a fun evening with my friend. Also, the desserts (all vegan) are amazing too! Waiter was extremely attentive (and easy on the eyes). Sit at the sushi bar for the best experience! One start knocked off because the ventilation is poor (even with its high ceilings)...you'll smell burnt (as though you walked through ashes...)

Yelp
We have our go-to sushi spots (including Sugarfish), but decided to check out this new local spot. Our server was very friendly. We each got the Little Fish and it was hit or miss - some of the pieces didn't taste very fresh. A few other things bothered me - I love dogs but they don't belong inside a restaurant, the soy sauce container on our table was empty, and we had to ask for ginger and wasabi. Overall not a bad place if you're in the area and craving sushi without a long wait, but there are definitely better spots in LA in the same price range.

Yelp
I stumbled across this place, trying to avoid sitting in rush hour traffic. The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely. It definitely is trendy and modern. You can sit inside or outside. The sushi was pretty good and was fresh. Ordered the Big Fiish, and shared it between two people. It was enough for us to sample one of everything. The seaweed salad and cucumber salad were good as well. The servers we attentive and friendly. Overall it was a good experience.

Yelp
It's so nice to have a sushi spot in my neighborhood! The fish here is so delicious and fresh! It's innovative and I'm obsessed with the staff. They really go above and beyond to take care of their guests. I'm a huge foodie and my favorite thing is sitting at the sushi bar and getting the omakase! I've already been 5 times and it's always different, delicious, and fun! Yay fiish thanks for existing!

Yelp
The best sushi I've had in LA. Quality of the fish outclasses Sugarfish and others. Absolutely love it.

Yelp
Had such an amazing date night at fiish!! The ambiance was immaculate- trendy yet high end. The music was great. The food was even better! We tried so many different items on the menu and every one was unique and beyond flavorful. I could tell that freshness and quality matter most to this restaurant!! They're doing a great job with everything and I can't wait to visit again :) highly recommend

Yelp
Food: Good. Got the big fish and it was definitely filling. The garlic edamame was a little too spicy. Also needed our own water pitcher bc the glasses were so small it just left the waiters having to fill our glass constantly. Little pricey for what it was Service: good but the food all came out so fast we were in and out in under 30 minutes, which made it feel like a fast food experience. Would prefer more of a Sugarfish experience where they stagger it out more. Ambiance: Beautiful space

Yelp
This place is my new go to for lunch. When I went (the first week it opened in its new location) it was takeout-only, but the inside is so cute! Service is efficient and everything comes packaged looking like a work of art. Sushi is really good!

Yelp
Definitely a new sushi spot to watch out for. Ordered the bigger box, and the quality of the fish was great. I hear that the feisty is all sustainably caught. Better quality than sugar fish with the same fun box

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing! Delicious food, great drinks, fun music, trendy decor, and fantastic service! My husband and I ordered the omakase at the sushi bar and every course was fantastic, it's impossible to choose a favorite! All the chefs are so talented and I look forward to coming back soon!

Yelp
Fiish holds a special place in my heart for this- The service and ambiance is very fun and exciting, making it a great date night spot. Unfortunately, my date didn't show up . I still stayed to have dinner because I've been wanting to have sushi here for weeks and the staff was so kind/accommodating about my situation. It meant a lot to me that they had empathy and checked in to see how I was doing after my date no-showed. Food- I ate the spicy tuna crispy rice at the bar but took the little fish order to go. From sitting at the bar, you can easily tell that the staff takes pride in making each dish and does a quick quality check before sending it out to be served. The to-go box is great for take out sushi and the little fish was more than enough food for one person. I loved the variety that came with the little fish and it all tasted very fresh and flavorful. Thank you Fiish for turning my night around with your delicious sushi . Will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Sushi boxes with the freshest sustainable fish around!! And the boxes look really cool. Love this new place and can't wait to go back. Seaweed salad made organic way with no weird green color. As I understand, a restaurant close by is in the works. Can't wait to see what they do. This business is passionate about what they do.

Yelp
My fiancé and I had high hopes for this place. Great location, the restaurant was really nice, great music.... But the food was subpar and honestly just overpriced. We ordered the big fish, a couple small plates, 1 roll and a small sake and our bill came out to almost $200. The fish itself was ok, not incredible, not bad... but really lacking flavor and for that price, you just can't justify it.
