Filishack Peckham - Review - Peckham - London - The Infatuation

"Filishack is an order-via-iPad, wooden cutlery kind of spot. But this Filipino takeaway in Peckham is also the kind that makes incredible beef adobo. When you walk into the all-black room, you can spy chicken inasal being grilled at the back, and garlic mayo and sriracha zig-zagged across salad boxes by the pick-up till. But the thing to order here is the beef adobo and sticky garlic rice box which makes for a satisfying, moreish meal that you could eat on one of their outside tables. Although we’d suggest taking it to go for an excellent lunch or dinner. video credit: Rianne Shlebak Food Rundown Beef Adobo Rice Box The saucy, deep brown meat is rich, garlicky, and shreds apart with little effort from the disposable fork. You can get the beef in a burrito or on some salad or chips, but we’re into the fragrant garlicky rice box. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Chicken Inasal Rice Box This chicken inasal is a little boring. The only flavour that really comes across is the char from the grill. We’d skip this and stick to the excellent beef. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak" - Rianne Shlebak

The Best Filipino Restaurants in London: Where to Eat Filipino Food | Eater London

"Owned by Cacho brothers Jonathan and Justice, Filishack has mastered the art of chicken inasal. The dish, much like their approach to running a food joint, is simple and uncomplicated. The chicken is marinated in lemongrass, ginger, vinegar and calamansi before being charred: smoky and aromatic from the grill, it’s then laid out in a rice box or enveloped in a burrito. Also consider the adobo burrito, its filling braised in soy, pepper, vinegar, garlic, bayleaf, and a dash of coconut milk." - Juli Suazo

Peckham’s Best Restaurants | Where to Eat in Peckham and Peckham Rye | Eater London

"It’s possible to buy the whole world in Peckham, but until General Store starts stocking yams, it’s unlikely that these worlds ever collide. There is one place, however, that has the distinction of being the shop everyone goes to: Filishack. Owned by Peckham boys Jonathan and Justice Cacho, who grew up on the “Yellow Brick” Bells Garden’s Estate, Filishack is the exemplar of a business which knows its audience intimately and is content to do one thing and do that one thing better than it actually needs to be. Although adobo is on the menu, pretty much everyone congregates outside Peckham Library for the chicken inasal, grilled chicken nonpareil, marinated in lemongrass, ginger, vinegar and calamansi, then chopped into pieces to give every available bit of surface area a blackened char. It’s possible to get the inasal in a wrap, with the clever addition of garlic rice to make a burrito, but it’s probably best as a simple rice box. The Cachos will soon move from their van to a permanent site round the corner, where there will hopefully be space for new dishes. If you can’t find them, no worries: just follow the scent of garlic." - Jonathan Nunn

I ordered the Large Grilled Chicken Rice Box, and let me tell you ; the portion is more than generous (easily enough for two people!). The flavours were spot on, with perfectly chargrilled chicken and tasty sauces that tied everything together. You really can’t go wrong with this choice , highly recommend!

Bruh I ordered from here bc it looked soooo good online and I heard good things, but when it came it was SO mid and looked nothing like it does online. I also paid extra for cheese and added spring onion and both didn’t come, and there wasn’t any salad. It tasted alright to be fair but nothing special, I wouldn’t get it again 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I love Filishack; in fact, I have been a customer since we were outside Peckham library. I visit the Peckham shop at least twice a week, but today I went with my kids, all under 10, and the music playing was very dirty and rude. I asked the guy why that kind of song He smiled and continued. When we left my son said that music was very wrong. This is a shop that is a hot spot for kids. Please do better.

This is long overdue but I have visited this branch many times and love the food. The Chicken Inasal rice box is my favourite as its a mix or sweet and savoury but I also tried the Chicken Adobo which was great too. Portions are very generous for the price, it's very likely to fill you up for the whole day or be enough to have leftovers if you order the large rice box. It's very easy to order, they have self service and payment terminals when your order is ready they will call your name, they also have seating inside and outside to enjoy your food. This is the first place I always go if I want to eat in Peckham, I highly recommend it!

I was super disappointed, I paid extra for sauces but sadly when I got my order - there was literally no sauce? I got a tiny drizzle of mayo and that’s it??? The food was insanely dry as well, I couldn’t hack it 😭😭 I was so disappointed because I literally paid extra for it to be COVERED in sauces but sadly it was not
