Best Restaurants and Bars to Try on Convoy Street in Kearny Mesa | Eater San Diego

"One of the first Chinese restaurants in San Diego to specialize in suan cai yu, a white fish and fermented cabbage stew spiked with Sichuan peppercorns and Chinese chile peppers, Fish With You opened earlier this year and has quickly established itself as a go-to spot on Convoy. The addictive sour tinge to the soup comes courtesy of the cabbage, which is pickled overnight. The counter-service restaurant also offers unlimited sides like free Wuchang rice imported from China, tofu, black fungus, needle mushrooms, and sweet potato vermicelli. The most popular soup is the laotan boiled fish with pickled cabbage, chile and basa fish, but be sure to also try the sides like crispy pork." - Helen I. Hwang

Best Seafood in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"Convoy District is fortunate to have an outpost of Fish With You, a hugely popular fish soup franchise with over 2,500 locations in 360 cities, mostly in China. The restaurant showcases a version of a hearty, spicy fish and pickled vegetable soup that’s a must-try. Start with the signature suancai and fish soup with a choice of basa or snakehead white fish before branching out to green Szechuan pepper suancai and fish. Soups come with sweet potato glass noodles and Chinese stem lettuce with free add-ons like enoki mushrooms, bean curd, and bowls of rice. Don’t skip the side items like crispy pork (or crispy chicken as an off-the-menu option)." - Helen I. Hwang

The Best Restaurants in Flushing’s Chinatown | Eater NY

"This enormous fast-casual chain in China landed stateside in the summer with a sole focus: Sichuan fish and fermented cabbage stew. The five broths hit up all the distinctive traits of Sichuan: spicy, tingly, and sour with sprigs of Sichuan peppercorns still on the vine. Take your pick of basa or snakehead (a thinner, flaky white-fleshed fish) fish fillets and toppings like enoki mushrooms. With rice on the side, portions are hefty." - Caroline Shin

Actually, we were planning to go another restaurant, but they put us in wait list for 45mins. So we decided to go the fish place. And I’m so glad I made great decision. They made amazing fish, every fish dish came with different vegetables. We ordered 5 dishes, only spent $75. Great place with great price, will come again.

This is my first time eating at Fish With You. My daughter recommended this great restaurant. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The ingredients are fresh and plentiful. The restaurant is new to the area. Lots of parking and seating. They are super busy. The restaurant is organized and quick to serve. I highly recommend that you try these delicious foods. We can't wait to return to try something else on the menu.

Google
We ordered their Signature Dish and the tomato based. The Signature Dish was okay in comparison to other places I've been. The tomato based is unique for sure. But.. get the brown sugar rice appetizer. This was my favorite.

Google
So good so good I said it twice. But fair warning, you have to like mala, because they like to add it to their broth which numbs and zaps your tongue with a slow burn. But actually it's mild here. We got the signature suancai (sour cabbage) and fish which was pretty good and their hot pots are slightly build your own. I could probably finish the large bowl alone but honestly I liked the super Angus beef better. The fried pork appetizer was ok l, the fried squid better but the fried oysters were really good with a mild oyster flavor. They're open until 10:30 too so I liked that.

My friend love this restaurant so much that she normally come like twice a week 🤣🤣🤣 She said she had to take us here to try their fish. I have to say the sour cabbage fish does taste very flavorful ~~~ BUT MY FAVORITE IS 糍粑! the fried mochi covered with brown sugar is super tasty! We finished 2 order of them! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

We actually didn’t plan to eat here at first, but after seeing all the positive reviews and high ratings, we decided to give it a try. The food was good and pretty generous in portion. If you’re not a big eater, the small size is probably enough for 2. We ordered the large one and ended up with a full bowl of leftovers to take home.

Google
“鱼你在一起” offers a straightforward and satisfying dining experience for lovers of pickled fish. The restaurant’s clean and bright decor gives off a modern and casual vibe, with touches of vibrant orange that keep things energetic. It’s a place that feels welcoming, though it can get a little crowded during peak hours. The pickled fish dishes are well-executed, with tender fish slices soaking in broths that pack a punch of tangy, slightly spicy flavors. I personally enjoyed the classic pickled cabbage fish for its balance of sourness and heat, while the tomato-based option felt lighter and more refreshing. The spice level is manageable and won’t overwhelm you, even if you’re not a fan of overly fiery dishes. The portion sizes are reasonable, especially considering the affordable prices, making it a good value meal. Service is quick and efficient, though it’s more of a self-service experience. You order at the counter, and the food is brought to your table fairly promptly. While it’s not a place for lingering, it’s perfect for a quick and flavorful meal. Overall, “鱼你在一起” is a great spot for when you’re craving something comforting, flavorful, and unapologetically bold. It’s not fancy, but it delivers where it counts: good food at a fair price.

Google
Got the sour spicy fish and 毛血旺。can see why they're one of biggest chains in China. No need for chef. Simple menu but delicious food and efficient service. Been here twice in a month.

Yelp
The signature suancai and fish was the best! Great service and clean environment. We will definitely come back.

Yelp

Yelp
The hype is real with this restaurant. When I first visited in February, I saw the lines for lunch and knew I had to try it. I went again in June on a summer night and still found a line. We opted for a large and it was more enough for us. Served with two bowls of rice and water at our disposal. Check-in is via tablet and ordering is via phone. Service is friendly and efficient. We went with the top recommendation (laotan suancai and had snake fish). It was considered mild spicy but there was still plenty of spice. Overall, I will come again.

Yelp
I had never heard of this place before, but was told it's really popular in China. Every time I walked by, it looked super busy, so I was excited to finally give it a try. We ordered the Classic Aromatic Spicy Suancai and Fish. THE PORTIONS ARE HUGE. My friend and I shared one serving, and we were both completely full by the end. Just a heads up: if you order one serving, you only get one bowl of rice. I'm not sure if rice refills are available since they never offered, and we weren't sure if we were supposed to ask. The soup itself was flavorful, definitely strong with that signature Sichuan spice, but not so intense that it numbs your whole mouth. It's more on the sour side, and the fish was really soft, almost melting in your mouth with the heat of the broth. One downside was the overwhelming amount of peppercorns. Do people actually eat them? I had to keep pushing them aside and really didn't enjoy accidentally biting into one. With a single serving, you also get to pick two toppings. We went with vermicelli noodles and enoki mushrooms. The noodles caught us off guard, we were expecting thin ones but ended up with thick, flat noodles instead. However, the crispy pork was a highlight. It was packed with flavor, perfectly crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. The only letdown was that it arrived just warm rather than hot, I think it would've been even better if it came out fresh and sizzling like the soup did. Overall, I might come back once the weather cools down. It's not something I'd crave often, but maybe I'll give one of their other soups a shot next time.

Yelp
First off, the reviews of this restaurant are inflated due to the restaurant providing a free drink in exchange for a 5 star review. The place is busy. We came on Sunday at around 2-3pm and had to wait 10 mins to get seated. The place is decent. For a party of 4 we ordered one sour cabbage and one tomato broth one, both which came with two bowls of white rice each. The flavor is very good as well as the fish. One note is we ordered bamboo shoots as a topping and besides my sister getting one piece, no one else saw any other bamboo shoots. The crispy pork and taro lava balls are both great. They come out warm and crispy.

Yelp
I got terrible service today. I ordered takeout 3 items Signature Suancai & Fish, Laotan Suancai & Fish, and Seaweed Salad with the guy in the front. I'm not sure of his name, but the receipt show HUIXING XING name taking my order. When I saw the receipt, it showed he put the wrong item because I didn't order Green Szechuan Pepper. I let the lady know about the mistake she walked into the kitchen to let them know what the correct item. After that, when the guy brought my food to me, I asked him one more time to make sure that it was the correct items, but he did not answer, tried to avoid me, and pointed his hand to the receipt on the bag and walked away. That is BAD communication and I got the wrong order. I'm not a problem if he doesn't have great English. I try to listen and talk to him. But his attitude is really bad, and finally, he makes mistakes. I drove from Pasadena for 35 minutes to buy your food, and I always put the tip even though I order takeout because I appreciate your job, BUT it seems like your guy likes the customer NO TIP for you.

Yelp
Ordered Uber Eats delivery on a weekday evening. The food was delivered so fast and packaged extremely well. They used a reusable bag which was nice. I have tried one person classic aromatic suancai fish, it was black fish with 3 add-ons included and a side of rice. The portion was big and the flavors were very comforting. Except there was too much Sichuan peppercorns in it. I am not a fan of numbing flavor. Still the fish was tender and yummy. I will order Uber eats from here again (leave out the numbing peppercorns next time)!

Yelp
This place has been on my list for awhile, and I finally got to try it. The broth is so so good, perfect amount of spice and flavor. Also, lots of fish and topping throughout the soup. I got the two people portion which is more than enough for two and even potentially three people!

Yelp
One of my recent favorites when I'm in the area. It's kind of a mix of sit-down and fast-food in terms of service which actually works out great for fast table turnarounds. The place is a bit small so expect a short wait during dinner rush. Their main thing is spicy suancai (preserved/pickled vegetables) fish soup which comes in a few varieties. It's on the intense side in terms of flavor but actually quite refreshing! Their menu is pretty streamlined for the most part and they offer some interesting sides and unlimited rice. At first the portions seem huge, but the bowls are actually quite shallow. However, I find that it is usually quite enough food. For two people, we usually get a large and a regular size entree, take anything extra home for an easy meal the next day.

Yelp
Ordered delivery from here and it was quite good. Tasted very authentic and goes well with rice. They gave a lot of coupons for in person visit which was nice. Hope to try it in person next time!

Yelp
I would give this place 3.5 stars. Most of the dishes here are spicy. If you like fish and spicy food, you might like this place more than I do. I don't care for spicy food, so the food here is just okay for me (not spectacular.) For some of the dishes, you can choose between two kinds of fish. The fish does taste fresh, not fishy. The flavor is not bad; but I think the broth is too oily and spicy for me. Service is average, not great. This place is kind of small, so be prepared to wait if you come at a busy time.

Yelp
Located in Diamond Plaza, this restaurant is known for their sour fish soup. They offer a variety of sour soups so we had to check it out. We got the Crispy Pork and Laotan Soup with basa fish. You can chose 4 sides to add into the soup, we chose bean curd, woodear mushroom, tofu, and lettuce. We got a portion for 2 people but it was so filling that the 3 of us took the rest for leftovers! This is a bright space with ample seating. There's Chinese and English on the menu and ordering.
google avatar

Yelp
Fish with you is located in the diamond plaza and it specializes in suan cai and fish. The ordering system was easy to understand. We scanned a QR code that led us to the selection of the dishes. We got three different soups to try out their flavors. You can choose between basa fish and snakehead. You can also choose 4 toppings to put in your soup such as enoki, tofu, vermicelli, black fungus, etc. Laotan suancai & snakehead: The soup was a little too oily for my preference, but had a nice flavor. The snakehead was really tender. Green Szechuan Pepper Suancai & basa fish: we asked for this dish less spicy, which led me to be to believe they would put less szhechuan peppers, but it was still very mala. My mouth was so numb, but the employee gave us some extra broth to help with the mala and it worked. Royal Tomato fish: this was my favorite out of the three. It was rich and had a good flavor. I enjoyed it. Overall, the soups felt very comforting. I would definitely come again during colder weather.

Yelp
Dined here at 8pm on a bustling Thursday night, and it didn't disappoint! Service: The staff was quick and efficient. We waited briefly for a table for two, but they kept things moving smoothly, and we were seated in no time. Ambiance: It was a full house, which made it a tad noisy. Food: We ordered single-serving soups ($15-$18), and each one was absolutely delicious--rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The best part? The unlimited hot, fresh rice that paired beautifully with the soup. Will definitely be back for more of that unbeatable soup-rice combo!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I sometimes get a sudden craving for Suan Cai Yu, and we've come often enough to Fish With You to know that it's a reliable choice to get that craving satisfied. There's a huge parking lot (and even an underground parking structure), but the parking situation can be difficult depending on time and day of the week. Fish With You shares the lot with a lot of other popular restaurants We normally get the Laotan Boiled Fish with Pickled Cabbage and Chili, which is a decently sized portion for two people. The pungency and flavor of the broth are addicting -- it's the type of food you want to keep eating even after you're already full. The fish is gently cooked and soft, and is my favorite part of the dish (apart from the bouncy and chewy sweet potato vermicelli). We also get the crispy pork, which is a great accompaniment to the boiled fish. The food is always solid and the service is always kind and quick, but I do have one minor complaint -- WHY DID THEY CHANGE THE RICE CAKES? As much as we love the Suan Cai Yu, my boyfriend and I unanimously agreed that the brown sugar glutinous rice cakes were the best item on the menu. They were crisp on the outside, chewy and hot on the inside, and had just the right amount of brown sugar syrup drizzle. The new ones aren't bad, but I don't find myself craving these as much as the old ones. Regardless, I would definitely recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
I went to Fish With You for lunch on Friday with a friend, and we both really liked the place. We ordered their Signature Suan Cai & Fish (single serving) for $17.95, which was great. It's a fixed dish with bamboo shoots, fish, and starch noodles. You can't add other ingredients, but it's already a well-balanced combination and very delicious. You can also choose your preferred spice level. We also ordered the Laotian Suan Cai & Fish (two-person serving) for $23.95. For this dish, you can add extra ingredients at no additional charge, which was great. We added dried soy skin, enoki mushrooms, napa cabbage, and black fungus. You can also select the spice level for this one. There was so much food that the two of us couldn't finish it and had to take the rest to go. The service was great, and the price is fair. Now I have another lunch option--and I think it would be great for dinner too. I'll definitely recommend this place to my friends and will visit again!

Ryan S.

Yelp
Had a really nice lunch here! We each ordered our own dishes, and I got the royal tomato dish while my wife got the signature suancai. She found the spice level to be tolerable on hers, and my tomato dish was tasty as well. I liked that the tomato soup wasn't too sour, and still had some great flavor. The rice is unlimited which is a nice touch. I would've liked to see more fish in the dish, but overall I enjoyed the food and would come back. The service is quick and the restaurant does get busy at lunchtime!

Yelp
Ordered to-go: -Signature Snakehead soup Medium $18 comes with rice, two sides wide bean thread noodles, and pickles -Laotan Basa soup Medium $15 sides I picked mushroom and bean curd. Rice also included. Both dishes were both so amazing and tasty. The were both equally good on its own and you really can't tell which is the better tasting dish unless you eat the soup side-by-side. With the soup comparison ended up liking the signature soup a little better because 1: The snake head was really tasty and tender and 2: The bigger pieces of pickled greens lent the soup a slight tang which brightened up the dish a lot better than the Laotan soup. Plus the bigger pieces of pickled greens gave a good texture deferential compared to the other soup. This place automatically will go on the repeat list however I feel it's just as good as my go to Feng shui fish soup place I frequent in OC. The prices are about the same especially since the taxes are lot higher in LA.

Yelp
Delicious fish dishes Fast frendily service, Clean Modern ambiance Would recommend if you like spicy Most dish here are with a bit of spice
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered the Basa fish with lemon sauce and it was pretty yummy! Although, the fish portion was on the slim side, but sauce is 10/10. My brother in law ordered the beef with tomato sauce, he said it was decent but nothing to brag about. Overall experience was pleasant.

Yelp
"The environment was comfortable, the dishes were served quickly, the flavors were excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. Overall, a satisfying dining experience.

Yelp
Been wanting to try "Fish With You" for a while now but was a little hesitant because it's quite specialized and I was a bit afraid that my husband would not like it. After looking over the menu and reading reviews, we've decided to give them a try this trip. Suancai & fish is one of my favorite dishes and if I see it on the menu, I'm always tempted to get it. It's essentially boiled fish with preserved veggies. It is boiled in broth and the broth is traditionally made with the fish bones and fish head. The soup will also have peppers and numbing peppercorns for the spice. It's super delicious with some noodles & rice! The dish itself tends to be quite pricey back home. My husband, friend and I arrived at the restaurant around 6PM tonight and were seated almost right away. There's a QR code on the table for you to scan to open up the digital menu and order from your phone. You also have the option of grabbing a physical menu and one of the servers will come along to take your order. I had a few questions on the menu that I wanted some clarification so we decided to order with the server. According to the server, their Signature Suancai & Fish is very similar to the Laotan Suancai & Fish taste wise. The Signature one is set meaning you can't change anything to it. It only comes with Snakefish and the sides are already decided too (I can't remember which ones you get). For the Laotan, you can choose between the basa fish or the snakehead fish. The snakehead does have skin on it so if you're not a fan of that, I would recommend the basa. Additionally, you get to choose which sides you want in your dish. If you get the 1 person portion, it comes with your choice of 2 sides and rice. If you get the 2 person portion, it comes with your choice of 4 sides and two bowls of rice. Unfortunately, you cannot pay to add more sides to your dish, which is kinda odd to me. The good part is ... the rice seems to be unlimited refills. The sides that you can choose include: bean curd (was actually tofu skin), enoki mushroom, baby cabbage (napa), tofu, vermicelli (was actually wide potato noodles), black fungus (aka wood ear mushroom), and lettuce stems. There were reviews saying that the one person portion is actually a good amount of food so for the three of us, we went with: Laotan Suancai & Fish - We got the one person portion with basa fish. For sides, I went with the bean curd and vermicelli. This was super delicious and flavorful. I wish it was a bit spicier though cause the peppers were really subtle. The basa fish was delicious and easy to eat. Wasn't a huge fan of their bean curd (tofu skin) but they gave a lot! I loved the noodles though cause it soaked up all the broth. Everything was so delicious with rice. Super Angus Beef - We got the one person portion with tomato broth. Similar to their Signature, you could not choose the sides. This automatically came with napa cabbage, enoki mushroom, and tofu. This dish was pretty good too! The tomato broth is clean, flavorful, and a tad tangy. It's great when you're not into the spicy and sour broth. We also got an extra bowl of rice at $1.99 since there was three of us and we only ordered two one person portions. Honestly, it was plenty of food for the three of us. We were all full! For dessert, we got the coconut lava balls. They were airy, crispy, and filled with a coconut sago type of filling. It was light and not too sweet! The prices are extremely reasonable as well & the service is good! The servers answered any and all questions that I had. Overall, I loved the food here. It's quite specialized and it's not for everyone. But they do have non-fish dishes and sides for those that aren't huge fans. I am definitely returning when I am in the area again!
google avatar

Sandy K.

Yelp
We ordered takeout on a weekend and it was a 15 minute wait. This plaza gets very packed on the weekends, especially with the dim sum in the plaza too! We decided to go with their TOP 2 choice and it was super declined and filling! Great for two people to share. The dish also comes with 2 free rice along with 4 free toppings. We chose the bean curd, which had so much inside, enoki mushroom, cabbage and black fungus. We also opted for the black fish I believe. Surprisingly, there was a lot of fish given and the soup had a hint of spicy! Will definitely be back to try possibly their TOP 1 dish!

Yelp
I've been to Fish With You twice and enjoyed it both times. On my last go around, I tried the lemon soup-- It's delicious and has a very refreshing flavor that opens up your appetite. And of course, the value of the fish pots here are great. I'm hoping they don't decide to raise prices once they get more popular! Snacks here are also good (and heat up very nicely in an air fryer if you can't finish). The pumpkin cake could have used a little extra sweetener so that it didn't taste quite so oily, but the coconut lava balls were excellent. Squid skewers are also good, but the size of the skewer does vary a little. Last time, I got one that was quite a bit smaller than during this last visit. Also: I don't really recommend getting this place for takeout unless you'll be eating it right away. If you wait at all and need to reheat it, the fish pieces seize up a lot or fall apart, becoming kind of small and sad. It also felt like there was less fish than usual, but I might have been imagining that because of the aforementioned effect.
google avatar

Sandy C.

Yelp
Delicious. Will come back here again to try other flavors but the squid wasn't grilled. It was fried.
google avatar

Desiree C.

Yelp
Good spot if you're like me sporadically craving Sichuan spicy pickled fish! If you don't know what that is and like to be adventurous, go try it!!! Located in Diamond Plaza in RH, so parking can get crazy during weekend nights. Lots of seating available, no need to wait. They maximize their space, so you may be seated right next to other guests. All ordering is done through your mobile device. Out of two other spots I've tried in SoCal, this is competitively priced. We ordered two soups which is a lot for two people. I would definitely come here again.
google avatar

Tiffany M.

Yelp
My life will drastically be affected if this place closes. There aren't many reasons I would willingly drive to diamond plaza and fight for parking but this restaurant has changed my life for the better. I've been here twice now but would definitely come back. Both times the wait was under 5 minutes on a Sunday and the restaurant seemed like it was consistently rotating customers. We've gotten the signature sun cai and fish and the flavor was delicious and loaded with fish pieces. Also got the triple delight in chili oil and it's one of my favorite dishes but I could do without the tofu skin. The super angus beef is the best! Both the golden soup and tomato broths tasted amazing and can't decide between the two of which one is my favorite. The tomato broth was rich and not spicy at all so it's nice to switch in between a spicy dish and this one. It also had tofu and the golden soup did not but the sour/spicyness of the golden soup was so good. Will definitely go back to try the lao tan. I love that they give rice but wish they would wait until the food came out since it starts to get cold. The service is great, the water is good, the restaurant is clean, and the prices are reasonable

Yelp
Bright and clean! Been on my to try list for a while. Good service! Justin is the best! He's very attentive. It might be fish with you but they also offer fish, pork, beef.
google avatar

Yelp
Fish With You is a clean, well lit, and casual eatery. It's located in a busy plaza where parking can be difficult to find due to the many popular restaurants in the area. The Super Angus Beef and Signature Suancai & Fish were my favorites. This restaurant is all about bold flavors, so you must enjoy them with rice. Our waiters were friendly and patient with my group. We had several requests during our meal, and they handled everything wonderfully!
google avatar

Callie N.

Yelp
The parking in this plaza is honestly pretty rough, but that's because this plaza is full of bomb places. Came on a Friday night, and thankfully the line wasn't too bad at all. My party had to wait roughly 5-10 minutes. The restaurant was clean, which is nice. The service was quick too! We ordered their Must Try, tomato broth, angst beef, and squid. The food came out pretty quick, which is amazing especially when you're hungry! I also want to give a shoutout to Justin or honestly, all the people who work here. They're so nice and patient. They truly made the meal here so much more enjoyable! 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
Great portion sizes and really savory fish soup! I just wanted to start this review off by saying I'm not the biggest fan of fish soup, but I thought the dishes at Fish With You were very good. Located in Rowland Heights, the journey begins with fighting for a parking spot to work up your appetite. It is a fast food style restaurant, so its great for a quick meal or sit down lunch. Once you are seated, you scan a QR code and place an order for your table. The food came out promptly so you could start eating right away. My favorite dish was the signature soup, it was savory and full of flavor going perfectly with the rice. And that bowl of rice is needed to balance out the flavor of the dish. The one person serving size could easily satisfy 2 people each. This soup was especially good for my at the time sick girlfriend who said that it healed her throat and soul.
google avatar

Jody H.

Yelp
Yum! I haven't tried a lot of restaurants offering sour fish until this year but this one was delish. We ordered the larger portion of the signature dish. It is supposed to be portioned for 2 people but it was a lot and could probably feed 3 people. It was the perfect amount of sourness and spicy/mala. I would say it's mild/medium spice - my boyfriend can't handle spicy but he was able to eat it and not think it was burning. Downside is that it's salty and you would definitely need rice or noodles. It's still a little too salty even with that but still good. The service was quick as expected. You can order with the QR code and the server will bring out the food. If i'm craving sour fish again i would 100% come back!

Yelp
Tried Fish With You for the first time and was seriously impressed! The signature pickled fish (sour fish soup) was absolutely delicious -- tender, fresh fish slices with just the right amount of sour and spicy kick. The pickled veggies were flavorful and perfectly balanced the dish. Portion size was generous and great value for the price. Clean restaurant, fast service, and friendly staff. Highly recommend for anyone craving comforting, flavorful Chinese food!

Yelp
Our server was so attentive and thoughtful. We came in with our toddler sleeping in his stroller, and he made space at the table for the stroller. After our son woke up, our server noticed and brought out a high chair and moved our stroller for us. When we accidentally spilled our soda, he brought out napkins and cleaned the table and floor. He then came out later with a new soda on the house. Truly exceptional service. The check in process was pretty simple entering my name and phone number and getting a text when our table was ready. On Sunday afternoon around 1pm, there were 5 parties ahead of us but the wait was only about 10 minutes. Ordering with the QR code on the table was easy and gave an instant confirmation when we put our order in with a loud ding in the back of the restaurant. We ordered the signature pickled veggie fish (招牌酸菜魚) and golden soup beef (1 person's portion each), and there was way too much food for 2 of us - we took about half of both to go. Both were delicious, although my wife (who's not Chinese) felt like there was a slightly stinky taste to the fish that she didn't love, but she liked the golden beef a lot. Our toddler enjoyed the taiwanese sausage. I loved all of it. Very affordable and great experience. I would love to return next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Omg! Finally a restaurant that serves this mind numbing fish that doesn't break the bank! You order at three front for take out or you can grab a seat and order from the table for dine in. Got the golden soup and the signature soup with added tofu and vermicelli noodles. Rice is ayce which you need to offset the heat of the dishes. Love that you can control the level of heat in the soup. The portion looks small but don't let that fool you because a single portion will get you full. Especially if you are eating rice with it. I'm so happy this is here. I'm addicted to this and will def be back to try other flavors.

Yelp
What a great place! I was in Diamond Plaza for dessert and saw Fish with you and made a mental note to try it next time. I have been really into fish soup lately, so the next time I craved a soup, I ran over to Fish with you. The restaurant is bright and has a good ambiance for a bite to eat. I have only been there during non peak times, but I can see it getting busy because the restaurant is pretty small. I have been here twice now and have gotten the green pepper fish soup, which allows you to pick a few toppings. I always make sure to get the noodles and mushrooms. The soup is also always so tasty and the fish is tender. Delicious for when it's cold, if you need a pick me up, or just want a soup. The added plus is that the staff is super nice and friendly. They also provide free extra rice and I always ask for extra soup because my noodles always seem to suck up the soup and they have always obliged. Super good place and will be back.

Yelp
From what I know, Fish With You is a popular chain in China, and this is its very first location in the States. How fortunate am I that it's just a short drive away for me! I'm always looking for new pescey friendly eats and Fish With You definitely delivers that and more. The food is stellar! Both the tomato and green peppercorn/mustard green soups were amazing. The tomato is not spicy and is less oily. I saw parents ordering the tomato for their kids and I can see why, as it's flavorful and sweet. Lots of fish and tofu are included for a surprisingly fair price. I did find it a little strange that you're only permitted two add ons (can't add more for an additional fee, maybe due to the bowl size) so it feels like a bad deal to pick anything but the two tofu options. I got one pot with napa and it felt silly, considering how much tofu skin I got for the same price in the other bowl. I would also love more tofu options as well (fresh beancurd/yuba pleeeeeaseeee). A good variety of trendy desserts are also available! I really enjoyed the fried milk, which was mildly sweet and not too oily. Mine came out together with the hot pots, so time your dessert order if you like to have your sweets at the end of the meal. BTW, the takeout bags are absolutely adorable and they're insulated too. I'm not sure if they'll always be around so definitely grab one if you're getting your food to-go.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday night with a party of 2 and was maybe 10th on the Yelp waitlist. Their service was pretty fast so we only waited maybe 15 min. I've been craving sauerkraut fish cause I love the sour and tangy flavor. The squid skewer was spicy, soft texture, and cooked well. I thought the Signature Suancai and fish was great! The large portion was perfect for 2 people; it had a ton of snakehead fish. I misunderstood the free side dish, I thought we would get to pick 4 free side dishes for the large portion, but in small letters the signature comes with 2 fixed free sides already added to the soup (a green veggie and yummy soft chewy potato noodles). I really enjoyed the signature, it was very rich, savory, and sour, and not too spicy. Great casual place to hangout and eat with a small group. The price is a big bang for your buck, a little less than $20 per person. I will definitely come back to try the other broths!

Yelp
Located in the center of Diamond Plaza, there are plenty of places to eat. Parking during rush can be a little hard to find, there are underground parking and the restaurant is conveniently located near one of the stairway. This place is well lit and bright, the limited selection of items available is all you really need. Like the name of the restaurant, they have a few selection fish and one for Beef. The menu and ordering is via QR code scanned on the table. Food comes out really quick and the portion is great for sharing. i really enjoyed the green pepper one as it has a bit of numbing effect. The soup is perfect to sauce the rice and you may be asking for second on the rice bowl. Staff was very efficient and helpful. Would like to go back and try another soup based. Highly recommend getting there early as there tend to be a wait during meal time.

Yelp
I picked up take out here for the first time. Very clean and nice indoor seating. The place is not too big with limited tables. I picked up a Laotan fish dish medium size. It came with 2 sides and one rice for $19. The portion is pretty descent and enough for 2 people to share. The fish and the broth were both tasty and flavorful. Definitely will come back to try the other items on the menu.

Yelp

Yelp
I love me a good boiled spicy fish. Everything in this place seems to be premade, which is the trend in fast food places in China. Very excited that this branch is here now. Food comes out quickly and the taste is great. Though, their spicy levels are pretty tame so that's one thing to note.

Yelp
Sunday around 130 pm is not busy. Many available tables. It's gets busy around 3 pm. QR code scan menu or regular menu with waiter / waitress. Service is pretty good. Dessert come before main dishes. It's food take awhile so don't to there starving. I ordered 2 fish soup (lemon and house special). Spicy level can't be adjusted but most spicy pepper place on center of pot, so don't mix it if you can't take the very spicy. Extra fee for additional toppings. Overall food is good. I would go back. Dessert do not ordered in advance but almost end of the menu. This way is still hot when your already

Yelp
I stumbled upon sichuan fish in Taiwan and was looking for a place here in 626. Found Fish with you and had high hopes with all the high reviews! I can gladly say I am yet again thankful for the Yelp community for living up to the expectations. Busy restaurant but got lucky as they had two empty tables so we got seated right away. They do have a few seats to wait in and outside of the restaurant, but I do recommend joining their Yelp waitlist during peak eating times. Hubby and I ordered their #1 which was the Laotan signature dish with basa fish, soy skin, tofu, Celtus, and fungus mushroom. You choose the type of fish (basa or snakehead) and 4 side options to throw in. We also got the lotus root cake which I thought was absolutely delicious. There's filling stuffed between two lotus root slices thats fried in batter. The portions are pretty generous. Its nice that they tell you how much it feeds. Their staff is also very attentive and quick. They were prepared to refill rice before we finished the bowl. The place is also kept pretty clean. This is definitely a good soot for those who know what theyre getting, but I don't think this place is for everyone as it's szechuan numbing spicy along with sauerkraut sourness. There are other options though like tomato. I'll be coming back to try their other dishes.

Yelp
A Rare WOW! I came here for an early dinner with a friend last Friday at 5:00 pm. The place was still relatively empty. It was our first time here, so we stood around inspecting the menu board, only to realize we were supposed to order at the table after being seated. The seating area is bright, welcoming, and clean. We ordered one regular signature suanchai fish pot, one regular spicy boiled beef pot, and the fried rice cakes with brown sugar sauce. The food came out quickly and in generous portions. Both dishes were very flavorful. The signature fish pot came with sides like potato noodles, napa cabbage, choy sum/cactus heart (?), and pickled vegetables. The fish in this dish was also excellent. The boiled beef was very flavorful and not too spicy (mild to medium). It came with plenty of garlic, bean sprouts, choy sum/cactus heart, and napa cabbage. I believe bowls of rice are free, and they offer refills. The fried rice cakes with brown sugar sauce were amazing! Crispy fried and drizzled with just the right amount of brown sugar sauce. It was perfectly sweet, but not overwhelming. The meal was fantastic, and the service was great. I can't wait to come back. We noticed there was a wait for seating by the time we left at 6:15 pm.

Yelp
I was around this plaza one night waiting for chubby cattle when I was walking around and this place smelled so good I knew I had to come back. I'm so glad I did! The food here is delicious and just adds to the list of reasons why this plaza has such amazing eats (no wonder parking is a nightmare on weekend nights). You can get a large bowl that feeds 2 people or get your own. Between the different dishes, you get to pick between basa fish ($14.95) or blackfish ($17.95), and it comes with two add-ons like tofu skin, napa cabbage, enoki mushrooms, and a few other options I can't remember. Don't like fish? don't worry they have beef plates too! I got the Green Sichuan Pepper and Signature Suancai fish and I can say even though both of them had 2 flaming icons, the latter was definitely more spicer and numbing which is what I like! Honestly, I wish there was a little more protein added on the dishes, but the flavors of everything else totally made up for it. Plus, every dish comes with a bowl of rice, absolutely perfect for soaking up all that goodness. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!
