The 14 Best Fish & Chips In Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This Central District spot serves four kinds of fish and chips: catfish, salmon, halibut, and tilapia. But the catfish stands out because it’s soaked in buttermilk, dredged it in a homemade blend of spices (that you can even buy on their website), and doesn’t have a super puffy outer fried shell—which means you really get a lot of fish in every bite. What makes an order of these even better, though, is that they throw in a couple of their crispy hushpuppies, too. It’s like when you find that rogue onion ring among your fries, except this time it’s on purpose." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, gabe guarente

The Fish Box Review - Central District - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This seafood spot in the Central District serves four kinds of fish and chips: catfish, salmon, halibut, and tilapia. But the catfish here stands out because it’s soaked in buttermilk, dredged it in a homemade blend of spices (that you can even buy on their website), and doesn’t have a super puffy outer fried shell that some English-pub style ones have - which means you really get a lot of fish in every bite. What makes an order of these even better, though, is that they throw in a couple of their crispy hushpuppies, too. It’s like when you find that rogue onion ring among your fries, except this time it’s on purpose. Besides, just fish and chips, they make a catfish “Sammich” with lettuce and tartar sauce on a bun that’s great if you have your mind set on something between two buns. And right now they’re offering delivery and takeout through their website, but if you call them for pickup, just know they’re only accepting cash or Venmo right now." - Carlo Mantuano

Nut allergy friendly: Left a note on the online ordering and we had no issues! We put in an order around 9:40PM on a Thursday evening and got a text promptly saying our order was ready for the scheduled pickup time at 10PM. Delivered to our car on arrival. For four people, we ordered: Seafood Sampler (4.5/5): A great way to try out their different pieces. My friends liked the Hushpuppies and I really enjoyed the oysters. Shrimp Box (4/5) Met expectations. Fries are a soggier style but the small pieces remained crispy. Just enough to keep you eating them. Wild Caught Cod Box (4.5/5) Great portions, solid breading (NOT battered) and pair very well with the house tartar sauce. We added four extra tartar sauces but ended up with four extra, so I guess we didn't really need more. Overall, excellent late night option in the area with great combo deals that keeps it surprisingly affordable.

Might be the best fish & chips in the city. Ordered the catfish meal which includes hush puppies + fries. So many spots forget to season their fish, but this place nails it! So flavorful. Tangy tartar sauce too which really compliments the fish. Also ordered collards which were amazing. Owner was super kind.. PLUS 1st timers get a free desert (get the pecan pie bar). I will definitely be back.

Super friendly staff and the owner was very personable. We enjoyed the sampler, hush puppies and shrimp box. Everything was fresh and crispy. Cheesecake was so fye! I almost forgot, that sauce was everything and more too! Wish I could’ve brought it back to Nashville.

🗣️Listen here! I’m from GA and am always looking for great food! Since moving to Seattle, I have only ordered from Catfish Corner, because that’s what my boyfriend introduced me to. I lucked up and found Fish Box on DoorDash!!! I live in Belltown and ordered via DoorDash! The food wasn’t hot by the time it got here (of course because it was delivery), but it was STILL amazing! I ordered the catfish and shrimp combo boxes and everything was seasoned so great! I dozed off and woke up eating more! I’m about to order some chicken wings. I will update this review as soon as I taste it! I can’t wait until you all open a storefront! You have a new customer! P.S. I’ll still go to Catfish Corner, because the owner is hot (🤣), but…okay, BYE! Let me order these wings before you all close!!! Update: I dropped my review from 5 stars to 4 stars. Here’s why. I ordered lemon pepper wings, garlic parmesan wings, the shrimp box, and a slice of the strawberry cheesecake. The food is seasoned VERY well!!! However, the wings need to be fried longer. They are too soggy. I find that a lot on this side of the country. Great taste though!

I had recently heard about The Fish Box and decided to visit on a recent Friday. I ordered online and went to pick it up. The storefront is located down some stairs on East Spruce between 20th and 21st for those who may have trouble locating the place. The catfish I ordered was really good. The catfish came in nuggets and they were lightly breaded and full of flavor. Like they say, their marinade got rid of any possible muddy flavor. The catfish came with a good amount of fries and a couple hush puppies rounding out a great meal at a really nice price. I hope to return soon!

If you're looking for show-stopping, soul-satisfying fish dishes prepared with care and served with heart - Fishbox is it. We had the joy of working with Ibrahim for our large outdoor community event in Rainier Beach celebrating the salmon migration and environmental stewardship. From the very first phone call, Ibrahim was warm, kind, and incredibly accommodating. He walked me through all the fish platter options with patience and expertise, helping us find a spread that would feed 100+ people and stay within our small budget. We ultimately ordered seven platters—catfish, salmon, and tilapia—and every single bite was absolutely phenomenal. People were raving about the food the entire day. “This is the best fish I’ve ever had in my life,” was said more than once, and we couldn’t agree more. Beyond the incredible food, what made this experience truly special was Ibrahim himself. He made me feel heard, supported, and taken care of throughout the process. He even helped us adjust the pickup time so we could stay on budget. It’s rare to find that level of thoughtfulness and flexibility these days. Fishbox isn't just a restaurant- it’s a gem of a place run by someone who genuinely cares about the community and the people he serves. Thank you, Ibrahim, for helping make our event so delicious and memorable last year. We’ll be back, again and again. Highly, highly recommend!

Google
Highly recommended. My family and I found FishBox thanks to a Google Maps search. When we arrived, we came across a Fish Box sidewalk sign. The sign clearly explains how to place your order. As visitors to Seattle, we instantly became nervous because we didn't know whether we would receive our food after paying online. GOOD NEWS: The doors to First Place preschool opened and we were able to meet the FishBox staff & owner, Ibrahim. BETTER NEWS: Their food was delicious! It was well seasoned and full of flavor. Also, your order comes with one free dessert. You can choose from the following: Brownie Bites or Strawberry Cheesecake. We had the chance to taste both. We ordered, two Sammich's and Shrimp with Chips. Be sure to ask for Ibrahim's signature tartar sauce. We look forward to seeing it available in stores. Our family is rating the FishBox one of the best seafood places we've come across. And we've come across a lot.

Google
I saw this spot on Instagram/Yelp so I had to try it out! I got the sampler and ordered online thru their website. The food looked amazing. Was happy it came with multiple sauces but the best was their homemade sauce. The fish was delicious, all equally great! The hush puppies was on the hard side, perhaps the result of driving ~20 minutes home. The fries were good. I’d definitely come back!

Yelp
The hype is real. My favorite fish fry and catfish in Seattle. But I haven't been able to order on their website since like October.. been searching on Facebook/instagram/Google maps and now here for an update. Can't find anything. Would love it if there was an update given on a platform about if and when they are open. I miss this place!!! lol

Yelp
How this place only has four stars breaks my brain, it's the most hipster focused, Amazin, small batch family run punch you in the mouth of the amount of flavor that you can possibly find. The fish seems to be caught about nine seconds before it enters my mouthole, it's juicy crispy, crunchy all the adjectives and it's run by a small family versus something. Conglomerate doesn't get any better than this. The service is pretty simple, as they even Cowork out of the basement of a place so you pull up wait for your food to be brought out and you go eat anywhere you want. I've eaten here so many times I've lost track and I'm always up for some po boys and fried catfish, YUM

Yelp
Was curious to try this late night eats spot, and called in my order over an hour in advance. I was told the food would be ready when I arrived 40 minutes later, but it ended up coming out an additional 40 minutes past estimated time. ( It would be helpful to be told the accurate pickup time even if there is a delay vs being told it would be ready in 5 minutes many times over). It was also very confusing which door to knock at but thankfully they are good at picking up the phone! Anyways, pickup delay/troubles aside, food wise the portions were good, fish was meaty and fresh, fries were fresh, sauces were good and loved the fish sandwich. We also had a small dessert added in to make up for the wait which was nice but way too sweet for me,.. but overall happy we got to try the savory items we got.

Nut allergy friendly: Left a note on the online ordering and we had no issues! We put in an order around 9:40PM on a Thursday evening and got a text promptly saying our order was ready for the scheduled pickup time at 10PM. Pickup is a call once you arrive to the site. Yelp
My fave catfish in Seattle! The fish is perfectly seasoned and the hush puppies are always perfect accompaniment to the sandwich. Love this place!!

Yelp
Are you guys even open anymore? I used to love this place but haven't been able to order for months

Yelp
I tried the fish sandwich, the red beans and rice, and the macaroni salad from Fish Box. I ordered delivery, so I'm not able to speak on the restaurant experience, but I had a great time with the food at home. The fish sandwich was delicious and crisp even after a delivery drive, and the tartar sauce was amazing. It came with fries as well. The rice beans and rice were good, but not my favorite. In contrast, the Mac salad was excellent and I will definitely be getting that again as a side. I'm very excited to try Fish Box again!

Yelp
A hidden gem (literally). Hot, piping, quality snackboxes available into the wee hours of the weekend and weekdays. After trying the well-seasoned, succulent catfish and other fried goodies with homemade tartar sauce, I don't know how or why I'd ever go to a fast food chain for late night cravings again.

Yelp
It was really strange that the Fishbox was closed before 6:00pm on a Saturday!!??!! Although their website said they were open until 2:00 a.m. It was a huge disappointing and somewhat embarrassing because I invited my family to this place for dinner.. only to go there and find it closed. It's always a good idea to double-check the opening hours, especially on weekends. I also tried to order online with no success.. at least I gave it a shot!

Yelp
Ordered at around 4:30 on Uber still waiting at 6 o clock for my food. I think the owner just gave up and stopped replying to my drivers phone calls. I went through 3 different drivers that tried calling fishbox and apparently fishbox did not pickup. I tried calling on my own and they did not pickup either. The second driver said that he called twice and the owner said he was not ready yet so it's not like they were not open. Third driver was able to get the order cancelled overall but no answer or anything from fishbox. Extremely disappointed since I've been supporting fish box for a while but don't think I'll be ordering from here again. Good luck getting out of the school kitchen with this type of service.

Yelp
Great value for money! Healthy options too. Nice service from attentive cashier! The serving size for the salmon fillet was generous and tasty. Loved that the place was walking distance to Burbank airport.

Yelp
The perfect late night spot. Ordered here after a late basketball game In the area and it was right on time. Tastes like my momma home cooking. And I love me some fried fish so this is everything to me and I enjoy that they bring the food to you. Great service.

Yelp
Ordering system and pickup is a little quirky, but customer service and great food (fun fact: Leftover fries and fried shrimp reheat beautifully in the air fryer) make it totally worth it! This was my second time ordering and I had another mishap because my order on the website somehow didn't reach the kitchen (I received a confirmation email and my credit card was charged). The guys at the pickup entrance were surprised when I thought an order coming out was mine and gave my name, and quickly explained they hadn't received my order but it might be a few extra minutes to prepare it because it was closing time and they were in the middle of changing the oil. I said I didn't want to put them to the bother when they were closing the kitchen (I know it's a hassle!) and they could refund me instead, but they said I should have my food. After a brief wait watching YouTube in my car, they brought out my Seafood Sampler, and had sweetly thrown in some extra oysters and shrimp and even a slice of cheesecake(!). That was totally unnecessary but awesome and a nice gesture of consideration. The oysters were just as chronchy-yummy as the first time I had them. They were the absolute superstars of the order! Where else can you get juicy delicious plump fried oysters at 1:30 in the morning?! The fries were very nicely seasoned and tasted fresh (no wonder...). The fish had a great flavor, but the batter had steamed a little on the 9 minute trip home and wilted a bit, and it was overshadowed by my oyster love anyway. The extra apology food ended up being too much to eat in one sitting, so I fridged the shrimp and carefully reheated them and some fries later in my air fryer. OMG, they were just as good as when they were super fresh! So if your food gets a little cold or soggy during delivery or the trip home, definitely know you can revive it in the air fryer. I should have tried that with the fish bites, but I think next time I'm just going to order oysters and more oysters instead, NOMNOM!

Yelp
Everything is great! I had the fries the shrimp the fish the fish sandwich I cant wait to go back!

Yelp
Impossible to find, we circled the block so many times and tried calling several times as well. Eventually we gave up and went somewhere else instead.

Yelp
This catfish sandwich is bomb!! Super crispy but flaky and juicy on the inside. The brioche bun makes it super light and fluffy. The Sammich is a great $10 deal that comes with fries all together. They're currently in a commercial kitchen so call in to order so you don't have to wait outside!

Yelp
I sooooo wanted to like this place. It's a black-owned business, and the Yelp reviews are good. Can't. The Yelp reviews led me far astray here. Ordered the sampler, halibut, and a side of hush puppies. First the good. The catfish bites were okay. They were good. Nothing to write home about, and nowhere near great. But okay good. The fries are the Dick's style wilted fries, but they lacked salt. They were edible. The halibut and salmon were bad. There's just no other word for it. Overcooked almost beyond recognition as fish--except for the strong fishy taste that permeated every piece of fish in the baskets. Certainly not the taste or smell of fresh fish. And so dry from overcooking as to almost be inedible. If I hadn't been extremely hungry, I would not have eaten past the first bite. I was super hungry, so I had a few pieces. So, it's edible. Barely. Hushpuppies were also way overcooked. A common error with hushpuppies is undercooking (raw inside), but that's not going to happen here because these things are cooked until they are barely edible. And they are a pretty small size for hushpuppies. The spicing in the breading has a good taste. That's probably what helped to make these edible. But there's so much potential here. With this spice and breading mixture, the food could be outstanding. Instead, it's cooked until it's as dry as a desert and practically inedible. And this is fried food. Loved the contactless payment via the Cash app or Venmo. Polite and upbeat phone order service. Polite delivery (they bring it out to you). Just wish the food were good because I believe in supporting black-owned businesses. I just can't support this one with bad food--at least not until they fix their massive overcooking problem.

Yelp
I've been going to The Fish Box for almost 4 years. Friendly service, and the food just keeps getting better. Hands-down they have the best fish, tartar, and hush puppies in the area. Accept no substitutes.

Yelp
Hello! I recently stumbled across this place while searching for seafood to eat. My friend and I are from out of town. I'm from Houston and my friend lives in San Francisco. We came all the way to Seattle for Emerald City Comic Con and let me tell you, our experience has been immaculate. We love everything about this city: the sights, the vibe, the people but most importantly the FOOD! We don't have a ride and we rely on uber to get around the city. We stay at an Airbnb close by Fish Box and decided to walk to the address. As we stumbled upon the address, I couldn't find any signs or where exactly I was at. I was pretty confused, and as a tourist, I was expecting a restaurant. I called the restaurant, and the owner, Ibrahim, guided me to facility where they cook. For those who don't know, Fish Box is a small and local business. They use the kitchen in a church to cook the food. We had absolutely no idea but Ibrahim still took our order. We ordered the Salmon Basket, the Shrimp Basket, and the carmel covered brownies. Everything was amazing. FINGER LICKING GOOD!! You absolutely cannot go wrong with this place. Truly a hidden gem! The portions and the price is, in my opinion, completely fair. If you're not full, then that's your own fault!! The salmon melted in your mouth. The hushpuppys were not too soggy or greasy, just right. The shrimp were flavorful but not overpowering. The fries were delicious. Everything was crispy and cooked to perfection. We are big fans of local businesses. Extremely fortunate to be able to come across this place while on vacation. We cannot wait to travel back! We will definitely let everybody know, who travels up here, to check y'all out! If you are in the area, you NEED to stop by! -From Daniel and Gabby.

Yelp
This place is order ahead only and they bring it out to the sidewalk when its ready. I didn't know that, walked over to order. Couldn't find the place, but a lady on the sidewalk helped me out. She was very nice, might have been the owner. I ordered the Sampler - a box with fried catfish, salmon chunks, shrimp, french fries, and hushpuppies. About 15 minutes later, the same lady brought my food out and mentioned that she included a pecan pie bar for free. I was very touched by her kindness because I had been flying ALL day and was so tired. It was so sweet to have that human touch and for her to go the extra mile when she didn't know me from Adam. So the food was good. I enjoyed the fish and the shrimp. The breading was crunchy and tasty. Fried salmon is new for me and I like it! The sauces are very nice... especially loved the hot sauce! The hushpuppies were the real stars. As a Southerner, it's so hard to find decent hushpuppies in restaurants, but there was literally nothing to criticize with these. They made me smile. The pecan pie bar was reminiscent of pecan pie. If you order it, you'll get a pecan layer over the standard pie filling layer (a sugar and syrup custard), and that is on top of a cake layer. You probably won't find anything like this in the South, but kudos on the creativity. All in all, the food was 4/5 but the kindness was 10/5. Best of luck to these restaurantuers.

Yelp
I've been on a fish and chips spree lately, and this place was naturally on the rotation just from the name. It did not disappoint! I had the basic fish box with a battered white fish, fries, and some fish balls. It came with house made tar-tar sauce and a hot sauce. The fish - 4/5. Well made, appropriate portion size, tasty, still crispy. Wasn't the greatest I've ever had, but it was also delivery so it was not quite the same as if I had ordered in person and ate it the moment it came out. It could very well have been 5/5 fish and chips. The Fries- 4/5. They are fries, cmon, what can I say. The Tar-Tar sauce- 5/5. For sure this is made in house, and it was the bee's knees. Had thousand island dressing mixed in, or at least that's what I thought it was. GOOD STUFF. The price - 3/5. Yes, this is expensive for a relatively small box of fish and chips, but I also understand in these trying times that the cost of products has gone up and they have to raise prices to match it. While I understand, $16 or $18 that I paid for it felt high, and I'd say the price point isn't a strong point but I do not think this was them gouging the customer, but rather the unfortunate reality of the cost of operating the business. I won't hold the price against them, but I'm also not gonna say I'm happy with it either. The Fish Box is SOLID.

Yelp
DELICIOUS food -- If you can find it! This place is tucked in at the side of a school down a little staircase -- I only found it from the other people waiting for orders. He'll bring the food out to you -- a bit of an odd setup but worth it! Also, when one of my sandwiches was missed once, I called and they quickly delivered it to make things right. I hope this restaurant is able to expand in the future!

Noah L.

Yelp
Super nice dude, working hard staying up late making some crazy good food. Easy 5 stars

Yelp
This was the best 1:00 a.m. decision I've ever made. They delivered quickly, the food was hot and boy was it delicious! They forgot my sandwiches but I called, they apologized and delivered the missing items super fast. The seafood had a perfect crunch to it. Perfectly salted, delicious batter and fresh tasting seafood.

Yelp
Delicious and hit the spot. I got the sampler which is a combo of fried halibut, salmon and catfish, hush puppies, and seasoned fries. The hush puppies were the standout, and I'd definitely order them in the 10-piece. The sampler only gives you three - they are small and I wish I had more. The salmon has a lightly smokey flavor and quite yummy. And the other fish was seasoned and well made too. The fries are limp - not my style, but my partner liked them. Remember to bring your phone with you because you'll need to call when you arrive. I was quite confused when I got there because I didn't know pick up is at the side entrance of the school. I wish they would put a sign in the front of the building directing where to go. They also have 2 phone numbers, and the 206-771-2510 is the one to call when you arrive for pick up. My only constructive criticism about the food is not having enough tartar sauce. They gave me 2 tiny packets of tartar sauce, 2 tiny packets of ketchup, and a tiny container of hot sauce. I could have used about 3-4 more packets.
google avatar

Yelp
The Fish Box is amazing. Truly, the sandwich was probably the best fish I've ever eaten, it was moist, and flaky and perfectly seasoned. The fish literally melted in our mouths. So good. The hush puppies were delicious, well seasoned little nuggets of potato-y love. And the salted caramel brownie was better than my own recipe that I've been perfecting for literally YEARS. Most importantly, these guys are SO KIND. Our car battery died on the hill as we were attempting to leave, after eating our delicious dinner, and they were nice enough to give us a jump so we didn't have to wait 3 hours for AAA. I can't rave enough about them, and we will be back for years to come because of their generosity of time and effort. Thank you kind workers at the fish box!!

Tyler B.

Yelp
Food was bomb and had great value! Ordered the Shrimp Box N Catfish and got 2 full plates of food for $22. Everything was well seasoned and the fish had the perfect tender/crispy ratio. Get the special sauce and house made hot sauce and thank me later.
google avatar

Gatalina S.

Yelp
Halibut fish and chips were amazing! I love the fish to fry ratio... not too greasy and a tasty crunch. The fish was tender and flaky and paired well with or without their house made tartar. I will definitely return and spread the word about this place! New to eating hush puppies but I demolished all 3 in my plate... :) Location: Was a little confused... but its located in the school off 20th and spruce. Door is near the colorful crayon fence outside the building! Can't miss it. We ordered from our car and it took a solid 10 mins to get hot and fresh food! Online order may be the easiest way to place your takeout but they happily took it over the phone. Thank you for a tasty dinner!

Mad Y.

Yelp
This place has the longest wait times of any restaurant I've ever picked up an order from. They will always tell you "it'll be right down" and "the order is almost done/ready" but be prepared to wait...an unreasonable amount of time. I live right around the corner and every time I pick up an order I don't leave until 15 minutes After the expected order time yet I still usually wait an extra 15-30 minutes on top of that, outside, and come across many customers in my same position, waiting a long time for a simple order. I would only recommend ordering if you have all the time in the world to wait and nothing else going on. Service gets two thumbs down.
google avatar

Timothy L.

Yelp
Little hidden gem away from the main road. Seafood takeout kitchen located at a backend of a church preschool. One man - kitchen operation! Recommend ordering ahead as it can take 10 min or so. Take out only! You have to wait outside the premise for your food. I ordered the sampler and shrimp box. Really crispy flavorful variety of fish (cod, halibut, and salmon) served with hush puppies and cajun spiced fries. Shrimp box was fried perfectly; not dry. Make sure to open box ASAP so food won't get soggy.
google avatar

Amy T.

Yelp
I ordered off doordash and when I got it, the fries and catfish fish were still crispy! They were both well seasoned. The fish was cooked to perfection. Crispy in the outside, soft and flakey in the inside. I would defiantly order again. Delicious 10/10
google avatar

Peter W.

Yelp
Dame, that is great fried fish. Especially after a drink or three, you order some tasty fried food to line your stomach. You pull up to a community center building. You think, "is this the place?" And then a dude emerges from the side, basement door (after a text) with tasty food. Love this.
google avatar

Karen W.

Yelp
I really wanted to enjoy this food. I always try to support black owned businesses when I have the option/opportunity. I ordered a little bit of everything. Creating our own "sampler". We had Fish, shrimp , hush puppies, mushrooms and desserts. Everyone loved the desserts. Everyone enjoyed the fried mushrooms. Im glad I ordered two orders of mushrooms. The fish was like nuggets, it was just ok. Tasted more like swai than catfish. The Shrimp was standard. I do think the prices were pretty high for the actual quantity of what you get. If I had ordered that fish box as my meal I would have been quite upset or still hungry. But on a positive note I'm happy to see that quite a few people gave good reviews. And I wish them well and continued success.

Yelp
Solid late night takeout option a la Dick's but with fish! I was satisfied with my meal and would order again. I'm someone who gets nervous and picky about the quality of fast food fish, and I can safely say this is good quality. Kinda disappointed by the fries/confusing pickup experience (I wish they had a sign telling you where pickup will come out from), but no dealbreakers. Pros: + The Sammich is great! The fish is delicious, its seasoning was on point, and the bun was great. I don't know what a few other people are talking about with the dry fish comments on Yelp - even after 15 mins of driving home, my sandwich's fish was crispy on the outside yet tender on the inside. + I loved the tartar sauce here - it is now made in house and is super flavorful. I only used half so I could keep some for a homemade meal later! Not at all your typical mayo-type tartar. + Server who handed off my food was nice and efficient. + Easy to order online. + Quicker wait time than expected - it's long for fast food (40-50 mins) but my meal was ready at the quickest end of the time estimate range given to me by the ordering app. Cons: - Fries are not what's pictured online/in other Yelp photos. The seasoning was good, but the fries I had were the dry crinkle cut kind you find in cafeteria. Not sure if they're switching the fries up permanently, but bringing back the fries in all the other Yelp photos would make me a more frequent customer. - Long wait time for fast food, 40-50 mins. - Pickup is different because this isn't a restaurant, but a commercial kitchen. The address is a school, which confused me at first. This doesn't matter if you're ordering via a delivery app, but if you're doing pickup you have to park outside and call the location. I waited outside for 5 minutes after calling, but worried I wasn't in the right spot. I don't care at all that there's no store front (especially with overhead costs these days), but it would be nice if there was signage pointing out "Fish Box Pickup Here". Tips: * Pickup comes out of the left side of the building address listed, shown in the photos of this review. * The Sammich seems to come with fries - I didn't see this while ordering so added a side of fries, and ended up with two!

Yelp
I really used to like this place but something after New Years changed. They seem extremely unorganized. The food is always good, but there is no transparency around the kitchen and the customer service is good at times and others seem not to care at all. Especially when they're busy. I am a business owner. Today I found a 20min window to eat. I timed getting there to pickup my food to a Tee and even waited on the steps. I arrived on the dot and was told it would be at least another 15mins maybe more. Not the first time, but I couldn't flex that time today as I was only available for the time planned. I never know when or if I'll ever get my food. It sucks more when you like the place. Makes you feel like as a customer the value isn't mutual.

Yelp
Best fried catfish we've had in the area by far! The breading is tasty, well spiced and not too heavy. The tartar sauce is on point! There's some extra spices in there so it's not just mayo and dill. The hush puppies used to be overdone, but they fixed them and now they're the perfect consistency. That really impresses me as you can see they care about feedback! The fries and desserts are just ok. They do season the fries, but I think there could be more flavor. The desserts are a bit on the sweet side and have a sort of powdery texture. Commercial kitchen without seating or counter. Give them a call and they'll help you find them. The folks bringing out the food are always friendly and you can tell they're doing their best to be quick. They're trying to raise money for a permanent space, so give them a try! Still 5/5 because the service and catfish is that good.

Yelp
Probably the best fried fish sandwich I have ever had and I've had a lot! Tender and juicy it melts in your mouth like butter. The breading and fry is perfect and the roll is fresh and delicious. Their sauce is not regular and by that I mean it is very unique and goes above & beyond. They are take-out only and be prepared to wait a few minutes past the time they tell you it will be ready but it is worth the wait!

Yelp
The location is at a school and difficult to find. Food was supposed to be ready in 9 minutes and took an hour. Had to wait outside in the cold weather with 3 other people for food.

Yelp
Unfortunately I didn't like the whiting. The skins on it are soggy under the batter and it doesn't taste great. The hush puppies are good but I wish I tried the catfish ... will do that next time.

Yelp
To be honest, ordered delivery. However for the price the food quality and quantity just didn't justify the cost. Got the sampler

Yelp
Amazing delicious fried seafood! Shoutout to the fish box for having an amazing giveaway. Everything was slaps and really delicious. Shrimp and catfish was fried with perfection. Wings really enjoyed who doesn't love wings? Southern pecan was to die for and best thing I ever ate. Lumpia and the sweet chili sauce was good crispy and crunch. Thank you the fish box

Yelp
I heard about the Fish Box on Yelp and decided it was worth a visit. I really enjoy southern cooking. The comfort zone on Rainer Avenue is pure heaven. Since the Fish Box doesn't have outdoor seating and Seattle weather is becoming iffy, several months passed before we managed to go. We both ordered catfish sandwiches, which you do by phone and then wait outside until your food is brought out. The young man who brought out our order didn't give me the impression that he cared if we ever returned. While the catfish is delicious, the whole experience was blah. I truly hope that their business thrives, but I probably won't be back.

Yelp
If I could give ten stars, i would. This restaurant/kitchen deserves all the praise and respect in the world and I will do my best to tell you why. First off, I don't eat seafood. I am from Hawaii and the only seafood I will eat is ahi straight off the boat. I have had catfish before but never liked it because it was either grainy or smelled bad or both. I have had shrimp before, but am now allergic as of 20 years ago. I liked shrimp before I became allergic but I never loved it. My boyfriend, Tommy is the person who turned me onto this place. He found this place because he works for Door Dash. He orders from here all the time and he is the person that convinced me to take a chance and try this place. I have to tell anyone who is reading this when I took my first bite out of the cat fish, it was like a flavor storm in my mouth. As they say, so good it makes you want to slap your momma. No disrespect to anyone's mother, just trying to convey how amazing it is! Perfectly seasoned, fries are hand cut and perfectly salted. BUT I HAVE TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE BEST PART. THEIR SAUCE, OH -- THEIR SAUCE!!! I could iterally not be hungry and have been in that situation but still want to eat their food because of their homemade sauce. I don't know what they put in it, but they should seriously market it because I would buy a year worths supply if I was not concerned about it going bad. Now the shrimp - as I said previously, I am allergic and even when I did eat it, I never loved it. This is how good the shrimp is - I would take a chance and get an allergic reaction if I did not have my medicine with me.... SO MOUTH WATERING! Flavor and crispiness are on point. The only complaint I have is that I wish they would take off the tails, but eh - no big deal. The hush puppies! So crispy and delicious. Tastes like they came from a grandma's kitchen in the south. Lasty but definitely not least, the pecan cheesecake. Crust is perfect - not too hard, not too soft - the perfect consistency. Cheesecake with pecans - not too sweet, just sweet enough to be flavorful and amazingly delicious. Keep in mind, this is a kitchen, not a restaurant. No indoor seating, inside a church, located in a residential neighborhood. Owned by the nicest guy. I have called myself a few times - my bf orders a lot on his own. He is always super friendly and pleasant and obviously happy to have so much business SO GIVE HIM MORE. He completes deserves ALL THE BUSINESS. I promise you won't be disappointed and if you don't like or eat fish or seafood, you will be once you try his food!

Yelp
Decided to check out this place. Since my partner is catholic and can't eat meat on Fridays and man this place didn't disappoint. The portion sizes were huge and the prices were quite reasonable. You can feed a person for an average of $10. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Me and the wife were looking for late nite grub after a long day of partying that went on until 1a. We ended up creeping around a random residential corner in the CD like "is this the place?" Found the sign and put in an online order and a sweetheart of a guy brought us out some delicious and affordable fried halibut, salmon, catfish, hush puppies, and fries. It's kinda random and weird as a location but the food is legit! I hope they make a million dollars with this little business.
