Delicious, fresh & well worth the drive & traffic! A colleague of mine wanted to take me out for lunch, & we decided on this spot with no regrets! The line was ridiculously long but it was worth the wait. The menu is a little pricey for fast food, but again, its fresh! I'll definitely be back !

This place has been here as long as i can remember. The menu is simple. They are usually fast getting the food out. I do enjoy their fish and shrimp plate with rice. Its a good portioned meal. Definitely getting what you paid for. I frequent this place often.

Freshly battered bad frozen fish! Unseasoned, tastes bad, this was an awful experience. 22$ for bad fish and stale fries! For god sake it is called fish and chips, if you can’t provide good quality ingredients, then you shouldnt be in business!

Locals said this was the best, so I tried it. At first, the place didn't look that special, but I have learned not to judge the book by the cover. Wow, the fresh branzino was amazing! Seriously the best fish I've ever eaten. They only have outdoor seating, which is something to know. The location isn't the prettiest. But honestly, the food makes up for everything else. It was so fresh and tasty. The service was also quick, which was nice. Don't let how it looks at first trick you. This place is all about the delicious seafood. If you love fresh fish, you have to try it. The fresh branzino alone is worth going for. You won't be disappointed.

After shopping at the flower district we headed to the Fisherman's Outlet for lunch it took us couple of minutes to get there to the restaurant. The restaurant is a historic landmark in downtown. We walk in the restaurant it was busy but not that busy we look at the menu display very thing is fresh seafood including they have a seafood market next door selling fresh fish. My wife and I decided to order the fish combo with shrimp and we choice rice instead of fries two drink and carrot cake. It took couple of minutes to get our order we went outside and grab a table and we sit to enjoy our seafood meal. The fish was amazing good it was tender and fresh and the shrimp were good including the sauces come with the meal. The rice pretty good also. The carrots cake was good also.

Love this place pick your choice of seafood and they cook it on the spot. Or take some fresh seafood home. A market and restaurant in one.

What I Ordered: -Fisherman's Combos: 1. Fish and Shrimp Combo with French Fries and Coleslaw $21.45 -New England White Clam Chowder (Large) $9.25 Serving Fresh Seafood in LA since 1961. They have over a dozen different kinds of fresh fish items on the menu. They are known for the Fried Fish and Shrimp Combo with French Fries and Coleslaw, Charbroiled Giant Shrimp with Garlic Butter Sauce, Chowders: New England Clam Chowder (White), Fisherman's Seafood Chowder (Red), Lobster Bisque. I opted to get the Fried Fish and Shrimp Combo with French Fries and Coleslaw. It came with two pre-sealed sauces which included Cocktail Sauce and Tartar Sauce. It was okay. I like fried fish, but the batter is too heavy. It took away from the natural flavor of the fish and the shrimp. I wouldn't recommend the Fried Fish and Shrimp Combo. I wasn't a fan of the fries. I noticed many people ordered the rice instead of the French Fries. That seemed like a healthier option and the pro move. The coleslaw was pretty good. I liked it! I think I made a rookie mistake here and ordered the fried option instead of the charbroiled option. I really didn't enjoy the Fried Fish and Shrimp Combo as much as I thought I would have. I wasn't a fan of the breading of fried fish and shrimp. Despite the price, you get a healthy portion size of seafood. The highlight of meal was the New England Clam Chowder (White). It came with oyster crackers and packets of tabasco sauce. I would have liked some packets of pepper to go with the soup. As a native New Englander, I'm a huge fan clam chowder. This particular version of Clam Chowder came out piping hot and it was creamy and loaded with fresh clams. The price tag can seem like much consider the size of the large soup, but when you factor in the vast amount of clams. You know you are getting a high quality product. I highly recommend the New England Clam Chowder (White). Next time, I come I want to try the Charbroiled Shrimp with Garlic Butter and the Lobster Bisque. You place your order at the counter. The staff were very helpful in recommendations for us indecisive folks. The restaurant is not in a good area. Very close to skid row! Very sad to see so many folks living like that all around. You may see some of them loitering around the restaurant. However, I never felt unsafe as they have a security guard present. There's plenty of parking in their parking lot. I'm looking forward to coming back here with my family.

Ordered the fish & shrimp plate combo + a small cup of clam chowder, was delicious! The tartar sauce it comes with was also excellent and surprisingly the fries were great as well! Overall can't wait to come back - it was a great seafood place for fresh fish and centrally located.

The place to get quick seafood in DTLA. Fish and chips, fried seafood - oysters , shrimp you name it plus charbroiled fresh fish or have it fried with a few sides along with your choice of sauces to go with it - do the Cajun!. It's on the border of the homeless area but is very safe as they have a large customer base of our pride of the city LAPD. Be prepared to wait as service is a bit slow but everything is cooked to order. Tip order ahead and cut the long lines at this famous fishery.

Fisherman's Outlet; Market is Best place here in Los Angeles fifth and Alameda although it may be a bunch of strange people walking around with baskets. The restaurant is very clean courteous kind. I've been coming here for over 30 years. Simply the best when you're ever in the downtown area.

I've been eating at this joint since I was a child, so this review is overdue by a lifetime. To this day, I still order the same plate. My parents would buy this as a treat (back then it was a little over $10 and now the plate is $19.80); they would head out to DTLA to be there early when it opened because this place gets crowded and I would have it for dinner when I got home from school. Even reheated it was bomb. First off, if you've been here, you know this place doesn't even need a review. IFYKYK. All the locals know this place and if you work in DTLA, you know to get there early because of the lunch crowd. Now for the review of the noms... The fish and shrimp plate is my go to. As you can see, it comes with three pieces of fish and a handful of shrimp. The fish is fresh, never had any issues eating here. Also, you get fries and coleslaw. The coleslaw is a must - it's my fave coleslaw. I always order an extra side of that. The combo plate also comes with cocktail sauce for the shrimp and tartar sauce for the fish. If you don't want the fries, they will sub out with another coleslaw. I haven't tried to sub the fries out for anything else. Everything in this combo is delish, it reheats well in the oven. Their New England clam chowder is also tasty. It comes with the crackers if you're into that vibe but I just have it plain. The pictured size is a small order. Now for the tips...You already saw to get there early if you go on a weekday. The line moves pretty fast. They do take credit cards but they will ID you. They have a parking lot with ample parking unless you happen to get there at a really busy time. I went on a Saturday and it was surprisingly dead. ‍ There is a bit of metered parking, just be aware of the transients around you. If you show up and there's a line and you contemplate the other fish joint about 1/2 to 1 block away, just keep your ass in line at this place. You'll be disappointed at the other joint. In sum, a lifetime of yumminess in my tummy. Go get your fish on. For those of you needing healthier options, just remember you don't get another life but you can go with some charbroiled options.

Family was craving Grilled Fish & I found this spot on Social Media...we were not disappointed...the Clam Chowder was hot & full of Clams...I had the Grilled Branzino with fries & aunt had Grilled Trout...it was a great lunch & I will absolutely be back

Saw something on Instagram about Fisherman's Outlet and it looked pretty damn good to me! Stopped by on a Saturday and thankfully the line went pretty quickly. Sometimes I feel like a fry-up, so I went with the deep fried fish and shrimp combo with rice. Well, they sure don't skimp on fish or shrimp, that's for sure! The fish was pretty good quality and the shrimp didn't disappoint. Very good fry-up. And for the price, it's quite worth it. Staff here and friendly and extremely efficient. If there's a line, don't worry because it goes super quick. Can't believe I've lived in L.A. for so long and never heard of Fisherman's Outlet until this year. Definitely need to come back!

I visited this place last Thursday. 9/21/23. I ordered grilled shrimp with rice. The food didn't take that long to come out. The shrimp were cooked butterfly style and XL size. The food was all bland to my liking. However, they provide the Cajun sauce on the side alone with salt and pepper inside the utensil packet. I did not like the rice either just tasteless. We also ordered fried trio and that was tastier. Perhaps it was bc it was fried. All the food was fresh however. The Crab plate was huge! Again no taste you must add to it to make it right. In my opinion. The tables were clean outside. I saw a gentleman cleaning after people left.

Nostalgia hit hard when I came here. I hadn't been here in over 20 years. The restaurant has not changed, still packed with people, and small, yet efficiently quick with orders. The last time I came, one of my nursing school classmates hooked us up because her husband worked here. Over the years we lost contact, I did look to see if anyone working looked somewhat familiar, nonetheless I didn't recognize any aging faces. The food was exactly how I remembered it. Fish and shrimp plate with fries or rice, simple and delicious! Tartar sauce is a must for me. The Clam Chowder bowl is full of clams and yummy potato chunks. No matter how hot the day is, everywhere I go I have to try the Clam Chowder if it's offered. There's a parking lot behind the restaurant, street parking, and they also do phone orders if you want to do a drive by! Lol. Everything we ordered was delicious. It's fresh and seasoned well but at the same time there's nothing major. It's your simple fried/grilled seafood. We ordered the tuna, calamari, grilled shrimp and soups. The clam chowder and lobster bisque was good. I liked that they didn't add lard or any pork products. Leftovers hours later was still good.

Variety of plates ! Parking lot is limited so try to come at a dead time during the week. Line also gets pretty long but is definitely worth the wait. Orders are taken at the register but they are quick with it, service is on point. Seating is all outside so depending on how busy will determine if you can catch a table. Def a staple in Los Angeles to try!

I hadn't been here for ages so I stopped by for lunch on a Wednesday. I was happy to see it so busy. There was a long line to order lunch. I went over to the other counter where they sell fresh fish to go and ordered a crab and shrimp salad and clam chowder. It was quick and good. I heated up the clam chowder as an appetizer for our Valentine's dinner! It was a hit! Skip the side of bread if getting the soup.

I hadent eaten here in years, decided to try today. We ordered a fish/ shrimp combo & fish/ scallop combo. They give you plenty of fish ,( 2 nice size pieces) shrimp,scallops. However! It is completely tasteless! I mean zero flavor. When you serve any seafood- it has to have SEASONING. We had to stop eating as it was tasting like air. No lip smacking,ginger licking. In fact I threw some of my fish to the cute brown birds.Even tried to doused the shrimp with tartar & hot sauce. Not good.... while they serve plenty- they need to put more emphasis on seasoning their food. The coleslaw was also bland.

Haven't been here in years! The lines are always pretty long but once you order, food comes out quick. Two lines, one side for cooked food and everything else and the other side for fresh seafood, cold food & soups only. The clam chowder is still absolutely delicious as I remember. The price for a large clam chowder under $10 and better than you'll find at most restaurants. The cooked seafood portions aren't huge, but filling. The Garlic Butter Sauce is my favorite. Free parking in their lot & gentleman monitoring the outdoor tables keeping everything clean. Fast, casual, clean (very clean inside & outside) spot for fresh seafood.

I used to go here 20 years ago. The food is more hype than good. I won't go back fish isn't well seasoned and batter it's fried in isn't seasoned as well. If you want hot sauce that cost extra. They should be begging you to take hot sauce to add a little seasoning to the entrees. I work close but won't go back. Prices aren't great either.

Such a unique find out in Los Angeles! This little restaurant is on the edge of the arts district and little Tokyo so there is barely any traffic and a lot of open parking! On a Saturday during lunch it was pretty busy but the line moved fast. Although it was busy the workers were in such a good mood and were super nice! We got the fish plate and the shrimp with fish. They were both so good. Fish and chips is a comfort food that is so good. This place does the panko style breadcrumbs instead of tempura style for the fried fish plate. A little expensive but well worth it honestly. You'll spend about $23 for one plate but it's about two meals in one plate!

Parking: Parked on the street for about an hour. Food: I rarely get seafood as a casual meal so this spot pleasantly surprised me and my coworkers. I opted for the charbroiled sampler plate and asked for half fries, half salad. The salmon, shrimp, and lobster were cooked so well and the garlic butter was the perfect sauce for both the seafood snd fries. Be prepared to spend $20-30 per plate. Ambiance/Service: Very casual outdoor dining area, but everything's shaded! The line around 1pm was pretty long but the workers were super efficient taking orders and bringing out the food.

I have been coming here for over 20 years, when they changed ownership or reopened the Flavor is completely different in a bad way, i dont know if its the oil or the recipe but it was horrible we spent over 200$ to throw the food away. Not coming again.

This place is super pricey and wasn't the greatest. I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to just come eat here but if in the area it's not too bad to stop and eat.

And the most delicious food ever would go back there if I could every week love the lobster tail love the shrimp. Everything is delicious.

Our friend who used to live in LA, told us that we HAD to go here. So we did. We showed up about 45 minutes before closing. I was a little worried but everything was fine. My wife got her fried shrimp and fish and the serving was big enough for three people she ended up throwing away a lot of it, but not because it was tasting bad, there was just too much food and she very much enjoyed her lunch! I ordered the seafood cocktail which was supposed to just have shrimp and seafood in it because I don't eat octopus. However, when I started into my shrimp cocktail, I tasted something weird and they had given me the version with octopus in it. I wasn't very happy about that. One of the specials that day was swordfish, which is one of my favorites so I ordered that with the Cajun spice and some rice. It was fantastic! This place is the real deal. You can't go wrong with dining here or picking up some fish to go and cooking it at home. Their fish market next-door is also amazing if I lived in LA I would not purchase fish anywhere else.

Came for the first time on MLK at around 2:00PM, and I agree with the reviews when they say that calling ahead IS the move. Although the line for walk-ins moved fairly quickly, it doesn't beat the convenience of having your order ready by the time you get there. Obviously this came with some of the downsides of my experience. I was told my order would be ready in 15-20 minutes, and I came within 18. Was able to get a table and eat my giant shrimp and scallops combo with rice right away, and was disappointed to find that the rice was plain cold. Nevertheless, the charbroiled shrimp and scallops were delicious. They provide Cajun and garlic butter sauces which are an awesome complement to the seafood and a slice of lemon. You have the option to choose one side from rice, salad, or fries with cole slaw. The food itself was great, but maybe next time I'll call ahead, and get there a bit earlier than told to make sure that my food doesn't go cold in the back. Parking: they have a very small lot for handicap only I believe, but there is plenty of street meter parking.

With 1k+ reviews, I can see why. This place is popular and PACKED. I had no idea it was even an iconic landmark. Apparently it's been here since the 1960's. Definitely a place with a lot of history! I didn't get a chance to really read the newspaper clippings about the restaurant displayed inside, but there were a lot of them. For sure the play is to CALL AHEAD and pick up. I wish we knew to do that since that would have been the sure fire way to skip the lines, since I didn't see anyone in line for phone pick ups. From checking in to getting our food, it was about 40 minutes in the scorching California heat. There is ONLY outside seating, but most of it is in the shade with the umbrellas. Unfortunately, since the line was so long, a lot of it was NOT in the shade and in direct sunlight, which I'm sure is not a pleasant experience. Aside from their seafood restaurant items, they have fresh seafood for purchase at their deli side too. We got the: 1) Ceviche + Chips: -Large cup of ceviche and some nacho chips (reminds me of the round ones you get in your Lunchables, but not as salty). -Lots of shrimp and fish chunks along with diced tomato and onions. -Not too acidic or sour. Good stuff, they do not skimp out. 2) Lobster Bisque: -Comes with 2 small bag of oyster crackers. -We got the large size of the soup and with all the food that we had and the summer heat (the soup came out hot and STAYED hot), it was hard to finish this, so we took this to go. The soup condensed a bit the day after, but after some dilution it was still super good. -Nice, yummy bisque. Good tomato flavor without being too overpowering or sour. Creamy with great texture and lobster bits in it too. -I'd say this is on par with what I have had at Disney, but a fraction of the price. -A MUST get. 3) Original Sampler: -Sampler includes: fried shrimp, crab cake, and cat fish strips. -This comes with the option of choosing one of their 3 sides. We got the fries and coleslaw. -Coleslaw came in a small cup. I thought it was just alright as a non-coleslaw enjoyer. -Generous portion of fries. Not super crispy, just alright fast food quality. -All the fried seafood was breaded and fried nicely. Good amount of fried shrimp and cat fish strips. Tasted great dipped in cocktail and tartar sauce. -Catfish was moist and super fluffy on the inside and I'm not usually a fan of their crab cakes, but despite being dense with filling, it was also nicely fluffy, like a very high quality croquette. -Great option to choose if you're not entirely sure what to get! Despite how miserable the wait was, it gave us the perfect seasoning: increased HUNGER and the food was delicious and filling. I would definitely come again (just maybe during colder weather or doing a phone call order).

Food was pretty good, generous portions and prices were also good for seafood. However I not sure it's worth waiting 30-40 minutes for it. Plenty of patio seating with a huge parking lot. Not in the best neighborhood but they do have security in the parking lot. If you're in the area I would give them a try. Not sure I'd drive over 30 minutes to go here.

Got hungry for lunch and went to eat with the family. We ordered salmon with butter and garlic, clam chowder soup, grilled shrimp and fried shrimp on a bed of French fries. Garlic bread and coleslaw with raspberry tea. Delicious experience will come back again despise the line. The place gets busy but it's worth it.Clean place and easy parking.

I've been going to the fisherman's outlet since I was a young child. I love that it takes me back so far. It's a very special place to me. My parents used to take us to this location once in a blue moon. It was our special outing. My dad got a shrimp cocktail and mahi mahi. My mom got some mahi mahi with rice. My brother and I always got fried scallops with a side of French fries. I loved the tartar sauce dip. I dipped my scallops and fries in the tartar sauce and it was the most flavorful combination. The French fries there were the best French fries ever. I used to put lemon all over them and let them get a bit soggy. Then dip them in tartar sauce and go crazy. Then I'd move onto my dad's order and drink all the juice from his cocktail. Good stuff.

Fisherman's Outlet is iconic. A DTLA landmark. An LA food staple. I have been coming here for years and their food is consistently good. I just went yesterday for the first time after not having gone in a while and it was heavenly. My go-to is their Charbroil Sampler- salmon, skewered shrimp, and a large butterfly shrimp, with rice. Before they used to ask which sauce we wanted (garlic butter or cajun), but now it automatically comes with one of each. Love this because both are delicious and I can never decide! Lunchtime can get pretty packed but don't let the long line deter you- they are quick and it's worth it, trust me! You can also call and order ahead. Another tip- don't even bother with the other seafood restaurants in the area! Fisherman's Outlet is the best far above and beyond the rest!

The best grilled fish and that butter! ‍ I wish I had a big enough stomach to eat everything on the menu, but this gives me an excuse to come back for more! Came here on a coworker's recommendation and boy it was worth it, came 15 mins prior closing and still was able to put in an order, after that they chain close the gate and make sure no one sneaks in. I would've added a pic but food was so good that I didn't care to take one!

Food was very good, very well cooked, portions were at point with price. Great choices. Service could be better, or at least more friendly. I don't know if the person who helped us was having a good day. We ask for suggestions, we told him what we liked and he just ordered us the fish and shrimp plate. He did not suggested other options.

Solid spot for no frills seafood downtown. Plenty of outdoor seating. Had the shrimp & scallop combo with garlic butter and fries. They satisfied the craving for some quick seafood. Security guards are on site to prevent pan handling. Street parking is easy.

I have been coming to this place since I was a kid. It will never change, and my mind will never change - it will always be my highest rated seafood in LA! It is split in half with half being a restaurant and half an actual fish market. With that being said you know all of your seafood items are made fresh and brought in fresh daily. Hands-down favorite menu items would be the clam chowder, fried shrimp, fried fish, garlic bread, grilled garlic shrimp, and their sauces. Everything is made to order so it comes out hot and fresh with everything seasoned to perfection. All seating is outdoors On their patio, and they are located right on a triangular shaped corner so you get the best views of the hustle and bustle of downtown while enjoying your meal. Also it gets a little crowded during lunch so you might have to save a table and have your friend stand in line and order the food. It is a must stop every time I go home to Los Angeles.

It's been a while since last i ate the food from this place. Back in the days we would have someone picked up food for us from this place, we would order takeout and eat in the office. I must say we are really are disappointed!!! The food seemed to be not the same quality and the quantity is a joke ! The price skyrocketed, which is understandable, but you don't get what you paid for. We could have gone to Red lobster restaurant for what we end up spending at this place, with a much better ambience, LOL The service...well..it's fast 'coz there's hardly anyone there. It use to be regardless the day and time it was always a long wait for your order. It's outdoor patio like...but not in a best area of LADT Balls in your court...you decide!!!

Food is pretty good. Prices are a bit high and the customer service is not great. They have a bit of an attitude if you ask questions and will not deviate from the menu in any way even if you are willing to pay more.

Definitely worth the try. It's labeled as a Los Angeles landmark restaurant. They have a parking lot and street metered parking. All dining is in an outside area with an overhang. Apart from ordering at the counter for your food, they also have the counter to buy fresh seafood right next door if you want to cook at home. We ordered the charbroiled sampler (salmon, jumbo shrimp, skewered shrimp), fried sampler (catfish, shrimp, and crab cake), seafood soup, clam chowder soup, and garlic bread. Nothing fell short of tasting great. The samplers come with your choice or rice, fries, or salad. The rice is a rice pilaf so it definitely pairs well with that seafood. The fried shrimp etc. is not heavy on breading and still great not to have that old fry oil taste. The seafood is not completely over cooked. My salmon was still moist and flaky with shrimp still having that nice firm texture unlike when it's over cooked and becomes mushy. Flavor doesn't lack here. You also get good quality for the price considering most places in LA would charge a much higher price. Seafood doesn't taste old with that ocean taste.
