"With island art on the wall, colorful chandeliers, and mannequins decked out in Trini carnival costumes, you would think Flambo is putting on a production you might find across the street at The Met. Luckily, you won’t have to keep reloading the Ticketmaster page to get your hands on an order of blackened shrimp sauteed in a buttery, peppery sauce and stewed chicken drenched in a tomato sauce—the Center City spot is pretty open when it comes to reservations. When you stop by, go for the curry chicken dhalpuri. The takari dish wraps strips of firey chicken, slow-simmered chickpeas, and grilled onions in a warm flatbread." - candis mclean
Where To Get Food From The African Diaspora In Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation
"With island art on the wall, hanging chandeliers, and mannequins decked out in Trini carnival costumes, you would think Flambo is putting on a production you might find across the street at The Met. But unlike the opera house, you won’t have to keep reloading the Ticketmaster page to get your hands on an order of blackened shrimp sauteed in a buttery peppery sauce and stewed chicken drenched in a tomato sauce—they’re pretty open when it comes to reservations. When you stop by, go for the curry chicken dhalpuri. The takari dish wraps strips of chicken, chickpeas, and onions in a warm flatbread, and the first bite into the warm pouch is so good that you might start playing mas. " - Candis Mclean
The Most Exciting Caribbean Restaurants in Philly | Eater Philly
"Flambo’s menu represents a wide range of Trinidadian cuisine including items influenced by African, Indian, and Asian cultures. Whether you order one of the restaurant’s many curry, fried rice, seafood, or poultry dishes, be sure to pair it with the buss-up-shut – a soft, layered, and flaky roti." - George Banks-Weston
Flambo Caribbean Restaurant Review - Fairmount - Philadelphia - The Infatuation
"Flambo sounds like a really bad remake of Rambo that maybe stars Guy Fieri, but it’s actually a really solid Caribbean restaurant in Fairmount where you can get a huge dinner for about $20. Add in a couple of drinks - you bring the alcohol and they’ll add some Trinidadian peanut punch - and you still won’t even get close to the budget you promised yourself you’d stick to." - Sydney McElwee
Flambo! Trinidadian and Indian make a fantastic pairing of excellent flavors. I took a Trinidadian local with me to verify the authenticity. He said, "This is what I ate as a child growing up on the island!" Yes! Authentic! The bartender Eloy was excellent, pouring drinks and telling us the origins of the restaurant. The food was excellent! Vibrant rum cocktails are a must try! Enjoy!

I came for lunch to try them out during Restaurant Week. I loved it. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned, and the portion was just enough for lunch almost too much for me. My server Anthony was very attentive. I will be back in the future .

The music was amazing and the drinks. Kevin the owner is handsome and super friendly and Arjun. The DJ Lionel was good he had my sisters and I jamming. Now the server Jeremy he was not professional and very forgetful and I think he needs to be retrained. He did not inform us of simple things, for example the carrot cake they offer came Warm and I don’t prefer warm cake so I asked that it not be warm, he brought the cake FROZEN not explaining that it comes cold ! That was literally my last straw with him because I put up with his childlike behavior and whatnot. He seemed high to be honest. We asked for ice and he said that he had to ask the bartender but then proceeds to tell us he’s planning to get drunk , and the boss should know he said they sneak drinks in the back.

Trinidad dishes excellenty prepared. Full of the flavor and taste that brought back memories of some of the best Trinidad dishes. Curry goat, Buss-up-shot, ox-tail, phoulori with a wicked tamarind sauce, all perfected. Nothing to complain about here. The Flambo presented way more than I had expected.

2nd adventure to this Restaurant. Elo was such a great host and bartender. The pepper shrimp and tropical splash(tan tan) are my go to. Such a great fusion of Caribbean cultures. And just found out they have doubles!!!

Enjoyed a great time at Flambo! Atmosphere was nice with great Caribbean music playing at a good noise level. Our server Ky was quick and attentive making for a great experience. We tried the restaurant week option, consisting of the coconut shrimp, curry goat and gulab jamon. Everything was super tasty and would definitely come again! Photos are of my leftover curry goat (that I am very excited to reheat)

I will not be returning. I feel like I got taken advantage of. Look at the picture. This is not $70 worth of food! I got there at 12:30 today and left after 1 waiting for take out. Imagine my shock when I got home and these were the portion sizes. The food is good but I wont be coming back. I’ll stick to my trini ppl back home in NY
