This place has been on my bucket list since it opened, and I finally made it over with a gal pal for a Monday night cocktail!
HIDDEN ENTRY: Flora Room is located beneath Porzana - you'll want to go to Porzana, walk along N 2nd Ave, and back behind it you'll take the staircase down. You'll see a light above a door next to the dumpster (yes, really) and enter this speakeasy space from there!
AMBIANCE: 5/5
This is the star of the show for sure. Dark, moody, botanical, and green with live plants - the decoration and vibe is immaculate. So cozy and great for date night or evening night caps!
We were the first to arrive on a Monday night, so had our pick of seats - I highly recommend a half-circle booth. They have bar seating and 2- and 4-tops in the middle. You can even enter the glass space where plants hang along the back wall and find a few high-top tables in there as well.
DRINKS: 5/5
The cocktails are very playful and eclectic. I LOVE that the specialty drink menu has hand drawings of what the cocktails look like and have in them - I always want to see what they look like before ordering! I had to go with the Alsace because I'd seen awesome pics of it, but we had a hard time choosing. Alsace was amazing - and my friend enjoyed her cocktails, too!
SERVICE: 3/5
This was a surprise - for such a tailored experience, the service was confusing. We had 3-4 different servers throughout our time there - and inconsistent periods of time would pass between getting checked in on so we had to flag someone down to order food and another round of drinks. It felt so strange that we didn't have an assigned server, and service was very abrupt.
FOOD: 4/5
We ordered the fries and two handrolls - we loved the fries, and the handrolls were really good! They were a bit smaller than I expected, but still fun and fresh. Their food menu is pretty limited, which I don't mind, but wish they had more easy apps/shareables for folks like us just wanting to sip cocktails and snack on something.
PRICE: 4/5
Oof, those prices are steep. One of the cocktails is $30, and most of them are in the $18-$24 range. Each of our small handrolls were $9. The cocktails were so cool, but it felt cost-prohibitive to have more than one during our visit. It was fun to come and experience it, but not sure I'd be back for anything other than a celebratory single cocktail.
