"I was sorry to learn that Flora Bar, Ignacio Mattos’s upscale, critically acclaimed seafood restaurant in the Met Breuer’s basement, will not reopen after a four-year run; Mattos announced on Instagram that the new Frick Madison will not include the restaurant and he did not disclose a reason. During its run it attracted praise for specific hits like its shrimp cocktail, described as having “astonishingly fine flavor and texture,” and a tuna tartare that Pete Wells wrote “isn’t like any I’ve had before.” The restaurant was included on city best-restaurant lists by critics such as Ryan Sutton and Adam Platt, and pastry chef Natasha Pickowicz earned James Beard recognition (semifinalist in 2018 and 2019 and a finalist in 2020) in part for her work at Flora Bar." - Erika Adams
