"For a quick, delicious sandwich, treat, or coffee, head to this excellent mini-chain (with eight locations in total) that serves great breakfast and lunch options, including a warming miso tofu noodle bowl, avocado toast with cotija cheese, and the absolute best sticky buns in Boston (and maybe on the East Coast). With kid-friendly vibes, this is a great place to eat in or grab a coffee and a bright, flavorful lunch to take to the Esplanade for an impromptu hang. photo credit: Tina Picz" - Tanya Edwards

"This local bakery and cafe chain is the spot for breakfast sandwiches. Get one on a house-baked roll with a runny egg, arugula, and bacon. Room for dessert? Flour’s sticky bun is one of Boston’s iconic dishes. [Counter service]" - Terrence Doyle

All you knead is love! I totally felt the love and passion put into Flour Bakery + Cafe, from the interior design, the overall atmosphere, and staff members. The staff were so knowledgeable off their products and were able to give me recommendations on what to try too! (Hint: you can’t go wrong on what you pick). I was only in Boston for three days, and yes, I stopped in every day of my visit. I love a good bakery and Flour Bakery is hands down one of the BEST bakery’s I’ve been too. I tried several things (see pictures). Everything tasted spectacular. Thank you Flour Bakery for all the deliciousness and such a wonderful experience during my visit in Boston.

Google
Happily reporting a great experience at another Joanne Chang establishment! Flour has one of my favorite breakfast sandwiches in the Seaport (the Breakfast Egg Sandwich with bacon or ham as my preference, but you can also get it with sausage) and I love their french toast, which is a thicker french toast and it's amazing. I'm trying to show restraint, but I definitely want to taste all of the bakery items they have... As an update, I’ve also tried their brown butter cinnamon roll which is 10/10. I love their banana bread too because it’s super moist and dense, but not heavy.

Google
In addition to some familiar pastries, they have unique flavorful items like apricot scones, lemon ginger scones and strawberry pop tart! Pastries include savory items like cheese scones. Their devil foods cake truffle is addictive! Light and moist on the inside with a delicate shell on the outside 👌🏽several breakfast items like avocado toast and egg sandwiches freshly made. The espresso in their coffee drinks is bold and smooth. Cozy welcome environment. Friendly and helpful service. Overall great spot for breakfast or coffee and pastries/desserts. Quieter on weekday early mornings - very busy around lunch time. 🍉 ✌🏽

Google
Delicious! As usual! The sticky buns are the best! Cinnamon rolls are also delicious. Had the Avocado Toast this time and it was good!

Google
This location was super busy, even at opening. There’s a self-ordering kiosk at the entrance and plenty of seating inside and outside. I tried the Brown Butter Rice Crispy Treat ($4.80). Good deal because that thing was huge. I’ve only ever had Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats; this was definitely different. The vanilla flavor was very strong, and the texture was interesting (kind of reminded me of crispy oatmeal, oddly). Wasn’t bad, but I probably wouldn’t get it again.

Courtney Fung

Google
I ate the Smoked Carrot Hummus sandwich which was on special. It was probably the weirdest sandwich I've ever had, but in a good way! Such a unique flavor combination. I love that the menu is clearly marked for dietary restrictions, including vegan and dairy free options.

Google
Nice enough space and food. There are only a few vegan options and pastries available. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re vegan, very limited options but probs very nice for vegetarians. I got the pistachio almond macaron and cauliflower curry wrap (naan makes it vegetarian and not vegan). The curry wrap was oddly sweet, I think it was the coconut cream, so I didn’t like that flavor but the rest was fine. The macaroon was VERY sweet and dense but delish all the same. Fast and helpful service, they explained which items I could and couldn’t get.

Google
Delicious food and great service, as always. I was here a lot when I lived in Boston before 2020. Our family are coming back for the chocolate cream pie. Food and service remain amazing. Thumb up for the friendly staff!

Jenny T.

Yelp
Food: The cauliflower melt was soooo good and filling! I recall having it a few years ago in college, but it tasted even better after reuniting with it. Literally melt in my mouth! Service: I ordered online so the food was ready by the time I got there (through the app). Ambiance: Super busy on a Sunday afternoon with families lol, but they offer outdoor seating as well. It felt SO good to reunite with Flour!

Alexander B.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot - lots of menu options for different levels of hungriness and taste buds, solid coffee, and many fresh pastries. The ordering process is very simple and quick with the touchscreen right at the entrance. I got an avocado toast which was done fast and tasted fresh. It's decent size and comes with an egg and peppers - yum! It wasn't that expensive either. Definitely recommend!

Jim D.

Yelp
I flew five in half hours to partake in this culinary experience and it was worth every calorie! I was there for the annual PEGS conference at the Boston convention center and this gem showed up on my Yelp search for close coffee shops. Executive summary: Service:5/5-when I did interact with the staff they were nice and helpful. Depth of the menu:5/5 Flavor:5/5 Good for groups: 3/5-made for to-go work This coffee shop unlocks the door to flavor town in two prongs. Delicious coffee and tasty pastries! When will I return to this flavor town hideaway coffee shop, not soon enough!

Jim C.

Yelp
We chose to visit Flour based on a YouTube review that claimed it offered the original Boston Crème Pie. Ours tasted like Boston Cream Pie and Tiramisu had a baby. We were disappointed.

Alexandria H.

Yelp
If you are in the Boston area you have to stop by this bakery. I was looking for a good coffee and found this place on Yelp. So I knew I needed to stop by and it didn't disappoint. It was so tasty I told some friends about the bakery and then we went back around lunch for them to give it a try. Trust me give this place a try if you're in town.

Brooke C.

Yelp
It's so cute in here! I tried the housemade rhubarb seltzer and loved it. I liked being able to order on the kiosks. I was bummed that my first drink choice was out of stock, but the seltzer was fantastic so I'm not complaining!

Yelp
Amazing food, I had the roast beef sandwich and tasted the cauliflower curry . Both very tasty the bread is soft and fresh. Also had the banana but bread and the chocolate pie . Only reason 4/5 is their ordering system seems unorganized. You can order at kiosk and get a number but you have to stand in line at pick up area. The restaurant is so small that it felt crowded. One staff also seemed super stressed that people aren't hearing their names and were sitting instead. But food wise it was amazing . Definitely a place to go to

Katie H.

Yelp
Only giving 4 stars because they don't offer their famous sticky bun at this location and that was the primary reason we came to this spot. We did end up ordering the Boston cream pie which carried that "I've been sitting in the refrigerator for a couple of days" taste and did not seem to be house-made. As for the drinks--we loved our hot drip coffee and you can't go wrong with their iced matcha latte (vanilla syrup and oat milk for me please!). Oat milk is an extra $0.75 but flavored syrup is included. We stan Flour for being both woman- and Asian-owned and for their typically carefully curated delicious baked goods, sandwiches, and drinky drinks. However, this location was slightly disappointing for food! Service was great and we were able to find a seat on a chilly Saturday. You can either order on the convenient kiosks or in person at the register--and don't forget to bus your own plates!

Malissa B.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop in Boston. Yummy bakery. Fast service. Everyone was working hard.

Kevin L.

Yelp
Looked for a place near me, we come to the convention center every year for PAX East and to visit friends. I was pleased to see how many vegan and gluten-free options were available! I love the BLT, and my Wife usually gets a salad with one of their vegan pastries. Check em out they have different locations around Beantown.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast and it was packed. Got a coffee (okay coffee) and a raspberry seltzer. The raspberry seltzer was very good but a little on the sweet side. Banana bread - a little more heavy and dense than I expected. I liked the banana intensity but it was a bit sweet. Lamb panini - the braised lamb was very tender and did not taste gamey. I'm not a huge feta fan but the creamy feta tzatziki was very good. I also got a little bit of spice from the banana pepper jam. This panini is a must get!

Calvin D.

Yelp
Recommended by Huckberry.com. Didn't disappoint. Interior ambiance is nice, plenty of seating, and a ton of options for food, pastries, baked goods, and coffee. I ordered a standard latte, a hot crossed bun, and steel cut oatmeal. Everything was perfect and hit the spot. Definitely recommend and I'll certainly be returning.

Gina M.

Yelp
Food- Boston cream pie was delicious! It was the right amount of cake, custard, and chocolate. Would have tasted better had it been colder. Found the slice to be a little warm. Service- not welcoming Ambiance- coffee house vibes with plenty of seating. Would recommend trying the Boston Cream Pie!

Yelp
Flour we hit you on a bad day. I am certain of that. Visit was on a Thursday in December around 10:00. When we entered I was surprised to see so many empty tables. We chose to order on the in house kiosk. 4 diners. 2 brewed coffees, 1 hot chocolate, one specialty mocha. One hard boiled egg, one avocado toast, 3 orders of French toast & a slice of banana bread. The hot chocolate, specialty mocha and hard boiled egg were delivered very quickly. About 20 minutes later the avocado toast, 10 minutes later the underwhelming French toast. At the 45 min mark I went to the now swamped counter and inquired after the 2 brewed coffees and piece of banana bread. 50 minutes from ordering a cup of black coffee to receiving it.... in a to go cup not a mug The employees were working their tails off. Kiosk orders, in person orders, online orders and what appeared to be large catering orders ( heading out for delivery in wagons). I think you have too many balls on the air. Because it was not my first visit I am giving 3 stars and will give you another shot next time I am in the area. Happy Holidays your employees are swamped & doing the best that they can.

Yelp
I absolutely love coming to Flour whenever I'm in town for work. Their chive scone is something I dream about, and the homemade poptarts are such a treat! The staff at this location is super friendly, too. I've never had an issue getting in and out before 8am on a weekday, but not sure how it is on a weekend. Either way, worth the trip for the treats!

Ayall S.

Yelp
Stopped by for a slice of the boston cream pie (based on reviews); they didn't have any. What a shame and waste of my time.

Mallorey S.

Yelp
I ordered a salad to go and it did not disappoint! The Greek chopped salad was truly delicious and loaded with olives, feta, and banana peppers which are all some of my favorite things. Service was amazing and my salad was ready for pickup in less than 10 minutes. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming though I did take the salad to go. Next time I look forward to trying some of the pastries!

Iris G.

Yelp
Everything is a vibe here - super bright, always busy but they're quick with service. Their iced mocha is rockin' and all of the eir pastries are dynamite.

Jon T.

Yelp
Flour is my breakfast go to when working in the seaport. Why? The weekly vegan muffin. Each week, they will have a different flavour. I've had blueberry, double chocolate, and a couple others I can't remember. But the best, the holy grail, is the banana chocolate muffin. The taste is out of this world! But be warned, this is a mightily sized muffin. I soon realized half was more than enough for a single serving. But who doesn't like bonus for later?

John H.

Yelp
Going to Flour makes me so happy. It is the perfect spot for a casual breakfast or lunch without the long waits. Food: - Cold brew: delicious with that bitterness of a strong cold brew - cinnamon roll: it's just a slice of heaven. I dream of that icing that they use. It's not overly sweet and just perfectly balanced - Egg sandwich: one of the best. That horseradish spread and fluffy bread is an unbeatable combo - Apple spiced cake: absolutely loaded with nuts and fruit. Super moist The vibe is a low key and casual. Decent amount of seating inside though it's tight. Some outdoor seating available as well. Like all spots in Seaport, there is very limited street parking but there is a garage across the street.

Annie D.

Yelp
I went here twice on a recent work trip to Boston since it was right by hotel. First time I got the breakfast sandwich and chocolate brioche, both delicious! And then the blackberry lime seltzer, also great. The second time, I took my coworker, and got another breakfast sandwich and the lemon ginger glazed scone alone with the lemon limeade. I don't think you can go wrong with anything from here! I'll definitely return if I stay in the area again!

Linh V.

Yelp
It was just an okay baked goods in my opinion. I ordered the sticky bun and the nuts weren't crunchy and very sweet to my taste. Hot chocolate likely was my mistake decision. Overall, good to try but not a second time for me.

John A.

Yelp
I'm a big Jo-Jo fan! She may not realize I call her that, but it's out there and I mean it with the most respect possible. To still be going strong after opening this many places speaks to the depth of her bench and her strength as a businesswoman (and Chris helps too I'm sure). She has created something wonderful here. Many know about the cakes and the amazing pastries (oh the doughnuts). I'm a consistent taker on the hummus sandwich -- the carrot and cucumber crunch balance the smoothness of the hummus. The jicama in the chicken sandwich is genius. Yeah you could go to Tatte, but why? Now if I could only coax them to the South shore...

Connie L.

Yelp
More like a 3.5. Flour's cake slices are such a guilty pleasure. If you haven't tried it already, you MUST try their mousse layer cake slice - soft, semi-sweet, light, and chocolatey, what's not to like? There's also plenty of tables and free wifi which is perfect for hours of studying. The only downside to Flour are their drinks are just ok (the matcha latte had hardly any flavor and the powder was clumpy). I'd come back for the pastries but not their lattes.

Shana C.

Yelp
Great location, wonderful food, atmosphere and staff. I plan to go back when I'm back in Boston.

Emily S.

Yelp
I loved their sandwiches here! Their brioche chocolate pastry was also very buttery and soft. Flour is perfect for a casual meal in a cafe-restaurant hybrid. Service was quick and accommodating. Can't wait to try more sandwiches!

R M.

Yelp
I swear that a bunch of yelp reviewers are giving restaurants in Boston better reviews than they deserve. Got lured into the hype of this place is just an ordinary cafe shop with fancy names to their sandwiches. Most of the ingredients seem canned the chicken was dry and sauce seemed premade. Walked a mile to come here and wasnt impressed. Whoever feels this is a 4 star rating or more must have never been to a real 4 star performer and those that give 5 would probably think theyre in heaven when they actually go to a 5 star place. Makes me wonder how anyone would think this place ranks any more than a 3.

Jacquie S.

Yelp
The food was great and the service was quick and efficient. We visited two locations during our recent visit to the Boston area! Breakfast and baked goods snack!

Simon W.

Yelp
Great desserts! An invitation to a dinner party meant I needed a bakery to pick up some desserts. After a quick chat with my server, the recommendations included the Triple Mouse Cake, Berry Bread Pudding, Coconut Creme Pie & Boston Creme which were all were winners after dinner. Please note they don't stay open late so keep that in mind if you visit to get there early!

Melissa S.

Yelp
Counter service, breakfast/bakery/lunch cafe. The chai latte is delicious. Was very busy when we were there around 11:30.

Shannen D.

Yelp
This Flour Bakery is great. The staff are some of the friendliest people and their food never misses. When the Children's Museum around the corner closes to clean between 12 and 1, it becomes incredibly crowded. Otherwise, I've found this location to be a wonderful place for a quick breakfast. There's always a line of people just before they open in the morning.

Masmin P.

Yelp
I had the best chicken tikka naan sandwich here- the chicken was tender, juicy, and had a great balance of flavors, while the bread was soft and fluffy. Good size too. Very craveable. The sugar brioche was also delicious, like a large muffin-shaped donut.

Nickee K.

Yelp
Nice little spot to stop by to relax. The staff is very polite, the food is good, and the place is relatively accessible by foot.

Nick C.

Yelp
Nice place with high quality desserts. I got 3 cake slices (all $6 each), a double chocolate cookie ($3) and a raspberry crumb bar ($4). My favorite cake was a toss up between the carrot cake or coconut cream pie. The carrot cake was heavy which is what I prefer and the cake itself was nice n sweet, along with the great frosting. The coconut cream pie had a unique, tropical flavor that I haven't tasted before. It was very good. Now the Boston crème pie slice was okay. It was airy, but didn't have much flavor. The top chocolate layer wasn't anything special. The double chocolate cookie was bomb. Not very big, but had a nice rich flavor with plenty of chocolate chunks. Unfortunately, the raspberry crumb bar is overpriced. It does have a pleasant buttery crumb topping and uses real raspberries, but it's tiny and at $4, not worth

David M.

Yelp
Fast, cheap and tasty. I came at the recommendation of my friends. Orders are placed at the cashier and a few minutes later food is delivered tableside. I enjoyed the Egg Sandwich which featured a beautiful soufflé egg patty. The bun was just okay. Cookies are fantastic. Insider's Tip: Stake out a table outside on a nice day.

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
Sticky bun, sticky bun, it's all about that sticky bun. I was already excited to try it, but then they asked if we wanted it warmed up. Um, yes please and thankyou. We had a few minutes before a museum tour, so we actually had a full breakfast sandwich and sticky bun situation. They weren't too busy, but the steady stream of folks was a nice bustling vibe. We waited 10-15 mins for food after ordering, and then got to dive in. I had thought of this as more of a breakfast spot, but actually, I think lunch is kind of their groove too. Take a look at the sandwich menu and don't shy away from it for lunch. It was a good breakfast, punctuated by the sticky bun which is all the sugar you'll need for a day of walking around Boston.

Ryan C.

Yelp
Came here looking for breakfast off of some more internet recommendations. Opted to come for a late breakfast because I read that it's super packed between about 7-9. They were right because there was a good amount of seating available inside. There's some seating outside too but it would've been crazy with how cold it was that day. There were a few people in line so we opted to order on the touch screen right near the front door. I read that the sticky bun is a must get so obviously we got that (warm), granola + oat milk, breakfast egg sandwich with bacon, an orange juice, and an iced vegan mocha. Everything came out pretty quickly but note that if you order on that kiosk, you're stuff will be packaged to go. Mocha was pretty good, couldn't tell the difference between the vegan one and a non vegan mocha. Orange juice was good too, what you would expect. Sandwich was a pretty good size, lots of arugula and loved the dijonaise on it. Gave it a nice kick. Granola was ok, basically like a cold cereal (maybe more healthy?). Sticky bun came out pretty hot which I liked, not huge but very sugary and sticky, loved the toasted pecans. Very solid breakfast for our first day in Boston! I can see why it's so busy. Theres so many options so my next visit I gotta try something else.

Collin W.

Yelp
We used this for our team lunch where we had to accomodate a lot of different people's preferences and restrictions and Flour came through for us! The food was great tasting, arrived early, and everyone was filled with the nice sized portions. If i'm in the area again, this will be on my top lunch list for a place that serves wholesome food quickly and with a lot of flavor!

Colin D.

Yelp
Came here just for dessert with the kids. The kids loved their brownie. We had the Boston cream pie and it was very good, but didn't blow my mind. I did really like the fact that it wasn't overpoweringly sweet. I kind of wanted to try the sticky bun which everyone raves about, but they apparently run out of those about noon and we didn't arrive until about dinner time.

Demeka F.

Yelp
I went here for my boyfriend's birthday cake, and the cake got rave reviews! The cake was fancy enough to see it was from a real bakery and the fact that it was gluten free was even better. I was confused with the only menu and the pdf menu on whether the cake was also vegan, but otherwise, everyone enjoyed it and I would go back.

Katie N.

Yelp
Great coffee and probably one of the best breakfast sandwiches ever! They use a Dijonase that was unique. Order from the kiosk to get slightly faster service. It's a little small inside.

Bianca S.

Yelp
Delicious! I went to this place years ago when it was in the back Bay Area. So glad to see they opened another location. Food is just as good as I remember. We ordered at the kiosk and a server brought our food to the table.

Michelle L.

Yelp
Cute bakery tucked away on a quiet street. We got the banana cream pie, strawberry frosted cupcake and a chai latte. The chai was really strong - I added some oat milk and sugar but still felt that the chai overpowered. The cupcake frosting was too sweet for me, and nothing special. Overall, the desserts were average but I'll probably come back and try more popular items next time

Catherine C.

Yelp
Egg sandwich and muffins were delicious. Banana bread had the perfect texture and wonderful taste. Coffee was great too. Ginger scones are recommended.

Regis H.

Yelp
Good breakfast sandwich spot- I'd go again. We tried the breakfast sandwich with ham and the BLT. Both pretty good. Service was fine- you take a number after your order and they bring food to your table. It was crowded at like 10am or so when we went.

Alex B.

Yelp
The sticky bun was delicious and super sweet! When I had it from a larger takeout order, it was perfect for sharing since you only need half to be satisfied.

Yvonne Z.

Yelp
Gave this place a try based on reviews. I ordered the beef roast (not toasted) and the tofu salad and would say both were just lacking in taste to me. Might come back to try their desserts but probably won't come back again for the brunch food.

Adelyn L.

Yelp
Stopped by for brunch since I've been reading so much about the sticky bun. The line took about 20-25 minutes even though I started right near the door so I would say it's pretty slow for a bakery. I do have to say the guy taking the order is super friendly as well as the staff member bringing me my food! I got the sticky bun and breakfast sandwich. The breakfast sandwich is good but I think it's missing something that will make it pop - like a sauce or something? I do understand there was aioli in there but a bit muted. The egg was nice and fluffy - the way I like on a breakfast sandwich. The sticky bun wasn't warm when I requested it to be heated up and it was a tad bit hard .. overall I enjoyed the breakfast sandwich more!

Fred M.

Yelp
I've always been a big fan of Flour Bakery Met my son and DIL for breakfast after they got off the red eye from LA I'm a cookie aficionado and theirs are very good- the oatmeal raisin brown butter blondie, ginger molasses and chocolate chip were all perfect in a to go bag I always look forward to their sticky buns but these were to up to their usual standards The ham and cheese croissant was also pretty average compared to usual Still a great bakery but like most places post Covid they've yet to find their former greatness
