Fond Review - East Passyunk - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Fond is exactly what you want out of a neighborhood restaurant: it’s a little corner spot with big windows and sidewalk tables for when it’s nice out, it’s always full, but you never have to wait more than a few minutes to sit down (even if you don’t make a reservation), and the contemporary American menu changes all the time, but everything on it is great. If you’re trying to be a little less casual, they also have five and seven-course tasting menus, but we typically just come here for some oysters and drinks." - Sydney McElwee

Fond on East Passyunk Adds Brunch for the First Time - Eater Philly

"Back in October, Fond on East Passyunk Avenue closed for a couple of weeks to undergo a light makeover. And now chefs/owners/married couple Lee Styer and Jessie Prawlucki are making another change, adding brunch to the restaurant (one of Eater Philly’s essential 38) for the first time since it opened in 2009. Don’t look for the chicken liver mousse, grilled duck hearts, or scallops the French corner spot is known for at night. Styer and Prawlucki are fully embracing breakfast foods during their new daytime service. Expect a range of omelets, including one with Canadian bacon, cheddar, and spinach, croissant sandwiches, short rib hash, and a smoked salmon platter. Pastry chef Prawlucki is contributing the sweets, like scones and cinnamon buns. If that’s not enough to draw the crowds, there’s also an endless bloody mary bar, mimosas, and raw bar selections. The brunch at Fond will be a Sunday-only affair, kicking off January 14. It’s on for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday dinner starts at 5 p.m. Check out the full menu: And a few of the menu items:" - Rachel Vigoda

Google
Food was delicious, plated beautifully, and the staff couldn't have been more friendly. We really enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back again.

Google
Fantastic brunch spot if you are looking for hearty dishes with modern flair. The best shrimp and grits I have had! Great service as well as ambiance; you can get lost in conversation here.

Google
Came here for date night and while I didn't enjoy my main course - the pork belly, my husband enjoyed his duck dish, which does not look like it's on the menu anymore... I will recommend the chicken liver mousse appetizer though. It was a generous portion and tastes heavenly. The service was also superb.

Google
Delicious small restaurant with a phenomenal brunch. The dinner is incredible as well, but can get a little pricier. It's a great place for a date or a relaxing get together. Its often snubbed in the Philly mag top restaurant list, but I suspect that will change.

Google
An amazing brunch experience. We got seated at the chefs table and had some of the best brunch food in Philly. I had the short rib hash (pictured) and it was plate licking good. Great potatoes and an unlimited Bloody Mary bar rounded out the meal. One of my dining companions got the burger with foie gras, truly decadent. The Falconry (pictured cocktail) is an amazing concoction

Google
Amazing! Drinks were perfect and each dish was better than the last... Great service even though I imagine most ppl were being cheap for restaurant week lol... and the playlist?! One of the most enjoyable dining experiences I've had in a while!!!!

Google
Tasty cocktails and excellent food with large portions for what the types of food are. A great value. The chicken liver mousse was excellent.

Google
Food felt very fatty and bothered us. The drinks were ok and not dosed properly. I will try again and adjust accordingly. We went there for brunch.

Yelp
Small and cute. Quiet place to have a tasty filling breakfast. The cappuccino and latte were great. The chicken and corn muffin waffle is crispy, boneless thigh meat. The maple gravy on the side is perfect. The side of sausage was full of flavor, hint of spice without being overly salty. The sweet Dutch baby was everything I wanted it to be. It was like a brioche bun and a pancake had a baby. The staff were friendly and attentive. Our waitress was very welcoming. Highly recommend this place and look forward to visiting again.

Yelp
Small like someone's living room but decent with a bar. Good amount of food choices for breakfast or lunch. Great coffee with free refills. Excellent customer service. There is always a wait when coming here and despite me trying to call ahead no one picks up the phone. Huge bathroom! Clean and stocked. Highly recommend their coffee and apple juice. Good amount of salmon in their omelette, worth the price!

Yelp
Asked for a table of 3 and was waiting on 1 more person to arrive (which would have taken less than 5 minutes). The lady refused to sit us and we had to wait even longer to be seated. When asked why, she was rude and just said that's how's we do it.

Yelp
I try to come here as often as I can on the weekends because they have the BEST chicken and waffles that I've had in Philly so far. The only issue is they only serve it as a special on the weekends. They change how they do it every weekend it seems but the end result is a plate full of deliciousness and greatness lol. The first time I came it was basically a Thanksgiving themed chicken and waffles and I died from the joy lol. The service is great just be mindful of the space. They place is small and cozy so if you dont come early you'll be waiting a while for a table. I definitely reccomend.
google avatar

Yelp
I got their pancakes which were pretty good. They got a nice little crisp to them which I like. Their chicken and waffle special is just superb though. Literal thanksgiving on a plate !! So yummy. Gets very busy on weekends though.
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
Came here for brunch on a Sunday. Waited about 20-30 minutes for a table. Must get a Dutch baby!! They get your number and text you when your table is ready.

Yelp
Absolutely looooved this spot and can't wait to go back. We came because of the Dutch Babies on the menu, and then didn't even get them because other things looked so good. They had a special on Challah French Toast that day, so we opted for that instead of a Dutch Baby (but will definitely go back for one in the future) and it was delicious. My favorite of the two dishes we got though was the eggs Benedict - probably one of the best Eggs Bennies I've ever had. The chipped beef and the sauce was just amazing. Service was super friendly and prompt, and the space is very cute. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Gave this spot a try after walking past it a few times. Overall, I was underwhelmed. The fries were soggy and not seasoned. My fried chicken was good but the sandwich was meh. My partner did not like their food much either. It was a cold day and with people coming to add themself to the waitlist, the door was constantly open allowing a frigid draft. The space was crammed and it felt like the emphasis was on turning people over, not promoting a quality experience. Would not recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for light dinner and drinks and sat at the bar. The bartender, Patrick, was awesome! Great conversation and even better drinks! We had espresso martinis and old fashioned. We snacked on a Caesar salad with fries but the drinks stole the show. Very cute intimate place!

Yelp
I finally made my way to The Dutch this week after creating a book mark for this place way back when. I can thank Fox 29's feature, which mentioned the special "Soul Food" dinner for the reminder that I needed to make a dinner reservation ASAP. Unfortunately, I was a little too late for the soul food dinner as the early reservations were sold out. I opted for a Friday evening reservation instead. I was greeted by a friendly young woman upon arriving who advised I could choose my seat. I decided to sit near the window at one of the tall tables. The dining room is a quaint, warm and welcoming. The hostess provided menus with "Happy Hour Specials" and I was OVERJOYED to hear there were two items still available from the soul food dinner. Thus, I decided to try the short rib mac n cheese for my appetizer(still available from the soul food dinner) , the steak frites for my entree and the banana pudding (still available from the soul food dinner) for dessert. I also had the blood orange mojito for my drink. I'm going to skip straight to the food bc that's probably why you are reading this review. Haha. The short rib mac n cheese was incredible!!! The short rib was seasoned and flavorful. It paired perfectly with the mac n cheese. I could taste the smokiness of the short rib in the mac n cheese and I loved it! Next up, the steak frites. Now, this steak rivaled some of the steaks I have enjoyed at the high end steak houses all over. It was a simple skirt steak, but it also was seasoned to perfection. I didn't need to add or subtract a single thing from it. The frites were fresh, hot and nicely done. Now, for dessert. The banana pudding parfait was light and delightful. It was topped off with some sort of butter cookie that I couldn't get enough of. The cream/pudding was fresh, airy and perfect. It wasn't too sweet and I didn't feel overwhelming full after finishing it. I'd like to wrap up this review by saying my Dutch experience was top notch and I can't wait to make my way back to enjoy more dining options.

Yelp
Always an enjoyable meal, especially brunch. I have loved this spot ever since its early days in Pennsport. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything to eat here. Everything is made with quality and the portion sizes are good. Great coffee too!

Yelp
Interesting little place in the heart of South Philly. we went with several very different items, The Veggie Dutch, the Lebanese Salami and cream chesse omelet, and the truffle mushroom omelet. All was good and different and will come back to try the great looking pancakes! Service was a little slow as it is a small place and two front staff members. The bar out front takes a lot of space , if it was nice out, we would have sat in the outside space out front.

Amanda M.

Yelp
The food was fantastic as always, however the service was very disappointing. Our server had an attitude from the beginning, did not smile and never refilled our water or coffee. Also the coffee wasn't ready at 9:30 in the morning and they were working on a new pot which took 10 min. We had to ask for our check- needs new servers.

Yelp
Dutch Babies! I've been hankering for a savory version. Can't get them back home, only the sweet ones. These were perfect, airy, light, decadent, and delicious! We had a veggie one as well as the savory Dutch Baby. Loved them both but I favor the Veggie just a tad more. The location is on a quaint corner and you can tell that on the weekends it is probably packed. For a Wednesday morning, it was busy but we didn't have to wait for a seat. Go and enjoy!

Austin H.

Yelp
Just had the WORST experience at the Dutch. We waited an hour and a half for our breakfast. We believe our server forgot to put our order in as all the other tables around us got their food way before us. She also forgot to put in our Dutch that we ordered that just never came out. They also have water leaking from a pipe above all the tables on the right side of the restaurant so the entire time we were there water was dripping down on us and all the other tables. Hitting my two year old multiples times while she was eating. Years ago this place was so good it's definitely gone down. From the service to the atmosphere. There are way better places for brunch around the city.
google avatar

Yelp
I've only been here a few times, but the food has always been super yummy. The place is small but cozy. Serving sizes are nice and big as well. My biggest gripes are the wait times. It's never taken less than 40 min to get a meal here, which feels like eternity when you have hungry kids. The staff seems stressed and overwhelmed even when the space isn't packed. Not our favorite option, but a good backup.

Yelp
I've heard so many good things about the Dutch. I wanted to try for myself. The actual restaurant is beautiful. There's a place for outside seating and many tables inside. I would recommend going with a Group between two and six. It's a little tight inside. It might be hard to fit a bigger group. The menu was a pretty standard breakfast menu from sweet and savory options. The bacon was great, but the potatoes fell short to me they were not crispy at all. I was a little bit disappointed in our service while at the Dutch I felt very rushed and wasn't offered explanations for the menu from the server when asked.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast, professional, friendly service and great people watching Especially the guy walking his SQUIRREL on a leash

Yelp
My friend and I wanted to come here for brunch on a Saturday but when we checked earlier in the week, there weren't any reservations available. We decided to wing it with a walk-in and were actually seated pretty quickly, although the place was obviously packed. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles. I got a veggie dutch baby and we got the pumpkin pancakes to share. Everything was amazing. I had never had a savory dutch baby before but it was the perfect way to change up the usual brunch fare. The servers were nice, too- but I have to note that the service was super slow. I think it took 30-40 minutes for our dishes to come out. Still- I'll definitely be back here. It's earned a solid spot in my regular rotation of brunch spots.
google avatar

Morgan M.

Yelp
Great coffee, great service, and great food. I wish the dutch baby was a little bit sweeter or had more fruit, but overall really enjoyable. Also, I wish they had reservations. I tried to make one on their website but it seems like their system is no longer working. That was kind of a bummer
google avatar

Olga I.

Yelp
The Dutch is a hidden gem of South Philly. I stopped in while in town for a conference and had the most delicious savory Dutch Baby pancake. Since I usually go for the sweet ones, I couldn't resist giving this one a go and it did not disappoint. The service was amazing and staff was super friendly. While it was busy, it moved fast and was definitely worth the wait.

Yelp
Food was good - average brunch spot. Avocado toast was okay, I was not expecting a raw tomato with no salt or pepper on the toast (menu does say tomato but I thought it would be seasoned). The egg white omelette was B+, not over the top amazing but very good. Chorizo hash was tasty, well proportioned and would order again. Drinks were good - peach Bellini and bloody Mary's (a tad kick - which was great!) There are other local spots that I would want to try before dining here again. We asked to be seated outside and unfortunately it smelt like urine, even our waitress smelt it. She was so nice and let us move tables but you could still smell it lingering which made eating an interesting experience. Overall the team and service here was great! Food was good, and ambiance was okay minus the pee smell.

Yelp
The Dutch was luckily open for weekday brunch after my plan A fell through, and I'm so glad they were! My friend and I visited at around 10:30AM on a Wednesday, and we were pleased to find easy parking and zero wait for a table. The restaurant is in a cute stretch on Passyunk, located right on the corner so it's easy to find. The vibe is very much so Dutch - lots of wood with ornate detailing and bright colors with flowers. Really unique and charming! We were seated by a window, which let in some lovely natural light and allowed for people watching. The menu was fairly large for a weekday brunch menu, which made the decision a touch difficult. My friend and I both ultimately decided that at a place name "The Dutch," one needs to indulge in the Dutch Baby, so we each got the sweet version with fresh fruit added. Once the arrived, we were amazed by the presentation - the fruit truly made it shine. The dish was quite large (I only ate half, although probably could have done more if I tried!), but the pancake was fairly light and airy as I would expect. At $16, it was a reasonable price for the quality and quantity and for the experience. My friend and I took our time dining, and our server kindly gave us space and didn't rush us at all (but also made sure we were appropriately cared for). As mentioned, the menu had a lot of good options, so I would definitely be interested to re-visit and try the savory Dutch baby, an omelete (Bologna or mushroom), the Uitsmijter (dippy eggs with gouda), or a more savory lunch option. I also didn't get any beverage during this visit, so I would love to try a cocktail or other drink next time. The Dutch made for a wonderful weekday brunch, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a more unique take on breakfast in a cute spot!

Yelp
I used to love this place. In 2023 it was fantastic, great vibe fun atmosphere, and great food. Unfortunately that's not where we're at right now. Even dishes that I liked consistently have gone substantially downhill. More so, the service has become very spotty and makes me not wanna go there anymore even though I live in the neighborhood. We had a bad experience the last two times that we were there and gave it more than six months to see if they fixed themselves. It's actually gotten worse. And this is probably the last time I'll be there I got the chorizo hash, which I used to get all the time. And today I couldn't even finish 50% of it. It just wasn't good and the flavor was off. The waitress saw that I left more than that and didn't even ask how it was. I was also trying to give her my order, and she cut me off each time as I was trying to articulate my preferences. Threw me off. The young man who is working today was exceptionally polite and was the high point of the experience. Unfortunately not enough to make me go back. And my wife decided to give up on The Dutch about six months ago.

Janet D.

Yelp
There were 4 of us on Sunday and I expected to wait but we had to wait over an hour- the maddening part of it all was that there was no one taking names for the first 1/2 hour than two people said they were "combining there lists" and we would be called. About a half hour later we were called. I have never seen such bedlam- and the two hosts appeared to taking orders haphazardly in between. Just terrible service that it was the most pathetic attempt at a restaurant - the food was good but really not worth it. Sorry Dutch

Yelp
This is our Favorite go to spot in South Philly. Love the Dutch Babies with fruit , nothing else like them anywhere! Service is always Great. I usually always get the OTHER Great item on the menu .... which is the "Uitmijter"... Excellent flavor with the pickled veggies. We can't wait to return.... Living at the Jersey Shore .

Yelp
Amazing brunch spot! Its right on passyunk so you know the vibe is cool. Food is great- mostly breakfast but they also have some sandwiches and salads for lunch.
google avatar

Yelp
The service staff were really friendly and attentive. The place was quite small and intimidate but good if you are with people you are comfortable with. The mushroom truffle omelette was great (I got just egg whites) it was lacking truffle flavor but overall good. The hash browns were great and so was the avocado toast. We also got a side of bacon which was amazing. It was super thick and good quality.

Yelp
Expensive Brunch in the Heart of East Passyunk I've been eyeing this spot now for a while because I've heard of their dutch babies and I live pretty close by. We went during a heat advisory and hoped to block out the sun in the comfort of the indoor seating. The dutch babies ended up not really seeming too appealing to me, so we ended up ordering some other brunch foods. Vibes - 3/5 I thought the vibes of the restaurant were okay. We were seated in a small high table near the door. The restaurant seemed very small on the inside, with the bar taking up most of the room when entering. They have some outdoor seating arrangements outside, which looked decent enough. The decor was very simple, and the colors were plain. There wasn't any music playing, just the chatter of everyone in the small restaurant. Eggs Benedict on a Buttermilk Biscuit - 2/5 The pickled string beans were pretty good in the dish, and it's something unique that I've never had in a eggs benedict dish before. However the dish lost major points for the hollandaise, which tasted like straight up butter (which confuses be because hollandaise isn't supposed to have butter in it?). The biscuit was okay, but the potatoes could have used a lot more seasoning. Savory Scallion Waffle - 4/5 This dish I thought was very interesting and was really looking forward to trying it out. The corned beef gravy tasted very good and paired well with the waffle. The waffle was your standard waffle, nothing to write home about, and was on the softer side. The dish would be good to split 4 ways though in my opinion, because I thought eating just half was very heavy. Overall, I don't think I'd be coming back here for brunch ever again. Philly has a plethora of brunch spots for a fraction of the price I spent here. Personally, for the quality of food you're getting here, I think the food's overpriced. However, I will be looking to attend their dinner tasting menu in the near future, so I'm hoping that experience will be much better.

Yelp
Excellent service and cozy environment. I recently came here with family for Sunday brunch and we had a very pleasant time. I read up about their menu and noticed they have these very unique waffle/pancakes filled with different food options. I went with a sweet and savory waffle served with sausage and maple syrup. I also got a side of scrapple! You gotta be from Philly to appreciate good scrapple!! The coffee was piping hot and we got refills. We also ordered the French Toast with fruit, berries and whipped cream. The staff were all welcoming. Side-note: We called a few days ahead to get an idea of the wait time or if reservations were required, no rsvp required for brunch. There was a bit of a wait, but we were well aware of that. Parking was complicated. I had to park 6 blocks away.
google avatar

Susan C.

Yelp
I stopped by for lunch. I ordered the vegetarian omelet (with spinach, mushrooms, and feta cheese) and home fries. The omelet was light and not overcooked, the filling was perfectly cooked and the cheese creamy. The home fries were honestly the best I've ever had in a restaurant, which inspired me to leave this review. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the service was excellent. I highly recommend this cafe!
google avatar

Joseph T.

Yelp
Pretty good. I certainly wouldn't say that The Dutch is mind-blowing or life-altering. I would probably say that it is a fairly standard, millennial brunch spot. Which is to say that it is slightly overpriced food in a somewhat uncomfortable dining room (see small). I had the ana banana pancakes. They were a bit bland. Huge though. Good value for the money. Everyone else enjoyed their food (veggie hash, chicken & waffles, baby dutch), and the coffee was warm. Service was pretty good! People were friendly and accommodating and quick. Overall? 3.5* rounding up. Comes up a bit short in the comfort area and flavor of food, but otherwise it is an absolutely fine place to grab some brunch.
google avatar

Abby S.

Yelp
The food here is so delicious! I have been wanting to come for a while, but every-time I've walked by it has been on a weekend and there has been a long line. The food does take longer than some other restaurants, so if you are in a rush, this is definitely not the place for you. The menu had a nice variety of options to please many palates. I tried the sweet Dutch and we tried two of the omelettes. The ingredients tasted so fresh in the omelettes. The food arrived at the perfect temperate and the eggs were cooked perfectly. They have a cute indoor setup with probably 10 seats around a bar and maybe about 12 tables. They also have outdoor covered seating.
google avatar

Tony L.

Yelp
Brunch here is great. Staff and service were nice. When in Philadelphia I really do enjoy catching up with friends and having brunch here. Food was good 4/5 Server 5/5 Ambiance 4/5

Yelp
Ever since The Dutch moved into this location, I've been in love with it! That's mainly due to the tofu scramble. As someone who's not really into breakfast I always struggle to pick something but not here. The tofu scramble is the best sized portion and the potatoes are perfect and the bread - can't forget about the marbled rye toast! Plus their in house grapefruit soda is so tasty - could drink 10 of those! On weekend mornings there's generally a bit of a wait but luckily being across from the fountain there's some seating options and great for people watching! Service is always quick and very pleasant! Try to get there bright and early and you won't have a big wait!

Yelp
Decided to come here for last minute brunch with my girl and it was our first time trying a Dutch baby. It was new to us, but we like it. It tastes like bread omelette topped with scallions, kielbasa (ham-like) and powdered sugar. We had a savory Dutch baby, the saltiness with sweetness blended so well together. Just added some maple syrup, it was delicious! I would like to try the sweet Dutch baby next! My overall experience here is great. This place is absolutely adorable on the inside. I love the nature vibes. Great services! Staffs are very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend for breakfast or brunch if you're in South Philly!
google avatar

Allie R.

Yelp
let me start with: what a cute spot! the interior was nice (and had a gorgeous bar!), and it's location on passyunk made a window seat prime real estate for people watching. this was my first time trying a dutch baby and honestly, i don't think i need to get one again! no fault of the fine people of the dutch, i just don't see myself ever craving one when it's just a thicker-in-parts crepe, imo. i think im just a normal pancake girlie at heart, but i wanna thank the dutch for finally giving me the chance to try one after years of wondering what they tasted like after watching that one ep of bobs burgers. my friend had a breakfast sandwhich which she really liked, and while i couldn't try that one myself (vegetarian), i definitely will come back here to give them another try with one of those sandwhiches or an omelette.
google avatar

Ann W.

Yelp
Savory Dutch Baby was an unique dish. It's a little like french toast but with much thinner bread and savory instead of sweet. I do wish the bread was more crispy than it looks in photos. Avocado Toast was solid and satisfying, although a little overpriced for what it is ($17, but not particularly special). All in all, we enjoyed the meal but probably won't return due to the price.
google avatar

Jeannie S.

Yelp
Probably one of the best brunch place in the area with outdoor seating. I got the ring bologna Benedict (AMAZING) and my husband got the savory waffle. My toddler had the fries with some scrambled eggs. We all loved it and the service was great.
google avatar

Christian C.

Yelp
Came with a friend at 1 on a Tuesday afternoon and we were sat immediately. We shared the savory dutch and sweet dutch baby, which was enough for both of us. Overall felt like the Dutch babies lacked a lot of flavor. The savory one was not good without hot sauce nor was the sweet one good without the maple syrup. Servers were very kind though.
google avatar

Angie B.

Yelp
This is a great brunch spot. The wait can get a bit long, but put your name on the list and get a Bloody Mary at a south Philly spot while you wait. They take your number and text when the table is ready. The food is hearty and delicious. I always choose savory for brunch and the eggs and potatoes hit the spot. The bloody Mary's are a great accompaniment and the atmosphere here is cozy and bustling. It's not a big place but that's some of the charm. I recommend it!

Yelp
i've been meaning to try this place for years and finally did on a nice fall early afternoon. we sat outside bc we had our pup but the inside looked super cute and with a bar which i did not expect! we got the savory dutch pancake, the reuben and ring bologna eggs benedict the dutch pancake was delicious! it was actually more yummy when we brought home the leftovers and heat it up in our air fryer which made it crispy! the reuben was good - i would have appreciated a little more meat but good flavors and great bread. the ring bologna eggs benedict was yummy! they don't skimp out on the bologna thats for sure all in all, great service and yummy food! excited to come back and try more dishes!

Yelp
We took an Uber to get to this little quaint spot which was about 15-20 minutes and about 30-45 min on foot from our hotel. I looked this place up, and it gave off some European vibes. I thought since it was called the Dutch, that they served items similar to the food in the Netherlands, and they are not far from a previous spot we dined at a few months back. They offer indoor and outdoor seating, and again we chose indoor. The server greeted us immediately and let us pick our own section. We ordered two coffees. After looking at the specials which are posted on the wall on butcher's paper, and the menu, we both decided on the two different types of the Dutch Baby, which is like a pancake with various fillings/toppings. Mine cane with fruit, and for an additional cost, extra fruit plus a side of bacon. Hubby had his with meat and egg inside. Coffee was okay. The ambiance was quaint, and there is artwork displayed on the walls that are available for sale. There is one single restroom. Overall, the food packed flavor and reasonably priced.

Yelp
25/30. Love the amount of windows that allow you to look out on passyunk square. The brunch is always very good, with the chorizo hash being my favorite. If you're looking for a Pennsylvania Dutch style restaurant in Philly, this is arguably the best option

Yelp
tl;dr a quaint Pennsport cafe offering a European spin on breakfast staples The Dutch stands out along an otherwise unassuming row of brick townhouses. The bright blue trim along this corner cafe beckons you forth, and the aromas of breakfast fare keep your mouth watering until your own plates arrive. The minimalistic decor and pastel accents feel distinctly European, and the fortunate orientation of the shop keeps outdoor diners shady for the morning meals. Tables are first-come, first-serve, and plan to have your entire party at the door. Menus are available via QR code attached to each table. My partner and I arrived just before 10AM on a weekend and were immediately seated. However, just 15 minutes later, a queue started to form. We shared the Sweet Dutch Baby and the Savory Scallion Waffle. The Dutch baby, originating from a German pancake dish, sported the size/appearance of an American pancake with the thin crispiness/flavor of a crepe. Topped with assorted berries with a side of pure maple syrup, the Dutch baby was perfectly sweet without any overpowering, sugary gimmicks. Meanwhile, The waffle was slathered with creamed chipped beef. The creamy béchamel-style sauce, tastefully peppery, was similar to Southern-style gravy. While delicious, the waffle felt weirdly small for the price. Apart from promptly bringing us our check and ushering us out from our table, service was disinterested at best. The food overall was comforting and yummy. But at $35 for two dishes, prices felt a tad high. While I was pleased to give The Dutch a try, I don't anticipate going out of my way to dine here in the future.

Yelp
My sister suggested to grab breakfast at The Dutch during my stay in Philadelphia. My boyfriend and I met her at the restaurant around 8:30am on a Thursday morning. The Dutch was such a cute and quaint breakfast/brunch spot in the neighborhood. Indoor space was limited, so I'm glad that we got early enough to beat the crowd. In fact we were the first customers of the day, so we were seated and served right away. Customer service was excellent. At the time there were only two staff members holding down the fort. There was one server, who was very friendly and helpful, and one cook, who was really efficient and made our food with great care. The best thing I've eaten so far on my trip in Philly was at The Dutch, and it was the Savory Scallion Waffle. It was absolutely delicious as plain as it was. The waffle was light and fluffy, and the highlight of the dish was the creamed chipped beef sauce. It was money! So rich and flavorful. We also shared the veggie Dutch baby, which was delightful. I've never had a Dutch baby before, and I would describe it as a yorkshire pudding except with crispy edges.

Yelp
Came here on last Saturday and the place was packed. They had limited seating inside and around 7-8 tables outside. We were with our pup so we requested outside seating. We had to wait 15 mins to get a table. We knew what we wanted even before being seated. So may reviews of the Savory wafle and savory pancake. We had to try these 2 items on the menu. The coffee and bloody Mary came in 5 mins which was nice. But food took a lot of time to arrive. The food was tasty and delicious. I could do a bit more of gravy on my waffles. In fact I had requested gravy on the side as well. Which never came but it was fine. The place was busy. Pancakes were delicious too. I just had one issue. They don't give out dog bowls. We requested to get a regular plastic glass for the pop since it was hot outside and they never got that too. Slow service was a clear issue. Not sure if that was one off. Our coffee refill also came after asking twice. So, good food but slow service. I wud still go there just not when it is crowded.

Yelp
Usually I always get some type of protein in every dish, but the veggie omelet did not disappoint! There was an actual good portion of veggies too! The side of potatoes was flavorful too! The texture was just right, not too crunchy yet not soggy. Customer service was on point and the aesthetics were so nice! Such a cute brunch spot!
