Elevated Mexican cuisine in a festive dining room, plus tequila-based cocktails.
"Drink enough margaritas, and when you see the opening band, you’ll be shocked they aren’t famous yet. If you want to share some solid Mexican food and drink a lot of margaritas (they have eight types), check out Fonda. Get some spicy guacamole and the enchiladas covered in black mole, and sit in the backyard if it’s nice out. Your only regret will be the nine minutes you waste listening to the opener again tomorrow morning." - hannah albertine, bryan kim, matt tervooren
"Roberto Santibañez was once chef of Austin’s famed Fonda San Miguel , slinging classic Mexican recipes at a time when the bill of fare in town was more likely to be Tex Mex. Now he has a string of three Mexican restaurants in NYC, each with a distinctive menu (the other two are in Tribeca and Chelsea) . Anything with duck is likely to be good, but equally praiseworthy are the mushroom huaraches, tortilla soup, and gooey enchiladas suizas, smothered in cheese." - Eater Staff
"When: Monday, All Night; Tuesday-Sunday, 4-6pm (Bar Only) The Deal: $11 Classic Margaritas; $12 Mango or Strawberry Margaritas When the weather's nice, have some drinks, guacamole, and a build-your-own carnitas taco plate in the backyard at this Mexican spot in Park Slope. Fonda also has locations in Chelsea and Tribeca." - kenny yang, bryan kim
"Fonda is another great spot for Mexican food in Park Slope, but we especially like it when we’re sitting in their backyard. Entrees like chile rellenos and mole enchiladas are where you should focus the majority of your stomach space here. And whether you’re in the backyard or taking your food to-go, be sure to order one of the eight margaritas on the cocktail menu." - nikko duren
"You’re seeing The Decemberists or Spoon at the Prospect Park Bandshell and you want a place to eat a real dinner beforehand. Fonda is a solid Mexican spot on 7th Avenue with shareable dishes like chile rellenos and enchiladas with dark mole. Get a table in the backyard and try any of the eight types of margaritas." - nikko duren, matt tervooren
