The 12 Must-Visit Restaurants in St. Pete-Clearwater | Eater

"Located inside the historic Ponce De Leon Hotel, Fortu is a Japanese restaurant with an elevated, Izakaya-style menu. Serving everything as soon as it’s cooked, the restaurant specializes in A5 wagyu beef, even complementing their steak entrees with an option for wagyu tartare or wagyu fried rice. However, there’s still plenty of diversity on the menu, and those who order the miso black cod come away with rave reviews. Don’t miss the desserts, including the Pink Cloud, a strawberry mousse with pineberry compote." - Stephen Rubino

Fortu is an excellent spot for steak lovers. The quality of the meat is outstanding—perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and incredibly tender. You can really tell they take pride in sourcing and preparing their steaks. The atmosphere is upscale yet comfortable, making it great for both special occasions and a nice night out. Service was attentive and professional without feeling rushed. Overall, Fortu delivers a consistently great dining experience and fully lives up to its reputation for exceptional steak. Highly recommended.

Love this place! The atmosphere is always so welcoming and the staff is stellar! Ryan, the bartender was friendly and made a delicious martini! They have an umamai bitters, who knew, but it paired perfectly in one of their signature cocktails! Pam, our server, was very knowledgeable about wine and friendly. Her recommendations were spot on! One of our party got the pre fixed menu, what an amazing deal!! Others ventured on to the ala carte. From beginning to end our journey through this Michelin recommended restaurant was delightful!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Fortu, where I indulged in their testing menu that featured a delightful array of dishes: steak tartare, shrimp and lobster dumplings, Iberico pork chop, and gelato. Every dish was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, making for a memorable dining experience. Starting with the steak tartare , it was impeccably seasoned and showcased the freshness of the meat. Next up were the shrimp and lobster dumplings, which were nothing short of exquisite. The delicate dough enveloped a rich filling that burst with the flavors of the sea, making each bite a true delight. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the Iberico pork chop.Cooked to perfection, it was juicy and flavorful, complemented by the right sides that enhanced its taste. To round off the meal, we enjoyed some gelato that was a creamy and refreshing conclusion to the dinner, with vibrant flavors that left me wanting more. The service at Fortu was outstanding. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu, which elevated the overall experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a perfect setting for a special evening. Without a doubt, I would give Fortu a full **5 stars**! Every aspect of the meal, from the food to the service, was top-notch. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for exceptional culinary experiences.

We came here for our 7-year anniversary dinner a couple of weeks ago and we had an incredible experience. The food was just amazing, every bite was so delicious. They gave us complimentary glasses of champagne since we were celebrating. The vibe was lovely, the interior beautiful, lively without being too loud, and our waitress was so kind and attentive; she helped us with recommendations. We both loved our cocktails as well -- I did the cherry blosson/lychee one and my husband had the whiskey/mandarin drink. I can't wait to go back and have my favorites as well as try other menu items out. Highly recommend!

Google
I have wanted to come since this place opened, and it was definitely worth the wait! The restaurant is super busy, so definitely make reservations. We waited 15 minutes or so for our table, but grabbed two seats at the bar and ordered a drink. The ambiance is incredible. Warm and cozy, but can feel a little cramped depending on where you’re seated. Excellent drink menu. I had a gin-based drink that was herbal and earthy to start, then followed up with a Negroni. (It’s surprisingly hard to find a good Negroni in Tampa and theirs was perfect!). Pam was our waiter and she was fantastic. Super helpful with recommendations and great timing. The kampachi was incredible. Full of flavors! The pork belly was our favorite dish but we also enjoyed the carrots, and wagyu potstickers. We were full with the addition of the fried rice. The wagyu add-on had a very healthy serving of tender, delicious meat. 10/10 would recommend. Looking forward to coming back and trying their steak!

We recently celebrated my father’s 50th birthday at Fortu, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish! The atmosphere was warm and perfect for a special occasion. Our server was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made sure everything felt seamless throughout the night. The food was absolutely outstanding — every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The ube dessert was our favorite, and especially amazing and beautifully presented. My family couldn’t stop talking about how delicious everything was. Fortu truly exceeded our expectations, and we’re so grateful for the memorable evening. It was my family’s first time dinning there, and they loved it. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for great food, great service, and a special dining experience!

Google
Good food, not great. Good service, not great. Given the time limit imposed on us of 1hr 45 min we were a bit concerned when we twice had to call our waiter to order instead of being asked. Menus stayed on our table the entire night and dishes were slow to be removed. Portions were decent sized. The steak tartar was very good, but I actually liked the egg salad on top better than the steak, which lacked flavor. The charred cabbage was very good, benefitting from both the char and the garlic, but given how cheap cabbage is the portion size could easily be doubled for about nothing in cost. Her scallops were fresh and delicious, but I found the stronger flavors of the accompanying fried cabbage balls more to my liking. The Iberico pork chop seems a strange choice for an Asian-esque restaurant, but it was perfectly done. A double-thick would have been nice, though as long as they didn't over cook it I was happy. The fried rice was ok, but the rice was more mushy than fried and it really needed some meat/fat for flavor, a $10 upcharge with wagyu the only option. There are two toilets. Total. I waited in line while my food was served. Apparently a hazard of an old building. In total, it was good enough to return, but the value for your dollars is not good. They are probably fine in St. Pete where people don't care much about cost, but it's very expensive for what you get.

Google
As of today, #1 restaurant in St Pete. Ambiance- 10/10. NYC like feel inside. Multiple levels, outdoor seating, bathroom could use more attention Service- 8/10 hit or miss but overall, better than average. Food- 10/10. Everything from lobster and shrimp dumplings to chocolate dessert is amazing. The attention to detail is clearly a focus at Fortu. My favorites: Pork chop $36 Fried rice with Wagyu $22 Chocolate dessert $11 Prices listed to show how reasonable they are. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We were visiting St Petersburg fora weekend to experience the museums and fine restaurants. where we were staying we requested a reservation for two at the finest restaurant in St Pete's. The B&B recommended Fortu and made a Saturday night reservation for 6:30PM. We arrived at 6:25PM and the receptionist told us a table was being cleared for us. Finally at 7PM we were taken to our table. The bathrooms were small and inadequate as a line of people to use them was always standing in front of us as we waited for a table. A waiter introduced himself and asked if we wanted to order a drink. I ordered a cocktail and my wife asked for one minute to decide on her cocktail. The waiter instead left and brought me my drink 5 minutes later. My wife disappointed then ordered her cocktail. We eventually ordered dinner. My wife ordered an appetizer and a salad. I ordered the Miso Black Cod. We never expect large portions nor do we want such portions. My Black Cod arrived and I could not believe the size of the Cod. It was no larger than the palm of my hand and best described as a sliver served over chewy Broccoli Rabe. Very disappointed with the meal as the Cod was mushy. My wife did like her appetizer and salad. Overall, I thought the dining experience was lackluster and the overall treatment below par. The restaurant has a nice decor. Michelin rated this restaurant on a positive note. I will not return to Fortu and will advise St Pete diners it is not on my recommended list. Don

Yelp
We sat at the bar, the staff was really friendly, pro, helpful. I was expecting "Japanese sushi", we ended up getting Japanese gastronomy. The steak tartare is the best I had in a long time (the pairing with the egg salad is sensational), the tuna appetizer is stunning. The pork chop was cooked to perfection. Perfection. Overall, a great meal with friendly service, ambience. The portions are very generous and they match the price. I'd do over and order the same items, again.

Yelp
The service, atmosphere, and cocktails were phenomenal. But the food was far from extraordinary. Maybe my expectations were too high because of the hype around the place, but even trying to push that aside it really was "just ok" and I wouldn't call anything truly delicious. The alleged milk bread just tasted like normal bread. The lobster + shrimp dumplings and fried rice were almost bland, and I would have preferred them to be more flavorful and simply just taste better. The Caesar salad was normal and fresh, but the tomatoes felt out of place in it. The flavor of the ube cheesecake was nice, but I wished it was colder. There was nothing elevated about any of the dishes I tried and, much to my disappointment, I've had better versions of every dish at so many other places. On a side note, I also just cannot understand why the baked sweet potato was $15 when, again, there is nothing elevated about it in it's preparation or ingredients.

Yelp
42 is a fun place. If you were looking for a good vibe, a lively atmosphere this is definitely it. The service was good, appreciated being walked to our table by the hostess. I was the only vegetarian in the group, this is not a good place for vegetarians. The meat eaters and the fish eaters enjoyed their food, the drinks were good. But there were only three items that I could eat. The Caesar salad was made with mayonnaise and was below average, the glazed carrots were bland, the cabbage was phenomenal order that if you go here whether you eat meat or not, it was really good.

Yelp
We had high expectations for FORTU, but it fell short. For the prices, we were expecting better choices and more elevated flavors. There were a few standouts though and the cocktails were phenomenal, so may be good for just for a tapas / happy hour / quick bite place to go (but not a full lunch or dinner). We had a Saturday brunch appointment and were seated promptly. Service was excellent all throughout. We tried the crudo, short rib & tuna tacos, seafood dumplings, wagyu dumplings, parmesan cheese & truffle potato sticks (fried in beef tallow I believe ), ube cheesecake, ube cocktail. The meh: We felt the crudo wasn't balanced (some bites too acidic); the wagyu dumplings felt greasy and the big chunks of beef inside felt too dense (not the right cut we felt); the short rib tacos were flavorful, but we thought they were overpowering sp with the fried wonton shell (better if served with non-fried item); seafood dumplings were okay, nothing special flavor-wise (albeit perfectly cooked). The good: The parmesan cheese & truffle potato sticks (fried in beef tallow I believe ), were so good. A bit greasy, but they were perfectly crunchy and the flavors tied they're so well - and *perfect* while having drinks. Speaking of, we had the ube cocktail and it was so good we had 2 rounds (creamy, balanced - cheers to the bartenders!). For dessert, we had the ube cheesecake and LET ME TELL YOU: WHA?! I don't like cheesecake, but this was something else! Sooo light, almost like a mousse, with an interesting thin chocolate ube covering. In short, we felt their ube offerings were the few truly amazing items -- most everything else felt like something was missing (or not balanced). For the prices, not sure we'll be back.

Yelp
We heard dinner at Fortu was a great experience but once brunch became an option, we had to see for ourselves. Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time -- We snagged the first 11am spot and within minutes the entire outdoor patio was packed. The service was wonderful and very attentive and patient given we had our two month old newborn with us. We were explained the menu along with fan favorites which I'm always appreciative of as a first time visitor. Breakfast cocktails to start our morning because why not?! Lychee mimosa was very refreshing. And the Bloody Mary had the right amount of spice to flavor. We shared the wagyu wonton tacos to start and man oh man, I could've devoured that myself granted there are four tacos per order. From there we tried the 24 hour fermented pancake, chicken sando and the Wagyu burger. The only downside was the fried egg on top of the burger I requested be removed but wasn't. I'd come back for the burger (minus the egg) and tacos everyday of the week it was that good. And pretty affordable for the three of us. I'd like to come back and give their dinner menu a spin because brunch was *chefs kiss*.

Yelp
Fortu has a beautiful vibe and stunning décor -- definitely an inviting spot for date night or drinks. That said, the food felt a bit overhyped and didn't quite live up to the price point. We ordered based on the staff's top recommendations: the toro, wagyu gyoza, potato mille-feuille, and scallops. The toro was good, but the gyoza were underwhelming compared to others we've had. The potatoes were creative but not something I'd order again, and while the scallops had a nice sear, the cabbage pancakes they came with weren't for us. The highlight for me was the Geisha cocktail -- perfectly balanced and beautiful. My husband's Japanese whiskey had a coffee note he didn't love, but our server was attentive and friendly throughout. Overall, great ambiance and drinks, but next time I'd skip the seafood and try the wagyu instead.

Yelp
I met two friends here for brunch on a Sunday. We made a reservation on an open table and noted that it was my birthday, but that was never recognized. Some restaurants go above and beyond and some do nothing. I feel for the upscale experience they try to create the price point they should do something, but just FYI they didn't. The spicy tequila cocktail on the normal cocktail menu is quite tasty they put a Japanese spin on all of their cocktails, including the brunch cocktails. We started with the fried potato cakes with the crème fraîche, and based on the picture I had seen online I had a certain expectation that was not met. They were OK, but the crème fraîche did not taste like truffle at all. The best part about the whole meal was what we ordered for our "dessert" we got the chai sticky bun. It was very rich and tasty. For my meal, I got the Japanese egg salad sandwich, which I thought was served on the milk bread but is served on a toast, it was OK, but I did not taste any cheese that they mention on the menu. My friend had the traditional breakfast we both were served the fingerling potato Hash brown, which was tasty. Our other friend got the shrimp and lobster dumplings, which she really enjoyed and the Greek yogurt Panna cotta parfait which she allowed us to taste and was very light and sweet with fresh fruit. We chose brunch because I am not a big beef eater and the dinner menu relies heavily on beef. We loved the atmosphere. The service was fantastic. But now that I have been, I don't know that I would go back. Would have given it a 3.5 if possible, but leaned towards four because of the great service and the atmosphere.

Yelp
Came here for another friends birthday with reservations for 8pm. We didn't get seated until 8:40pm. They gave us sorry for your wait champagne flutes that were less than half filled at different levels in each glass. Our server was kind. The food was delicious! There was a slight mix up. I ordered dessert and they served that to my friend instead of me haha... quite interesting and he wanted something different. It's a very small restaurant. When I say small, there is a waiting/seating area, but you're also in the way of the kitchen/servers to deliver food and the bathrooms. So that was a bit awkward. After dinner, we went downstairs and danced the remaining night away with some salsa/bachata.

Yelp
I am obsessed with this place! I had delicious pornstar martini to start the dinner. We split the tacos (to DIE for!), gyoza, and pork belly. Each dish had really creative flavors of things you can't get anywhere else. We kept on getting more and more impressed. The only thing we weren't super excited for was the potatoes. It was recommended to us by our server, but it was really heavy. We couldn't finish it. But everything else was great! The ambiance is super romantic and dim lit with a bubbly vibe. Overall, it was a great spot, and I would definitely come back.
google avatar

Kayla J.

Yelp
The food was nice. I wouldn't say I was particularly "wowed" by any dish but it was a very nice meal overall with a lot unique flavor. The drinks were also nice. The dark moodiness of the restaurant is fantastic. I would definitely come back again for the vibes.
google avatar

Ricky Z.

Yelp
Wow what an awesome surprise. Recommended in the Michellin guide so maybe it shouldn't have been one, but I absolutely loved my meal here. The prix fix is a great deal, but we opted to do a la carte because there were a few items we wanted to try off main menu. Everything was amazing, you can't go wrong! The wagyu tartare and the pork belly were must orders though. Vibe is upscale, but not at all stuffy. Outdoor patio is perfect too for a slightly more casual vibe on a nice day/night. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Alysea J.

Yelp
Yum!! We loved this spot for date night. The fried rice and wagyu were our favorites. The Sakura blossom cocktail was delicious too. I would've loved if there was less (or no) orange zest on the tuna wonton tacos, it was too overpowering and messed up the dish for us. The dumplings had good flavor but texture was not good. We had excellent service by an older gentleman (I can't remember his name, darn it!). We would definitely come back.
google avatar

Isabella V.

Yelp
Short answer: yes, this place is a must-try--you have to come. We started with the shrimp & lobster dumplings and the wagyu gyoza--both fresh and flavorful. If you're choosing, it just depends on whether you're in the mood for something lighter (dumplings) or richer (gyoza). Personally, I leaned toward the gyoza. The potato mille-feuille is a must. The kampachi was incredibly fresh, and every dish felt so thoughtfully crafted with its sauces and flavor pairings. The miso black cod was buttery, fresh, and so good I wanted seconds. For dessert, the ube cheesecake stood out--unique, delicious, and highly recommended (though the salted caramel was also great). Our server, Tristan, was amazing--attentive, friendly, and spot-on with drink recommendations. Between the service and the quality of the food, I'll definitely be coming back.

Yelp
This Japanese Asian fusion restaurant surprised me by not serving sushi on their menu. However, the portions were small but delicious. The menu is a bit pricey, but the ambiance is nice.
google avatar

Miyuki Y.

Yelp
Food, quality, ambiance, this place is everything! I'm not huge on fusion cuisine but this... this was SO GOOD. Started with the shrimp/lobster dumplings (amazing btw) so much flavor and so much filling in the dumplings. We also got the Toro to start which just melted in the mouth! The Wagyu ribeye is one of the best steaks I have ever eaten paired with the shiso chimichurri, honestly just WOWWWWWWWW. The fried rice was also an amazing dish paired with the steak! The miso black cod is SOOO tender soft juicy flavorful seriously have to try....... Last comment: the drinks are wow. U just have to try for yourself..

Yelp
First time here and can't wait to go back! My bf and I stopped in just for some drinks and appetizers. Looking forward to entrees next time. We sat at the bar later in the evening and we were greeted by the bartenders. Started with glasses of wine. Can't remember which one, white, but good. For apps we ordered the gyoza, wagyu fried rice, and ahi tacos. All were fabulous. We finished with the Ube cheesecake. I can't even describe it. Just go try it! Each bartender seemed happy to chat away with us (wasn't super busy since it was a bit late) and offered their favorites from the cocktail menu. I got the Seaside in Osaka which was soooo good. Can't wait to go back.

Jay G.

Yelp
Excellent new restaurant with exceptionally prepared foods. A bit pricey but worth the splurge. The waygu steak is a must as is the black cod. Great offer of a tasting menu with options for $75. The service was also wonderful. Thanks to Andrea We will be back soon

Rich L.

Yelp
We spent an early New Year's here...after having cocktails the night before....that should tell you a bit. The ambiance at the bar is exceptional and Daniel takes very good care of you!! Excellent food choices. A notch above in our opinion!! Highly recommended!
google avatar

Amber N.

Yelp
Friendly, attentive service. Nicely decorated and plentiful outdoor seating. Fried rice with wagyu (3/5)-- It has potential to be great but the dish was under seasoned and lacking some flavor. I prefer fried rice without soy sauce but the lack of seasoning on the rice and meat requires soy sauce to make this taste better. Milk bread (5/5)-- The bread was perfectly fluffy and the miso butter was really special. Ube cheesecake (4/5)-- It has a sweet, creamy ube filling with a crispy biscoff crust. I liked it better without the whip cream on top.

Yelp
I would give this place 4.5 stars if I could! Starting off, the inside is beautiful. It's dimly-lit inside and has the potential to be a perfect date night spot. My only gripe is that it's pretty loud in there for a high-end, expensive restaurant. I felt like I was having to speak very loudly to my partner across the table in order for us to hear each other. The service was very good, our waiter was very attentive. I got a matcha cocktail and it was pretty good! I would get it again. Now for the food. My partner and I got the Wagyu wontons, shrimp tempura, milk bread, and Wagyu gyozas for starters. My favorite items were the wontons and the milk bread, both were phenomenal. The shrimp tempura was also very good. I would probably not get the gyozas again. My partner got the orange chicken and I got stir fried noodles with Wagyu for our entrees. The orange chicken was pretty good, nice and crispy. The noodles were a pretty big serving size for a side! I couldn't finish it all and took some home. Overall, this was a very nice date-night spot. I would come here again for a special occasion!
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
The service was great, the place is absolutely gorgeous, and the drinks were yummy. Unfortunately, the brunch itself was pretty lackluster, especially for the price. Honestly, I'd be just as happy with a McDonald's breakfast. I wouldn't go back for brunch, though I might return for drinks or another meal.
google avatar

Courtney T.

Yelp
First Michelin star restaurant which was exciting! The carrots were PHENOMENAL- the kimchi butter they were soaked in was one of the best things I've ever had. The wagyu dumplings were also very good. We were not overly impressed by the fried rice but the portion size was generous. Scallops were cooked perfectly, as was the steak! Cocktail was unbelievably delicious (Hakko Shita). Service was pleasant and inside of restaurant was elegant and comfortable.
google avatar

Janet C.

Yelp
A definite must try!!! Very nice decor and ambiance... cozy, comfortable, and elegant all at the same time. The food was, by far, an amazing culinary experience that touched on so many different flavor blending profiles. We had the Milk Bread, Wagyu Gyoza, Wagyu Ribeye, Scallops, Miso Black Cod, Wagyu Fried Rice, and Miso Creamed Corn - and all were delicious!!! Our server, Vanja, helped to create our awesome tasting line up - we took his advice on all of his suggestions and he was SPOT ON! We will definitely go back when in town!!

Yelp
Fortu brings an elevated experience to the St. Pete food scene. The quality and craft is evident with each bite. I've had reservations for my past visits and was seated quickly and waited on attentively. The ambiance is lux and intimate. The cocktails are creative but fall a tad short on flavor, in my opinion, but anything ordered from the food menu has been a hit. Dessert is always an added bonus and I would also describe those as hit or miss. The Ube Cheesecake is fantastic! The Pink Cloud was just alright. I'm excited to see they are serving brunch these days and will be back to try it out. The menu seems to have slight updates and adjustments and keeps me coming back to see what new flavors they have in store. 9/10
google avatar

Ron C.

Yelp
I went to Fortu and sat at the bar yesterday. The vibe here is pretty chic. The bar is smaller than I anticipated as it only seats around 8 or so. There were a few patrons at the bar around 5:30 PM. I opted for a few items as the portions are small. The Miso Black Cod is an excellent entree but I'd recommend getting an appetizer and/or sides if you're hungry as the portion is very small as you'd expect at a fancy place like this. The Toro was excellent as were the Lobster and Shrimp Dumplings. The Sake selection is also great here. Prepare to spend a lot of money here if you plan on eating a decent amount.
google avatar

Jasmine A.

Yelp
We walked inside to be seated out. Inside of the restaurant was very nicely set up, would be a great date night spot! We only wanted to grab something quick because we weren't too hungry. I must say it was absolutely delicious though. I will definitely be coming back for that and to try the Aussie waygu. The waiter was also very knowledgeable and friendly, our quick service was great!
google avatar

Andrea T.

Yelp
If you have the chance of dining at Fortu, do it! I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! The ambience is simply amazing--it's the perfect blend of cozy and chic, making it an ideal spot for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner. The drinks at Fortu are top-notch! I highly recommend trying the Cape Cod; it's refreshing and delicious, definitely one of the standout cocktails on the menu. And let's talk about the desserts! They were the perfect way to end the night. Each one was a delightful treat that left me wanting more. Overall, my night at Fortu was filled with great vibes, fantastic drinks, and mouthwatering desserts. I can't wait to go back! Service was good too event though there was to many people
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
The food here is incredible. I've had the filet mignon & Waygu pairing. Both were amazing. Apps and sides also impressed me. The only reason for 4/5 stars is because my first time visiting I felt like the tables were too close together. I understand wanting to fit the most people but it was way too close together. I decided to go back for my dad's birthday as he loves steak and this time they forgot to bring out one of the steaks we ordered. It took forever and still nothing. We complained to management and they gave us free desserts. I would go back because the food is really THAT good just the service was not 5/5. I hope they figure out these issues as I know they are a newer restaurant.

Yelp
Went to Fortu while visiting one of my cousins who lives in Tampa. She had been to Fortu and highly recommended it! So we went for a girls night out and we were so happy we did! First off, the place is very cozy, the lighting is dimmed..perfect for a date! It's elegant and chic! I really loved the way it felt! Cozy, warm and very elegant! So dress up when you go! It's totally the sexy vibe! Now on to the food! I found that the menu was small but it doesn't bother me. I rather go to a place where they have few options but they're ALL amazing because they really hone the culinary skills mastering a few dishes! But I say that so you don't expect a larger menu like Cheesecake Factory's, lol! I ordered tacos. You order them by pair so I had 2 mushroom and 2 tuna! They were delicious! The tortilla is fried so super crunchy! I tried getting two bites out of the tacos because they are on the smaller side, but they would crumble. But let me tell you, boy I was not expecting their tacos to be so mouthwatering!! Like for real they were soooo flavorful!! I had the four little tacos plus tasted everything else my cousins and sister, ordered! So I tried everything you see in the pics! Their sweet potato is not the very orange one is a Boniato in Spanish, it was amazing! Tried the Chilean Sea bass! OMG SO GOOD! The orange chicken was delicious as well!! Everything we had was amazing! Everything!!! The flat noodles were great to try! I would definitely order anything you see in my pictures again!! The service was on point! Our server was so nice and courteous!! He was super well mannered, attentive and had very friendly energy! I totally recommend Fortu!! Trust me, it will not disappoint!

Yelp
We were celebrating my fiancé birthday. Our reservation was at 8 pm and didn't get seated until 45 mins later. The manager did offer complimentary wine for the wait. The menu offer a nice array of dishes. Everything tasted fresh and overall the space was quite nice.

Yelp
If you want a fantastic place to enjoy dinner on your birthday, and you are into wagyu beef, then Fortu should be on your list to reserve a table. This Pan-Asian restaurant captures some amazing savory flavors within their cooking, including their wagyu-forward items that we enjoyed immensely. One point we didn't fully comprehend when we reviewed the menu in person at the restaurant was the number of wagyu items available from appetizers to steak dishes. Sitting at the table with its lovely dinnerware settings as we read the menu, Fortu offers Japanese A5 Wagyu steak selections, which I hadn't enjoyed before, but was determined for my birthday to check off the list. Within the Asian-inspired steakhouse interior with dark beiges and wooden trims and cream-colored cushioned seating, Fortu provides a magical experience that we enjoyed from the initial cocktails that allured the senses. Because it was happy hour when we arrived for another hour, we took advantage of the cocktail specials that were discounted. Gin-based cocktails like the cucumber-forward Sea of Osaka was delightful, while the Matcha Kanji was well balanced with sake and medeira. Dish-wise, we went mostly Wagyu in direction starting with the Wagyu tartare and the gyoza. The former was so yummy with the shitake and shallots and went well with the togarashi chips. The latter was so savory and succulent that burst with so much umami when dipped in the black garlic ponzu. For our mains, we enjoyed the A5 wagyu filet with truffle butter and the miso sea bass. The filet was as amazing as I thought it would be, tender, rich, and exquisite. We relished each bite of the 4 ounce delight that melted in our mouth to the last; exquisite and gratifying. The sea bass, marinated in miso for 36 hours, was buttery goodness and so incredibly satiating. For dessert, the pink cloud was certainly that with an intense presentation that had dry ice underneath the berry-forward delight that allowed for literal cloud like smoke to give the essence of it floating. One of the best restaurants we have enjoyed in downtown St. Petersburg, Fortu offers a wonderful gastronomic experience that offers the exquisite and nectarous with divine flavors.

Yelp
Would say next time I will not sit outside, unless it is on the covered raised patio. There are tables basically at the corner, next to the street and it is just not a good experience when seated there. The wagyu tacos were not as I remembered...they were actually quite cold. The bluefin tuna tartare did not taste as fresh as when I've had it before and the black miso cod was an especially small portion compared to previously. Highlight was the creamed corn side. Too many amazing new restaurants have opened up in town for an average at best experience here, with a 4x price.

Yelp
Unfortunately, I don't feel this review will have much to add to the other reviews folks have posted. Mostly I can confirm that the food is delicious, the drinks are great, our server (Pam) was wonderful, but it's quite pricey and the noise level is pretty severe. On that last note, we had a 5:30 PM reservation on a Friday evening and the volume wasn't bad. It was only as the evening progressed that the ambient noise got louder and we had to raise her voices significantly to hold a conversation.

Yelp
I was tremendously underwhelmed. We waited 45 minutes just to get our drinks and over an hour and a half for our food. When it finally arrived, the dishes were mediocre at best -- absolutely not what you'd expect from a Michelin-rated restaurant. The dessert was completely inedible, and everything else was just average. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

Yelp
As an avid world traveling foodie and hospitality consultant, I can say without hesitation this is the best pan-Asian restaurant within 300 miles--and easily a top 5 spot in the Southeast. Disappointment isn't on the menu here. The ambiance is thoughtfully designed, making the experience unforgettable even before the first bite--and the food itself is nothing short of extraordinary. Unlike many top-tier spots, the cocktails here are just as impressive. I went with the Haku Shita, she had the Geisha Martini...both a solid 9.5/10. My only wish? That they offered brunch--I'd love to experience this spot in daylight. Whether you're dining solo, on a date, or celebrating with a group, the service is impeccable and the entire experience is truly spectacular. The owner is young, driven and quite personable. He even stopped by the table.

Yelp
My hubby and I came here for our anniversary. Ambience was moody and sexy. To start, we had the best waitress although I can't remember her name :( they brought us champagne for our anniversary which was sweet. We ended up ordering a ton of food. Everything was very good. My favorite was honestly the milk bread, pork belly bao buns and miso cod. So yummy!! The Wagyu tartare was pretty good, as was the Wagyu and toro hand rolls. We also tried the Japanese A5 strip which seriously just melted in your mouth. Wagyu fried rice was a top favorite too. We got all of their desserts as well, which were good. My favorite was the Ube cheesecake. Also, Sakura blossom drink was stunning!!! Price was pricy- $500 something ish.

Yelp
Visited the Tampa area from Houston and had to stop by while I was close and man it didn't disappoint! We started off with drinks, Milk Bread, and Potato Millie Feuille which were both phenomenal and can't miss items. Next up, we enjoyed some Wagyu Gyoza and Spicy Pork Wontons which were both delicious and made me realize I've been missing out for a long time. Lastly, I ordered the Prime Filet and my girlfriend had the Japanese A5 Strip which were cooked to perfection and melt in your mouth good. (We also ordered the glazed carrots which were so good!) Not pictured but we took a slice of Ube Cheesecake to-go and it was the perfect way to wrap up this outstanding dinner. The place has a certain vibe and buzz to it that we thoroughly enjoyed and we can't wait to visit the Tampa area again to indulge in another perfect evening at Fortu!

Yelp
10/10 experience! I made a mistake and booked the wrong date, but the staff was incredible and still managed to accommodate my party of 8. The venue is stunning and the food was fantastic. Exceptional service--I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Where to start? This intimate restaurant has a "big city, sophisticated vibe...prices here however, are NOT " for the faint of heart...lol. That being said...the ambiance, food selection, cocktails and clientele are topnotch! We tried and tasted a large variety of dishes....all beautifully presented and delicious. We left happy with the experience. An excellent review and first impression.

Yelp
Food was delicious, the only I didn't like is that they didn't have a kids menu and I would definitely skip the creamed corn. Everything else was great

Yelp
Top tier, 5 stars, def recommend! Let's start off with drinks - I got the blossom drink. It was good and sweet, my only complaint was that it came in a tiny glass and was quite literally 3 sips. We ordered the four course meal plus extra stuff off the menu. Pork belly bao buns were so good and fluffy and you had to fix it up yourself. The shrimp and gyoza was tasty. The scallops were cooked to perfection. The glazed carrots were sooo good. My first time trying wagyu did not disappoint- the Wagyu fried rice and wagyu ribeye was delicious!!!! Lastly the dessert - we were so full but then came out the ube cheesecake and we could not stop eating it. Reservations were needed and service was good. Def recommend you check this place out!

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic! Food is top notch, the ambiance is intimate yet trendy, wait staff is extremely helpful and knowledgable. If coming here, I recommend you go ALL IN for the food experience. My husband and I got the Tuna Wontons, Potato Mille Feuille, Pork Belly Bao Buns, A5 Wagyu, Japanese sweet potatoes. The Pink Cloud dessert is now my official favorite dessert in St. Pete - light and airy, beautiful presentation and an overall experience. Food: 10000000/5 Price: 3/5 - definitely pricey, but worth it Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Cocktails: 5/5 OVERALL: 5/5

Yelp
On a whim treated myself to dinner at the bar. Excellent service. My waiter recommended to start with Waygu tacos. Loved the flavor. Did think they would be better warmer. The miso black cod entree was cooked perfectly and wonderful. Learned about a gin that is new to me. When I asked about it the server brought me a taste. Can't say enough. It met and exceeded my expectations in service, ambiance, flavor and value.

Yelp
Expensive but worth it :) delicious food and great drinks. Definitely a nice date night spot. Mood inside is really nice, but I also enjoyed sitting outside on the patio as well. Highly recommend checking this place out if you haven't already.

Yelp
I cannot stress enough how much I love this place! I cannot believe it took us months to get here. I have no idea what stopped or hesitation and making a reservation, but if you're hesitating to make a reservation, do not! This place is on the corner of Saint Pete in the perfect location. They even have valet right up at the door, they compensate valet for you so you don't have to worry about paying! When you walk up the steps into the restaurant, you will be surprised on how tiny it is so definitely make a reservation if you're trying to go! They sat us right away. They were so accommodating with everything. They answered Oliver questions to the T. The server was able to make perfect recommendations. The food was phenomenal. I will eat this food every single day if I could. It is obviously a pricey Place to go. But well worth the experience!

Yelp
We went here on a girls trip as our "fancy dinner" and it was great. The menu is very limited but everything was really good. It's a tapas kinda style place and the portions are small. We all ordered different items off the menu and shared and it was delicious. The vibe is low lighting, quiet, intimate. It's located in a strip where there are other restaurants and clubs near by. Service was good. I doubt I would go back if I find myself in St. Petersburg. I would wanna try a new place.

Yelp
YELPies.... St. Petersburg, FL for work and landed here for dinner with the doctors . Our server Cody was very welcoming and knowledgable about everything on the menu. The atmosphere is very boujie chic cozy . Is that a thing? Well.. I made it a thing! I absolutely loved EVERYTHING we tried. Pan-Asian cuisine with style and flair! Reservations are suggested and come with an open mind if you've never had Pan-Asian. Well..basically sushi in every form and a side of wagyu steak for everything! I took plenty of pics for my YELPies and hope that you make this a stop in this cute little area in St. Pete's in the marina area. YOU WONT REGRET IT! Don't run but, Sashay (cause we are boujie chic ) on over to this spot for some amazing service and even better food
