Food: 5.8/10 Service: 6.5/10 Atmosphere: 6.8/10 (higher score because of outdoor seating) Coffee: 7.2/10 (cold brew was tasty!) Value: 5/10 TL:DR - Way over priced for a very plain and unsubstantial meal. Ordered the smash burger and substituted the side salad for potato wedges at an additional cost. Ordered a cold brew. The cashier who was taking my order wasn’t enthusiastic and didn’t seem happy to be working on an Easter Sunday (fair enough). Did not expect the wedges to be a small potato quartered… there’s a reason you don’t see restaurants serve large chunks of potato as “wedges”. It was doused in oil and just soft enough to be edible. It wasn’t seasoned and had no texture other than a firm squish. The burger was real disappointing. They call it a smash burger but it really was just a burger, no smashing of the patty. It was a very wet burger thanks to the heap of lettuce they added. Maybe they put the side salad in the burger? They attempted to season the patty but it was very light. Everything was fresh! Just kinda lifeless and super ordinary. Goes to show that fresh ingredients aren’t everything. Bonus point for toasted buns. Server who brought my food didn’t say anything or offer to bring anything. Nobody came back to make sure I was satisfied. Maybe the crew just didn’t want to work today? I’m not coming back. My two cents of advice is to cut down the menu and get real good at one thing. I’m not opposed to a $30 burger meal in Eagle Rock but you gotta at least try to make it a good experience. Paid $26 and change and gave a few bucks in tips.

Local favorite in Eagle Rock! Fish burger is a must!! Seasonal menu so surprises come often. Honestly never been disappointed on food, service, & hospitality. Great mint lemonade, desserts, and much more. Faithful customer for years & will continue.

If you are craving something delicious - and want to feel great after - go to Four Cafe. I love their creative, energetic, healthy salads & soups. Friends have loved their sandwiches too (I just love their salads too much to try the sammies). I always feel invigorated after dining here. Extras I love are their iced coconut green tea & the lavender shortbread cookie.

Came here in a recommendation from a couple of locals who’ve been around for 15 and 20 years. We needed to go somewhere quick and yummy. They have indoor and parklet seating. We both ordered the salmon plate. We weren’t super hungry so the salmon was just right. There was slaw with light dressing and not slathered with mayo which was perfect. device was quick yet friendly.

I ordered some drinks because we had pizza from next door, we spent over 25 dollars. There was no one outside there. The tables had spiders webs, dirty. But we wiped it off and asked for permission. The young lady was so nice and saw we had kids and helped us. However, there was another young man that came out after we ate and hastled us. Told us we were rude and dont ever do that again. We wanted to order a dessert. But instead, we fled, btw, he stole all our silverware we were using to eat. Like what are gou doing? Lol!

FOOD SERVICE ATMOSPHERE this place has it all! Richard is a total rock star - always super kind! The menu is thoughtfully designed and food is delicious.

I have been coming to four cafe for a long time and I have really tried to like this place. for whatever reason I have had quite a few bad experiences. I would say the menu is a hit or miss. Sometimes I order something and am blown away(french onion grilled cheese)! Other times I am left very disappointed. Today, I ordered their pulled pork plate and it really really disappointed me. The pulled pork did not taste like pulled pork at all and the mac and cheese was very very bland and lacked any sort of seasoning (I had to ask for salt) it was all like lukewarm and unappetizing. I feel like it was honestly the worst dish I have ever ordered from a restaurant.... Not to mention have also found bugs in my food before (2 times 😭) Despite everything, honestly not sure why i keep coming back, maybe it’s their desserts and sides which are SO good. Anyway I don’t even know if I would recommend this place because everything there is either super yummy or very underwhelming.

Really enjoyed this spot! I had the coconut green tea and the Buddha bowl, both were excellent. The Buddha bowl is DELICIOUS. If you like the Humble bowl at Cafe Gratitude, this bowl has similar flavors but might be even better! The Kabocha squash is excellent, and the curried cauliflower and sautéed mustard greens are so flavorful, and the apricot drizzle adds the perfect sweetness.

Love it! Healthy, clean food and very tasty! I highly recommend it to those who are looking for fast yet heathy options. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu.

I hate to leave this review, especially since I already voiced it to staff before I left and said I didn't want to, but upon coming home, here goes. We ordered kids Mac and cheese for my 4 yr old and chili for me. When the Mac and cheese was brought out we were told the bowl was hot (it was on another plate) but it wasn't just hot-it was scalding. I had to grab a few napkins to serve it to my kid on the plate. He accidentally touched it and said his hand was burning and cried, so I had him hold a cup of ice I had and we tried to finish the meal. The Mac was super dry inside, clearly over-microwaved. The cornbread with the chili was cold (fine, whatever) but super super dry. Once we left and got in the car my kid kept crying saying his hand hurt from the hot bowl (he was no longer holding the ice cup). I'm confused as to why they would serve the kids food in a bowl so hot, not even the adult can handle it, and, I get it's for a kid but it should still be good and not so dried out it comes out without sauce and in little dried bits. In all honestly, I've tried to like this place for the 9 years I've lived in Eagle Rock but today has to be the last time I come. Not just for the hottest bowl ever, but the food was not good and never has been, and my bi-yearly visit always has me forgetting,

I've been here twice and it was delicious both times. You can get something healthy or not so healthy (ie brisket with Mac and cheese) but the bowls are really the best thing here. My husband got the portabello Bahn Mi sandwich and I got the portabello bowl. The sandwich was a crispy baguette with a little mushroom and carrots and he was still hungry afterwards. The filling was the same as what was in my bowl but the bowl had a lot more volume . It also had marinated spinach, brown rice, and cabbage with a side or siracha mayo. It tasted so fresh, light and healthy. Super flavorful. Highly recommend this place but avoid the sandwiches.

Friendly service. Solid food. Salmon in salmon plate was unexpectedly cold, but perhaps intended to be that way--tasted fine. They were out of rice but offered double veggies. Lots of available dine-in space at lunch.

The number four may be in its name but it's a 10 out of 10 in my book. Nice relaxing cafe that has good food and chill vibes. Come here around lunch time before 12:30pm on the weekend to beat the rush. Go to dishes are the chicken panini and chicken tortilla soup. Fresh tasting, big portions and great service. Did I mention their baked sweets are great? Guess I just did. Cheers.

Looking for salad and this what popped up in Eagle Rock area. Salad itself is $13 and if you add protein additional $4-6. Salad is a lot and I added salmon. Salmon was grilled but it taste burnt and under seasoned. However I still enjoyed it. Also, tried the chicken sandwich it was really good. I like soup the chicken tortilla soup, it has little kick of spice. Street parking only.

Food was straight up basura. Jerk chicken had absolutely NOTHING to do with what jerk chicken is supposed to be other than coincidentally being chicken. It was shredded like pulled pork and covered in a sickly sweet sauce with no spice at all. All dead (and even live) jamaicans are rolling in their graves at the mere existence of this trash they call jerk chicken. Bonus, the black beans had zero spice or flavor to them and likewise the grilled vegetable they served with it. That said, the fried plantain was ok. Additionally, the server was rude af from the get go taking our order. When I finally mentioned something about the food and asked for a refund after literally taking 2 bites they "graciously" refunded 50% of the bill and threw out the food. Everything about this experience was terrible save for the plantains, the salted chocolate chip cookie, and the company I was with. If you like food with flavors and nice people don't come here.

Stumbled upon this place just looking for lunch and to kill time. I love the al fresco seating they have outside however, being that it's summer time it did get a little too hot after a bit but that's no one's fault. The salad dressing was really good but I'm not too sure how much I liked the grilled chipotle chicken sandwich. The brioche bun was good, the chicken was kind of overwhelming and the chipotle sauce was a little too salty for my liking? I would come back but likely try something else. It's a chill cafe for your typical prices.

Awesome restaurant with a casual vibe, friendly staff and great food. Decided to meet up with some friends for lunch on a trip to the LA area, and found this vegan friendly spot in Glendale not far from my hotel. We placed our orders and then sat outside. They brought out our drinks and quickly followed that with our meals. I had the vegan burrito bowl and the jackfruit crab cake appetizer. The food was delicious and the portions were a healthy size. My friends had the cheeseburger, the pea soup, Brussels sprouts and the tempeh reuben, and they really enjoyed their food as well. The servers were even gracious to provide sliced apples for my friends' dog. We had a nice long visit and never felt pressured to clear out. I will definitely be back here to eat again the next time I come visit the area.

Wow, so delicious. Been twice now and had two delicious GF lunches. The soups are so yummy but different than your average restaurant soup. This spiced red lentil soup was incredible. Plus, everyone is so helpful and knowledgeable. Truly can't go wrong here.

Decent food in a pinch, great service. Taste: I got the fish burger. I think the huge brioche bun was a little much. The sandwich itself tasted good. I think I would prefer a fried fish, but I was satisfied and expectations were met. Experience: Four cafe is an easy walk from my home, and my friend/neighbor suggested it. It's not the most well-designed or hip restaurant, but the service was extra friendly, the food came fast, and overall I'd say it's worth a try if you want something unpretentious and easy. Mood Before/After: I've been really really sad recently and my friend was a good listener and conversation partner. I felt better afterwards. Fullness: very full. What else did I eat/do today affecting my experience: I just worked before hand. And also wallowed in depressive thoughts. So this was better than those two things. But my bad mood may have contributed to not giving this a 5 star experience.

I have been here many times over the years and would overall rate this place 4 stars but I had a bad meal today. The hamburger was cold and the patty overcooked ( like it was already cooked prior to my order.) also, I ordered potato wedges for $6. The wedge skins were burnt and not well seasoned. Lastly, I got a day old pastry. I don't expect it to be fresh but it was out right horrible and was tossed after a bite. Hopefully, it was just a bad day.

Do you have a hard time finding a quality salad? I find it's a challenge for me to find a salad that has good quality ingredients and a lot of variety of flavor in it. That's why I love the salad at Four Café. Every component in it is fresh and crisp and salad dressing is light and not overpowering. You also get a lot of salad so you definitely get your moneys worth. The staff is always super friendly and if you have room get one of their yummy cookies.

These salads are so fresh and tasty and the portions are big, the chicken is good quality and the lemon dressing is so good. Ugh. Quality. Thank you, salad.

I absolutely love Four Cafe! It's hands down one of my favorite local restaurants. The food is consistently excellent, made with high-quality ingredients and packed with great flavor. One of the first and best chef inspired restaurants in Eagle Rock. The same restaurateur owns Penny Oven across the street. Equally as fab!

Great place for a casual, healthy, and tasty lunch with the family! Kids loved the grilled cheese and macaroni and cheese. I loved the Nicoise Salad, brussels sprouts, and deviled eggs- everything was tasty and the servings were hearty! Definitely will be back for more!

Ok.... Best panini I've had in YEARS! I'm truly blown away at the deliciousness I just experienced. It was my first time eating at Four Cafe and I'll definitely be coming back. The chicken panini had fluffy bread, crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside. The melted Brie is incredible. Salad was good too!!! Everyone loved their meal, thanks Four Café!

My sister in law and I love this place--have been regular (take out) customers for years. We have always enjoyed the unusual and seasonal menu, though often the online menu doesn't match the "ordering menu" (i.e. yesterday I couldn't order gazpacho). Yesterday we were really disappointed for the first time. Sister in law got the Tempeh BLTA--no taste of bacon or much of a taste with the tempeh at all. I got the 2 combo--coconut corn chowder, which was exceptional, but the 1/2 sandwich--1/2 heirloom tomato and grilled cheese--was a disappointment. It wasn't grilled cheese with tomato. It was fried cheese on grilled bread with a small tomato. I called today to share my concerns to help the restaurant refine their offerings a bit, and spoke to someone who said she could help and when I asked for the manager--whose name sounded like Marquise. She was not customer oriented and was very relieved when I said I just wanted to share and was ending the call. A better response would've been to ask my name and contact info and perhaps offer a small discount for my next order. We will remain loyal customers, but a little tweaking in a few areas might be helpful.

Simple, fresh ingredients, and reasonably priced! For $16 you get a great sized salmon or mahi filet brown rice and black beans. Cooked perfectly. I highly recommend this café, a lot of indoor seating and a few outside tables as well. Located in a hip part of Eagle Rock, right on York. I'll also be looking into their prep'd meal plans!

I love the food here, really flavorful menu even though it's on the healthier side. The kimchi grilled cheese is unreal. The side salad it comes with is also amazing! Great service, friendly staff. Fast, delicious, relatively inexpensive (but not cheap). Way to go, gang!!!

Randomly found this spot for lunch. Came in and everyone was extremely friendly. Got their Jerk Chicken plate and I was very impressed. Everything in the plate had great flavor, and went very well together. Big portion too! Will definitely be coming back whenever I'm in the area.

the deviled eggs were probably the best thing I tried, they were pretty good and the tiny pickles were a cute and crunchy elevation to the flavor. The Caribbean plate lacked much flavor at all, the sauce was just spicy but it felt more like a cover up than an addition to the bland flavors on the plate--- while it was a large portion I prefer taste over quantity. The veggie burger we ordered also was lacking flavor and the patty kept falling apart and tasted very earthy but not in a good way. Servers were kind and accommodating. TLDR: food bland, large portions, good service

(the Buddha Bowl in the picture was delicious. Flavorful, well balanced)

While waiting for the smog test for my car, I chose the Four Café for a quick lunch. The Fish Burger with salad on the side was very tender and well done. Disappointing though that the staff member refused to warm up the dessert cake ...

The apricot cobbler was AMAZING! Sweet, but not so sweet that your teeth want to jump out of your mouth and run away. The iced coconut green tea was good-a green tea with a hint of coconut essence (no milk). The tea is unsweetened, so it balances out nicely with the the sweetness of the cobbler. For lunch I ordered a French onion grilled cheese sandwich and made it a combo by adding the Moroccan carrots (which has more than just carrots: white beans, almonds, and (I believe) dates accompany the carrots). Outstanding! In particular, I love their carrot dog. Who knew a hot dog made from a carrot could be so amazing? I love this place. So creative and inventive.

As a cafe standard with a fine mix of vegan and classic American dishes with nice twists, a local hang with owners commuted to fresh local - they get an A. I wish them continued success. I say the following critiques knowing I will come back, but their ambience might not be a match for eating in. I've been in a few times, the music was not background and only jazz leaving conversation challenging. The air conditioning was on high. This is enough discomfort to have an impact on choosing a restaurant w a good balance w for eating and comfort. The AC maybe explained by a hotter kitchen area. Also twice I was waited in by a young woman who seemed upset or just didn't like the customers but loved her co- workers. I appreciate pr when I'm spending $50. On 2 lunches. These could be off days. Still think this is a place to go to a few times for the beauty of the menu mix of options.

I forgot how much I loved this place. Maybe it's the parking that has kept me away but on Wednesday there was plenty. Sometimes it's a drag trying to find parking on Colorado. The food is still on point. I loved seeing the Kabocha Squash on the menu, it's a soup I looked forward to having in the Fall previously and it tasted as good as it did 7 or 8 years ago. I was in a soup and salad mood so I paired it with the warm Fall salad and it was perfect-loved the crunch from the walnuts. Big crunchy walnuts not pieces, which made the salad beautiful and tasty. Shared the gluten free oatmeal cookie with N who loved her Mahi Mahi sandwich with coleslaw in it on a brioche bun. She was like why haven't you taken me here and I told her, I have no idea. Another perk is they are doing reward points just like they do at our favorite boba places so it's more incentive to come back. Good food is great and points makes it a no brainer. I hope the parking gods help me out next time!

why is it so hard to find good salad in LOS ANGELES? Four Cafe never disappoints and is a great lunch spot. Super casual atmosphere and very good food. I love all the salads, they change seasonally. Generous portions , super healthy and full of flavor. Other items on the menus are good too. I am obsessed with the corn cakes on the menu this season. They taste like sweet corn tamales and are divine. It is off season right now ,but when they have split pea soup I always get that as well. It is vegan and so good! Reasonably priced, suitable for all diets and outdoor seating make it dog friendly.

It's a beautiful place to sit down, relax, and enjoy some of the delicious food the restaurant offers. Rhe seating area outside was great. There are many vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. The 1/2 soup with 1/2 salad or sandwich was very fulfilling. We were party of four and all our food tasted really good and well prepared. Register for their rewards to get discounts. Service was also excellent.

After running 8 miles in the morning, I was just starving and craving good food for my first meal of the day. 5 stars for the fresh, great tasting food (I guess we ordered right!) and 5 stars for the quick service. We were also glad that there was an option to have 1/2 and 1/2 combo. I got Cobb salad with Portabello panini, split pea soup and sparkling grapefruit drink. Vegetarian hubby had similar order except he got the Roasted Root veggie salad. Everything delish! Hubby said he couldn't taste well the chili flavor of the chili mint dressing but he still enjoyed it immensely. I I hope we have the same experience next time since we are planning explore other items in the menu.

Review mostly has to do with the poor service. It took me 30 minutes to get a soup and sandwich to go in what would be considered a very late lunch and no where close to dinner. So needless to say, they weren't busy in the slightest. It looked like they had 2 people on the line and 4 (yes, 4!) working service. Most of the time at least 3 of them were just talking to each other. The 1 working the most realized after me waiting for 20 minutes that my sandwich still hadn't come out and seemingly never got started. Once he spoke to the line cook it took 90 seconds to prepare. Maybe, just maybe, if some of the 4 people working service were actually working and tracking orders, the orders would be made in the correct order and come out in a timely manner. The food was not as good as it's been in the past. I also work for a local bar and restaurant and am plenty aware of how absurd prices have gotten for food. I'm all for supporting small local business but if I'm going to pay $15+ for a sandwich and $5+ for a small cup of soup, I'd hope it's well above average and that the service wasn't shockingly bad and inattentive. The soup obviously came cold after sitting and waiting in a bag for the sandwich that took forever. And maybe costs across the board could go down if there weren't 4 people being overpaid doing the job that 1-2 people could do during a slow time

Well deserving of a five star rating. When I got to the counter to order, I asked the lovely lady named Sheronn behind the counter what she suggests. I was interested in the pick two part of the menu which you can get a half a sandwich and a small salad combination. she suggested the barbecue chickpea salad and the banh mi sandwich. I sat outside curbside after ordering at counter. The food was brought out to me which was nice , super flavorful sandwich, salad was fresh and very good. food portions were bigger than I anticipated. Pleasantly surprised. It's a must try for lunch in Eagle Rock.

The jerk chicken here is fantastic, which is why I came back today to buy it again. I guess the Filipina cashier read my review. I suppose I made things awkward for her. I shouldn't have mentioned she was beautiful, I just made things weird. I hope she reads this review and forgives me.

This healthy joint is quite the spot to grab a quick and healthy meal. Their sandwiches are truly delicious, as well as their bowls. Their amount is very generous and well presented. They have alcohol options and refrigerated drinks. In addition, home made lemonade. I ordered the iced coffee this time around and really wasn't happy. It's a basic glass of coffee with ice. Their sister restaurant across the street (Penny Oven) offers a great coffee selection.

I've been going to Four Cafe for years. It's a pretty good "go to" but sometimes uneven. Today I ordered a holiday turkey bowl for delivery. The turkey was inedible. It was a jumble of skin, gristle, joint cartilage, and unidentifiable bits. One piece of dark meat (leg?) with the texture of liver. Really gross. I really loved their white bean chicken chile this summer but when I ordered for delivery I never knew whether there'd actually be any beans in it. It's chile, not soup! But when it was complete and not watered down it was really good. I was really grossed out tonight though. The turkey is normally decent but I had to toss it. YMMV.

Four Cafe has been my main restaurant for years - always fine food, excellent service, the best of salmon dinners, cheeseburgers, fish burgers, salads of every possibility, and mighty fine most dangerously enticing salty chocolate chip cookies and muffins. And friendly most excellent staff. They are surely not the cheapest place in town, but as I hit them up three or four times every week, I'd have to say they are worth it. Yay, Michelle and team.

Food is fresh, delicious and portions are generous. Highly recommend the chicken panini which comes with a side salad. Staff is friendly and welcoming.

This was my first here and WOW the Fish Burger was to die for. I typically don't go for fish burgers, but it was recommended as the favorite so I tried it and already want to go back for me! Give it a try! You won't be disappointed!

Ordered two chicken ceaser salads and when I got home to eat them I realized the chicken was colder then the salad itself. Fooled me once but never again!

Went to a wedding catered by four cafe. Everything was just outstanding! Curried shrimp in endive was delightful, fresh and flavorful. The chicken quesadilla with avocado mousse was my favorite! While the short rib sandwich with Gruyère was a big hit with the other guests. Everything was just superb. I WILL be visiting the restaurant itself to try out that menu.

Four Cafe has always been a true pearl in Eagle Rock and I send my friends there all the time, vegans and omnivores, healthy and indulgent eaters alike. The chef owner has amazing fresh ingredients and seasonal fare that I've never had a bad dish at. It's all brilliant and well seasoned, just enough of a right balance of acid to heat to savory. Something else that needs to be said though, is this neighborhood owes them a massive debt of gratitude. During the pandemic and lockdown they started to sell their entire inventory of supplies as groceries to all who needed it. Flour, coffee, vegan milks, family style servings, even toilet paper and produce. Absolutely brilliant. I sent many immune compromised people there who needed staples who couldn't risk shopping at markets as well as people who needed a brilliant meal when their hopes are low. Chef Michelle Wilton, seeing you serving customers right in their cars with you and your staff was not given enough credit for holding your community together. A few food items to look into. Vegan options: Wow! As a fussy vegan of 15 years, the menu is always different but always brilliant. The vegan burger on olive bread and the soups are just wonderful. I've had a few squash (butternut and kabocha) soups that were absolute treasures. Omnivore options: I don't go there very often with my non vegan friends but I've taken my boss, who is from Japan and used to the finest in cuisine who said their grass fed cheeseburger was one of the best he's had anywhere (and he's dined all over the world). Staff: everyone that works there is kind and friendly, usually happy to assist with ordering and recommendations. Interior dining: I'm introverted and get uncomfortable in crowded dining rooms and loud conversations. Something about the limited seating and comfortable rustic design of the place keeps meals elegant and peaceful here. In short, their entire operation.. amazing

i've been to this cafe a few times and i always have a really nice experience. their menu is health conscious, and the staff that work here are all wonderful people. the reason i always come back are the workers, they truly care about the quality of service they give you. the food is really delicious, you can tell it's made with love. the picture i took is of their veggie burger ! i also want to thank benin for being so kind every time i visit, he's amazing ! :)
