Yelp
Plentiful parking, clean, comfortable, chill restaurant. The menu is huge and my wife and I didn't get to try as much as I wanted, so we need to re-visit. The nice waitress that served us was a touch pushy on appetizers at first, but when I complimented the huge menu, she backed-off. Overall, a 3.5 star for now, for food, service & ambiance. But I think with more wisdom on ordering, the grade can easily get to 4 stars.
Nachos & salsa (B+): nachos were thin & super crispy, and salsa tasted very fresh, although a bit spicy for my taste buds. Enjoyed them thoroughly and finished the basket.
Tomato soup base (B): complimentary soup that they use as a base for much of their seafood dishes. Savory, tangy, spicy, it's all there. A little sweetness would be nice, but I guess that would be added if we ordered something using that soup base whether it be from veggies or other ingredients.
Octopus taco (B+): good, flavorful corn tortilla - I define this by having a nice, fresh aroma of corn as you chew. Some are simply tasteless but this one was yummy. The octopus was very nice, savory, with sweetness from the octopus itself. I wish there was more octopus, or served in it's original tentacles instead of all chopped up for more texture. This was my favorite dish.
Shrimp taco (B): big, fresh, crispy shrimp, cooked very nicely with good, bouncy texture. The veggies went very well with shrimp. For improvement, I wish they either fry the shrimp tails more so they become more crispy, or remove them. And the shrimp was a touch under seasoned. Nevertheless, a good taco with shrimp that was better than many restaurants I've visited.
Zarandeado sea bass (C+): having grown up on Cantonese cuisine style seafood, being able to taste the original protein's flavor is a must, especially for fish. Hence, my favorite way to eat fish is steamed, "swimming" (i.e. moments before cooking) whole fish, garnished with oil & soy plus a few scallions. In this case, although the fish seasoning had a pretty nice savory & cheesy taste, with such a thin filet cooked in a tin foil wrap, the fish became a soft mush with no original "seafood sweetness".
In conclusion, a good experience and worth heading back to try other items.
