"Fowl is a ‘beak to feet’ chicken restaurant down one end of Regent’s Street and perilously close to Leicester Square, but really it’s a Get Out Of Jail Free card when someone’s teetering on the edge of a tantrum. At this handsome shrine to poultry, adults are placated with beer towers while children are handed banana malt caramel soft serve. Although the food can sometimes lean too much (overly salty fries, extra umami mac and cheese), the chicken is great. And this is the only restaurant that’s made us consider a joint birthday party with our seven-year-old nephew. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch On weekends, families pile into curved butterscotch booths for Sunday roasts and chicken fat tarte tartins that feel a bit special. Shoppers pull up at the bar, glad to have found a place where they don’t have to use cutlery and, unlike one of the Colonel’s spots, can order a toddy sour. Fowl is a glorified fast food joint, but unsurprisingly given it’s Fallow’s sibling, quality still counts. Chicken strips are crisp and juicy, sauces are balanced—particularly a ‘Szechuan’ honey number—and while it's not going to blow anyone away, Fowl has saved us in a pinch more than once when we’re around central. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Food Rundown photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Four Strips Four strips doesn’t sound like it’ll be enough, but these are big, generous chicken tenders with a crunchy coating. The ‘Szechuan’ honey with chilli crisp and a drizzle of lemon mayo is our favourite sauce. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Mac & Cheese Mac and cheese could never be accused of being a light meal, but this one—with truffle, gruyère, and chicken fat—is especially decadent. It’s tasty and indulgent, but we’d order one for the table to share. It can get a bit much after a few bites. Koffmann Fries A handful of fries here is good, but any more than that and the savoury, salty chicken salt becomes overwhelming. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Spice Bag Fowl’s USP is their crispy, juicy chicken. So it makes sense that they know how to do a decent spice bag. The spice mix is pleasingly fiery and there’s a good helping of smoky vegetables. We just wish there was more of the slightly sweet curry sauce." - Sinéad Cranna

The food was absolutely amazing - such wonderful flavours, the best chicken dredge we’ve ever had. Our favourite was the Spice Bag fries. Our server Zach was full of knowledge, super attentive and friendly. We will be returning with friends!

We didn’t have a reservation but this wasn’t an issue on the Sunday we visited. The staff were so attentive and welcoming. The overall feel is so comfortable, the posters and lampshades are awesome. We were a couple visiting, however children of all ages were there and that was delightful. The menu was extensive and we wanted to try one of everything! The burger was outstanding, well cooked chicken with delicious glaze and slaw. The chicken salad was good although the dressing was not quite thick enough for me. The offer of a 125ml of wine was refreshing, especially at lunch time although of course you can chose a larger glass or bottle, all of which were reasonably priced for a central London eatery. A must visit if you are close, Fallow is next on our list!

Wanted to go for ages so went with my almost 3year old for lunch. Didn't disappoint. Had the sate chicken toast, fowl burger and schnitzel with yellow curry (anything with that amount of Thai basil is always going to be a winner imo) Koji hot sauce is class as well. Really relaxed, tasty food, wish there was one where I live in Glasgow. Shout out to Zach for looking after me and the wee man

My partner took me to fowl for our valentines meals, as it is the sister restaurant of fallow and we both love fried chicken we had such high hopes but we were disappointed from the start to the finish. We ordered 2 portions of wings, the yellow curry and the pink peppercorn honey ones. The pepper ones were average at best, with very minimal sauce actually on the wing, a simple toss in a bowl would have helped. The yellow curry ones just tasted like a mouthful of fish sauce and also, a very strange choice to top them with raw shallots rather than spring onions. The batter fell off the wing so easily and it was extremely salty. Then we ordered the fowl burger and the mac and cheese to share. The fowl burger was nice however it arrived with no cheese sauce, and when we noticed this the waiter didn’t offer to bring a new one just a pot of the sauce 5 minutes later, so the burger was cold by then and not as nice as it potentially could have been. The mac and cheese arrived to our table stone cold as if they had forgotten to heat it up in the oven. They then did replace this but it was so rich with mushrooms and truffle in the sauce it wasn't nice and also didn’t go with any of the rest of the food. Overall I would say everything is very salty, and overpriced, the decor of the restaurant is beautiful however the food is served in these fast food silver dishes which again doesn’t match - and we were in and out in 47 minutes over all, and for a £70 meal that is atrocious. Definitely wouldn’t recommend coming here and would save your pennies by going to somewhere like Chicken Shop, Butchies, Peck Peck or even Morley’s.

Wow, if you love wings this hands down is the only place to go. Next time I go I’m just having endless wings until I’m stuffed. Fried to crispy perfection. Forget your KFC and other fakes, these guys are in the wing business and re-invented the wing game.

fowl was such a cozy restaurant- the atmosphere was great and the decorations fit perfectly with the overall vibe as well! we started with the corn ribs and the special wings which was a sweet and limey concoction. the corn ribs were good, but i think fallow flavours a better with more of an Asian flare. the special wings were delicious though. the batter was super light and crispy, not caked on like a traditional buttermilk fried chicken. the flavours were also excellent with a great balance of sour and sweet. for our mains, we got the fowl burger and the curry chicken schnitzel. the burger was balanced well with a tangy coleslaw. however, the real star was the curry of the chicken schnitzel. (top tip: dip the burger into the curry if you get both and you’ll thank me later.) we had a great visit and would highly recommend it for a great evening out!

Very tasty and good size portions. They recently changed the menu slightly (korean half a chicken and a few other things) so if you haven't been for while, worth going back.

Had a lovely lunch here on Saturday. Came for their famous blooming onion and it did not disappoint, fabulous. Satay chicken toast was yummy too, I'd just say the chicken tenders while tasty, had too much coating. I love craggy and crunchy, but this was too heavy. Delicious fries, good wine, and really friendly service from our young waiter who was charming and well informed. I think his name was Kaz!
