"What began as a buzzy pop-up from the team behind Fallow quickly turned into this permanent restaurant whose mission is to celebrate all of the chicken, all of the time. The menu almost entirely consists of poultry-based dishes, with the animal used from beak to tail – wings and strips to start, followed by schnitzel, rotisserie and burgers for the main event. Even the desserts get in on the action, via a chicken fat tarte Tatin. It all comes with a playful touch, but the chefs behind it are serious, utilising quality produce with real skill." - Michelin Inspector

Fowl - Review - St. James's - London - The Infatuation

"Fowl is a ‘beak to feet’ chicken restaurant down one end of Regent’s Street and perilously close to Leicester Square, but really it’s a Get Out Of Jail Free card when someone’s teetering on the edge of a tantrum. At this handsome shrine to poultry, adults are placated with beer towers while children are handed banana malt caramel soft serve. Although the food can sometimes lean too much (overly salty fries, extra umami mac and cheese), the chicken is great. And this is the only restaurant that’s made us consider a joint birthday party with our seven-year-old nephew. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch On weekends, families pile into curved butterscotch booths for Sunday roasts and chicken fat tarte tartins that feel a bit special. Shoppers pull up at the bar, glad to have found a place where they don’t have to use cutlery and, unlike one of the Colonel’s spots, can order a toddy sour. Fowl is a glorified fast food joint, but unsurprisingly given it’s Fallow’s sibling, quality still counts. Chicken strips are crisp and juicy, sauces are balanced—particularly a ‘Szechuan’ honey number—and while it's not going to blow anyone away, Fowl has saved us in a pinch more than once when we’re around central. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Food Rundown photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Four Strips Four strips doesn’t sound like it’ll be enough, but these are big, generous chicken tenders with a crunchy coating. The ‘Szechuan’ honey with chilli crisp and a drizzle of lemon mayo is our favourite sauce. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Mac & Cheese Mac and cheese could never be accused of being a light meal, but this one—with truffle, gruyère, and chicken fat—is especially decadent. It’s tasty and indulgent, but we’d order one for the table to share. It can get a bit much after a few bites. Koffmann Fries A handful of fries here is good, but any more than that and the savoury, salty chicken salt becomes overwhelming. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Spice Bag Fowl’s USP is their crispy, juicy chicken. So it makes sense that they know how to do a decent spice bag. The spice mix is pleasingly fiery and there’s a good helping of smoky vegetables. We just wish there was more of the slightly sweet curry sauce." - Sinéad Cranna

Having been to Fallow last year I was desperate to try their sister restaurant, Fowl. I was not disappointed. The menu seems simple but every dish is selected and crafter with such care it makes it impossible to choose, which is a fantastic excuse to order a bit of everything! Which is exactly what we did! The Chicken Satay toast was probably the dish I was least excited about but ended up as one of the standouts. Beautifully seasoned and with such a depth of flavour. The blooming onion was a lot of fun and so simple. Wings and strips both on point and some of the best I've had anywhere. The Buffalo burger was incredible and I could have inhaled the whole thing instead of sharing it. Mac and Cheese? No words. The drinks are also fantastic and compliment the food so well. It's a great relaxed atmosphere and I'll be coming back soon to try the things I missed.

Absolutely clucking brilliant! We visited FOWL yesterday and were seriously impressed. It’s not just another chicken place this one’s got style, flavour, and a real sense of fun. The chicken was juicy, crispy, and packed with seasoning, and the sides were spot on. You can tell they’ve put real thought into the menu everything feels bold but balanced. Service was friendly and relaxed, and the vibe of the place made for a great evening. If you’re after proper quality chicken in central London, FOWL absolutely delivers. We'll definitely be back highly recommend!

After having a Sunday lunch at their other restaurant Fallow 2 days earlier we though we would give Fowl a try... Never new chicken could taste so good. Great service, drinks, atmosphere and food. Special mention to Toby from Fallow who we had met the previous Sunday as he helped us with some other recommendations .... he was off duty doing a wine tasting, he noticed us and came over and made sure everything was OK. Absolutely professional, genuine and friendly guy. Will defiantly will be back on our next trip to the UK.

The food is great If you’ve been to fallow you expect nothing less The sticky rice under the rotisserie chicken… insane. The only way to improve the dish is to give some of the sauce on the chicken for dipping The breading on the tenders and wings was perfect The size of the tenders of wings is great value for money The peach lager that was in the guest spot was the perfect drink for this meal

Oh dear. I really wanted to like this place as it is owned by the same people running Fallow nearby. We sat outside on a nice sunny Saturday afternoon, and the restaurant was not overly busy. Food arrived in good time and most of it was a disappointment. The Dragon Punch mocktail at £7 was a tiny glass full of ice with very little liquid (refer to photograph). The fowl burger was a disgrace. Zero seasoning and not tasty at all; at these prices you would expect much much better. Also, minimal chips (is there a potato shortage?). The bloomin onion was a blooming disgrace! Sat in a river of oil, it was barely edible (refer to photographic). Now then. £12 for 6 wings is expensive. They tasted good. However - these are not full wings - they are half wings. (Refer to photograph). Therefore you are actually paying £4 per wing!!! Damn! Where is the gold leaf on them? Overpriced is an understatement. To be fair buffalo burger and house coleslaw were on point. I did speak to a manager and highlighted the above, and a discount was offered (refer to receipt). As a final kick in the nuts, the service charge was included which would include the chefs who failed to cook a burger etc. Also, there is a charity charge thrown at you, why? Whilst I appreciate restaurants are struggling, highly priced simple food should be served with high end taste. To survive in the current the environment, get your act together!

I was looking forward to eating here so much as their sister restaurant Fallow is a favourite of mine. Sadly my experience didn’t match up to what I expected. We ordered wings and were a little disappointed that they were coated with a pour on rather than the crispy skin. They tasted ok but I kind of expected better. The real disappointment sadly was the mac n cheese which had no flavour and neither did their Buffalo Burger. I understand this is my opinion and your mileage may vary but the food didn’t quite hit the mark sadly (especially with what we paid) The servers were great and the restaurant itself is lovely but the food may require another look.

Lovely staff. Cool vibe for a posh chicken shop. Treated my dog nicely. The gilda was horrific. By far the very worst I’ve ever had. I was shocked. I hadn’t conceived it could be done so poorly. Tasteless pepper, the wrong olives. You can buy better packet ones from supermarkets in the basque region. It was a shocker. Initially, it was forgotten on the order and I wish it stayed that way. Sesame satay chicken toast, sublime. Rich hit of flavour and a layered set of textures. More than delivered. Everyone should get this. Chicken salt fries, pretty solid. Would recommend. The wings. I asked for the sauce on the side and suggest that’s how they should be generally or they could get soggy. The underlying chickens are ones that have had longer and healthier lives. But they got a pretty raw deal in the kitchen. I wouldn’t recommend them. Something needs to be changed with how they’re done so that they can be cooked through fully to come away from the bone easily. Mine were at a level that some people would be shy about eating.
