Franco's Latin Table

I was blown away with how tasty the food was in this restaurant. Our group ordered quite a few things on the menu. I tried everything and loved every single item. I have never had Peruvian food before so I have no point of reference for Peruvian food. But…I’ve been eating food my whole life so I am what is known as an expert eater. The food at Franco’s was objectively amazing! I’m so glad I went here and I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended!!!

Everything was delightful, from the wonderful service to the amazing tasty food. El pollo en brasa without doubt is a dish worth trying, never tried chicken like this but definitely now it's one of my favorite dishes! :)

Pan grilled fish (I think trout) is excellent and not on the lunch menu but they will make it for you if you ask nicely. :) friendly place and quiet for talking. Perfect for business lunch or catching up.

Definitely worth the trip if you're local and wasn't a change of pace in your food. Their alcoholic drinks are pretty good too. I would suggest coming early and paying for parking because after 6pm parking is difficult.

Surprisingly tasty!! I’m not a steak lover, but all of a sudden, I craved one today, so I just went to a place near my house for the first time. It was surprisingly delicious, and it put me in a great mood.✨

The food was very tasty and the portion sizes aren't too small! I hear it gets busy for dinner, but it wasn't too busy at lunchtime. We got: Tacos Birria- Absolutely to die for. The braised meat was so tender and juicy Pupusas- Very good, not too greasy, and the pickled veggies were fresh and crunchy Fried plantains- cooked well, not too greasy or soggy

I came here on a friend's recommendation and really enjoyed the food for brunch. We ordered delicious drinks like the Inka Mimosa Cava and the homemade Chicha Morada. For food, I ordered the Ceviche Chino (ahi tuna, ponzu, wonton chips) and my husband got the huevos rancheros. Both were very tasty. The service wasn't the most attentive. We were the only ones in the restaurant, and the staff stuck to the bar most of the time. The place has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and is good for groups.

Eating here was really a treat. I started off with the plantain chips and the plantains. Both were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. Then I had the chicken stew dish with rice and that was also amazing and so hearty that I could only eat half of it. The service was fantastic, and the restaurant was a fun place to eat at.

Ambiance is casual. Service staff is friendly. The food was delightful and the portions are large enough that it can be shared. All the dishes had great flavors and taste The menu had many options. A definite must visit!

Came here for lunch with a large party. Sangria was nice. We order some fried plantains, dessert plaintains with some whipped cream. Very delicious. This time I ordered the fish stew. It came with rice. It has a coconut flavor and the sauce was beige in color. It was delicious. All the fish, mussels and clams were cooked perfectly. I even enjoyed the leftovers at home!

Came on a Friday night around 6:30pm for a party of 2. There was no wait and we were seated right away. The restaurant is casual yet social. I enjoyed the lomo saltado entree, the flavoring was spot on. We also got the halibut ceviche and grilled octopus as appetizers. Flavors were light, I did not feel the seafood was the most fresh.

In a neighborhood where there are so many good restaurants, this is definitely one you should not overlook. I had the adobo de chancho -- the pork was incredibly tender and delicious, paired nicely with a Peruvian lager. Service was very friendly, and the place feels quite intimate and homey. There's plenty of seating indoors, as well as outdoors in a parklet. I would definitely come here again!

Food was amazing. Calamari appetizer fantastic. Kale salad was very tasty. Everyone loved what they had. I had rotisserie chicken, subbed out sautéed spinach for fries. Also came with a green salad. Wife had chicken fajitas. I thought by looking at them that they were going to be the least special, but the flavor was amazing. Son had braised pork. He usually has entree envy and wishes he got something else but he loved it. Red sangria hit the spot. Only thing that was less than perfect was that we were hungry and there was only one server for the diners. But he worked hard and we didn't experience huge delays

Stopped by for dinner & got seated quickly. Our server brought us some complimentary chips & salsa. We ordered the chicken chicharrón which I highly recommend, it was crispy & paired perfectly with the dipping sauce that came with it. The ceviche mixto was disappointing, it needed some kind of seasoning, a bit of salt would've been great. Safe to say I will not be ordering that again. On to the main dishes, the lomo saltado & arroz con mariscos were both a 5/5 so yummy, flavorful & filling. Unfortunately the Halibut was just okay, lacked seasoning, specially the mash that came with it, that definitely needed some salt. I'm deducting a star because even though we got seated quickly, the service was slow. The place was pretty empty & twice we had to call the server over, once to order & again to get the check. Secondly, I asked for some hot sauce, spicy salsa, anything with spice in it & the server offered me some habanero which I gladly took. I was just disappointed to see that they charged me $2 for what looked to be 1 blended habanero. This additional cost should have been mentioned. Overall, this place was great & I highly recommend if you're in the area

I've been been here a couple times. Tired 7 dishes so far all with fantastic taste and high quality ingredients. Definitely recommend Ambiance is taqueria style. Service is attentive and friendly. Always finish the food too fast, then I remember I didn't take photos.

A very nice and cozy restaurant with great service and good food. The plantains are a must order and I love their version of the paella.

Though I have worked in San Francisco for years, I have never walked around the West Portal area. During a day when I had some time to kill in the city after teaching a full day of classes and before making the trek back home to Oakland, I literally stumbled across this place. I happened to be the only customer, and immediately I was met with smiles, seating, and service upon entrance. The restaurant is cozy, fitting around around 20-25 people comfortably with a little bar at the back. The food came out fresh, hot, and ready within 15 minutes. I had this Bistek dish containing thin strips of steaks chopped up with vegetables. Oddly enough, I was a big fan of the rice! Not too mushy! Not too sticky! A little crunch but cooked all-the-way-through! And I can't forget about the house-made salsa. Spicy! Solid service! Good people! Support small businesses!

Cozy environment, kind staff, delicious food. Our favorites were the tuna causa, ceviche Classico and the fried yucca. The n/a chicha is delicious- a festive sangria like drink with no alcohol. Perfect for this time of year and for those who can't drink. We will be back to try more things.

This mi Amigos is what I'd call and consider... DESTINATION DINING I'd make it a point to come back here. I'd customize a trip around planning on coming here. I'd go out of my way to come here. We had a great experience here. Fortunately we were in proximity of West Portal in SF. We were visiting from out of town, but come to SF often enough to look forward to coming back again soon. I had the Blackened Halibut and it was perfect. Others at the table had different menu items with no complaints. I saw at least 2-3 other "must try" items that has me craving coming back. The service was super friendly and food was fresh, fast and good quality and quantity with no complaints pricing. Vilma was the server's name on our receipt and she was perfect. Parking for novices could be hard in West Portal on the street itself, but if you know how to park in the adjacent residential neighborhood's parallel free street parking and can walk a few blocks, it's easy peasy lemon squeezy to find parking.

We just love Franco's Latin Table. We love the food and the ambiance and the service. Last the night our party shared Calamari Frito, Ceviche Chino, Tiradito Salmon, Plaintain Chips, Mariscada, and Chocolate Cake. Everything was really well presented and delicious. We'll be back soon!

Decent Peruvian food with great drinks in a warm setting. My friends and I were looking for a dinner spot in West Portal, and Franco's looked like a good option, so I made a reservation a couple days ahead for Friday dinner at 7 pm. It wasn't that crowded, so we probably didn't need one, but since we had 5 people, I figured better safe than sorry. Parking was a bit annoying but not terrible. All of the spots on the main street were full, but we found a spot on a cross residential street. I had a margarita ($10) to start, and one friend ordered a Michelada ($7). Both drinks were absolutely fantastic. In fact, I'd say this was the best margarita I've had at a restaurant in a while. For food, I split the pollo a la brasa ($21) with a friend as neither of us were super hungry. I'm glad we shared, as it was a massive portion (essentially half a roast chicken). We were both stuffed by the end and couldn't finish the last couple bites. The dark meat parts of the chicken were flavorful and not too dry. However, once I started eating the breast, I had to take small bites and chew because it was both bland and dry. I started dipping the breast meat in the complimentary salsa provided, as it had zero flavor when I tried it by itself. It was a nice place to get together and have a nice meal and drinks with friends without feeling rushed, but don't expect the food to be amazing.

Food was delicious! I had the Lomo saltado, meat was tender & juicy to perfection. Will definitely be coming back, service was great!

Came here on a sunday for "brunch" but we mainly ordered from their lunch menu. It was fairly empty so there's no need to worry about making reservations. Also parking was fairly easy to find a block away on the side streets/residential area. Aji de Gallina: great amazing. I've never had Peruvian food before so this opened an entire new door for me. But it's like TOO MUCH CHICKEN. i definitely can't finish this dish for one meal. It's a lot. The rice to chicken ratio is wack, as in there needs to be more rice if one was to eat this in one sitting but it was fine. It's just too much of one thing. My tastebuds gets bored easily but the first ten - twenty bites was phenomenal. I will definitely be coming back to try out more dishes!

Love this place. The waitress is always nice and always smiling and provides great service. We were able to come here 45mins before closing time and were still able to order our food. The employees were great and we never felt rushed when it finally did close. The food is always on point. I frequent here for their birria tacos which are super delicious but tonight we had steak and chicken. Both dishes were excellent and flavorful. Can't go wrong with either dishes and recommend them to anyone who likes steak or chicken. This place is great for large gatherings and small parties. The amenities are nice and very cozy. The staff are friendly and always inviting. I recommend this place if you like great tasting food.

The food is as delicious as ever, I've been coming here since the days of Fresca. I only wish the environment became a little cozier. The wait staff is always welcoming, knowledgeable, and really, really nice. Rainbow trout is my favorite, even if you have to be careful not to stumble onto a fishbone, but the taste is so good. I will definitely be back.

Parking in neighborhood. Meters or residential limited time. The food ordered was fish and chips, excellent, hot with hot fries. Pulled pork with rice and bean was good, wife complained meat was too salty. Service was excellent, refilled soda, took away finished plates. Small cafe, so get there early or late to get a table without waiting.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Franco's. From the helpful and friendly service to the delicious food. Everything was top notch. We will be back to sample more of the menu - and to repeat the amazing starters pictured here. We enjoyed our main courses - trout, seafood stew, paella-style dish, and fajitas. The tres leches cake topped it all off. Highly recommend!

Franco's is a wonderful spot for inventive and delicious Peruvian dishes. The menu has a lot of savory dishes like adobo, ceviche, etc. The Tostada de Tinga was my favorite - stewed chicken and veggies on a corn tortilla. Service is spot on and the venue is casual and perfect for small groups.

Franco's nice outside parklet caught my eye one day walking from West Portal MUNI station. Today, I finally got to try it! Both the restaurant and parklets are suited for small groups with enough quiet to have a conversation but not too quiet that it feels weird. Street parking was pretty easy (hurray for free Sun parking!) and service was quick. I had the chino ceviche and the aji de gallina. Chino Ceviche (not pictured): I heard from a friend that this place had great ceviche. The ahi tuna, jalapeño, and wonton chips piqued my interest, and it was good! But I felt it a little underwhelming and the portion was smaller than ai'd like for $17. The flavors didn't truly meld together - it tasted like dipping tuna in ponzu. I would try a different ceviche next time. Aji de Gallina: Again this was good but underwhelming. I really liked the walnuts in there to break the texture monotony. My biggest issue with this dish would be that the chicken (maybe they used breast meat?) itself didn't have much flavor. I wish the sauce had more dimension and spice as well. I got pretty tired of the dish halfway through. My friends had the pollo a la brasa and fish tacos which looked better and they both liked them. The polla a la brasa was huge! I would go again as I feel this spot has a lot of potential but would not order the chino ceviche or aji de gallina again. Giving this a 4 stars with consideration of my friends meals and the overall experience.

I went to West Portal this evening because I was in the mood for Indian food, but then I saw this place and decided to give it a try. I'm always wary of trying a new restaurant for fear of bad food, but this place had lots of great Yelp reviews, so I figured this would be a good choice. I ordered the roasted chicken with fries and green salad, not because I couldn't afford a pricier meal, but because I needed to try a simple, less expensive dish first. If it was good, I'd return and order something pricier. But I must have ordered the wrong thing, because the food sucked. First of all, the presentation was bad: The food was placed on a rectangular platter and it just didn't fit properly. Don't they have bigger plates? The chicken, which apparently had been refrigerated before I ordered, was greasy and barely warm. Did I order blackened chicken? The fries, all 8 or 10 of them, were placed under the chicken. Why? To absorb the grease? The green salad was actually spring mix with spinach leaves straight out of a plastic bag, not washed, and quite frankly, I don't eat such crap. I was expecting a prepared green salad made with chopped lettuce and tomato slices and whatever else. You'd think I would have mentioned all of this to the waiter, but after he dropped off my food, he disappeared. He didn't return to ask me if everything was OK or if I wanted another drink. Do they serve bread with their meals? I didn't get any. I realize that the other dishes served at Franco's may actually be good, but I won't be returning to find out. What a disappointment! I would like to suggest to the cooks and owners of this restaurant to try the roasted chicken at Il Pollaio in North Beach. If you try it, you will know how a good roasted chicken should look and taste.

I made reservations here for a birthday via yelp and I put a special request in but i'll get to that later. The food overall was good and the portions are huge! The ceviche sampler was so big i didn't think it fit on table. Some of the samples were spicy but overall pretty good! There's at least 5 or 6 samples for you to try here. I got the peruvian purple cider and i think i made a mistake getting this on one of the coldest days in SF. It was also super sweet to where i stopped drinking after 5 sips. As for the main dish I got the Aji de Gallina, this was my favorite dish when i used to eat at Fresca and this brings back the memories. I wonder is it the same chef as it taste almost the same. This a creamy dish with shredded chicken over rice. There's walnuts on top so if you are allergic , tell them in advance. I didn't even get to finish half this plate because it was so huge. For dessert we got the tres leches. It was my first time getting it and in my reservation i asked if they can put a candle on the cake but they didn't. But the owner made it up because i got an irish coffee with this cake which was paired perfectly with it! I will love it if they did delivery, but so far i can't find them on any delivery apps, oh well i shall return.

The food, prices, and service at Franco's is amazing! Outstanding! Each time we go we hope Bilma is there because she's awesome, cares about our preferences and makes great recommendations. The chef and other cooks are so friendly and accommodating. The flavors (papusas, lomo saltado, whole fish, soups, salmon risotto, civiches, steak salad, causas) are excellent and we'll continue going back as often as possible. The environment is homey, quaint - not too big, not too small. Highly recommend visiting - west portal is a cool little town as well.

We had a nice weekend brunch here a few weeks ago, sitting on the patio. Their dishes skew heavily towards Peruvian, so we were excited to try something different. The seafood was fresh and tasty, as we started with a ceviche and fried calamari. It's always a pet peeve when calamari is overcooked and chewy, but here it was light and delicate. We also shared a bowl of mussels, and the broth was delicious. For our mains, we had a steak sandwich with fries and an egg scramble. Both were tasty, especially with an extra side of their house hot sauce. For desserts, we had the donut and tres le ches. Donut was ok, heavy and sweet.

We were able to get a reservation easily for a Saturday brunch. The place was empty so we wondered if this place is really 41/2 stars on Yelp? That's absolutely right!!! Their food was super delicious! We had 9 people ranging from kids to grandma, pescatarian and meat eaters. We all LOVED our food. Sampler Ceviche was delicious. Seafood dishes, meat dishes and kids Mac and cheese were prepared perfectly. The service staff were so nice and attentive. We will definitely be back.

We ordered the Lomo Saltado from Mcarthys Irish Bar during the warriors game! What a pleasant surprise to have it delivered on a covered platter to our table. The steak was tender and so soft and juicy. They had large steak fried and tomato with red onions and a side of white rice. As someone who lived in Peru for a few months, it was pretty good and my taste buds were happy :) The marinating sauce was delicious that the whole plate was devoured quickly --including the rice. I'd go back again to try the rest of their food after this experience!

We came to Franco's for a little birthday dinner with family. Called ahead and our table was ready for us even though we were a few minutes late because parking was hard to find. The restaurant as quite cozy. Our servers were really nice and we didn't wait long before water and menus were handed to us. We ordered 2 types of ceviche, the clasico and ceviche chino, which we enjoyed. The fish and other ingredients were fresh. We preferred the ceviche chino. The soy sauce and ponzu added a nice complexity to the dish. Not to say the clasico wasn't also delicious. The fish was just as fresh, a nice spice. For appetizers the chicharron de pollo and empanadas were nicely fried and crispy. The arroz con mariscos was amazing I think. I love shellfish so I greatly enjoyed it. I was also pleasantly surprised to enjoy the calamari and baby octopus. I'm not usually a fan so you know this was prepared well. I didn't try them but our group also ordered the link saltado and the pollo a la brasa. They all said their plates were delicious. And the portions were pretty big. We paired our food with the house sangria. It was delicious. The wine and sweetness was well balanced. We liked the variety of dishes on the menu. So even the pickiest of eaters in our group found something to eat. The only reason I'm removing a star is that they did forget my food and I didn't receive my ceviche until I reminded our waiter. I also never received the side dish of plantain chips I ordered however they did end up apologizing and removing them from our check. Overall we enjoyed our meal and our server was nice. We will definitely come again.

Their "Franco's Burger" is very good, delicious. And we like to order "Pollo A La Brasa" for takeout - their rotisserie chicken is tasty always.

Lomo Saltado - 4/5 - A pretty good version compared to what I have had at other places. It's a good amount of meat in the serving which I loved. Service: 4/5 - Friendly waitstaff Ambiance: 3.5/5 - The tables are fairly spread out which was nice.

What a pleasant surprise. We were going to catch dinner before a comedy show and walk in wait time at a place down the street was 1.5 hours. So we looked for something else close and stumbled across Franco's. Appetizers were good, food was delicious and made from fresh ingredients. Drinks were unique. There was no wait and the ambiance was nice. I would recommend.

Really enjoyed this location. We recently came here as a fun reunion spot. The food and drinks were delicious. Highly recommend the Birria tacos because your tastebuds and stomach will thank you. Great flavor and 3 come with the order. They do have some heat before you dip it into the sauce too. The soup was delicious and filling. Filled with hearty vegetables and flavor.

After the disappointment of my last visit, I thought I would never return. But I was hungry and didn't feel like cooking. I decided to give Franco's another chance. I was pleasantly surprised. As expected on a Monday night, not very busy. I presented my vaccination card and was seated promptly and given the menu. I ordered an Aperol Spritz and the Empanadas de Pollo. Both arrived quickly. . I ordered the Causa Atún. The empanadas were hot and tasty and the sauce had a nice kick. The drink was refreshing. The Causa was placed at my table before I finished my appetizer. The Causa was also delicious. I couldn't ask for better service. The waiter was attentive without hovering. Reviewing the check, I felt the prices were appropriate for the food quality and service. I plan to add this restaurant back into the rotation.

Franco's is an excellent heir of Fresca that used to be in that location. The food was excellent, well presented, and arrived quickly. We had Franco's versions of risotto and paella that we thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were knowledgeable and attentive. The restaurant is a bit small and gets noisy when is filled with patrons though.

West Portal is full of great eateries - and Franco's is my favorite. Honestly, there's two places with great lomo saltado - Franco's up here in SF and Limon down in the Peninsula. Parking can look plentiful but actually be hard to find - one trick is to go residential and walk over. Honestly it's a lot faster than hunting for parking :) Service was good - at the time, I think they were short-staffed so no problem there. And yes, the lomo saltado! Love the flavor - almost has Filipino base that has that golden soy sauce flavor with french fries to boot. The beef was tender and delicious - just a lovely dish :) In the past, I've gotten other entrees to switch things up - and they've also been really good! I just really like lomo saltado, so now I just stick with this. As a table, we got the fried plantains as well - a little expensive for what it is but if you want it, you either have to make it or bite the bullet right? Still delicious, not too sweet, reminds me of turon :) All in all, Franco's is my go-to dinner place in West Portal. Brunch or dinner - honestly it might be the best place on the street!

The salmon ceviche is so good it melts in your mouth. The Lomo Saltado was perfect I had the flan for dessert and it was amazing.

This was my first time visiting a Latin eatery and I was pleasantly surprised at the many options on the menu. We started our lunch date with a mimosa! There were so many things I wanted to try. We opted for the empanada for an appetizer and finished with a main entree Ahi something?! It was a wonderful dish with chicken! The photo does not do it Justice. We went for lunch on a Tuesday evening around 12p and were able to sit outdoors right away.

I never noticed this place at West Portal but found it on Yelp when looking for places to get dinner at. They have a patio/outdoor dining, but I opted out for that since it was cold out. Food/Drink: - Empanada de Pollo (10/10): Wow! This starter surprised me. It came out fresh and hot, so each bite was crunchy. The flavors all mixed well together and the dipping sauce tied it together. Fair warning - the sauce is a bit spicy! - Mariscada Salvadorean Seafood Stew (8/10): There were a lot of different seafood (crab, fish, mussels, shrimp) in this (surprisingly!), and the flavors were good but did seem a bit watered down. The coconut milk also overpowered the taste, but if you do like coconut milk, this dish is for you. - Homemade Chicha Morada (10/10): This was really good. It's kind of hard to describe what it tastes like (grapes maybe?), but there were pieces of apples in the drink that was a nice touch. The description on the menu made me think that it would taste like corn since it's made from purple corn, but it tasted nothing like that.

Great Peruvian spot that we will come back to, and sample more of their dishes. So happy we ventured to West Portal! Loved: yuca fries- cooked perfectly, nice crunch but supper fluffy inside. Ceviche Clasico- nice blend of spicy and sour, served with delicious pieces of fish. Arroz Con Mariscos- great variety of seafood (mussles, clams, fish, octopus, shrimp) in a light but flavorful rice. Portion is also big enough for sharing.
