Let me be "Frank" with you, I love Hot Dogs. One of the most Common & Classic things to be eaten all over the world. Typically meat packed in tube form basically cooked wither Grilled until charred & crispy or steamed in Hot Water. As soon as you put it in the Bun the possibilities are endless with the vast array of Toppings you can place on it.
Franks made from NY Heritage Pork & Grass Fed Beef, with unique toppings giving them certain Names. The Standard goes as Simplistic as to have Ketchup, Mustard, Onions & Pickles (in other words the Works), What an honor it must be to have a Hot Dog named after the guy who was the Food Critic for the New York Times for 5 Years (Frank Bruni) topped with Fresh Kraut & Spicy Mustard.
To a Hot Dog with All Beef Chili, Chicago style packed on with Tomato Jam and Spicy Hot Peppers, the Fixings of a Bahn Mi (Pickled Veggies, Jalapeno, Cucumber & Sriracha) to getting Hogtied with a Hot Dog piled high with Bacon, Onions & BBQ Sauce.
My 1st taste of there creations came about at (where I usually get to know a lot of new restaurants) the Taste of Buffalo (this was back in 2014). The Big Yellow & Blue Truck with big Red lettering was just parked outside of the Circle. I was in line with about 15 or so people in front of me, by the time I got to the Front I saw a couple of Wienies that caught my interest. The one that sounded decent to me was the Holy Moly. Since I was eating about 2 dozen different things at the time I only got had half of one topped with Guacamole, Cilantro & Sriracha.
This would be a Hot Dog, I would enjoy from Buffalo all the way down to Mexico for. Creamy Guacamole combined with Sriracha that Burns a bit. My first real opportunity at eating at Frank's came a few years later. After having Breakfast a few hours ago (see my review for JJ's Cafe), I spent the next 3 Hours walking up & Down Kenmore to pass the time just waiting for them to open up.
So along the way I had to look around in some various Stores and walk around the area just to pass the Time. As it was approaching opening time and (pun intended because of the intersection it was) I was Starin out to the other side of the Street thinking of how good and Pretentious these Super-Weenie's are. Obviously I was their 1st Customer of the Day since I got there as soon as they opened, I walked in and looked all around at Tile Floors, Metal Chairs, Wooden Tables and a Novelty Food Truck perched on the Counter where you cash in for your Food.
What really blew me away was someone devoting their time to make the Frank's Logo entirely out of Lego's. The time came for me to order so I got the one dog that struck me as Intriguing, the Violet Beauragarde. There are elements on here that differ between normal and abnormal, it was piled high with Crispy Fried Onions, Cheddar Cheese (but the real Kicker) was the Blueberry BBQ Sauce. It took me a few minutes to comprehend why they named this after one of the Characters from the Classic Willy Wonka Movie.
But as I went to take a bite I kept wondering, would I turn Violet, would I blow up like a Balloon. The answer is no, this ain't a Movie, its real Life, I bit into it and got Crunchy, Cheesy and Rich all in one. I never thought that a BBQ Sauce made with my Favorite Fruit could taste so Good. Like it was really good but a bit pricey to me, this would not make me come in everyday and spend $ 6.50 on with a Side of Fries. I would stop in every once in while to indulge on Mega powered Tubes of Yumminess.
Hot Dogs like so many other Foods (Pasta, Ramen, Burgers etc) are a Canvas for anything you want to put on top of them. Just go for it and let your imagination run Wild, that's my final word Dog. !!!
