"New Haven is synonymous with two things: Yale and Frank Pepe's pizza. Open since 1925, Frank Pepe's has earned cult status for its perfectly blistered, coal-fired pizza, but for decades, getting a bite meant taking a ride up I-95. In recent years, Frank Pepe has expanded, and with this location in Yonkers, fans can score their favorite sans traffic and long lines. This outpost's decor and attitude are free from pretension since everything is singularly focused on the pizza. All varieties, whether it's the original tomato pie with mozzarella or a specialty pie, such as the famous white clam, are available in three sizes, so go ahead and order a few different types. Chase the char with a thirst-quenching sip of East Haven's beloved Foxon Park soda." - Michelin Inspector

Frank Pepe in Yonkers totally lived up to the hype. The coal oven crust was fantastic—crispy, a little charred in the best way, and full of flavor. We went on a weekend during prime time and had to wait about 15–30 minutes to be seated, but once we were in, the service was impressively fast. The atmosphere felt warm and authentic, and you can tell they use high-quality ingredients. You have the option to build your own pizza or choose from their specials. We tried the Caprese pizza and also made a custom one with meatballs, mushrooms, and black olives on a tomato and cheese base. The mozzarella was especially fresh and delicious. Overall, it was a really good experience—great crust, solid flavors, and a place I’d definitely return to.

Google
If you’re craving solid New York-style pizza, Frank Pepe in Yonkers delivers. The pepperoni pizza was simple, classic, and hit the spot with a crisp crust and quality toppings. Service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant was clean with a fun, casual vibe. I wrapped up the meal with a slice of tiramisu, which was light, creamy, and a perfect finish. A great stop for a no-fuss, satisfying pizza experience.

Google
Frank Pepe Pizzeria is celebrating 100 years of amazing food and service! Their pizza is top-tier in density, taste, presentation and price. It is a must, when we are on Central Avenue— you should give them a try, you haven’t already, it’s so worth it.

Rodney “Zone” Askew

Google
Hands down, they have the best pizza in ny. As soon as I walked through the door, the greeter and server by the name of Anthony was customer service at its finest. With his warm, welcoming approach and his knowledge of the restaurant, he made my first experience amazing. This spot is a must if you love pizza. You won't regret it.

Google
Frank pepe aka old reliable aka best pizza aka eat Italian aka go crazy on pizza aka every topping and seasoning you could want aka if you don't like it get out of town!!! Loved our experience at Frank Pepe's. We had the chicken diavolo and the onion, sausage, mushroom! I want to come back during the July to September tomato season to try the original tomato pie. Nice touch having peroni on tap

Google
The pies are huge! I always get the Margherita, it’s so fresh and tasty (the basil is sooo good!!!). Seriously the best pizza in the area. They have old fashioned sodas too which are cool and taste great, I recommend the ginger ale. Love the old fashioned vibe.

Google
Great pizza and fantastic staff. They were super helpful and attentive to our large party. The food is amazing and delicious. We had lots of options to choose from.

We came in for takeout. Antonio was helping us placed an order. He was really nice and accommodating. This pizza place is a hidden gem! Definitely coming back.

Yelp
A decent pie. The white pizza is better than other options. Overall it's a good spot to grab some pizza and the vibe is decent as well. I wasn't a huge fan of their margarita pizza (somewhat burned) and the onions, mushrooms, and mozzarella pie which was somewhat soggy. It's certainly one of the better pizza spots in the area so it's worth a visit!

Armando A.

Yelp
Afternoon lunch. Good food , booths were spacious, and service was good. Definitely would come again .

Don A.

Yelp
Typical Pepe's. Nice fresh salad and a deliciously crispy pizza. Fast friendly service and the typical clean white diner feel. Perfect

Maricar T.

Yelp
It's an affordable quality pizza. Highly recommended for groups. We ordered the pie sampler that we thought we couldn't finish, but we did eat all of the pies. foxon soda is a good match.

Keith S.

Yelp
The absolute best pizza spot in Westchester. They focus on quality ingredients and their pizza really reflects it in taste. I have never had a bad experience with their food. Everything is top notch. They also have the absolute best Meatball and Ricotta Pie you will ever have! You can take that to the bank my friends. They are a classic coal-fired pizza place with the classic "char" on their pies. It really makes a difference the way they cook their pizza. When you eat food from here, you can really tell the quality of every ingredient in the food as well as the time and "love" they put into their dishes.

Yelp
Lovely little pizza spot out here in Central Ave. Our front hostess was laurielle. I'm not sure of spelling, pls forgive me. Our waiter was Jeffrey. The sweetest, best smiling waiter. The pizza was delicious - Spot on! the ambiance was calm. Music was classic (from my time. Lol), volume was good enough for hearing your conversation. Clean cute restroom. Nice cozy space in each cubicle like sitting area. I love their floor tiles too Con: Pizza is a bit on the pricey side for me, a small pie with 8 mini super thin slices (margarita ) 2 gingerales ran about 23 bucks. Did not fill me.

Eugenio L.

Yelp
Good and expensive. You get what you pay for. The service at the restaurant was mediocre at best. I ordered the pizza online and I made reservations simultaneously. When we arrived, I was asked if we wanted to be seated. I told the server I had made reservations and placed an order online. She replied, "I have to check with the manager if you can be seated. We don't allow people to order online and also be seated." I was bewildered. We were seated anyway, so it worked out anyways. What I'm thinking is that they are trying to make sure we are seated and served so that the servers get tipped for table service. The pizza was Delicious per usual. We had the classic tomato & mozzarella pie + a small sized custom pie with fresh basil, mushrooms, onions and extra garlic! It was very good! Tasty as hell. Only problem like I stated before is that it's relatively expensive. I'm not complaining as much as I'm giving reviewees a warning before they come to this establishment for food. Ohh.. and we had water no sodas or anything else. Ambience is fine& comfortable, nothing to write home about.

Yelp
While in Yonkers, my family asked to meet here. I have never been to Frank Pepe so I quickly agreed. This one is located on Central Avenue near Snake Hill. I haven't been to Yonkers in so long I don't remember the actual street name. There's a parking lot and meter parking in front. Handicap spots in front of the restaurant. Very clean with a friendly staff. There is only pizza, salad and dessert. No coffee or appetizers which I was a little surprised by. The pizza was really good, especially after letting it settle for a few minutes. We got three kinds: margherita, shrimp, and sausage and pepperoni. The margherita was probably my favorite. Very light and lots of basil. All were really good. Thin and crispy because of the coal fire. The shrimp is supposed to be on a white pizza, but they accommodate for a red sauce. Not my choice, but I was outvoted at the table. I would definitely return based on my first experience.

Yelp
On our way to Untermyer Garden, we stopped by Frank Pepe for lunch and it's a good experience. The place is famous for its unique white clam pizza and that was what we ordered , we also ordered " The Special " which has Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Bacon, Pepperoni, Sausage, Mushrooms, Peppers, Onion all sorts of toppings. Hubby and I both like The Special, but feel White clam pizza is a bit salty to our liking. I haven't been to their Connecticut original store but this Yonkers location is new and clean, the parking is easy as they have their own private lot . Service is quick and efficient, price is reasonable and they also serve beer and wine in reasonable price.

Cyrus T.

Yelp
It is like an old style diner. There is a coat rack in every booth. Frank Pepe was my favorite New Haven style pizza. I was shocked when David Portnoy only rate it 8.5. I went to Sally Apizza, which he rated 9.2 and it was amazing. I went to Frank Pepe (Yonker) the following week to compare. I was actually in Yonker. Dave is right. We order 2 medium pizza this time. White clam pizza. The other reviewers is right. The clam was too chewy. This is actually my 2nd time here. Last time, we did take out. I thought it was chewey and hard because it is not take-out. This time, there is no excuse. It also is not as flavorable as the one we had at Sally. Tomato pie with mozzarella doesn't have that wow factor in it either. The only good news is there is no wait.

Jay V.

Yelp
We had a fantastic friendly server. We visited early on a Saturday afternoon for my first time trying New Haven style apizza. We enjoyed the crust quite a bit. I will be back like the Terminator and would love to try the original one in CT.

Cory N.

Yelp
After years of hearing the hype about Pepe's pizza, I had high expectations and went it with an open mind. I grew up on NYC pizza, so I may be a bit biased, but I was underwhelmed, at best. Maybe I expected NYC pizza, and that wasn't fair. I had a medium original tomato pie with pepperoni, bacon and onions. It was sliced into 10 small slices. Very hard to fold and eat. Not a fan. The crust is not super thin like a John's. It's more like regular NYC Ray's pizza crust, but firmer. The crust had way too much charring, even for Neopolitan pizza. There is no gluten free option here, if you were wondering. Diets and food restrictions are not accommodated well. They don't have plain red vine vinegar for salads. Very weird. Service was fine when I sat down, but even in a half empty restaurant, it took ten minutes to get my waiter's attention for the check. The water wasn't refilled once after having finished it fairly quickly. Overall, pretty disappointing, but I left a good tip anyway. Everyone's gotta eat. I don't think I'll be back by choice.

Christopher T.

Yelp
Good variety of pizza pies here- very thin, good chew. A decent amount of the bottom near the crust was quite burnt though, and the crust itself could have had more seasoning/flavor. The red sauce pies are decent, and the one we got was quite loaded with tasty meats. The white clam however was not as good as expected- clams were too chewy, some bites still had a sandy texture, not a lot of sauce on the pizza, and some broken shells were still on the pie.

Kim O.

Yelp
This review is for take out only. I tried this restaurant when they first opened and I wasn't impressed. I pass by it frequently and it's always crowded so I decided to give it another shot. I ordered a small pie with mushrooms, onions and sausage. I had to wait a few minutes as it wasn't ready by the pick up time I indicated when I placed the online order but no big deal. When I got home with the pie it looked really good BUT when I bit into it - the dough was tough - VERY tough. By the second slice I ended up just eating the toppings. Now I LOVE pizza, it's one of my favorite foods but this wasn't it. I didn't finish the pie and ended up throwing out what was left. Sorry Frank Pepe - I won't be back.

Bridget B.

Yelp
The clam pizza is amazing. I have had it where it has shell pieces and the crust is overcooked but overall a tasty pizza!

David O.

Yelp
Quality ingredients, nice thin crust, overall worth the trip. Better ambience than many pizza places, excellent and conscientious service. Will make a trip back to try other flavors. Salads were very good also. Only complaint was that the pizza was a little too oily for me. However, at least it was good quality olive oil! Bonus: they have their own parking lot.

Taxi G.

Yelp
New Haven style coal oven pizza. Very thin pizza excellent sauce. Be advised people in Connecticut love burned pizza so expect a serious char here or ask for no char. Highly suggest the white clam pizza loaded with fresh garlic and fresh shucked clams Waitress was excellent service was fast (almost closing time) Ambience super casual booths and tables available Soda is by a company named Fox's try the birch beer

Bob S.

Yelp
Stopped in yesterday, Monday, shortly before noon with a friend who's a Frank Pepe fanatic. The place was empty, we thought that odd. Asked the server if the sausage was sweet or hot? He said "it's Italian sausage." Obviously he didn't have a clue about Italian sausages. THERE are more than one kind! It's a mild sausage. Ordered a medium sausage pizza. It took a while. Since I've been coming here for years I know it doesn't long. That oven must be near 900° and the pizzaiolo are also speedy. It was hot when it came to the table. Could have used more than four luncheonette counter napkins. We go for the pizza, not the staff. There's always someone different. This guy spent more time BS-ing with a couple of millennials in another booth. Needed just short of flare to get his attention. Even to get the bill!

Alexa M.

Yelp
Since moving to Westchester area I've been looking for the best Westchester pizza. Frank Pepe came up as quite a popular place in the area and figured I'd give it a try. I ordered takeout over the phone (although I quickly realized it's more of an online order type of place). Walked in about 15 minutes after I ordered 2 pies, I was standing for a good 5-7 minutes and made eye contact with 2 employees before someone asked if I needed help and for my name. She was about to reach to the pickup pizza area and I had to let her know I hadn't paid for it yet. I then paid and got my pizza so word of advice is order online and pay for it before. Most people did that who were picking up their orders. The pizza: I wouldn't say the pizza tasted bad, it was just overly greasy and slightly bland. My favorite pizza was the pepperoni as the pepperoni gave it some good flavor. The dough was ok. I would give it another shot for sure.

Tanya H.

Yelp
Their pizza is outstanding! This spot is a must try when visiting NY. We got the spinach, mushroom, and Gorgonzola, and "the special" that included pepperoni and sausage. The crust was perfectly crispy, the pizza sauce tasted amazing, and overall delicious! Our waiter was very helpful on the menu and very prompt. It was cool being able to view the cooks roll out the dough and make the pizzas. It definitely takes skill to build pizzas and cook in a huge brick oven. I would definitely be back when visiting the area!

Latrice S.

Yelp
When you think of authentic original pizza, Frank Pepe is it!!! They had so many amazing pizza variations but we opted for the Meatballs and Ricotta pizza. It was sooooooo good! Service was great, the restaurant was spacious, and ample parking in the lot. When I am in the area again, I would definitely come back!!

Christine C.

Yelp
Best. White. Clam. Pie. Ever. Thin crust, savory clam sauce, clean restaurant, nice and friendly staff. This is my favorite place to get the infamous White Clam pizza.

Charles V.

Yelp
I haven't been to Frank Pepe's in Yonkers in a couple of years. I used to love their pizza but sorry to say that it has gone downhill. We ordered 2 large pies. One clam and the other 1/2 sausage and 1/2 basil. Both pies were soggy. The clams were tough and, even though I love garlic, the garlic took over the pie. This is not how they were in the past. The pizza is now just ok but not worth traveling for.

Omar V.

Yelp
Very good pizza fresh ingredients. One of my favorites. The crust is slightly charred Excellent service.

Jay M.

Yelp
This is for Pizza Lovers, it is not the original location (original is is in New Haven,CT) this is the same without the road trip if you like thin crust, smoky coal essence you cain't go wrong, always in the top 10 Best, I hope you like

Alisa K.

Yelp
Amazing pizza! Best out there. We had the margarita, it was fantastic! Gelato was great we look forward to coming here again!

Beverly D.

Yelp
Have eaten numerous times in the original Pepe's in New Haven and have always been impressed by the unusual toppings as well as the old favorites. Gorgonzola and spinach, anyone? This outpost does not disappoint.

John H.

Yelp
What happened to the crust? Last night, there was something wrong with the pizza. We believe it was the crust, something I always ate, but this time left all on my plate. Something was missing and didn't taste right, like cardboard. Maybe they rushed it because parts of it was burnt, still something wasn't right and we all agreed. Decided not to take the leftovers home :( Hope it gets fixed soon. Salad and service were great as usual. Fix the crust, please!

Kathleen L.

Yelp
People swear by this pie it's ok; most of my stars are for service cleanliness and location. The pie was ok I'm sorry I was hoping for a crispier crust and a better grade of clam.

Mark M.

Yelp
I get it...Sallys vs Pepes. I'm a Pepes guy (although Sallys isnt bad!). The Yonkers location always does my pies like i like them - a little burnt on crust. The ingredients always taste fresh and the the service is attentive. The Caesar salad is really good too - fresh and made to order. The croutons aren't ever soggy which is a total pet peeve. This is my go to for pizza in Yonkers for sure.

Sean M.

Yelp
Consistent , very good , maybe great Pizza .They have Pizza , Salad , Drinks and Desserts that's it , Some people complain of a limited menu but the Pizza is the focus of this place. If you can't go to New Haven you should definitely check out this spot on Central Ave in Yonkers

Johnny U.

Yelp
Frank Pepe might be the best pizza I've ever had outside of New York City. It would even be good pizza if it was in NYC. Its amazing pizza for Connecticut

Carlos D.

Yelp
A friend recommended this place and I wasn't disappointed. I came as a group of three and we each got a small size pizza, which is honestly big enough for maybe 2 people. The special was really good and so was the margarita. I recommend anything sauce focus since is really good and the hidden gem!

Erika L.

Yelp
One of the best brick over pizzas you'll ever have! Flavor, crispiness, freshness wowza- I don't like pepperoni pizza but do like it from Pepe's! Go grab yourself a pie :) thank me later.

Michele D.

Yelp
I've been dying to try the famed Pepe's clam pie in New Haven, but...way too far. I found a location in Yonkers, which was doable. New Yorkers, this pie will surprise you. Very thin crust, really thin, very good when hot, great communal family atmosphere, nice staff, but....a New York slice is better, imho. I still can't break away from it.

Peter K.

Yelp
Anyone that gives Pepe's less that 5-stars doesn't know pizza. They can stick with Dominos or Pizza Hut....then there is more great pizza for us. Tomato Pies, Clam Pizza and every traditional topping makes these brick over cooked pies the ultimate in pizza. And the hopping atmosphere only adds to the authenticity of a great dining experience.

Jason C.

Yelp
This is NOT AT ALL like the original in New Haven or Danbury for that matter. The Original Tomato And Mozzarella pictured here looks and tasted like it was from an airport. This is not the way it is intended to be. If the new location opening where I live in Stamford is anything like this, I'll have to resort to Sally's.

Marc F.

Yelp
Ok haven't updated this spot in five years , they have their act together! This place is amazing and as the oven seasoned overs the years and the pizza is on the money . When they 1 st open pizza was missing Chesse and sauce. Now the last two times the pizza was amazing. Small parking lot and they have a rewards program which give you points for free pizza . Don't forget to the

Janvi G.

Yelp
I literally drove all the way from NYC to CT JUST for this pizza and would 10/10 do it again!! Not only is it worth the drive but also waiting outside in the cold in line to get a table. The pizza crust was perfectly cooked and Charred to perfection. The sauce was perfectly balanced between tangy and sweet and the spicy peppers tied it all together brilliantly.

Jerry N.

Yelp
so very disappointed. I used to live in Ct. and LOVED Pepe's pizza more than any other around. 2 years ago i was in Hartford and went to Manchester and had the BEST Pepe's pizza ever. My travels had me in White Plains and i was ecstatic to find a Pepe's next town over..............................very disappointing. not like Pepe's of past or even 2 years ago and it was $48 on top of it. Sorry Pepe's, you broke my heart.

Christopher S.

Yelp
I love the clam pizza. At times I'll commute from queens. Diet birch beer also.wish u didn't have to make a u turn.

Sarah P.

Yelp
Pizza is good but for a $15 salad, this is not ok. It was lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and a couple olives. The container needs to be filled with a salad at that price. Pretty disappointing.

Algernon H.

Yelp
I say, the famous Frank Pepe's pizza chain is known for its Napoletana style fare which not only describes the way the pizza is prepared, but how it is cut and cooked. While the pizza is just as good when taken as a to-go order, the best experience is to visit the establishment itself and sit down for a meal with friends, family, or loved ones. It's always a solid option when you desire more than fast food but less than a full scale restaurant. Pricier than most pizza places but, as the name implies, they can't be compared. Pepe's is a cut above Good show!

Kyle S.

Yelp
Frank Pepe makes some of the best pizza I've ever had. It is also the ORIGINAL New Haven style pizza, sorry Sally's (Still paying respect). The oven is coal fired which gives the crust this amazing char. The tomato sauce is thick and made with fresh san marzanos. All of the topics are gourmet and premium quality, I usually go with the meatball or pepperoni. Pepe's uses that thick cut pepperoni and real slices of bacon. I'm thrilled to have a Frank Pepe's in New York. Probably the most similar pizza to that I've had in Italy. Definitely check this place out. Oh, and I hear their clam pizza is killer, haven't tried it yet.

James C.

Yelp
Pizza is great, I like to order it lightly baked but either way is fantastic. The cheese and sauce is unique and tasty. The service is good and the atmosphere is pleasant as well. 9/10 pizza for me.

Michael H.

Yelp
We've been to Frank Pepe several times over the past few months, and it appears that somehow the pizza has changed although store staff denies it. Because of this I'm dropping one star. Now The crust seems thicker and less pleasant and the way the pie is cut seems different. I hope restaurant staff will see this review and respond to it.

Anthony S.

Yelp
Not as good as the New Haven location but yummy nevertheless. The slightly charred, crispy yet chewy crust totally makes the appiza! Mangia!

Nick S.

Yelp
Quick Seating on an off Day. Great Nice service, & the Pizza was really good. I like my pie with more cheese, but the taste was fantastic. I'm not the biggest fan of how thin the pizza was, but the taste of the sauce was so good. Keep it up.

Emilio C.

Yelp
Just great coal oven pizza period!! Love the clam pie and the Gorgonzola, Spinach and mushroom pie as well!!

Ariel P.

Yelp
Not sure how this place is not 4.5 - 5 Stars on Yelp. Truly the best Pizza you can find in NY. Crust is a 5. Tomato Sauce is a 5. Cheese is 5. Service is a 5. In love with this place and Pizza. Perfection... I don't have anything else to say ....
