Where To Eat Outside In Jersey City & Hoboken

"If you list very good burgers and well-made natural wine from relatively obscure parts of the world as passions of yours, then that means two things. First, we’d probably swipe right, and second, you should go to Frankie. This Australian spot on Grove Street has a great cheeseburger with garlic aioli, and a highly curated, constantly changing natural wine list, which you can explore during dinner or weekday Happy Hour from 4-7pm." - hannah albertine, nikko duren, matt tervooren

The Jersey City Delivery & Takeout Directory

"Frankie is one of our favorite spots to drink natural wine in Jersey City, and now that this Australian spot is offering delivery, you can drink a half bottle of orange wine from Maryland or a sparkling wine from Mexico in your apartment. They’re also serving high-end bar food, including a very good double cheeseburger with thick-cut fries." - matt tervooren

Frankie Review - Jersey City - New York - The Infatuation

"Frankie serves high-end bar food, including a pretty good double cheeseburger with great thick-cut fries, and the attractive space reminds us of a version of Two-Hands or Ruby’s where space isn’t at a premium. This Australian spot works for brunch or a casual group dinner, but the reason you should go out of your way to come here is to drink wine. It has one of the best natural wine programs in Jersey City, including $15 flights that include three rotating pours, and Happy Hour with $5 glasses. photo credit: Alex Staniloff" - Matt Tervooren

Probably the coolest vibes outside of the West Village—and it’s right in the heart of JC. Frankie’s is an effortlessly stylish Australian spot that feels like a hidden gem but delivers like a destination. Whether you’re trying to impress out-of-towners or a date, this place hits the mark. Drinks? Solid across the board. The Lovely Creature—served in a whimsical frog mug—is a spicy mezcal punch that feels tailor-made for a boat cruise or summer rooftop hang. But the standout is Let’s Stay Together—an unbelievable old fashioned that balances depth, smoothness, and just the right twist to make you rethink what an old fashioned can be. Food-wise, don’t skip the kimchi fried chicken. It’s crispy, punchy, and totally worthy of main dish status. Sit at the bar if you can—it’s the best seat in the house to soak in the atmosphere, the music, and the laid-back but elevated energy. Frankie’s isn’t just good—it’s one of the best spots in Jersey City, full stop.

Tried half the menu! Kimchi fried chicken- everyone’s favorite Red pepper dip flatbread- insanely delicious Corn ribs- great for the table but only if you love corn Crab and corn fried rice- solid but wouldn’t order again. Flavor was underwhelming. Burger- fantastic. Meat pasta- pasta was undercooked but flavor was there Green curry- coconut and tasty

Tried this Aussie gem and it was a deliciously unique experience! The avo toast was fresh and vibrant, the Full Aussie platter hearty and satisfying. The Welsh rarebit stood out — perfectly poached eggs over sourdough with a rich Guinness spread that was bold and flavorful. Even the Vegemite toast, a first for us, was surprisingly tasty with its salty kick. Every dish brought something new to the table, offering an authentic taste of Australia in every bite. Highly recommend for anyone looking to explore bold, comforting flavors!

How fantastic this restaurant was, was almost fantasy like. The tables were spotless, the staff was so kind, the food was great, full of taste and depth, and the music was excellent and set at a very reasonable volume. The bartender was so so kind and I couldn’t have appreciated the service more. The mocktails were fairly priced, and the entire restaurant was beyond spotless as far as cleanliness goes. They’re well priced, well staffed, and the food is great. What more can you even ask of them?

Frankie is a great spot to have nearby—it's well located in an area that doesn’t have too many similar options. If you're into a mix of Thai, British, or Australian-inspired cuisine, this place stands out for its originality and unique flavors. The food was genuinely good, with interesting and well-executed combinations that felt fresh and different. That said, I do think the service could use improvement. While the atmosphere has personality and charm, the overall experience would be much better with more attentive and friendly service. During our visit, dishes were brought to the table and left a bit far from us, and small details like the placement of napkins and utensils felt rushed or overlooked. For a place where dishes are priced over $30 per person, you'd expect a bit more care in the delivery and interaction. Overall, it’s a welcome addition to the neighborhood, and I’d return for the food—but I do hope the service experience evolves to match the quality coming out of the kitchen.

Wow! Delicious brunch for father's day! Tried some stuff we've never had, totally enjoyed EVERYTHING we ate! Our sever was do sweet..she could have sat down with us and we'd think she was a cousin we forgot to invite. Would go again in a minute!

Google
Amazing vibes, great food and drinks and happy hour deals. Probably the nicest looking space I’ve been in Jersey City! It’s so nice that they seem to change their menu pretty often - the spring risotto was incredible so I’m sad it’s gone though! The burger was really good flavor-wise but it was a two thin patty medium-well done burger (I generally prefer a thick medium rare!)

Throughout my time there, I had a pleasant experience. I love the pink walls, the green plants, and the unique art. I enjoyed the food. The Full English breakfast I had was very filling and tasty. My drink of choice was a tumeric latter, which was lightly sweet and complemented my meal well. It was their donuts that surprised me. My boyfriend and I still had some room for dessert after our meal, so we ordered donuts. It blew my mind when I tasted the donuts. Served warm, it had chocolate sauce running down the sides. It has a soft, spongy dough. The sweetness is just right, but not overwhelming like Dunkin' Donuts. Despite everything else, I'd come back just for the donut!

Yelp
The visual setting here sets expectations high. The team adds friendly behavior to their work. Their dishes demonstrate just-made preparation. I walk out feeling cared for after every meal. This place shows exceptional dedication.

Yelp
Food was incredible and service was awesome. Had the kimchi fried chicken - must get. Garganelli was also delish. And good fries too. Still finding the best spots in JC but this one didn't disappoint!

Yelp
I give this a 5/5 for the drinks but a 2/5 for the food. The cocktail I got (Silver Spring) was one of the best I've actually ever had - it was like a mezcal pisco sour that was super light. The one in the frog cup was also mezcal based and gave off notes of apple/cinnamon/pumpkin spice? The food was just ok - not the best burger/fries and the meat pie had a dry crust and kind of sour filling. I'd just come for HH.

Yelp
Decor is adorable. We really liked the vibes inside. Everything we ordered was amazing, all vegetarian. Corn ribs were my favorite. Service was very friendly. Not the fastest, so leave a little time to savor. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Came back! Haven't been here in so long. They have happy hour all night on Wednesday which is a great deal. $10 cocktails normally $15 and a burger and beer deal for $22. Which is more affordable than other beer and burger happy hour deals in the area. Their burger is my favorite. Super flavorful. The side salad was good it was just drenched in dressing. The chocolate peanut butter milkshake mainly tasted like peanut butter. The whipped cream was yummy and super rich and they had a chocolate peanut butter candy on the top, The wait staff are amazing!! I love sitting outside here, such a nice covered area. Upping the stars back to 5!

Yelp
You'll find the prices fair once you taste the food, meet the nice staff, and appreciate the location. Workers showed exceptional attention to our needs. This food stands out for taste. I have only praise for this restaurant, and you'll understand why. You should see what this spot offers.

Yelp
Somewhat disappointed. This was our second visit and chose to pick it again only because they have a covered patio and is pup friendly. The service is great, they have heaters to keep the patio warm and cozy, the interiors are super cute. But the food missed the mark. Maybe it was what we ordered. The lamb burger, ricotta pancakes and the fish burger. The drinks are great though. Definitely will be back to try the regular menu.

Yelp
We had a great experience at Frankie in their private dining room (upstairs)! The brunch menu was pre-picked as well as the drinks menu, and my guests greatly enjoyed the food/beverages. The waitstaff was attentive/thoughtful, and I would definitely recommend to book for your next event!

Yelp
I took friends from Brooklyn here the other night and everything was great! Vibes were on point with the lighting, music selection and not too busy for a Friday night. Service was on point as well with great suggestions and my friend was not charged additional for getting both fries and salad as her side! To be honest, thats what tipped the scale for me. The curry short rib was so good, just enough spice, very tender and great flavor. My other friend got the meat pie, which sounded questionable, but he cleaned his plate. They've earned all 5 stars. :)

Yelp
Two hungry friends looking for a place to catch up and have a good brunch on a rainy Saturday. We both moved to Jersey City recently and still looking to find our spot. We tried to go into several places, but they were all close before 11 AM. We stumbled into Frankies and though they opened at 11 and we were there two minutes before the manager let us in with a smile and very warm. We were immediately in love with this place. You are welcome by a altar of sorts with a beautiful painting and a little disco ball and plants. There is all of these gay flags and the food is Australian-based. Love, the accent of the manager and our server was very beautifully dressed and we were talking about our nails and bracelets. The food was amazing. I had the avocado toast with extra eggs on top. My friend had an egg dish with salmon. We also had the Milkshake that was based on some Australian pastry or candy and it was really good. I strongly recommend this place.

Yelp
Vibes vibes vibes. I came here on a Friday night with my wife. As soon as I entered I noticed the awesome music that was being played. It was chill soul samples that usually a restaurant does not have playing. After about 5 minutes of sitting at our table, I noticed there was a DJ by the bar mixing records. I thought that was a great touch. I love listening to great music on a Friday night after a hard week at work. After ordering our drinks I ordered an appetizer of hummus and kimchi fried chicken. We typically get hummus everywhere we go that offers it and this place did not disappoint. The hummus was different than any other hummus I've tasted. I can't quite put my finger on it but it was different in a good way. Tasted very fresh. The kimchi fried chicken came with little bib lettuce wraps so you can make kind of a taco with the wrap. It had a nice white dipping sauce. Also. The flavors were amazing. For my main I ordered the grilled branzino because I was trying to eat healthy this night. On the menu it says that one of the sides was rice and I'm trying to stay away from rice. So I asked to substitute that rice for broccolini and they had no problem accommodating that. The flavors were incredible on my branzino and for about an hour after dinner I still had aftertaste of all the different flavors. The branzino came with some type of green dipping sauce and that was also incredible. All in all, I definitely had a very fun Friday night here. If I'm in the area I would definitely return. Definitely keep the DJ playing because it was really nice to hear some good music while dining. Most restaurants don't have an actual DJ spinning vinyl records.

Yelp
As one of my go-to spots in JC, Frankie *always* delivers when it comes to serving fresh and flavorful dishes. Honestly, everything on their menu is worth getting, ESPECIALLY the burrata. For their summer menu, they added peaches with the cherry tomatoes and it was delectable - I loved how they charred their flatbread a bit to give you a little crunch with every bite. Another favorite is the crab fried rice - I could eat this all day. I've also had their NY strip steak which was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was so juicy and tender. Order anything - you won't be disappointed. Staff is also super friendly and attentive. Cute vibes inside (I think you can reserve their room upstairs for parties/gatherings?) and they have plenty of outdoor seating too. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't been here sooner! Everything from the food to the service to the ambience was so so so nice. We cleaned every plate! Highly recommend the pea dumplings, labneh, and burgers! We also had a big serving of their chocolate tart which was plenty for two. Absolutely delicious, we spent 90 minutes here and didn't feel rushed or too slow. I love the inside, a vintage/70s vibe that transported me back in time to my groovy grandpas home. Natalia was wonderful, polite and attentive. I look forward to spending more date nights here! Also appreciate their mocktail selection I had Nico's Song and took my time sipping that throughout the meal.

Yelp
A co-worker suggested this place and came here on a Friday night with no reservations but luckily got seats the bar. This place has a very beach vibe to it, not too dark but not too bright either. Started off with a margarita (made well) and kimchi fried chicken (dark meat) which was really good. It had the kimchi flavor but not overpowering and not so spicy. For the main dish I got the Frankie burger beef which was good but not that juicy compared to shake shack. My friend got the pappardelle pasta which was ok (I only had a bite). I would come back for the kimchi fried chicken and try out the other small plates/appetizers.

Yelp
Chicken: crispy and juicy. Soooo good! Comes with like a slice of onions and zucchini. Also a green parsley sauce or something... but nothing else. Wish it came with a few more veggies but really good Sea bass: good and comes with rice. I would've rather had the option to get veggies with the fish instead of rice. Didn't know it was part of it. A little on the pricy side. So cute like kind of a fusion vibe on the decor and I don't think it's really Australian.. not sure why it says Australian wine bar. Seems more like some Asian and American fusion.. they have diff deals like a burger and beer deal for $20.. not what what beer you get but it' seemed like a good deal and many people seemed to get it Service is good Place is cute Parking: street

Yelp
Well, we were *supposed* to be eating dinner at Raoul's on Saturday night, but because of the thunderstorms, one of us ended up circling above Newark for an hour and half, so there went that reservation...! We ended up at Frankie because we were all starving and wanting something relatively close to the airport so we didn't have to deal with getting into the city. We found Frankie, which had plenty of openings and lucked out with a parking spot just around the corner. The cocktails we got were refreshing and ideal for a heat wave. And we completely dug the ambience in here with its disco ball chic and playful vibe, but damn it was LOUD. First sign of a restauranteur amateur? The acoustics. Second own-goal that sucked was our server who was a complete snoot that snubbed our table for a long time before gracing us with her presence. (She was more interested in chatting with a friend who came in and helping a table that was sat after us.) She also started clearing our drinks before we were finished with them, which is such a pet peeve of ours. We do have to say that we loved (most of) our food. The blistered romano beans were pure grilled heaven under the soft blanket of grated cheese--the acidity was perfect. The pea dumplings were also incredible: who would have thought to pair those with a spicy Asian sauce, but damn, it worked. One of us loved the fact that the peas were still whole in the dumpling, but the other would have preferred a puree. The schnitzel was incredible, but why the hell wouldn't you serve it with a lemon wedge on the side? Can't believe we actually had to ask for one! We also appreciated the side of green beans. The only dish that we felt could have been a bit better were the short rib skewers: the meat was tender and flavorful, but the whole thing needed salt--and you really needed to eat them with the slaw underneath for that dish to really sing. Still, overall, we were really impressed by the food. Dessert is where it fell apart a bit. The strawberry pavlova had a nice sauce and meringue, but here was like huge amount of labne in the middle of it that we were not expecting since there was no mention of it on the menu. Huh?? The chocolate-peanut milkshake was good, but it was only about 2/3 full with a mountain of whipped cream on top. Careless, sloppy. So overall, three stars even though we had a mostly great meal--just the terrible server and acoustics and bummer dessert bring the 3.5 down to a 3. It's unlikely we'd ever end up here again considering the circumstances, but you never know.

Yelp
They hire this DJ. And is so horrible. Rude. And entitled. Ew and Yuk. He was so nasty and made us as patrons feel rejected and moronic. I came here one time and probably never again.

Yelp
Came here and sat at the bar for a drink while waiting to pick up a delivery next door. The drinks were great and came out in a really cute cup. Love the decor and presentation at this place

Yelp
Came back two more times to great satisfaction - this might be my favorite JC restaurant now. The dinner menu has a delicious grilled branzino which I definitely recommend. I love that they offer non-alcoholic cocktails made with what I believe are fresh juices including carrot juice, ginger, etc. I went back for another brunch to satisfy my craving for more ricotta pancakes, which I still think about. They are consistently delicious! I also had their tuna sandwich at brunch. It's a generous tuna steak between brioche buns, seasoned to perfection with some delicious fries on the side.

Yelp
Amazing food, sweet and attentive servers, with a great vibe. The decor, music, cute cups, love it!

Yelp
I visited Frankie with a small sized group of gal pals for Saturday brunch. The roads were packed and so was the establishment luckily we had a resy. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating, but my review will focus on indoors. We started with the Housemade Cinnamon Donuts which were to die for. We were honestly shocked by how quickly they left their plate so we had to order a second round to fill everyones cravings - next we ordered the 2x Avocado Toast with a side of bacon (that side of bacon was a serving on its own - they don't skimp out), a brunch burger, and the crab scramble. Everything post donuts were average and not much to rave about. The aesthetic is a bit quirky and modern - they did a great job with the decor; but I don't go to brunch on just the aesthetic of a spot. I may be back for those donuts, but there are many other spots in JC that I still need to try out.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cute place in JC, great atmosphere, decor, service and the food was delicious. Came for brunch but I'll definitely be back for dinner and cocktails because everything looked amazing. If you're in Jersey city you definitely need to check it out!

Yelp
Totall love the vibes here - very quirky and I'm a big fan of all the animal print. There was a mix-up amongst the staff on who was serving our table, so although there were not many tables with patrons, we waited for someone to take our meal and beverage orders. I had to find our server to request a beverage, however later the server acknowledged their mix-up and apologized. It was nice that they owned it and from there, the staff was attentive. I wasn't too hungry and ordered the ricotta pancakes. It was just okay but needed to have carbs to soak up the pitchers of mimosas! I'd come back another time to try different menu items.

Yelp
I am forever grateful to Frankie for introducing me to chicken salt! Their fish and chips is truly top notch. They have a ton of fun cocktails, and the atmosphere is lovely and quirky. The service is exceptional, and everyone who works there is truly so cool. We are so lucky to have such a special spot like this in Jersey City!
google avatar

Yelp
I wanted to give this restaurant 4 stars for only having a two vegan options on the menu, but the chef was kind enough to make the fava beans vegan for an appetizer and they were delicious! I also ordered the green curry, which was pretty good as well. I do wish they had more plant-based options on the menu, but when a chef comes back with suggestions on replacing or omitting ingredients for the customer, that deserves a five star review! Also, the cocktails were light and refreshing and the service was impeccable! Oh, and it's dog friendly! I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
This place has a cute and chic ambience. We went here for brunch. Overall the food is quite average - not a wow factor. But the taste is good.

Yelp
If you're going for brunch, get the hummus & tahini bowl. Finally a high fiber, low carb breakfast that tastes delicious and leaves you feeling satisfied! Frankie was the hot / new Australian eatery when it opened 6 years ago. It took me until now to try it with someone who could understand and appreciate the wine menu. To some, the overly designed restaurant with its Miami coral walls and Art Deco flourishes may seem like an "instagramable" place that tries to sell you on their faux-flowered arches and neon signs. I'll admit this got me in the door as well. But what will keep me as a customer, is their quality ingredients. The crunch from the deep green kale on my salad provided the perfect textural difference to help hold the buttery and well seasoned avocado and hummus. The quinoa was perfectly portioned and pearl-like with a nutty flavor. The grains were not glooped together from overcooking. The element of the dish that caught my attention was the rich and vibrant yolk of my hard poached eggs. The brilliant orange indicates to me that they are either using free-range hen eggs or the hen's diet has been rich in omega 3. Whichever it is, I appreciate a chef who pays attention to and cares about what their customers are consuming. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her crab omelette and introduced me to "pet net" wines. They are fruity on the nose, but less effervescent than a sparkling wine. The consistency is heavy, like a dry cider. The only feedback we'd have is to be careful of potential for crunchier exoskeletal bits in the crab omelette. Overall, the crush didn't detract from the overall enjoyment of this meal and the friendly service.

Yelp
AND THE TINIEST BURGER PATTY I'VE HAD IN MY LIFE GOES TO ****drumroll *** We laughed out loud when we look at the size of the patties. I'm sad it took me so long to remember, "where's the beef"? I think McDonald's would be impressed at the restaurants cost savings. They say everything in Australia tries to kill you. I wonder if this restaurant tried to kill me with an ultra low calorie meal? Obviously kidding, but if you've ever worked out and want to mind your macros, be prepared for tons of buns. This burger($15) wins smallest patty I've ever had. I've had sliders with more meat on them. It had a mediocre flavor. I ordered medium rare, it came back almost well. But honestly, I can't see any way for them to cook this too a medium rare temperature, considering how the tiny patty. My wifes lamb burger($16) was also tiny. She asked for medium rare. It came back well done. I doubt they cook it anything other than well, because it appeared to be more of a sausage patty. She liked the flavor. The buns were beautiful. The pictures that we saw reflected that. The buns were tasty as well. Too bad we only ate half the bun on each of our sandwiches, because the patty was minuscule. If you've ever worked out a day in your life, you might want more than a slider for lunch. They also gave 7 fries with each plate. Another Yelper mentioned that they gave her only a few fries, I thought it might be an off day, but no. The fries also had a crispy in a bad way texture, like they were overdone. The bizarre thing is that 3 of the fries were also undercooked, raw, and hard. I estimate the patties at the last Australian place we ate to be about 8 times as much meat. So the prices here are a couple bucks cheaper than other restaurants, but this restaurant gave us a fraction of the food. Cheap and a good value are 2 different things. We won't return, worst value I've ever had. I've had bigger burgers at McDonald's and much better fries. Maybe I should have asked them to super size this, even though I would have even been happy with a small instead of the micro they served.
google avatar

Selena Y.

Yelp
Such a cute spot! Food is delicious and beautifully presented - the lamb sausage roll and steak pie definitely reminded me of Australia (though these dishes were definitely on the pricey side). The cocktails were also fun and unique - I had one with activated charcoal in it and another came in an adorable green frog cup. Would love to come back for another happy hour since the deals are great here! $5 beer/wine, $8 cocktails, $15 pitchers, and $10 for a flatbread & beer (FYI flatbread is more like chopped pita with dip, but they're so good!).

Yelp
Came to this place for my friend's birthday brunch, and it was so fabulous!!! Everything here is so affordable, and the restaurant itself is very cute. We sat outside and got our food and drinks pretty promptly. I ordered the grapefruit cocktail and the brunch burger. The grapefruit cocktail seemed to be vodka and grapefruit juice, which was tasty and simple. The brunch burger was good! It had caramelized onions, which I love, and a perfectly runny egg. I did think the patty, itself, was a little dry. We also tried the vegemite toast, and as a longtime lover of that, it hit home for me - savory, tart, and buttery. The server ended up bringing us a round of shots on the house without even knowing that it was my friend's birthday, which was super sweet. The staff is amazing and attentive!! I definitely recommend for a cute, affordable brunch!
google avatar

Christina Z.

Yelp
The service was wonderful. But for someone with a lot of food allergies, it was difficult to find something I could eat. But the chef was accommodating and made a couple of dishes without nuts or soy. We were there with a small group and sat outside. I had the veggie burger which was delicious! A little kick of spice, so be prepared! Everything that we had was very tasty. My fiancé had the Frankie burger and our 2 friends had the pork chop. (Sorry - we ate too fast for pictures) I was just hoping for a more extensive menu with a few more allergy friendly options.

Yelp
Overall this place is a 4 BUT, I'd give this place a 10000000 stars for their Kimchi fried chicken. Came here as a group of 4 great outdoor seating set up, was seated & we all ordered drinks & apps to start then our main meals. Tried the Girl in Amber (very very VERY strong ginger based drink but good), Heirloom Tomato Salad Flatbread (this was remarkable) & the Kimchi Fried chicken (which I could honestly eat every single day with no complain for a million years...SO good). For my main I got the Fish & Chips which were alright..nothing crazy. The fries were good but the fish was a little underwhelming. Then for dessert we got the cinnamon donuts (which came with AMAZING ice cream) & they were alright, loved the ice cream a lot more than the donuts themselves Otherwise, service was great and overall an awesome spot to dine at!

Yelp
Stoped in for a quick drink. They were great very friendly and clean. The avo toast was dead on also. It's dog friendly and I'll review it again when I go for a full meal. But everything I saw come out looked amazing and people were waiting to be seated. It's def a place I'll be going again.

Yelp
I want to start by saying I love the ambiance of this restaurant! The aesthetic and music are amazing and really set the vibe. I ordered sweet and savory and I will say the pancakes were the best choice! They're so fluffy and tastes amazing, along with the syrup which is automatically added on (I loved this). For the crab omelette I took out the peanuts, and it was pretty good. I'm not sure I would order it again but can't say it isn't worth trying. The mimosa pitchers were the cherry on top, really strong and fresh OJ. I would totally recommend trying this place!

Yelp
You wouldn't think to find an Australian inspired eatery near City Hall on Grove Street, but Frankie isn't to be missed. I went out with a few friends on a warm Saturday night for a table outside. The menu offers some Aussie standards (steak pie, fish and chips, whole fish) and some trendy smaller bites (flatbreads, sausage rolls) along with some Australian wine and beer selections. While not cheap, the steak pie was fantastic: beef, shallot, and pickled beets in a wine gravy, served with thick cut chips. That dish alone is worth a return visit

Chuyue Frances H.

Yelp
The lackluster food and service cannot make up for the quirky interior. Came here without a reservation on Sunday for brunch, as I was intrigued by their menu. I ordered the aussie brunch plate and asked for two poached eggs. To my shock, the eggs were poached to "perfection" aka completely cooked, almost resembling a hard-boiled. I was fairly confused by the preparation for the poached eggs and talked to the staff, but she didn't seem to care, and thought that it's common for them to fully cook the yolk Don't think I'll ever want to come back here again, especially given that the avocado on the plate was, consistent with the quality of the poached eggs, only semi-ripe.

Yelp
Best brunch in JC. Also healthy because it's Australian, and Aussie folk like to get down. If you get scrambled eggs, you'll get eggs scrambled the Japanese way which is amazingly fluffy and flavorful. Get the salmon and egg bowl.

Yelp
Ordered for pickup during COVID-19 on a Saturday night, and the process was seamless! Steak pie - delicious! Crispy pie crust with a juicy, tender and flavorful meat filling. I thought there might be a hint of beer in the meat sauce, which adds another dimension to the flavor. Lamb roll - crispy, flakey crust and generous lamb filling. It comes with a yummy sauce to dip the roll in Kimchi fried chicken - pleasantly surprised that this turned out to be my favorite item of everything we ordered. Super flavorful and tender breaded chicken pieces. Fish and chips - decent Maybe because I got the food to-go, but the fries were not as crispy as I expected

Yelp
I went for dinner and loved the setting. There's outdoor seating with beautiful lighting and I got to see a cute dog chilling as I ate. Indoors, the lighting is dim and romantic, great date spot. The bread, muhammara, hummus were amazing!!!

Yelp
3.5*'s We stopped into Frankie the other night for drinks, based on a recommendation we had received from friends. Once we walked inside, I recognized the tropical, Australian décor from the restaurant's website and Yelp page, as I had researched it previously. We were able to grab the last two seats at the tiny bar and settled in to place our order. I opted for the Lovely Creature cocktail, which was composed of a mezcal punch and spiced pineapple, as well as jalapeno and bell peppers. Spicy pineapple margaritas are not super unusual, but I always seem to enjoy them, so this seemed like a good selection. What was unique about Frankie's version was the fact that it was served in a bright green, ceramic dinosaur mug with a straw through the reptile's head. It was essentially an adult sippy cup. The drink was really delicious, and the pineapple being "spiced" made a drastic difference; it added a sweet, cinnamon-flavor that was very unique. We also decided to balance our alcohol intake with a shareable food item. We went for the Muhammara dip, which was essentially whipped, roasted red pepper, topped with Aleppo spices, raw walnuts, and a pomegranate syrup. The spread was fine, but a big bland. I have had another version in the past where diced walnuts had been blended in, and fresh pomegranate seeds had acted as a garnish, which, for some reason, was more appealing. The Muhammara was served with warm, toasted flatbread, which was very fluffy, but tasted as if it had been cooked in wax paper. It just had an odd after-taste. Overall, I enjoyed the casual, vintage, beachy vibe of Frankie, as well as their cocktails. Their food menu was extremely unusual, but the Lebanese dip and bread we had selected could have been better.

Yelp
Frankie's outdoor setup is the stuff of LA girl dreams....except we're in Jersey City. Maybe it's the yellow and white striped umbrellas, monstera plants, or organic wine list, the space just exudes such airy Cali bistro vibes that scream summer. We'll call it Aussie cafe chic, because that's what this place is. While the dreamy decor is what drew me to make an impromptu stop here, Frankie is not all looks and no substance, no. The drinks and service make it a worthwhile place to while away the time, frog shaped mug in hand. I've heard people call Jersey City "New York lite across the river" which sort of makes sense considering the density of high quality eateries, bars, shops, and office buildings. The best thing about the "lite" part is that you can stroll into a trendy restaurant without a reservation and be met with a minimal wait, which was the case for us here. The tables felt totally sanitized (in a good way, which these days is the only way to interpret sanitized) and masks were required whenever we were away from our table. We got our drinks within minutes of ordering and our server came to check on us a couple of times to make sure things were going smoothly, and they were! I thoroughly enjoyed the "Lovely Creature" cocktail, which came in an adorable frog shaped mug and had a nice smokiness from the mezcal, sweetness from the pineapple, and spicy kick from the jalapeno. I also enjoyed a natural wine and beer here because when a menu has it all, you try to have it all too. $12 isn't bad for a cocktail, especially compared to cocktails in the city across the river. Take that, New York.

Yelp
Yum! Good outdoors for stroller! Portion sizes were good, service was easy and efficient, vibe was comfortable for baby and enjoyable for date night

Yelp
Cute little brunch spot! They accommodated us even though we were 3 min beyond our grace period. Overall, the drinks, smoothies and pancakes were delish! They have very unique & creative drinks which were fun to try. (Try Black Magic Elixir- has activated charcoal in it!) we can add Rosebud CBD to any drink for an extra $4 too. However, I was disappointed in the food portion. I actually left feeling still hungry. I'd recommend stopping by for drinks & snacks.

Yelp
The place has been plagued by inconsistent performance of kitchen and service staff since it opened. The only consistent feature is long wait time for the food. The most recent visit was a week day evening with 2/3 of the restaurant empty. 30-min wait before any food showed up. No wait staff checking in during our entire meal. Our waiter was also the associate manager for the evening. From our table, we could see his whereabouts and what he has been doing. He was not busy and not alone, other groups in the 2/3 empty restaurant were attended by other staff working that evening. When I asked why there wasn't any wait staff checking in on our group of 6 during the dinner, the associate manager immediately launched a full defense and started throwing excuses at us. The very first thing out his mouth was, incredibly and also comically, "wasn't the food good?", as if that is a proper justification for not doing his job. Then he followed up with "we have a few large groups tonight..." He even suggested "I don't care if you leave a bad review on Yelp." when our conversation had made no prior reference to reviews. Was he threatened with bad reviews by other customers he served before? He finished his defense with "I don't make a living off tips", again, as if that is the righteous justification for not doing one's job. My most recent visit was truly a strange encounter that could guarantee no more visit to this restaurant.

Yelp
Wow OK. Although this place was super busy, I had never heard of it before and wasn't expecting much - now this is probably my new favorite restaurant in Jersey City. Everyone who works here was super nice, the restaurant appeared very clean, and the food was an absolute STEAL as far as quality/price. We ordered: HEIRLOOM TOMATO FLATBREAD: Huge portion, super fresh tomatoes, amazing crusty bread. LABNE: Tangy and fresh with salted bread on the side. Had to scrape up every last bit of this. FLUKE CRUDO: This was Frankie's one downfall. While this wasn't by any means bad, it just wasn't great. Felt a little above room temperature and was a little gummy. With all of the other great food at Frankie, you can skip this. FRANKIE BURGER: Wow, again, this was just really good. 2 patties, homemade (? possibly?) pickles, etc. We left stuffed & extremely happy. Believe the hype!

Yelp
Frankie is so underrated--or at least, I think it is! Such gem. Pros: Love the vibe and interior. You just want to be inside and stay because everything about it makes you feel happy. The small bites are just perfect complements to drinks, but the food is definitely not Australian (sorry to the owners!). I appreciate the fact that the servers know every detail behind the different menu items--this just adds to the awesomeness of the place! Con: Just wish it was a tad bit warmer inside during the winter! :-) What is Frankie great for: Date night; night out with friends; catch-up with colleagues after work. Would I return? Definitely.

Yelp
Two stars for the wine list. Zero stars for the saddest $14 burger ever (picture attached). The fries were bad too, soggy and not seasoned at all. Coffee was watery and the glass was dirty. Service pretty much non-existent, also a very pretentious maitre-d. We aren't picky but this was bad. Too bad, space itself is cool.

Yelp
Saturday morning 12pm. Its peak brunch time. $9 IPA draft Beer was flat and stale. Bartender saw the nozzle wasn't pouring right as he was filling our glass but still served it to us. We sent it right back. Had to re-order a different kind. No apologies from the bartender. $16 Crab Omelette was burnt on the bottom and eggs were crunchy. Had to scrape off the top edible parts. This entre also came with nann on the side, which waiters fingers were pressing into as he laid the dish down to our table. I get that weekend brunch is a hectic time but quality and the food was below average. Needless to say very poor hygiene as well. Considering the price, not planning to return here. Ps. If you get $5 Fresh Squeezed OJ, the glass will actually be filled with ice. Order it with 'no ice' if you want the full value.
