"In 1917, the Jerry O’Mahony Diner Company in New Jersey began manufacturing roadside diners. The long and narrow prefabricated buildings were trucked on railroad flatcars to various locations across the United States, and were often confused with the actual railroad rolling stock that they resembled. One such diner arrived in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in 1926. The diner had been ordered by Anthony Franks, who paid $7,500 plus $325 in shipping charges. It caused quite a stir among the locals, who watched as six horses pulled the diner to its downtown location not far from the shore of Lake Michigan. Franks Diner has been serving food ever since, making it the oldest continuously-operating lunch-car diner in the United States. The Franks family ran the diner until they sold it in 2001, and it changed hands again in 2010. In that time, the space received a few upgrades, including the addition of a dining room, an expanded kitchen, and sections of brick wall around the exterior, which largely obscure its lunch-car roots. Over the decades, the historic diner—which seats 55—has had its fair share of notable guests. Celebrity patrons have included the Three Stooges, Duke Ellington, and Liberace. More importantly, however, are the loyal Kenosha locals, many of whom have been eating at Franks for decades. Some come for the homemade pancakes, some for the French toast and omelets, but by far the most iconic item on the menu is Franks’s Garbage Plate (not to be confused with New York’s dish of the same name). A full plate of this mountainous creation includes five eggs mixed into a combination of hash browns, green peppers, and onions. To this, the cook adds meat (or meats) that may include your choice of ham, bacon, sausage, or Spam. Choose your cheese(s) of choice and throw in some jalapeños if you’d like some heat, and you’re all set for a Garbage Plate. Still hungry? Have a cup of coffee and a homemade cinnamon roll." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

"Start your day with breakfast in an old railcar at this landmark diner. Frank’s is said to be the country’s oldest continuously operating diner and it also claims to be home of garbage plate. While people in Rochester, N.Y. may disagree, Frank’s takes a different approach to the “throw it all on a plate and serve it” practice. At Frank’s a garbage plate consists of three eggs (Half Plate) or five eggs (Full Plate) mixed into a combination of hash browns, green peppers, and onions. You choose both your meat and cheese and it all comes with a couple slices of their famous homemade toast." - Titus Ruscitti

Great vibes, plenty of selection, good food, big portions. Tight inside the train car but still comfortable. The pancakes were probably the best I’ve ever had. The loaf of bread is huge! The biggest surprise was their many awards for best Soup, so I’ll try that next time. The waitstaff has personality and are true professionals. Waitress Paris was spunky and helpful.

What a great experience it is to go to this place! It is obviously a very unique diner, so that’s worth it alone, but the staff is super friendly and the food is good. The garbage plates are really good and if you sit at the counter, it’s fun to watch them being made. I also got a Bloody Mary and it was good. Definitely worth a visit and it lives up to the hype.

Google
Franks diner!! This awesome train-car of a restaurant opened in 1926. The food was perfectly proportionate, and super delicious! If you are traveling through the area, this is also a very neat opportunity to meet people at their sit-up breakfast bar, where there is fast-paced service - there is no telling who you’ll meet! I had the chorizo omelette, with home-made toast! It also appears that they pour a kettle of melted butter onto the hash-browned potatoes, a very delicious option!

Franks is one of those places that you have to at least see once! It’s a classic diner with simple choices and small areas. They service is meant to be fun and shared so you’re not dedicated to anyone in particular. Took us a minute to “get that” while we waited for “our server” to come back around. The greeting was a little cold the first time up the stairs to put our names in, but softened back up when we were called for our table. Again- you have to understand the workings of this famous old train car restored diner. Breakfast took a while to get to the table, but the portions were large, the bread was homemade and you didn’t go home hungry or broke. I guess you go for the entertainment. As we ate, the music got turned up, the servers gathered and shots of tequila were shared with anyone and everyone that wanted one. Seems Party at Franks was Alive and Well. Frank did come around to check on things twice so I give credit where credit is due. He cared and wanted to make sure guests we’d taken care of. The walls are covered with fun memorabilia, bathroom is downstairs, and cash is preferred. Would I go back? Sure. Top five? Probably not, but definitely worth a check mark on your Bucket List for Kenosha.

Place is legendary. Great food and the entire staff has great attitudes and works super hard. Sandy kills it on the griddle. Tequila shots at 11am!

Google
HOLY COW !!! This place lives up to the HYPE !!! I have heard stories about this place for a few years. Decided to swing by on a day off for lunch. Walked right in and got a booth, I know... I was lucky. 1pm is the sweet spot on weekdays. The food was delicious, the staff were great, and the decor and history of the place put it over the top for me. The sausage gravy & biscuits rule, and so does the garbage plate. DO NOT SKIP THIS PLACE IF YOURE IN KENOSHA !!! I said what I said...🙌

Glen O'Sullivan

Google
If you walk out hungry,it's your fault. Loved the Biscuits and Gravy with 2 eggs on top. Homemade Cornbeef Hash and eggs, just right. 1 pancake is large enough for 2.

Google
Great place, awesome service, delicious food for a decent price. The ambiance is well worth the wait... so plan accordingly if you're hungry!

Yelp
We have gone out of our way to revel in the fine fare at Frank's for some time. Always pleased with the service and the food. The Garbage Plate breakfast is overwhelming in size and taste. Beautiful burgers perfect. There is a home made bread on the menu that always gets added as a takeout for later. Crowded, noisy and old adds to the experience. Pay attention to the signage and the 'Easter eggs' in the menu.

Luka D.

Yelp
First time dining at this establishment. Popped into Franks' Diner as a recommendation of another local business (Blak Coffee). Let me start by saying this spot is small but mighty (very imitate setting. I was greeted by a few ladies by the name of Julie & Sandy (I believe) who was extremely polite and helped me to navigate the menu to accommodate my eating restrictions she helped me to customize a vegetarian bowl which I appreciated. The menu has a large selection of breakfast and diner delights.

Yelp
Famous for its garbage plate, and being in Kenosha downtown for almost 100 years (opened back in 1926), Frank's Diner is definitely a great place and a home place for a lot of people. As someone who moved just to Kenosha last year, we have been trying to get in for a long time. The space is small, I mean very small, it is an old food truck/railcar kinda style, there are bar area and booth area. Expect a wait if you come on weekends. (As the sign in the diner says, the inner deco was legit haha) We came in Tuesday around noon and were able to sit right away at the bar, right opposite the stove and grill lol. It was quite a show watching the cook cook while we wait for our food, and I loved seeing it. Just a very local and family feeling. We had great food! The specials (Irish sausage and gravy, corned beef omelette) were tasty and the meat omelette was next level. The pancake is huge, and delicious for sure. The food is also priced well! Overall, nice experience, and we will come back again and hopefully also no wait next time!

Andrew G.

Yelp
Classic old school diner, amazing homemade bread, excellent service, priced right and the food is just stellar. Cam here for breakfast after reading some reviews and so glad we did! The menu is simple but well executed, and I love how much they talk about the bread. How good it is, and how they recommend it with everything. I am a corned beef and hash guy so I had to go with the garbage plate with corned beef and hash. SO GOOD. SO MUCH FOOD. THAT BREAD! I also got to try the biscuits and gravy as well, very tasty with lots of good sausage bits. The coffee kept flowing and our server was so attentive. I do love the funny and sarcastic signs on the wall. Kitchy and self aware but still fun! Absolute gem of a breakfast spot.

Yelp
This place is great. We had just left the Civil War Museum and needed food and Franks was nearby. I'm glad we found this little dive of a place that has been there since 1926. It survived a lot over its life and I'm sure the food today is pretty much the same as the original menu. Speaking of menu, it was nice to see diner food not overly priced. In fact the prices were fantastic. I had a chorizo and cheese omelet and my daughter had a chicken wrap. Both were really good. As crowded as the place was, and for as little room as there is behind the counter, the service was prompt and efficient. I was pleasantly surprised by Franks but I guess I shouldn't have been since it has been there almost a hundred years.

Yelp
Was hungry for anything to eat on a Friday afternoon, just before closing. I'm in the Kenosha area, and I'm like, ooooh, Frank's Diner, for which I've been trying to get in for years. All the hype is real, the food is good and I personally love the atmosphere. Waitresses are great and are on the move the entire time I was here. Very friendly and attentive. Great lighting inside. There's 30 feet of counter seating and 10 tables. Small it is, but worthwhile. There's no wheelchair access. They do reservations of 6 or more within 24 hours. If you like to sleep in, forget about it. There will be a line out the door sometimes with a 45-minute or more wait. So get there early. The plates I witnessed being waitressed around were huge, and I was already scared for my plate. I ordered the cinnamon French toast and good lord, it was so good, I finished it off. Look at the picture, and you will see. Perfection and ungodly delicious. Lol I also ordered the Stuffer omlette with the house bread. I should have known it would be a huge plate of goodness. Though too full from French toast, I was able to eat a little and take the rest home. It was delicious, too. Not like other restaurants that are over cooking their omelets. It came with hashbrowns, for which I forgot to tell them with onions and well done. Add your condiments and spices, and you'll be fine. My overall experience is a 10, and there's nothing I can say negative about the service, atmosphere, or food. In the words of the Terminator.... I'll be back

Yelp
Yesterday morning we were getting the Franks Diner experience in Kenosha. Trust and believe, it was all that I heard it to be. Food was delicious and totally worth the "weight" wait. It's so amazing that this is a vintage train car. Franks opened in 1926. Will definitely be going back!

Sandy S.

Yelp
Franks was so delicious! We've been waiting for years to come here and we finally made it! We got up early and still had to wait about an hour and we ended up at the bar! What an experience! Other than being incredibly hot for the hour we were sitting at the counter, it was perfect. We had a bloody mary while we waited and we were entertained by the staff while they took orders, made breakfast, etc. The food was the best. We LOVED our food...the cinnamon roll was the best one we have ever had. I would eat that every day for the rest of my life! We each had our own garbage plate, filled with our favorites. It was the best breakfast! I cannot wait to go back. It's worth the wait...and you definitely want to sit at the bar!

Jimmy A.

Yelp
The food was very good with huge portions. We got the half garbage with bacon and ham and all the veggies. They have a homemade bread and it was amazing! There was a 15 minute wait but they will call you when your tables ready. I'll give my experience a 10/10. Great food and Great Service!

Eric N.

Yelp
First time there. Now I see what I was missing! Had the garbage plate, outstanding. We also ordered the corn beef hash and shared. It was awesome as well. Next time we are back in town we will be visiting again!

Alicia S.

Yelp
Franks diner is definitely one to remember. The diner is super old school and you can tell there is a lot of history in the place. The place is small and the food is good so expect a wait. They are known for their breakfast garbage plates and their homemade toast. I ordered the half garbage plate and the portion was still pretty big, food was delicious definitely couldn't finish it so I had leftovers for the next day. The homemade toast was probably the best toast I ever had and I would come back just for that if I could. Definitely recommend if you want a real diner experience.

Theresa A.

Yelp
Omg the food here is so good. They have homemade toast which is amazing. The kids got the Mickey mouse pancakes which they enjoyed. My husband and I got omelets and we loved them. The place is small and seems like maybe an old rail car which is cool. The entrance is tiny and not handicap accessible. Slim stairwell and then a sliding door. If a person used a walker or wheelchair you probably couldn't fit in the front entrance.

Barbara B.

Yelp
Always enjoy taking friends and family to Frank's for the fun atmosphere. Went this past weekend and the experience was meh. Hubby had a garbage plate and it looked and smelled fabulous. My niece had a cinnamon roll that also looked great at $4.50. A little pricey for a cinnamon roll, but it lured me in so I ordered one of my own. It turned out to be the worst pastry I've had in my life. They must have nuked it because it was so hot that I couldn't touch it. The dough didn't rise so it tasted and looked like swirled rubber bands with a little cinnamon thrown in. But the cream cheese frosting was good! There were at least 3 different wait staff "helping " us and the right hand had absolutely no idea what the left was doing. I'll continue to visit. I'm hoping they were just having an off day.

Dennis E.

Yelp
I wanted to update my review, I must not have been given a full menu. The one given to me was pretty torn up and was only consisting of the front and back covers with two pages of food. I will try again the next time I'm in the area.

JJ N.

Yelp
First, ambiance...love it!!! I am so glad we came here this morning instead of eating at the hotel. Sitting at the counter is very entertaining and awesome to look around and see all the decorations and signs. If you love old diners, cause they are the best, Franks is no different and probably a step above the rest! The historic building is amazing!!! Service - great staffed, predominantly women today! Cheers to that!! Very friendly, like to laugh so interaction with us two crazies is fantastic!! Food - the garbage plates are the way to go but it's a lot of food. Corned beef hash was fantastic and the home made bread, gotta have it!! If our stomachs were bigger I'm sure the home made biscuits and gravy is to die for!! Next time Frank, next time. Huge shout out to Frank's we will be back!!!

Cool B.

Yelp
If you are in Kenosha, Frank's Diner is a must stop. The train car diner has a long history and you can read all about it on the menu. There was a small wait but not too bad. You can sit at a booth, bar counter, in the back by tables or outside tables. The menu is extensive with lots of good picks. I got three pieces of well-buttered toast that was thick and yummy. I got a garbage plate. It was good. My plate was probably under-seasoned. Two people I was with ordered the cinnamon roll at a price of over $4. The rolls looked amazing. The roll looked better then it tasted. It seemed that the dough did not have enough time to rise and that maybe it was microwave heated. :(. The inside of the roll was really tough on both of them. On other reviews I have stated that I am sort of a "freak" when it comes to fork and knives. I like my utensils heavy, sturdy and long. At Frank's the utensils did not past my test, hahaha. They are you standard flimsy cheap fork and knives. No one with me cared about the utensils. You should really stop here for food when in town you will be happy and full.

Angie M.

Yelp
Omg, what an awesome staff! So fun to watch the cook kick ass, making all the hash browns. Food was so inexpensive and so good!

Jose P.

Yelp
I love Frank Dinner. The service & food always . I went for my b day on Valentines Day to have my good garbage plate & cinamon roll & and home-made toast bread. The home made toast bread it a must try, can't forget the cinamon roll . I also have tried their huge pancakes. I always share with people that if you have never tried Frank dinner, you should don't matter if you drive 10 min to 1hr its worthwhile. You wouldn't be doing. Thanks for all the FD crew

Manuel C.

Yelp
Not your typical diner by design. I believe I read it was establish in the 1920's by the original owner. The place is amazing. Great experience and the food was phenomenal! Very large portions, you can share with others or pack an appetite. First time here but will be back to check out other items on menu!

Scott M.

Yelp
Luv'd this place. Original old skool diner, you can read about it on the front of the menu. Went with "the garbage" plate with a side of gravy. The waitress asked if I'd been here before, I told her no. She said, gravy is the secret ingredient she always adds. Last thing... the toast is made w homemade bread, cut think and slathered with melting butter. Delicious. I'll probably make another early morning trip to Kenosha soon!

Amanda W.

Yelp
Me and wifey came to Kenosha for the weekend with our pups and ordered out breakfast so we didn't have to cook. So glad we ordered here! Best food we had on vacation. Portions were huge! Me and wifey shared a garbage plate which we even had leftovers with! We also got the biscuits and gravy which gave us more than enough food. I loved the homemade toast. So good! Prices were also very reasonable. I think we paid less than $20 for breakfast and orange juice. I went to pick up the food and loved the atmosphere of the cute little train car. Wish we could have ate in! We will come back if we ever visit Kenosha again!

Fran M.

Yelp
Every time I've been to this diner, not only was the atmosphere so welcoming and relaxing. The food is out of this world delicious. If you are ever in the area or if you're not in the area, I highly recommend going to this place. Absolutely the most amazing food, the servers were out of this world amazing and made us feel so relaxed once again. I took a childhood friend to this place and we had an amazing meal. Every time I go, the food gets better and better. I highly recommend this establishment.

hallie e.

Yelp
Food is great, service was with not one smile. but most of all they need a clean up and a little paint on the general areas. Food service and prep areas were old t adequate. It is a fun place in an old repurposed freight car.

V V.

Yelp
Food was great. Long wait for food. Went on a Saturday so it was quite busy. Fun and unique place.

Sergio M.

Yelp
Love the people, food and atmosphere! Always a joy when I can make time to make it to Franks

Charles F.

Yelp
Historic dinner with great food and fun friendly staff a must if you're visiting Kenosha or this home town favorite so expect to wait a little while to get a table or you can eat at the counter

Ryder P.

Yelp
Franks Dinner has some great food but it does take a little bit of time to get to you and it's not the biggest spot

Shelley L.

Yelp
We go during the week, because the lines are too long on weekends and as much as I like this place, nothing is worth waiting hours for. A very interesting place and menu. So far I have only tried their burgers. I know they are known for their breakfast foods, but the burgers are so darn good, I have been unable to try anything else (so far). I order mine with a side of hashbrowns which are delicious. Staff is friendly and prices are fair. We drive quite a distance to eat here. It is that good. Just don't go on the weekend unless you are willing to wait.

Sarahí M.

Yelp
TV lied. I rarely go to any place tv shows advertised but our guests wanted to try it so we did. And it'll be the first and last time we do. The place is t.i.n.y.! If you're claustrophobic, enjoy personal space or need it for any reason, stay away. You will have to suck in yourself to squeeze through the aisle to get to your seat, especially if you're wearing a coat. Once you manage to get to your seat, be prepared for a raunchy and rude experience surrounded by college students. The servers are rude, but you will be able to tell this from all the signage in the place. If this was any other place of employment, toxic would be the best way to describe it. Once you're rushed or ignored to place your order, you'll have to wait a bit longer for your food. While you wait for the cook to get cooking, you may find the yelling, making fun of and disagreements entertaining. And if you're lucky, you may be a part of it, or be included in the tequila shot fest that can take place on the job amongst the staff and patrons. We, for some reason were excluded and yes, not happy because that might have helped the food taste like something. Our food came 15-20 minutes after ordering, looked great but tasted like nothing. It was so bland our table of 4 used 1/3 of salt from the shaker for the hash browns alone. It was short of edible but we paid a pretty penny for eggs and potatoes and we're hungry so had to have some. No one was able to finish their plate and we left disappointed with everything, never to return again.

Colleen H.

Yelp
What's not to love? Fresh, delicious diner food. Friendly service. Loud, fun atmosphere. Prices seem too good to be true. The garbage plates are exactly what I want in a diner breakfast/brunch. Free jalapeños? Yes please! The homemade chicken tenders and tavern fries hit the spot. My kids LOVE the Mickey Mouse pancakes. And I love Franks! Haven't had a cinnamon roll yet but it's on the top of my to try list. ;)

Greg B.

Yelp
Years ago I stopped at Frank's Diner for breakfast on my way down to Chicago from Milwaukee. I recall liking it and I know it's fairly popular, which is why I left it on my Yelp bookmarks. Since I never left a review, though, and I was heading down to Chicago today early in the morning, I thought, why not, I'll stop for breakfast again. I ordered a half garbage plate with bacon for the meat, mozzarella for the cheese, and no veggies. For the toast option I got their homemade toast. I also ordered a side of corned beef hash. The point of me ordering no veggies in my garbage plate is I don't like onion or green pepper. I didn't explicitly see a description of the corned beef hash on their menu, so I didn't know it comes with both onion and green pepper mixed in it. Had I known, I wouldn't have ordered it. If that's your thing, it looks like it might be good and the larger chunks of corned beef I was able to pick out were indeed good. I didn't eat much of it, though. Both the half garbage plate and two pieces of homemade toast are absolutely huge and an incredible value if lots of food for little cost is your priority. I thought the toast was pretty flavorless other than the large glob of butter between the two pieces (I had no problem with the amount of butter, but I could see some people might). Disappointing for how good it looked. During a few bites I thought the massive amount of hashbrowns on the plate overpowered both the bacon and egg was the only discernible flavor. Mozzarella may not have been my best choice for cheese because it's a pretty mild cheese and didn't stand out either. If I stop again, I would get a stronger flavored cheese, like American, and probably sausage instead of bacon as it's less likely to be lost in the hashbrowns than the bacon was.

Deb G.

Yelp
This was our first visit to Frank's Diner... cool atmosphere and great service. We ordered the garbage plate, which was good, definitely a must try! Get here early to avoid long wait lines...

Chet H.

Yelp
Great food, wonderful service, the ambiance is amazing, I love going there because not only are the people great I'm in and out in orderly fashion.

Danny C.

Yelp
This place is amazing! It's really unusually different and the food was top notch! A small word...expect he miracle breakfast that you will receive to take awhile. Well worth the freaking wait!!

Mary Y.

Yelp
When you step in the Franks, you step back in time. It's amazing. Everyone there is very kind and welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious. They're homemade bread is worth the wait. The decorations around every spot in the building has a story. I highly recommend coming. If you don't like to wait, which you will, I recommend getting there at 7 AM when they open lol. We were here on a visit from California on our way to see the Green Bay Packer game and this was recommended by a friend and so glad we went.

Mark D.

Yelp
Back again at Frank's. This diner is ALWAYS hopping. Cozy quarters and good food. Cannot ask for more.

Shayna F.

Yelp
I personally don't understand the hype of this place. It's very cramped, there's often a long wait, hours are short. The place is very messy and unclean. The food is good, but not particularly remarkable. I honestly prefer IHOP. There is a bit of a diner charm to this location. Worth trying at least once for the experience.

Jeff T.

Yelp
Okay. The cinnamon rolls might be enough on their own to make this a must-stop. We had to order a second one because the first went so fast. Fun vibe, sassy-punk-crabby-uncle attitude, and killer diner food come together to make a memorable experience for all. It's cramped and dirty, but it adds character.

Rosemarie L.

Yelp
Food is excellent. Garbage plate is the best. Best breakfast around. Plenty of options but everyone needs to try the garbage plate at least once

Tammy S.

Yelp
My brother and I took a 2 hour drive on our vacation day July 3rd from northeastern Wisconsin to Franks diner and Mars Cheese Castle and headed back thru Milwaukee for a day road trip. Saw Franks diner on a food show so thought a great place to have breakfast on our work day off. Got there and really unique, neat homey place. I would say not handicap accessible due to age of building. Very short stairs with restroom in basement and not real accessible for handicapped. If I was a local it would be a great place to walk to often and reasonable prices. Saw the history in building with pictures etc. Our waitress came by and we ordered 1 garbage plate and decided to share it and I asked for a coffee. Wasn't overly busy on a Wednesday at 10:45 am. We waited and no coffee. I flagged down a waiter and no problem got my coffee. We waited and waited. I took a pic of building on the outside at time was 10:46. After 30+ minutes and booth behind us that arrived about 20 minutes later got their breakfast I went to counter. She was busy talking/socializing to a customer and waited to acknowledge me and I asked about our breakfast. She said ours was next in line but saw it was precooked on grill cut in sections. Another waitress brought our food and we also noticed a family at counter staring at her also waiting for service. No apology from our waitress. Food was good and really a neat place but employees should take pride to work in a nice historic diner like this.

Yelp
Enjoyed sitting at the counter watching the cook. Had a tuna melt on their homemade bread and it was delicious! I had to wait about 10-15 minutes for someone to take my order, which seemed odd. I finally asked someone if I had to order somewhere else, and that apparently prompted a waitress to come over. She never appeared again, and other people sort of picked up on the service here and there. Kind of crowded and noisy but I liked the ambience and I enjoyed the food a lot. Most people were getting the "garbage plate" which looked like a mix of eggs, hashbrowns and other good stuff. Just not for me. I do recommend it but the wait staff is a little odd and hard to get service from. They apparently just added the use of credit cards, and it took about 7-8 minutes for one transaction at the register. (??!!) I paid cash just to avoid that.

Yelp
A local legend lives up to its billing. Today we stopped in late morning on a wednesday and we still had a 5 minute wait for a booth. Seating was available at the counter but this old back likes to have a little support. The service was quick and the coffee was hot and refilled often. Our waitress was a newbie and rolled with my gentle teasing of what she would recommend. I ordered the cinnamon french toast with a nice piece of ham that had kissed the grill which gave it a nice tasty glazed flavor. My wife enjoyed the 1/2 garbage plate with one meat. We both cleaned our plates with a smile and vowed to return. Oh I nearly forgot I ordered a cinnamon roll to go which came with a very nice portion of frosting . I can't wait for tomorrow's breakfast.

Yelp
Literally EVERYTHING you read says YOU WILL WAIT. This place is definitely worth the wait. All of the foor was excellent. Service was top notch! I eat biscuits and gravy whenever it is on the menu. This was quite tasty. Well seasoned with chunks of sausage. The biscuits were moist and the amount of gravy more than sifficient. The bacon is "diner" bacon... so think Denny's... thin, but good flavor and cooked just right. Toast comes heavily buttered. We had the homemade and the cinnamon. Both were fresh and good. The Mimosa's were HUGE and they didn't skimp on the bubbly. Definitely would go back again.

Yelp
Totally love the idea of this place, the funkiness, diner, homemade bread, etc but I stopped eating here as a vegetarian because my food kept tasting like greasy bacon and it grossed me out.

Yelp
Honestly am never disappointed here. Except for one time when I didn't order potatoes, that wasn't bad! Always get the potatoes and the house bread with butter! Will be back, like we usually are!

Yelp
Love! Love ! This place. Came down here years ago when I saw it on diner's,drive ins, and dives. The garbage plate is to die for!! It's an old train car they built extra rooms on. It's a dive but you have to enter and just let the smells of great food hit you in the face! Staff is great and a little sassy but that's the fun part.

Yelp
No frills, and certainly no requirements, as this restaurant has been serving hot quality all American diner fare since the 1920's! As a foodie, had to take the drive to Kenosha and taste for myself. Got to sit at the lunch counter, mind you one of the oldest and remaining dining cars still in operation, when at the counter you sit where all the action is at. Ordered the 1/2 garbage plate, one of their known specialties, with sausage that had a zing of sage flavor that took the combo to a new level. Served with their homemade toast, also tried one flap jack cake. Steaming hot with butter smear, only wish I would have brought along some authentic maple syrup. Food does take a bit to come out, but be kind, there literally is only one chef manning the griddle, and she is a force to be reckoned with. Don't worry, plenty of memorabilia, entertaining signs and people watching so you won't get bored! Can't wait to come back and try the house made corned beef hash!

Yelp
Great food, crappy service. On a Wednesday morning in December, we were told to wait outside for a table. It wasn't even crowded like their weekend traffic, and it didn't make any sense. They took my phone number and sent us out into the cold. We decided to go to the nearby Coffee Pot, which also makes excellent breakfasts. When Frank's called, we had driven, parked, ordered, been served, and eaten our breakfast already. No place is so good that it can afford to send away good customers. Unlikely I'll ever return.

Yelp
How can you go wrong? It's a favorite of everyone from Kenosha for a reason. If you want breakfast in Kenosha, this is your place. Worth the long wait to be seated in a tiny booth or bar seat. Don't expect to be in a hurry. It has gotten better over the years, but it's definitely not a place you can get in and out in less than an hour, especially on weekends. A half garbage plate is plenty of food, the full garbage plate will give you leftovers.
