Freddo - Review - Studio City - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Freddo is a gelato chain from Argentina famous for its signature dulce de leche ice cream, and to little surprise, it’s amazing. Even when solidly frozen, this rich gelato has the stretchiness of warm caramel. It’s indulgent, but this Studio City shop has plenty of less-sweet flavors to balance your three-scoop cup, like toasty pistachio and a velvety-tart passion fruit sorbetto. Beyond frozen desserts, Freddo is just a pleasant place to hang out or meet up with friends at any hour: There’s Wifi on the spacious back patio, plus coffee, alfajores, and medialuna sandwiches served until 9pm (11pm on weekends)." - Sylvio Martins

LA’s New Restaurant Openings

"An Argentinian icon has arrived in LA (no, Messi is not transferring to LAFC, but we can dream). Freddo is a gelato chain that’s been scooping its signature dulce de leche in Buenos Aires since the ’60s, and now its first California location is open in Studio City. There are two dozen flavors to choose from, including tiramisú, mascarpone with raspberry swirl, and Sicilian pistachio." - sylvio martins

Absolutely amazing! I'm from Buenos Aires, currently living in LA. Having a little piece of Argentina around me is always welcome. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and today I finally got the time for it... It was the best decision I've made in a while. Being able to experience what REAL coffee is once again with our traditional sweet croissants and the ones stuffed with ham and cheese took me back to my country for a little bit, it felt like home. Our server Natalia made this experience 100 times better by welcoming us into this awesome coffee experience and receiving us very warmly as well. Also, we took 1/2 a kilo of REAL ice cream (Gelatto) home so we can keep enjoying the best argentinian flavors for a couple more days. 100 out of 10 experience. I will definitely try to come back at least once a month to keep in touch with my roots.

I had a cappuccino with a ham and cheese croissant, exquisite. A portion of pasta frola and chocolate and mascarpone ice cream. Go, not to be missed. A piece of Argentina in Los Angeles.

The hype is real! All the flavors we tried were amazing and rich in flavor. The ice cream was light and the portion sizes were great. Most people were going for the cone but we settled for the cups to avoid the added calories. We will be back to try the coffee and more flavors. Great addition to Studio City.

I waited 15 years for Freddo to come to La! And it did NOT disappoint. The store associate, Charley, was so sweet and helpful, allowing my cousin and I to taste different flavors until we found the perfect combination for our cups and to go order!

Just like in Buenos Aires...almost. Freddo was my go-to ice cream spot in Buenos Aires and I always wondered why they never franchised and came to the States. Well they have and they opened one up on LA. I headed in to check the flavors (consistent with what I remembered when living in Argentina) and a few new ones. I had to go for the Dark Chocolate and Coconut Dulce de leche since those are my favs. I came away with the nostalgia of eating great gelato but it did taste a bit different, much sweeter than I remember. I'm not sure if that was to appease the US customer's sweet tooth or a change because of local ingredients. Although apart from it being much sweeter, it was delicious as always (and the staff was amazing too!). I highly recommend!

I was so excited to hear about Freddo opening up in LA! It's an Argentinian ice cream shop that brought back so many memories of me and my grandma getting ice cream together in Argentina. She would always get Dulce de Leche Granizado and Chocolate Suizo—both are still as delicious as I remember. The creamy dulce de leche with chocolate bits and the rich chocolate are absolute classics. The Lemon is super refreshing, and I was surprised by how good the Banana Split was, too! If you're looking for authentic Argentinian flavors, Freddo is a must-try!!

The best Argentine ice cream has arrived! Finally! Ice cream from my home country and the best one. My favorite Sambayon and dulce de leche granizado. Delicious, it brings me a lot of great memories. Thank you Freddo!

Yelp
Several months ago, during our visit with our Los Angeles relatives, we passed by this storefront, and I was excited for this business to open. Unfortunately, we returned home, but my relatives recently reported that they had opened on September 27, 2024. I was reminded of Freddo's Argentinean roots and their ice cream-gelato hybrid frozen treats, which I tried over 10 years ago during a visit to Charleston, SC. It's great to see this Argentinean gelato chain expand to more locations in the USA. I would urge you to try their unctuous signature Dulce de Leche flavors, such as the Dulce de Leche with Chocolate Chunks or Oreos or any of their natural fruit-flavored gelato creams. I still remember the luscious taste of the Philippin Coconut (coconut with milk caramel) from our brief but emergent South Carolina visit. I look forward to eating more of Freddo's gelato flavors in Los Angeles, CA and possibly in Las Vegas, NV and possibly in Las Vegas, NV. By the way, Eater LA magazine recently incorrectly posted Freddo's address as 1916 Ventura Blvd instead of 11916 Ventura Blvd where we had seen this location.

The gelato and sorbet are amazing!!! The staff is super sweet and incredible. This place is awesome, you have to try it out!!! Our favorite flavors so far are the coconut with dulce de leche, tiramisu and the banana split where to die for!!! We also had a pastry that was delish! Ambiance was super played back and friendly. They also have to go tubs!

Yelp
They have the best gelato in town. The Dulce de Leche is out of this world. Their pastries and espresso coffee are excellent too. Their patio is lovely. The people are knowledgeable and friendly. Overall, it's a great place for a gelato or espresso.

Yelp
Wonderful high quality Argentine gelato including phenomenal dulce de leche flavors. Finally a place with a nice ambiance and large amount of seating both inside and outside to take the kids. Servers are very friendly and welcoming. Definitely would recommend!

Yelp
This is the best ice cream I've tried in LA. I love the fact that it's exported straight from Argentina. The ice cream tastes so fresh and creamy. On top of all that, the staff is so friendly. They also have plenty of outdoor and indoor seating to sit down and enjoy. Definitely worth to give it a try.

Yelp
Beautiful gelato spot at Studio City. They have an excellent customer service. My dear friend Sol, did a great job with the pictures on the wall because she created a great familiar ambiance. Love this place because it is neat with high quality food items. You should try the best of Argentina between Medialunas for breakfast with great lattes and taste the creamy gelatos. My favorites are Coconut Dulce de leche and Tiramisu.

Yelp
This is by no means the best Gelato in town. It reeks of an awkward franchise. Weird, stilted service. Wilted pastries coming out of the toaster oven on the counter. Grainy gelato not unlike grocery store fare. Nothing to see here. Not a welcoming space--not a welcoming product. Walk to Heavy Handed for a soft serve.

Yelp
Soooo good! I loved everything about it: Friendly staff, ambiance and, of course, the ice cream! I'll come back for sure. Yummy Meter: 10

Yelp
I went there with a friend today. As we are both deaf, the staff served all other hearing people before they came to us. As I'm a diabetic, I asked the staff if they had sugar free gelato but they said no. The place had a handful of people - young adults with dogs, families with kids, and others. I noticed they had a small patio in the back for pleasant private eating time. However, I faulted the store for having no toilet paper rolls in the bathroom. I would suggest they add sugar free gelato for any diabetic customers and refilling the toilet paper rolls in the bathroom

Yelp
Best gelato in LA. Great service and beautiful ambiance. Dulce de leche was my favorite.

Yelp
Never been a huge gelato person but wow how I've switched over. This place was beyond amazing. Not only was the gelato delicious but the customer service was just as good. The staff was so friendly and patient as we tested new flavors and the vibe of the entire place was amazing. The outdoor patio is such a hidden gem. Obsessed with this place!
