"Farmer's Market Where Food Meets Politics Atlanta is ripe with farmer's markets and the Freedom Farmer's Market, held weekly from March to December at the Carter Center, is one of the better ones. It has less stalls than others around town, but many of the vendors come from much further away to showcase their goods. Grab a warm pastry from the Star Provisions tent and a pour over coffee from 1000 Faces Coffee of Athens to sip as you wander the stalls. Bring your own bag to take home your haul of produce. Each week a local restaurant holds a pop up tent to showcase a unique dish only available there. You may even see former president Jimmy Carter walking around!"
Year-round and farmer-run beside the Carter Center, it draws chefs and locals for organic produce, pastured meats, coffee, and prepared foods. Praised in the AJC’s 2025 roundup for its focus on sustainability and SNAP matching. Expect live music and seasonal celebrations.
Love coming to this fresh farmers market. Went there last on 8/31/2024. As always, the fresh produce and flowers look good: eggplant, okra, tomatoes, leaf lettuce, etc. I have been going every Saturday. Highly recommended.

Great place to come and find fun stuff to cook. They have beautiful seasonal flowers, fruits and veggies. Not a lot of order to go food options so maybe eat before hand. I bought flowers and hibiscus at my last visit and made Carribean sorrel

I love this market so much because the area is simply lovely. Huge trees bring a lot of shade to vendors and customers. Plenty of local veggies offered and plentiful free parking. Great walking area too. Next door to President Jimmy Carter Museum & Library.

Of the Atlanta weekend farmers’ markets, this one is the most farm. People are there promptly at 8:30am vying for local fruits and vegetables, and they take their vegetables serious. While taking pictures of some adorable carrots, I could feel the glare of the gentleman next in line. He was not here for basic bish antics. He was here for adorable carrots and was going to get the best of the lot.
You’ll find a wide selection of produce not usually found in grocery stores. One vendor had all sorts of mushrooms. Another, artisanal goat cheese which probably makes you fancier when ingested.
There is a bike valet so you can get the full “I love the environment and support local” experience. If you don’t care about the environment (or live far away) parking is readily available and free.
For those looking for a less farm experience, there is coffee and pastries by well loved local shops. You can then take your iced coffee and walk the stone mountain path.

I enjoyed this farmers market. I’ve been to smaller ones and this one had a good balance of produce and ready-to-eat foods! I finally got to try Little Tart Bakeshop too.
Parking was easy enough to find as people come and go. I was surprised that the market had some shade with all the trees around. We came early in the day to beat the heat and humidity.
It’s a fun market to bring the kids and dogs to!

Freedom Farmer’s Market is such a beautiful spot to check out on a Saturday morning. The park is stunning, there’s easy parking, the market is full of great stuff, and it’s even shaded for those hot Atlanta summer days.
You can even bike there, and leave your bike at their free bike valet!

I’ve been a couple of times now … I like it. It’s a consistent, fresh, mini grocery store. I can get meat, greens, flowers, eggs, grits 😁, snacks.
