French Alpine Bistro - Crêperie du Village

This restaurant is truly extraordinary. I consider myself an onion soup, connoisseur, and this onion soup was among the best I have ever had. The summer salad was a 8 1/2 out of 10 it was fresh, but had a little too much dressing. The dessert, a crème brûlée crêpe was also to die for I will eat here every time I come to Aspen. It’s truly a wonderful spot. The atmosphere is also very charming and the weight staff was amazing. I really can’t rate it any higher. It was over $100 without tip and no alcohol, but worth it IMHO.

Absolutely loved this place! The ambiance is cozy, romantic, and feels like you’ve been transported to a little alpine chalet in Europe. The food was outstanding — rich flavors, perfectly prepared, and so comforting. Service was warm and attentive without being rushed. A must-visit every time we’re in Aspen!

Incredible experience! The place was very welcoming. We dared to try some dishes and cocktails, and honestly, none of them disappointed. Everything arrived super fast. Tomas and Juanma were incredibly attentive and friendly, and they made our evening perfect. Javi at the bar made some delicious cocktails, and Eliza, the manager, gave us a very warm welcome. I highly recommend it and would gladly return.

Great experience overall. The food was delicious and beautifully prepared, with authentic French flavors. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal. A special thank you to our waitress Alexa, who was incredibly helpful and friendly—she made the evening even more enjoyable. Will definitely be coming back.

We had high hopes for the experience. However, we were extremely let down. Our reservation was at 5:30. We weren’t waited on until 6PM. Our waiter was very unpleasant and very unprofessional. We had to ask another waitress to find out who was our waiter so we could even order. He took our order and never came back. The fondue was very good, but the experience overall ruined that. When manager asked how our experience was we were very honest and she did try to make it right by covering our cocktails. However, after this experience I’m not sure we would ever return.

Quant dinning experience, sit at the bar and enjoy the sights and sounds of the kitchen. The outdoor heated dining experience is great for small groups. Love the food.

I do not have command of a sufficient number of superlatives to explain to you how wonderful this restaurant is! It was like finding an oasis of Paris on a street corner in Aspen. The food was fantastic, the drinks were perfect and the atmosphere was magical. This is our can’t miss option in Aspen.

Amazing Experience! The fondue was just like mom used to make during our holiday fondue parties every year. Loved it, cozy experience. Thank you to our server Juan M. for the excellent customer service.

We had a reservation for 7:30 PM and arrived at 7:20 PM, but we were forced to wait **40 minutes** in 29 degrees Fahrenheit before being seated. What's the point of a reservation if you're still going to make us wait that long? To make matters worse, no one provided timely updates. We had to repeatedly go to the front desk to ask for status updates. First, they told us our table would be ready by 7:40 PM. At 7:40 PM, we followed up, and they said another 10 minutes. At 7:50 PM, they still couldn't give us a clear ETA. We were finally seated at 8 PM. Once seated, the service was slow and disorganized. It took **8 minutes** for someone to take our order. The appetizers came out in **5-10 minutes**, but the entrees took a whopping **40 minutes** to arrive. By the time we finished eating, it felt like the entire evening had been wasted waiting. The food itself was just *alright*--nothing special. We ordered the Escargots, Terrine de Foie Gras, Steak Tartare, Boeuf Bourguignon, and Chicken Fricassée. The flavors were decent, but the experience was ruined by the poor service and lack of attention to detail. Speaking of attention to detail, **they didn't ask about dietary restrictions**. I'm lactose intolerant, and any good restaurant would make it a point to ask about dietary needs before serving. Ironically, they gave us a free appetizer (some kind of cheese on bread) as compensation for the long wait. I couldn't eat it because, you guessed it, it had cheese. If they had asked about dietary restrictions earlier, they would've known. Overall, the experience was frustrating and disappointing. The long wait times, lack of communication, and disregard for dietary restrictions made this a night to forget. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere that values your time and dietary needs.

The Eispalatschinke crepe made me see god. Okay, so this place is absolutely amazing and situated perfectly. A small little restaurant below ground that is decorated immaculately to make you feel right at home. The staff are just incredible. They are fast, friendly and really help each other check on patrons to make sure you are taken care of. Finally the food, can i get a hallelujah!!! Everything was incredibly fresh, hand made and absolutely delicious. The Gazpacho was perfect for a warm summer day and you could really savor the flavors. The Boeuf Bourguignon was so tender it just melted in your mouth and the sauce was the best I've had. Now the crepe I've mentioned, it is my new favorite dessert ever and was executed flawlessly. Food is art not only in presentation and this was a Picasso/Rembrandt/Monet all in one. That pistachio ice cream with the fluffy crepe was a religious experience. I'll be driving the three hours just to get it again soon.

- Came for their happy hour - Regular menu is quite pricey (as is most places in Aspen) - The decor inside is very unique, gives you a cozy feeling - They have outdoor seating - The french onion soup is ok - The steak tartare is huge and very filling. Saw a picture on here with fries but now it comes with chips - The HH burger was incredibly misleading. Their instagram photo is MUCH better than the real thing - The burger comes with chips not fries, the menu said it came with tomato but all we got was bun + patty + cheese. How do you forget an ingredient lol - All servers were very friendly, the food came out fast - Since it's a small space, there's a gust of wind every time someone comes in and out

Now THIS was the Aspen dining experience that I've been anticipating! The place itself is AMAZING...so lush in its French and rustic chic decor-ambiance, with the perfect French music overhead. Pictures just didn't do justice to the overall vibe you get here...totally Aspen! Hate to use the word again, but their menu was also amazing...so many tantalizing choices, I had a hard time choosing. However, I finally decided to try one of their crepes (think it's what they're famous for?)...Nirvana, which was this Thai-influenced savory crepe. From its exquisite presentation to taste, that Nirvana crepe was truly heavenly. I also had to try one of their crepe desserts as well...and at the recommendation of the Manager (?), I decided to go for their "Midnight in Paris", which was this crepe w/ vanilla creme brulee custard and crispy caramel. Yummm!! I also tried their cocktail, Pink Panther...and it was quite good. Somehow I expected a bit more from this though. Service was top notch. From the moment you enter the door, you definitely get the sense that you're at a 5-star restaurant. These 3 items for lunch totaled 95 bucks (including tip)...and I wasn't even mad lol. Unlike some other Aspen restaurants I've been to, I felt that the foods, service and the ambiance actually merited the lofty pricing here. This was the 5-star Aspen dining experience that I've been looking for...so now I feel that I've finally experienced one of the best things in Aspen!

Incredible and Aspen to its core. The vibe at French Alpine Bistro is unbeatable, from the cozy decor, to the open kitchen it has a very luxurious but inviting interior. Keep in mind the small space does get quite chilly when the front door is being opened and closed often. The service was great, only slightly strange thing was main courses were brought out with appetizers but it wasn't a huge issue. The standout dishes were - raclette - coq au vin - Beef Bourgnon - green curry crepe - Nutella crepe

Tbh, this place would have gotten more stars out of me, but in spite of having a reservation, they placed the five of us at a four top and the one guy in our party was trying to be a gentleman so he took the seat right next to the wall. He couldn't move because he was afraid that the wall decor would drop onto the table if he budged. We had to take the decorative pillows, our coats, shopping bags, etc and shove them all to under our feet, which was crazy and upsetting. Even though our gentleman friend was crowded in the corner, he tried to be a good sport because he loves the truffle gnocchi at this place so much, that 4 of the 5 of us ordered it, and he was right. He called the gnocchi truffly clouds in your mouth and yes, it was so smooth and creamy and delicious. Definitely one of the best bites of our week in Aspen. He also raved about the onion soup which was nice and hearty. Sis ordered the Salade Paysanne which had just the tastiest lardons in it and a delicious dressing. The Kobe burger was pretty much just a burger. I should know better than to order kobe that way, since the grilling cooks out all the fatty goodness. The sommelier found out that our friend was a wine connoisseur, so I think he tried to make up for him being shoved right into the wall by letting him try samples of a bunch of wines, which made him happy, but I thought wasn't enough to make up for the lack of comfort of all of us being shoehorned in to that tiny space.

French Alpine was a fantastic dining experience! My husband and I came for our honeymoon and enjoyed the escargot bisque, fondue for 2, and we split a wagyu burger. The escargot came already shelled and in the bisque. They were cooked well and not chewy at all. The fondue for two had an interesting taste. I enjoyed the fondue, but my husband was not very fond of it. It came with apples, bread, and pickles to dip in the pot. My favorite was the bread. The wagyu burger is the reason why we were only able to give our visit four stars. While we enjoyed the burger, the meat lacked flavor even though it had a garlic aïoli sauce on it. I also enjoyed an espresso martini and it was absolutely amazing! The service was great and the ambience was very interesting and cozy. Note: I wouldn't bring children/teenagers to this restaurant due to the pictures that are hung on the walls/particularly the bathroom. Our dining experience was a while ago, so maybe they've changed the decor in there since then. I am unsure. Also, the seating is very close together

One of my favorite meals in Aspen! Sharing the cheese fondue with a group was absolutely delicious and four people easily split a portion for two which I would definitely recommend as it is pretty big and rich. The truffle gnocchi was a shining star and was so rich I thought about it the rest of the day. The coq au vin was good and I'm glad we tried it but wouldn't get it again over the beef which was so tender and simply melted in our mouths.

The French onion soup was warm but not hot. The server did not tell us there were any specials until after we ordered. I guess she forgot, then she never apologized or really cared that she forgot. They served us an appetizer but no plates to eat off of.....we had to ask for some plates and it took forever to get them. My wife ordered wine and we had to ask for it 3 additional times before it showed up. It showed up after we were done with appetizers. The portions were small and the prices were high. You could probably find a better place for dinner. Oh yeah, and the place is really small so the tables are very close together so don't expect to have a private conversation.

They are always booked. The hostess was super nice trying to see if she could do something but it looks like this place is very popular. Make reservations before if you really want to try this place.

We reserved a table for 13 people for a wedding celebration. We had the main table in the center of the restaurant. Everyone loved the decor and ambiance. The staff throughout the night were so friendly and attentive. Our server was super friendly and had great recommendations from the menu all night. For appetizers we ordered the French onion soup, tartare, and raclette. Everything was delicious and loved by the table. My personal favorite was the French onion soup. It was so flavorful and packed with cheese. For entrees I ordered the scallops, my husband got the schnitzel, and others ordered the gnocchi, coq au vin, mussels, filet, sea bass, and salad. Again, everything was SO good. The scallops were cooked perfectly- great crust and the saffron sauce was heavenly. My husband enjoyed his schnitzel and everyone else was raving about their food. Some other highlights were the gnocchi which was so rich and flavorful and the coq au vin. The chicken was fall off the bone, the potatoes were so good, and the red wine sauce was top notch. The wine list is extensive and the cocktails were also very good. Overall, our party enjoyed dinner and we are all dying to go back! The prices are pretty standard for the area but we would recommend this place to anyone!

We had a wonderful experience on a Friday night here. We sat at a very cozy outdoor spot with a little heater and blanket so not cold at all. Our server Juan was a delight to chat with and took very good care of us. The cheese fondue, truffle gnocchi and meat dish we had was well timed and incredible. Hats off to the kitchen team. We would definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely evening.

I had such a wonderful experience at this charming French restaurant in Aspen, Colorado! The place is absolutely adorable, with a cozy and inviting ambiance that sets the perfect tone for a great meal. The food was delicious--every dish was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. The pricing was very reasonable for the quality, which made it even better. The service was fantastic as well! Our server, Gonçalo, mentioned it was his first day, and I think he's going to do great. He was attentive, polite, and made sure we were well taken care of. I just wish this restaurant was in Oakland, where I'm visiting from--I'd be there all the time! If you're ever in Aspen, don't miss this gem. Highly recommend!

Oui! Oui! This little bistro feels like an escape into France. We loved the cozy decor! The frisée salad had, quite possibly, the most perfectly cooked egg placed on top like a jewel in a crown. And the gooey gooey raclette did not disappoint. A total indulgence!

A quintessential Aspen experience, this restaurant was well worth the hype! In fact, I think it might have been the coziest and most charming restaurant I'ver ever been too. A little on the pricy side, but we'll worth it for the amazing ambiance and service. As a group of 5, we started with cocktails/wine and the Escargot which was sooo tasty and served with the fluffiest/crispiest bread for dipping. For dinner, we tried the Kobe Beef Burger which was cooked perfectly medium and accented with truffle and caramelized onions. We also tried the Coq au Vin (braised chicken) and Kaiser-Schnitzel, which were also quite tasty. I hope to go back and try their fondue and raclette, which were someone the more unique items on their menu that we opted to skip. Overall highly recommend! Tip: make a reservation well in advance!!

We got there a little early before our reservation. It's located downstairs and easy to walk past if you are walking at night. This place gets booked up pretty quickly. I used open table app. Service was a little awkward in the beginning since it's such a tight space and they had to sit us outside at the "bar" to accommodate our early arrival. The decor is very interesting I believe it's a Victorian style. Very close and intimate seating. You will rub elbows with your neighbors. Only two options for beer either the local aspen brewery ipa or corona. My husband said the hazy ipa was pretty good had a fruity taste to it. Pink panther cocktail was refreshing and sweet with hints of floral. Steak tartare was standard but the crostini gave it great texture. Boeuf bourguignon was a little on the bland side if you are familiar with beef pot roast that's pretty much what you are ordering Apple cinnamon crepe was huge wasn't expecting that. That really filled us up. Fluffy and buttery crepe with a nice and warm apple cinnamon and cool vanilla bean ice cream to finish our meal. Honestly, the highlight of the meal for me was the French fries. It had an outer crunch layer to it kind of like double fried. It was very hot when it came out. The perfect combination you need for ideal French fries. Overall, Service from Federico was great even with how busy it was. The price is definitely on the high side for the quality of food you get.

I went in for Happy Hour and ordered a tonic water with lime to drink. I have been sober for a long time....and was brought a gin and tonic. I told the waiter this has alcohol in it--he said no. I told him to smell it. He then took it to the bartender and asked him. The bartender had put gin in it.... The bartenders friend at the end of the bar said.."eh, things happen." Not sure why he felt the need to chime in. The waiter peppered me with questions: Are you sober, how long have you been sober (!) It was very inappropriate. The food was ok, but I won't be going back.

Amazing experience here! Cozy, decorated environment; delicious food (fondue, muscles, raclette, crepe suzette). Also super nice, welcoming, attentive staff, especially Juan from Argentina and the sommelier from Colombia. Would 100% recommend for anyone who wants a classic French cusine experience.

This has to be one of the most dreadful service experiences we've had in a very long time. We have been in places that have been slammed, but here we were basically ignored throughout service, as were tables next to us. After being seated our server did not show up for 15 minutes. When he showed up he said bluntly "are you ready?" and we gave him our order, but told him we never got the wine list. He came back a few minutes later but he never returned to ask what wine we wanted, so we said forget the wine. He also took our bottle of water which was never refilled, and we never got checked on the rest of the meal. Literally we never saw our server for the rest of the meal, we basically had to yell at him to get us more water and the check. The food - good but ridiculously overpriced for what you get. Wife ordered the $62 saffron scallops and there were three and a half scallops, sauce, a few tomatoes and no starch. Two small french onion soups for $44. Insane. Quality was good but I expect to pay these kinds of prices at The French Laundry or Alinea, not a homestyle French restaurant, albeit it is Aspen. Even at being overpriced, the service was just awful, and management is completely to blame. There is zero attention being paid to the front of house, they're woefully understaffed and untrained. No care or attention to detail. Not a single visit to our table to see what we needed. Just unacceptable for any restaurant, and insulting at this price point. I don't blame the servers, they're working with the situation handed to them. This is all management being clueless and greedy. Hard pass.

Probably the best meal we've ever had in Aspen! Make a reservation here as soon as you plan to go to Aspen! This is a cosy restaurant with amazing French food - I am in awe of this place! We brought our friends here for a late lunch and everyone loved it! For drinks, a few of us got the Aspen mindset and a few friends got the Pink panther - both fantastic! Very refreshing! We got the French onion soup, probably the best I've had in a very very long time and the truffle gnocchi- a celebration for my taste buds! We have friends that are vegetarian and our server accommodated to their customisation needs! Our experience was nothing less than perfect! For desserts, we got the midnight in Paris, we loved it so much we got a second order. We also tried the schokoldepalatschinke (phew!) Service here is top notch, ambience is so cozy, everything here exceeds five stars! I highly recommend everyone visiting aspen try this restaurant! Make that reservation!

The fondue was horrible and the place is crowded you can hardly move in there. We were squashed like sardines. Over priced crap.

The food was amazing, but above all, the service provided by the two Argentine staff members was outstanding. I believe one of them is named Juan Manuel. I highly recommend this restaurant--it's the kind of experience that makes you want to come back again and again!

We just walked by and saw the happy hour between 3pm-6pm and decide to try it. Our waiter Juan was the best, Tony popped by a few times and was equally friendly. The service was great and the drinks were perfect. We will definitely be coming back every time we visit !

This spot was very cozy! Food was rich and delicious. We ordered French Onion Soup. The soup was very cheesy and filling. Up next we ordered the escargots en brioche. It was simple and okay for an appetizer.

We were here for christmas eve and everything was decent besides the fact that our reservation was at 7:15 and we ended up getting seated at 7:40. The food was pretty good and our waiter was very nice, however we are here today on the 26th for a brunch and our waitress is very rude. first she cuts me off when i'm ordering the starters because she was so compelled to tell me what the special was even though it was basically the same as the other day. we then started off to order our mains and asked for a burger. and my boyfriend also asked for a diet coke. however as more food started to come our diet coke never came and they gave us the wrong order. when I confronted her about getting the wrong order. her first reaction was not to apologize but to (in a very nasty tone) question why we didn't stop her when she was repeating the order to us. to be honest she speaks like a mosquito where i couldn't hear shit. later on her manager came to apologize. I just think that if you're in the service industry you should treat people who you are serving with more respect. ps her name

What a great spot. Ambiance is exactly what you're looking for... nice and cozy with interesting art to help inspire conversation. If you're into crepes and fondu... this is the place. I didn't get to try the Sea Bass but it looked cooked to perfection. I'd say the best part was the service. Everyone was very attentive, especially our waiter, Juan. He was super knowledgeable about all the dishes and his happy demeanor and wit made it a 5 Star experience. When you go... see if you can get Juan as your waiter. You'll thank me.

Amazing restaurant in the heart of Aspen. If you aren't looking for it , you may miss it, even if it's on the corner. Some seating outside, but most of the seating is downstairs. Adorable outdoor seating in the courtyard with cozy chairs, warm and inviting decor, but the inside is even more amazing. Transporting you to a mountain side restaurant in the Alps, with fur covers, antler chandeliers and rustic tables and chairs. Even with the mountain vibes, it still feels upscale with the linen napkins, beautiful glasses and candles all aglow. We ordered a couple of their signature cocktails which were unique and delicious, and had the Foie Gras to share as our appetizer. Would highly recommend as it was so good! It was lunch time so we ordered the Caprese Sandwich, Salade de Chèvre Chaud, and Boeuf Bourguignon. These would all be recommended and I would order these again. Unfortunately we did not have room for dessert - will have to enjoy that for another time. The service was friendly, attentive and fast. It is a little expensive but well worth it! I will be back again!
