Eco-Friendly Take-Out Containers Could Make Takeout Less Terrible for the Environment | Bon Appétit

"“We work with Fresh Impact Farms, which does hydroponics in Arlington, Virginia. They grow these beautiful flowers and herbs, and they deliver them in little Rubbermaid containers. I really liked them and thought a dish could fit in there. So now we’re creating a program where you can sign up for a container like this for your takeout. You bring it back and get a return deposit, and we sanitize. It’s like the old milkman system.”" - ByElyse Inamine

Diners Can Forage For the Ingredients In Their Dinner at Bourbon Steak | Eater DC

"In Arlington I found Fresh Impact Farms, a hydroponic indoor operation run by Ryan Pierce that grows small-scale assortments of herbs and edible flowers used by some of D.C.'s fanciest restaurants; I learned that chef John Spero of Reverie introduced Adams to Pierce, Fresh Impact came online in early 2018, and its consistent, local supply provided access to delicate foraged-style ingredients that Bourbon Steak and other high-end kitchens previously relied on from distant (and pricier) sources." - Tierney Plumb

9/16/20 UPDATE Fresh Impact is a local business that clearly cares about its products and its customers. After reporting trouble with my orders, Ryan reached out and fixed the problem quickly and completely. Along with today’s spicy sprouts mix and other goodies, I got gorgeous salad greens. And I used some of my edible flowers to make a lovely dinner salad! Buy local and fresh!

I started eating these greens at the beginning of COVID because I believe in supporting small businesses, especially during these extremely difficult times. Honestly, I was happy with my “grocery store greens,” but I was trying to do my part. Well...WOW. I had NO idea what I was missing. The greens from Fresh Impact are far superior to any greens I have ever had in my home before, let alone in most restaurants. I joke that we will never be able to go back. When the CSA began, I introduced Fresh Impact to a number of friends who are equally impressed. I have to add that not only is the quality of the produce amazing, but the people who work there are equally as impressive. I have been treated with kindness, respect and flexibility every single time I’ve interacted with anyone at Fresh Impact. It is clear that they have a customer-care culture at their business and it shows. I HIGHLY recommend the CSA—amazing greens delivered to your door, what more could you want?! Everything is amazing, but the Impact Mix will change your salad game forever :)

We are so grateful that Impact Farms is a part of our lives! Our children comment on how delicious the greens are compared to boxed store greens and my parents comment on how it reminds them of the fresh greens right out of their gardens in Maine. The added extras (sweet corn sprouts and succulents) have created an element of surprise every week and we’re always so excited to try something new. I’m surprised a reviewer stated that their greens were soggy- the packaging is always spot on and the greens are more than fresh- it’s like we’re picking them as we eat them!

Best salad and micro-greens on the planet! And excellent customer service too. I think they started out providing micro-greens to fancy restaurants and pivoted to CSAs and direct-to-consumer sales when the pandemic hit. It means the quality is high and we regular people get access to rare and unusual herbs. I thought they seemed a little pricy at first but their stuff is always high quality and it stays fresh forever, unlike Whole Foods salads and sprouts which I often end up throwing out after a few days. They are also just really nice people! Highly recommend.

Couldn’t talk about how amazing Fresh Impact is and their products. We continuously enjoy the safe, healthy, and nutritious offerings they’ve made through the community supported agriculture. So glad that we have access to Fresh Impact; everyone should try out their products you won’t be disappointed.

Incredibly fresh products, excellent service that you can only get from a small local business, and wide selection of exciting crops. My family was incredible impressed with their salad mix that I brought home for the holidays.
