The 36 Best Restaurants In Chinatown - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Grilled meat, hot pot, and BYOB are already appealing concepts, and Friend’s BBQ packages all of them together in a fun space with cartoon wallpaper and an upbeat pop soundtrack. Most of the food here follows the Skewer System™. Proteins and vegetables all come on sticks and are either grilled and seasoned with a delicious spicy blend of cumin and Sichuan peppercorn, or served raw to be cooked in a boiling pot of broth. All orders are placed on a tablet to ensure a speedy kitchen-to-table pipeline, which is especially handy after realizing that one order of lamb skewers or chicken hearts isn’t enough." - adrian kane, john ringor

The Best Hot Pot Restaurants In Chicago - Chicago - The Infatuation

"It’s been scientifically proven that things on a stick taste better, but the hot pot at Friend BBQ in Chinatown would be great even without the skewer. This small spot in Chinatown has a long menu of various items like fatty beef, lamb, and tendon that you order by the piece, then dunk into a vat of boiling broth. It’s reasonably priced enough that you can try lots of different pieces, and they stay open till 2am." - adrian kane, john ringor

Chicago’s best Chinese hot pot restaurants | Eater Chicago

"Skewers of delectable meats, seafood, and veggies are the specialty of this barbecue joint from New York. But similar to traditional hot pot, diners also have the choice of ordering broth to cook their ingredients in. The skewered bites include beef tripe, shrimp, quail egg, fish balls, fried bean curds, and more. Online orders can be placed here." - Jeffy Mai

This is a mom and pop restaurant with authentic cuisine. Loved fast the food came out and the imported drinks. Server was an old man who was very nice to us

Quick in and out, but really good grilled meats. Beef w/fat, pork belly, squid, and xinjiang special lamb were all really tasty with a perfect amount of heat.

It was okay - the lamb skewers good, the chicken wings had a dry rub which was extremely over seasoned and too hot for my liking, the fried rice was okay and the fried noodles were also hot with jalapeño peppers. The atmosphere was nice and well maintained. It was self order from a tablet, disposable utensils, plates, etc. Price was a little over priced, but expected given location.

Fatty lamb skewers were our favorite dish. Tofu skin and fried rice cakes were also good. The grilled bread was a little dry. We didn’t like the corn cheese. Overall we would come back again for the lamb skewers!

Located at the corner of 24th Place and Wentworth. Small but cozy joint. The skewers were flavorful. The clams were spicy and yummy. The grilled oysters were okay and did not taste fresh the time that I was there. No alcohol but they are BYOB. I would go back again.

First thing you notice is the cute wallpaper and music like it's a dance club. Everything was great, fried rice cakes were the highlight. Staff were fast and friendly.

This was my first time ordering, the chicken dish we ordered was literally bones 🦴. The service was not good, felt unwelcome. The food was not that good tho, flavor was definitely there but for over $40 definitely not worth it.

A waste of one star. Arguably the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to. They serve you little pieces of meat that you would serve to a baby that just started eating solids. No customer service, me and my two brothers couldn’t have gone to a worse place.
