Fromagerie Quatrehomme - Review - 7th Arr. - Paris - The Infatuation

"Quatrehomme is a family-run institution: Marie Quatrehomme became France’s first female Meilleur Ouvrier de France (best craftsperson in France) in 2000. Today, her children carry the torch. There are a handful of cheese shops throughout Paris, but the flagship in the 7th is our go-to thanks to its open-plan layout, which allows you to linger over slabs of nutty Comté or wedges of rare Bleu de Termignon before feeling the pressure to buy. Behind the glass counter lining the back of the shop, you’ll find house specialties like a pumpkin-colored smoked goat cheese crottin or a Camembert topped with all manner of dried fruit, nuts, and even a touch of chocolate." - Emily Monaco

Any cheese lover will find their eden at this store. Not only because of the huge selection of cheeses available which, for someone not French, might feel overwhelming. But also and especially for the staff, who made an effort to make themselves understood with someone who speaks very little French as myself. The lady who helped me made me try different cheeses too, which I appreciated, instead of only buying them intuitively-blindly. The place is pricey, that is true. Yet I am very happy to have treated myself in investing here and can’t wait to be back and try all the cheeses I got. Thank you for the great help and kindness.

Very nice fromagerie. Staff is very friendly and recommended cheeses for us. The shop also cut a smaller portion for us for tasting.

I had a wonderful experience at this beautiful cheese shop. I was helped by Mr. Gaël, who was incredibly attentive, helpful, and gave excellent advice. His English was excellent, which made the whole experience even easier and more enjoyable. The selection of cheeses was just perfect, and the wine was outstanding. Highly recommended!

On our way home to Stockholm, we stood by the shop - and I just followed the recommendations of the staff. The cheese I got home is so very perfect!!! Definitely, we'll be back whenever we are back to Paris!

You can't go wrong, very high end cheese and true craftsmanship. Recommends any of the truffle creations if you like that sort of thing. All the other cheeses are fabulous too.. The staff is very friendly and ready to help.

Google
This place has a great selection of cheeses, meats, and other delicious choices to go with your dinner plans. The staff are friendly and helpful. We had a real nice woman help us, and she detected we spoke Spanish and changed from French to Spanish. She had lived in Argentina for a couple of years. She didn't have to do that, but it shows how great the service is here. When she wasn't there on the other days we visited, the staff continue to do their best to help us. They even print a ticket with the names of the cheeses you buy. Our favorite was the Alps cheese and the truffle creamy cheese.

Yelp
Fancy cheese shop. Didn't really help me pick the cheese but did do well to help me pick a salami to go with the randomish cheese I picked. I think I like laurent Dubois better with the littler displays of their cheese rather than just behind the counter here. But seemed to be decent prices?

Yelp
Probably one of the best cheese stores in Paris. They usually have someone who speaks English in the store and they take great care to only sell the very best cheese and also give you the one that will be ripe for the time that you are going to be eating it. Always friendly and helpful service. And their selection can't be beat. The will also vacuum pack any cheeses that you want to take back home.

Yelp
This is the best spot for a large assortment of cheese to take home. The are very kind and extremely helpful. Spoke English and helped me pick out just the right cheeses to take home. They will even vacuum seal them and label them so there are no issues getting through customs. Brought lots of cheese back to the US.

Yelp
Five-star as soon as you walk into this store and take your first breath!! This is cheesemonger heaven! The beautiful store was opened in 1953. They sell specialty and unique cheeses. They also have speciality gourmet food items. The people who work here are very patient and kind. Tuesday-Saturday 09:00-19:45. Run...don't walk!! www.quatrehomme.fr

Yelp
I know nothing about French cheeses, and my husband and son couldn't stand the smell of any French cheese shop so I went in alone and let the shop worker suggest 4 cheeses to try. We took the cheese along with some fruit and a bottle of wine (opened at the wine shop!) to the park and wow what an experience. I told them no stinky cheese but they managed to sneak some in there, I liked all except for the very stinky cheese, I kept trying it and trying it, it was so funny how repulsed my husband was by it. Overall it was great experience I hope to return someday to try more.

Yelp
I don't really know much about cheese, except that I love it. So walking into this place was a little overwhelming. It's busy, and most of the people seemed like locals who came in knowing what they wanted, walking fast and speaking the names of these beautiful cheeses with ease. I guess you could say it was a little intimidating. They have some cheeses on display, behind the counter on the shelves and also in a refrigerated case which included cheeses shaped like hearts and stars (kawaii). We ended up with the Comté, Brie, another soft cheese and an orange and spicy beurre (butter). All of which held up well in flight thanks to these vacuum sealed bags that one of the workers recommended for travel. Even in the bags though, they still had some smell, so we wrapped them in another 3-4 plastic bags. But I can imagine the smell being 10x stronger without the vacuum sealed bag! What gives this place 5 stars is that it's SUPER close to La Grande Epicerie de Paris. So, grab your cheeses and wine, then head to the epicerie for baguettes, fruits, anything else, and have the most delicious Parisian picnic!

Yelp
No english review here? That's a shame. Perhaps the French will scorn me for sending a throng of Americans to this gem, but let them. Most Americans will be overwhelmed by the sheer selection of cheese, but don't worry, you're in good hands at Quatrehomme. Leave yourself to their whims and you will end up with a cheese platter that puts anything that you can in the US (even New York) to absolute shame. Brin d'amour, Epoisse, St. Marcellin, tomme de savoie, it's almost impossible to find a cheese that isn't lovingly selected, fresh, and delicious. It's a bit out of the way, it's a bit expensive, but highly worth it. Explore and find a realm of cheese that you will never again want to leave.

Yelp
Fantastique! And I say this having worked at a cheese shop before. The staff are incredibly friendly, especially to English speakers who can pretty much otherwise only point at the cheese. I got the Saint Nicolas, an excellent raw milk's goat cheese, reminiscent of cheesecake almost. They have an incredible offering of soft to hard cheeses, as well as different types of ricotta, marscarpone, cream, etc. If I lived in the area (which I sadly really don't), this would be my go to fromagerie, hands-down.

Yelp
There is no shortage of great cheese in Paris. There may be a shortage of high end fromageries willing to be nice to American tourists. Fortunately, Fromageries Quattehomme makes it really easy to enjoy the best cheese France has to offer. I admit that it is not exactly in the middle of a tourist zone, but the service was excellent, there is a great wine shop nearby and we walked to the Eiffel Tour afterwards for a picnic. The staff was friendly, made good recommendations and had fun cheese accessories. If you need a cheese ship, this should be it.

Yelp
The best frommagerie in Paris, period! They have things found nowhere else, like a Roquefort mixed with gerwustraminer wine in a little glass jar. It's divine! And they're friendly to Americans, have an incredible selection and they're beyond knowledgeable.

Yelp
Delightful experience here today. The staff was so friendly and we luckily had a staff member that spoke english. He helped us figure out what we wanted since there were sooooo many choices. They let us try everything and have as little or as much as we wanted. They also helped us pick out meat and wine. Was an awesome experience and we will definitely go back!

Yelp
Neither hostile nor friendly to anglophones, so suss out your choices and stay out of the way until you're ready, as they are BUSY. However, the selection is fantastic and you will leave with cheeses you've dreamed about!

Yelp
Outstanding cheese shop with very helpful staff. I only wish they shipped these wonderful cheeses and sausages.
