Fu Fu Dim Sum and Hot Pot

I’m surprised this place has such low ratings. Their dimsum was great and so were their servers. I’ve tried a good number of dimsum places in the Greater Houston area and this place is probably top 2. The dumpling skin was thin and soft but still able to hold its shape well. The rice noodle rolls were also very soft with a little bit of chew. The siumai was super juicy. The chicken feet were soft and the black bean sauce tasted just right. Our servers were very attentive, they made sure we got the correct orders and our teas were refilled. I wish they reorganized the waiting area so the chairs were more accessible. Would be nice to have a system to be waitlisted and get a call/text for an open table. Also parking lot needed some work.

I really wanted to like this place. It took over Q Mama’s and inside it is spacious with high ceilings. We came for Sunday dim sum around 11:30am. The good: nice picture menus, good milk tea with boba, fast seating and service. The bad: food was about as mediocre as it gets. What we ordered Har Gow - 0/10 - shrimp was fishy and sour tasting, inedible Baked char siu bao - 7/10, tasted good but not enough filling Shu mai - 8/10 - prob the best of what we had, plump and tasted fine Eggplant stuffed with shrimp -3/10. Eggplant was mushy texture Tripe - 7/10 - friend said it was good Crispy shrimp balls 7/10 - oily but at least the shrimp tasted good Gai lan (veg) - old and overcooked, mushy texture 2/10 Banh bot Chien - 0/10. Oily, overcooked, soggy, tasted old. Not edible. Cheung fun with you tiao/shrimp - 3/10. Looked promising but the you tiao was too dense and oily/ kind of old tasting. The server asked us how the food was and I told her honestly that the har gow was inedible. I showed her my plate of mostly uneaten food and th har gow that I spit out. I told her I wasn’t complaining and just wanted to let her know. She ended up telling the manager who took it off our bill. I didn’t mention the gai lan and banh bot chien. The har gow was the biggest disappointment because it’s the first thing everyone tries at a dim sum place and for it to be THAT bad, they needed to know. I appreciated the gesture of manager who took the inedible har Gow off the menu. They seem to want to please. Hopefully it was an off day, but I’m not in a super hurry to return. There was a 35 min wait when we left at 1pm. There is much better dim sum in Houston, but unfortunately what I had today was not it.

Food is good though a little pricey. Dim Sum was good We had a table of nine and ordered over 20 dishes and each person was only $19 including tax and tips. There is plenty of parking but it was quite full due to other restaurants and two supermarkets nearby.

We were very excited about the new location. Loved the old one, but this one is much closer to my house. The new place is spacious. Very bright and welcoming. You can tell they are still getting things together. There are plenty of huge tables with lazy Susans on them for large groups. There were about 5 tables with people at them, and they were all next to each other. With all the empty space they could have spread us out a little. The one table that had a baby and a small child moved to the far left side, away from people. We never once heard the baby cry. We were not offered the Dim Sum menu. We were given a regular dinner menu. There was a variety to choose from. We ordered the Fried Eggrolls, Eggplant, Green Beans with black beans and Pork, Salt and Pepper Squid and the Scallion Pancake. The Eggrolls were very good. The dipping sauce was very thick. Kind of like the “duck sauce” you often get with a to-go order. It could have been a bit more… The Eggplant was under-cooked but extremely flavorful. The dark sauce was amazing. I really enjoyed dipping the pancake in it. The Green Beans were fantastic. A good amount of pork and black beans. The Scallion Pancake was very thick and greasy. The Salt and Pepper Squid was not very good. It was greasy and very, very chewy. Very little “salt and Pepper”. The Iced Tea was excellent! We will be back at a busier time when hopefully we can get Dim Sum. NOT THE RESTAURANTS FAULT: The parking lot is terrible. Lots of deep ruts and poorly planned and spaced parking.

Ok hear me out. I’ve been looking for some dim sum places in Houston and I find a lot of these overhyped places overrated. My go to for dim sum is no longer avail so I had to go on another hunt for dim sum and thankfully I found fufu cafe! Their dim sum actually tastes good. We ordered several dishes and they were solid. I would definitely come back again. The dining room is pretty spacious and service was okay nothing crazy spectacular as expected. But I’m def coming here for the food

Fufu Dim Sum and Hot Pot gets 3 stars. Service was painfully slow, dragging down the experience. Dishes sounded promising but lacked execution, flavors were off. Decent ambiance, but needs serious improvement in speed and culinary finesse.

Went there for the first time with my Family. The place used to be Mama Seafood restaurant. Nice renovation from previous place. The atmosphere was very nice. We ate dim sum. The food was good and hot from the kitchen. The only thing is the service. The waitress and the server need to smile more and need to act like they bat least wants to be there. Besides that, the experience is good.

Traditional food dim sum restaurant. The price is a little bit more than the older dim sum restaurants. You order off a paper menus, the staff takes the menu to the kitchen, and a few minutes later, you start getting your food. Good tasting food. This place is busy on the weekends. The restaurant is full of Asian families so you know the food is good.

For those who remember Q Mama (the restaurant before this one), not much has changed. Decent food, but HORRENDOUS service. Expect to grab utensils/napkins yourself, long delays, expressionless interactions, and missing orders. It's chaotic and sad to see. The table next to us even complained that we got our food first even though they sat first. We came here when they were still under construction. Lots of unfinished walls, exposed wires in ceilings, and construction material laying around. Parking lot was a disarray. They have lines now, but beware of giant pot holes or parking areas that you can end up being trapped in by other cars. I don't recommend this place. The fu fu name has a popular reputation, but I don't know if it's the same people as the restaurant or cafe.

Oh no. I really had high hope for FuFu Dim Sum & Hot Pot restaurant. It opened in the Summer of 2024. The soft opening sign still up in November. They had enough chance to improve but not really. I came here early November with a group of Caucasians aka white people. I was the only Asian in the group but with the way I sat, the wait staff won't be able to see my face. We sat at the corner table by the restroom entrance. The dining area was huge. We got there about the end of lunch rush. But there were still quite of bit of customers. I know the employees were tired. Because it was obvious. I have no complaints about the food but the service had perfect reflection of Alief side of Asiatown. Yeah, that bad. I had to hunt down a waiter to give us water. I carried our water jug and walked to their serving station "begging" for water. That was ridiculous. Because we waved at the waitstaff numerous times, no one care to give us water. I even asked the food server for scissors to cut open the dumplings. She looked at me like I was a foreigner, or she didn't understand English. Next time, I'll speak Spanish. As I was told, both FuFu Cafe and FuFu Restaurant were closing as of November 15, 2024. They are moving everything to this location. I saw construction at the front of restaurant. Not sure what it would be. After this awful experience, I would stay away from this restaurant for a while until they figure out what they want to do.

The new space is modern and spacious, and it's a great upgrade from their old spot. The ambiance is bright, clean, and comfortable, with lots of seating options. As for the dim sum, there were some standout dishes, but others didn't quite hit the mark. I'd be willing to give it another try, but for now, I think I'll stick to other dim sum spots in the area.

Right now they are still soft opening mode but the main dining room is big and clean, the thing they are still working on is the vestibule so it may look like they're not open but they are indeed open for service. When you come in, do let the service know if you want hot pot or not so they can seat you at the right section. We came here for the hot pot but the soup base for both regular and spicy were very disappointing. The amount of meat and vegetable they gave you for the price you paid is good by the soup base is not good at all. I would come back here for the all day dim sum and the regular food, I would skip the hot pot for now The service is good but out hot pot meat came out slow they bring out all the vegetable and then the meat come out like 5 minutes after. I love the new location for FuFu restaurant.

Too many customers. Too crowded Food are delicious but poor service my tea is not hot.

The food was pretty underwhelming. Most of the dishes didn't really hit the mark for me flavor-wise, but at least everything came out hot, which I appreciated. The one standout was the baked salted lava bun--it was actually really good. Service was fast, thanks to the order sheet system, but the restaurant still feels like it's in setup mode. The place looked a bit messy, which didn't help the overall experience. Overall a score of 5.5/10

The menu had everything a traditional dim sum place would have. Wasn't the best but not the worst. I went on a non busy hour. Maybe will try again after the grand opening to see if this place improves.

Good food. Slight salty. Service is a little poor compared to the other dim sum restaurants around. This place is loud since construction is still going on and a/c was weak when I went Hope they get the Knick knacks sorted out.

I recently dined at Fu Fun Dim Sum, and it was an excellent experience overall. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared with great care. The variety of dim sum options was impressive, with classic favorites like dumplings and buns, all perfectly cooked. While I found some dishes to be a bit on the salty side for my taste, the overall quality of the food was top-notch. What really elevated the meal was the tea, which complemented the dishes beautifully. It balanced the flavors and enhanced the entire dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, making it a great spot for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. If you're a fan of dim sum, Fu Fun Dim Sum is definitely worth a visit!

My family of 4 came here to eat around lunch time on a Sunday. We got here and stood for 5 minutes and nobody tried to seat us or even acknowledged us. I understand that it was a bit busy but at least someone can ask us to wait a little bit until they can get to us. I had to go ask them if we seat ourself or have to wait to be seated. Finally we sat down and ordered our food, drinks were missing. Food came out at a decent time except for our stir fry soy sauce noodle. I had ask one of the server to go check on my order and I watched her walk away to go do something else EXCEPT for checking on my order. The noodle didn't come out until we were about to leave. We got the bill and was charged extra for a hot tea. We ordered 1 and was charged for 2!!! SO CHECK YOUR BILL IF YOU DECIDE TO DINE HERE. I asked one of the server why were we charged extra? She said "I didn't put this order in so i don't know" "OKAY... so what are you gonna do about this?" The server said "well it's only $1.50, you want me to take it off or what?" So at this point I'm already furious! Not to mention the tone of her voice is not professional. I told her "you know what... I'm just gonna take the tip off." Server : "Well you only tipped $5..." Me: "Yeah! CAUSE THE SERVICE SUCKS HERE, YALL ARE LUCKY I EVEN TIPPED ANYTHING!!" (Coming from someone who has been working in a restaurant industry for 15 years... that's why I even left a little tip because I know the server have to tip out to kitchen and bus boys) Also this place is a bit more expensive here than other dim sum place I've been to. I eat dimsum at least once a week with my family. This place is VERY UNORGANIZED and UNPROFESSIONAL. This is the second time I came here and both times I am disappointed. I have NEVER left a bad review in my life but I had to this time. We will not be coming back!!

So far this is the best place in town.. Service was ok.. They short staffs. Foods were good.. Very tasty. Recommend the salty eggs bun and congees.

Went to try new opener on 11/18/24. Dim Sum is horrible, plus service. Try somewhere else if you want Dim Sum !

We tried several Dim Sum dish here at their soft opening. They were one of the best tasting Dim Sum we've ever had in Houston areas. It is supposed to be fully open in Mid-November, 2024. We will definitely be back for more of the Dim Sum and the hot pot. The customer service/watiers and waitress were very attentive. We highly recommend.

Nice size portions, fresh and flavorful, better than most dim sum around H-Town. Construction at the entrance, we almost didn't do in, but glad we did. Will def be back.

Tried this restaurant for lunch with my cousin. Food came out fast and hot! The service was awesome usually some dim sum places I never get tea refilled so quick. Highly recommend their rice roll and siu mai. Didn't have any complaints about the dim sum or food we ordered. Will be back!

I went with some family that had already been here before when it was first opening, but their order took over an hour to arrive because the waiter/waitress forgot to submit the order to the kitchen(??) They wanted to give it another try, but this experience was not any better. We had ordered 11 or so items and more than an hour had passed, and we had not received majority of our dishes. It was to the point that tables that came in after us were already finishing their food and leaving. This led us to cancelling the rest of the items, leaving with barely-filled stomachs. Not only once, but twice, this had happened. For the food, I thought it was mediocre. Although it wasn't bad, there are better options out there. Definitely not worth the wait though.

The dimsum here is delicious. Of course service is a bit slow and unorganized hence the 4 stars. But I must say, most of the things I order were really tasty. So i do recommend the place. It's probably gonna be my go to for dimsum from now on instead of the other ones on Bellaire

The food here is the worsen in town. My family went there this weekend and we had the worsens experienced from food to services.The food came out like they just throw in a plate, it looks really sad that makes you don't even want to try. For the taste - we ordered like 12 items and I would say only 2 items are ok which is the chicken feet and the bake rolls with lava eggs. For the service- they never bring us our drinks, we have to chase them down couple of times, never ask us to refills our waters, one of the items we order 3 and only bring us 1, and the server even have a nerve to give us his realtor business card when he bring us our bill. Will spend our money some where else for better food and services next time.

Literally had to redownload Yelp due to how bad this place was, and I'm absolutely not picky. Let's start with service, 40 minutes in, still no water! Asked multiple times and was met with the rudest waitress ever, she literally just turned around and left? Same with another guy waiter. Then, 10 minutes later when food came out, our order was wrong. I literally saw another table return the dish and the waitress brings it straight to my table. Are you joking? Lastly, if anything the food was mediocre. I got the Rice Noodle w/Shrimp and Siu Mei dishes along with something else, not sure I just eat whatever my mom eats to be frank. Let's just say..the dishes were awfully sweet and felt overly greasy, really left a gross feeling in my mouth. Great way to top off the horrible experience!

Everything we ordered was on point. The siu mai, hả cảo, the taro turnovers and much more were delish. Service was better than decent.

The service wasn't just bad; it was non-existent. I was seated at 12:00 but didn't get to order until 12:15. Despite ordering 10 plates, by 12:55, only 2 had arrived. Frustrated, I went to the counter to cancel the rest of my order and pay, and not a single apology was offered for the abysmal service. I can't even comment on the food because the only dishes that showed up were steamed vegetables. I will never set foot in this place again.
