To the wives and girlfriends who are scoping out this place to see if they can handle the stay while the husband turns into an 8 year old boy for a few days - you’ll be fine, and you’ll love it too.
Truly a 5-star experience from the moment you drive in with the excellently manicured hedges and helpful staff.
Rooms are spacious and calming, beds are great, toilet, shower and bathrooms are immaculate.
Between the restaurants and the bar, the food and service was a solid 4/5. Kids will love the bar for its die cast model wall. Children can be admitted until 10pm there.
The most immediate choice you’ll be presented with when booking is whether your balcony faces Mt Fuji or the circuit and yes your husband will pick the circuit view. So even when the balcony doors are closed and sealed, the cars are still audible and will be on track from 9am till 5pm. With the doors closed it’s quiet enough to have a nap, but if you need absolute silence in this serene part of Oyama you will need to pick the Fuji view, which is beautiful. If you’ve made this choice, the husbands can be pacified as a stay at the hotel offers a free circuit entry pass (though there is nothing quite like watching the cars go through Panasonic from your hotel balcony).
Meanwhile the high tea and spa/pool/gym facilities are spacious and well equipped for some good TLC. Nothing comes across as being an afterthought here.
Breakfast is your typical 5-star spread with some Japanese choices.
The connected museum with 2 floors will also keep the casual viewer occupied for an hour, and the enthusiasts, a lifetime.
A highly unique touch at this hotel is the greasy scent in the lobby, a nod toward the motorsport theme that permeates the place.
