Fumo - Review - Chelsea - New York - The Infatuation

"In Chelsea, Fumo has a sixth location in New York. The casual Italian spot is a staple for splitting pizzas and pastas. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

Go to the New Omakase Restaurant Right When It Opens | Eater

"A small, newly opened Chelsea omakase that debuted a $65 menu for 12 pieces of fish plus two appetizers; an early visit found it solid, with standout bites like raw scallop, torched hamachi, and uni. The compact format (limited seating and no hood) minimizes timing issues common at new restaurants, and the initial low price and attentive service seem intended to generate buzz—though prices are likely to rise as the place gains traction." - Caleb Pershan

My husband, son and I had a lovely brunch here. We were fortunate to get a table open to the outdoors in perfect weather. My lobster roll was delicious, as was my husband's breakfast. I really enjoyed the Hugo spritz (X2) and my husband enjoyed the bottomless mimosas. Service was attentive and friendly. Would definitely return next time in NYC.

Tucked into the stylish rhythm of Chelsea, the new Fumo location is a refined yet inviting destination for anyone who appreciates exceptional food in a beautifully designed space. The restaurant retains its signature aesthetic; rough and amorphous white brick walls, lush green plants, gold accent metal details and glowing white globe lights; all combining to create an atmosphere that’s both relaxed and effortlessly sophisticated. But let’s talk about the star of the show: the food. Fumo’s menu continues to deliver hits, starting with their iconic brick oven pizzas. I keep coming back for the Vodka Sauce Pizza, creamy and rich, especially with added grilled chicken. The Roni Pizza is a meat lover’s dream, and the Fumo Burger is stacked, juicy, and satisfying. And don’t overlook their pastas; every dish is thoughtfully prepared and deeply comforting. If you’re starting with appetizers, you can not miss the Spicy Calamari; perfect texture , perfectly seasoned, and with just the right kick. But the true standout for me was their Tuna Tartare on the special menu; served on a bed of cucumber, with avocado, and red pepper, with a gentle heat that elevates every bite. It’s refreshing, vibrant, and absolutely addictive. What makes Fumo Chelsea even more special is the warmth of the experience. The owners greet every guest like family; true to Italian hospitality and it shows in the energy of the space. And of course, the cocktails. Their happy hour is a must, especially for fans of the Fumo Aperol Spritz. They also serve a fantastic wine selection and several original cocktails; don’t leave without trying the Lorenzo’s Aperol Spritz, Lorenzo’s Gin & Atonic, or the romantic Lorenzo’s Love Spritz. Whether you’re a New Yorker or just passing through, make sure Fumo Chelsea or any of their other locations is on your list. Come for the food, stay for the vibe, and leave with a new favorite spot. Your taste buds will thank you.

I had such a great time at this place. The food was amazing, with Italian dishes full of flavor and really well prepared. The service was excellent everyone was super friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. I also loved the drinks , creative, unique, and really tasty, you can tell they put effort into them. The atmosphere was another highlight, cozy, fun, and with a great vibe perfect to relax and enjoy. The location is also spot on, easy to find and right in a lively area. I’d definitely come back without a doubt and totally recommend it 100%!

Food is amazing. They have pastas for $12 from 11am-4pm Mon-Friday and on Sundays it’s $12 ALL DAY! Sundays are actually the best time to go! The presentation of food is amazing, pasta is always cooked to perfection, Aldente just how I like it, my favorite pasta is the “spaghetti vongole” - it comes with a ton of clams! 😋 Portions are big!! You can dine alone or come with friends, or a date lol. The music is great, it definitely sets the vibe! Most Italian restaurants don’t play hip hop and Afro beats and r&b but they do! It’s such a vibe, haven’t had the drinks but I saw someone having Mimosas and I want to try that next time and it’s bottomless so why not. The desert is yummy too, fruits are fresh and again the presentation is perfect for photos, vlogging, tik tok etc!! If you love pasta this is definitely a place you must give a visit! My favorite location is the Chelsea one!!

Good food, great atmosphere and service. The baked clams were just a little too oily and made me nauseous. I'm used to the base being more of a savory broth.

Had delivered on two occasions and never again. Ordered spaghetti ($22) with one request: "Please put enough sauce on it!" It's even on the receipt. Instead, I got a pile of noodles with virtually NO sauce on it at all. And to be clear - there was NO sauce under the noodles either. Grrrr. They clearly do not care. Ordered a side of garlic bread ($7). See accompanying pictures. Enough said. Will never order from them again.

My favorite spot in Chelsea area! Such a relaxing atmosphere, amaizing italian-inspired menu (my favorite is spicy calamari!) and great coctails. Got a perfectly made espresso martini there👌

Google
Me and a friend walked in on a Saturday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised that they had ample seating. The service was great, the food was delicious. I got the chicken and waffles, my friend got the breakfast carbonara and we shared truffle fries. The servings were very generous! I would like to try their other menus in the near future.

Yelp
Best service of all time. Friendly staff, great food and overall a vibe. My server was so great I stop in and say hi when I walk by. We've also had their salad delivered everyday for lunch this week.

Yelp
There hasn't been a Fumo I met that wasnt good. This has become my favorite restaurant establishment. The delicious Italian food, the great service, subtle atmosphere and reasonably priced. Also shoutout to the banging playlist- they playing 90s/early 2000s RnB hits. The food did not disappoint. Went with the margherita pizza and steak & fries. Perfectly cooked and speedy service. Their brick oven pizza is so light and leaves limited guilt. On Sunday they also have an amazing 12 dollar pasta special. The only headache was looking for someone to get my bill. Happy Fumo is expanding to various neighborhoods.

Yelp
I enjoyed their kale caesar salad. Nothing too special, but it was fresh and light. I loved the penne funghi. It was a generous portion size. The penne was served al dente and the sauce was rich, creamy, and flavorful, with an ample serving of mushrooms. Prices were very reasonable for lunch.

Yelp
Came for the lunch special...stayed for the vibe! I ordered the spaghetti vongole and it was incredible! Service was pleasant and speedy. The music was the perfect volume and perfect selection; think old school r&b (Monica and Guniwine)...I was body rolling and chewing throughout my meal. I will absolutely be back...soon!

Yelp
Walked in here on a weekday for an early dinner, service was great, ambiance is welcoming. The pasta was great. I got the rigatoni bolognese and thought the portion size was reasonable. However, the tiramisu was very unpleasant, not sure if i came on a bad day.

Yelp
I work in a clinic nearby and often come here to get lunch special pasta. I have tried different dishes and so far, everything is delicious! The staff are always very friendly and professional. I'll be back again and am already planning a dinner here with my friends!

Yelp
Excellent spot for lunch. Reasonably priced, impeccable service. I will definitely return again soon.

Yelp
What a pleasurable experience! The most NY Italian menu that's more than a pizza/ pasta bar. Such a well thought out menu & execution. Ate: Baked clams 3 Cauliflower bread Arugula salad Branzino with spinach Penn with mushrooms Total: $106 with cash discount The baked clams were incredible and the idea of cauliflower bread was great & well executed. Salad was very good as was branzino and the mushroom penne was so rich & flavorfu. Unpretentious and a fair price point. This Chelsea girl loved it.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone with allergies. I specifically told them I was allergic to garlic and onions and my dish came with huge pieces of onion. Aside from that, this restaurant was fine - nothing groundbreaking.

Yelp
The pricing reflects the experience delivered. This place serves impeccable food consistently. Their workers maintain outstanding care with perfect timing. You should visit with your social circle. This restaurant delivers a special moment.

Yelp
Ordered fruit bowl for brunch. Excellent fresh cut fruit, not the usual canned fruit. $14. Corner location with nine foot windows on two sides. Attentive staff. Fresh bread with olive oil. Excellente!

Yelp
Good food, good service, a great restaurant for a last minute reservation or having a larger group.

Yelp
What a great spot! Came here with a larger group but the service was still spectacular. Waters consistently filled, all food came out correctly, and the servers and hosts were some of the friendliest people! The vibe in here is also great, music is a little on the loud side but it didn't ruin the experience. Portions are huge! The 12 dollar pasta on Sunday seemed too good to be true, I expected a small amount of pasta but wow! I couldn't even finish there was so much! The spicy calamari is a must try - and I'm saying this as someone who normally isn't the biggest fan of calamari. The meatballs and fried mozzarella were also delicious. Highly recommend checking this place out and I'm excited to come back!

Yelp
New Italian player on the scene in Chelsea here. I'm glad this new restaurant opened up in this place. This has a special meaning to me over the years. ( except for Temerarrio - which I didn't care for ) but anyway I went to Fumo for lunch and noticed they had spaghetti vongole. Which I ordered. And it was perfect. Perfect amount of pasta, perfect amount of clams, I did order their glass of Sancerre but I sent it back and had a Chardonnay. All in all I'm a fan. I heard from Chris the bartender that they have $12 pastas on Sundays. This is where I'll be

Yelp
Hosted a party here in their back room. The team at Fumo was extremely helpful leading up to the event. The day of the party, the servers were attentive and the food served family style was delicious and plentiful--with leftovers! Everyone was raving about it. Mille grazie Fumo!

Yelp
Solid neighborhood spot for good Italian in a relaxed atmosphere. It was pretty full so expect to lean into conversation. Service was great. Our server was patient with us and didn't rush us out after we lingered for a bit. Portions are very generous so easy to split. We shared the burrata, fungi pizza, and kale salad. All fresh and tasty.

Yelp
Unfortunately the food is not as good as at the original Harlem location. I got the broccoli & shrimp pasta dish which is my favorite and the sauce tastes totally different and too salty.

Yelp
Good food and good service and close to home. I ordered a weekday take-out $12.00 lunch special.

Yelp
Dear Yelp Readers, I am so thrilled Fumo has made it to my neighborhood. I am a former employee of Mr. Gallo and his partners. I stopped by Fumo Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, 3/9/2025 to take home a treat for my husband and I. I didn't get the name of the hostess, but she was lovely and kind. In case you have never visited a Fumo location you can expect a vibe, EXCELLENT FOOD, and amazing service. Not to mention a great mix of all types of people on staff and clientele. Everyone is welcome. If you like spicy, check out the spicy calamari. I could not decide which pasta I wanted to take home. The hostess suggested I get the bolognese as my husband's introduction to the pasta dishes from Fumo... AMAZING. I am also very happy to see the seats are filled every time I walk by Fumo Chelsea. Best of luck to the Fumo team. Welcome to the neighborhood. All the best, Manny and Pete C

Yelp
What an amazing time- my second one here! Luigi and staff go above and beyond! This restaurant has it all and more- food, service and ambiance! Luigi, especially, is so welcoming and goes above and beyond! Highly recommend this great establishment!

Yelp
I had quite a pleasant meal and glad we have this in Chelsea now. I loved the ambiance and staff, the place is very cute and has a decent menu. everyone around me seemed to be happy with their meals and all the cocktails seem great. I had their caprese panini with a cup of coffee and it was quite the treat. the caprese had just the right amount of pesto, and their bread was fresh with the right amount of crunch. it came with greens on the side which turned out to be a nice little salad and came at a great price. their coffee was surprisingly good. I will definitely go back. my only critique is that their happy hour menu is on an outside chalkboard only. having a hard copy inside would be nice, as I would've liked to try a happy hour cocktail as well. nevertheless, it was a satisfying meal in a cute and clean place. very happy I went, and will be returning.

Yelp
the food and atmosphere was immaculate but the service(waiter) sucke. I observed him continuously walk by me when I was trying to get his attention and at first thought nothing of it until I seen how he waited others(white group) sitting a table over. Explaining the menu to them etc... then was engaging in making sure they was receiving food drinks etc without question

Bill B.

Yelp
Food ok but they add a 3.9% surcharge if you pay with a credit card. Read the very fine print on the menu.
