Fumo Chelsea

Easily booked same day reservations for 7pm on Sunday evening. There was a good crowd there. Lots of couples, which makes sense because they definitely set the mood for romantic vibes only (don’t bring kids under 12). Mine is 13 and 6ft tall so she gets a pass. Our server started strong by offering water as soon as we sat down. However, he didnt quite get our order right. The spicy calamari is smothered in a spicy sauce. We simply asked for the that with the sauce on the side. Then we ordered a margherita pizza and the spaghetti shrimp fra diavolo he told us that costs the regular price of $28. I had to ask him why he was telling my daughter that and that’s when he told us about the Sunday night pasta special of $12 for all but two of the pastas which included the dish we asked for. I was not about to miss out on a deal and asked for more time. I ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese instead. He brought the pizza out, but I had to order the calamari again since he never put the order in the first time 🧐. Food review! The pizza was a bit lackluster, but had a good seasoned crust. The kid liked it although she didn’t finish it. 4/5 The calamari was fried well but also boring even though the spicy marinara on the side helped some, its a basic betty who needs some fried peppers or zucchini to liven the party! 3/5 The perfectly al dente $12 rigatoni bolognese saved the day in terms of flavor, I still was not blowed away! It definitely needed fresh Parmesan and red pepper flakes, which I had to ask for. Excuse me at an Italian restaurant, I should never! 4/5 I would be remiss not mention the one scoop each of vanilla and their mango sorbet. Both were very fresh and yummy and tasted homemade. 5/5 The bill came out to $62 for me and mini me. Not bad! Overall, for the price, atmosphere, and location I will return to find a dish that I could write home to mama about and if they’re good the next time maybe I will bring mama with me!

This was my second time eating at FUMO but the first at this location. This location is a little bit small (which makes sense for NYC), but felt like an intimate setting. Low lighting and the decor created the perfect ambiance. Came on a Sunday night without realizing they had $12 past dishes (which is a great steal!!). I got the penne vodka and my friend got the vegan pesto spaghetti. We really enjoyed both and the truffle fries were also great. Food came super quickly and wait staff attended to the table well, which was a plus. Would definitely come back to this location or would try one of the other locations!

Walked in on a Monday and waited less than 10 mins for a table for two. Food was delicious! Kirk recommended the buffalo pizza. Great server!! Space was a little tight.

9/28/25 second time here... Yeah i know i got lazy and missed my first visit... But it was not that long ago probably August? Both times the food was good and so was the service. We had the same waiter both times, he (K) was good and friendly. For this meal; The GF had Rigatoni Salsiccia (that what she has for her first time & loved it) and i had the Spaghetti Vongole. Both very good & Both visits were on a Sunday evening ($12 pasta special) and it was not too crowded but it's loud in there. Tables are really small, so having extra plates is a challenge. We will definitely be back.

For a long time I’ve been wanting to visit the newly opened Fumo in Chelsea, and I’ve got to admit—the Buffalo chicken pizza was OUTSTANDING. It was full of flavor without being too heavy. The crust is that perfect Neapolitan-style crunch that every pizza connoisseur is looking for thin, crispy, and exactly how pizza should be!!! Everything went down perfectly with a sip of a balanced Mezcal Negroni, which I highly recommend if you’re having this pizza, it’s an amazing pairing Thank you Predrag I will be back!

Too disappointed with the place. I ordered pasta carbonara and it looked like pasta with onions. The onions were undercooked; it seemed like the chef just took them, cut them as large as possible, and stuck them on the pasta. I wanted to try it for a while, but for a first time, it wasn’t what I expected.

I was visiting out of town, we chose Fumo as we wanted Italian food. Service was ok waiter was not suggestive, main course took too long, no extra bread was offered. Just not very interactive. No dessert menu was offered. No refill offered on water. Just poor service all around and food was ok. I still left a $21 dollar tip as the young lady who was helping did try to engage somewhat. Disappointing experience all around. I had them pack my food to go.

My husband, son and I had a lovely brunch here. We were fortunate to get a table open to the outdoors in perfect weather. My lobster roll was delicious, as was my husband's breakfast. I really enjoyed the Hugo spritz (X2) and my husband enjoyed the bottomless mimosas. Service was attentive and friendly. Would definitely return next time in NYC.

I was walking around Chelsea when I saw a sign for $12 pasta night (on Sundays and Mondays after 4pm) and I had to try it. The food was so delicious. The first night I tried the baked ziti and it was so good. It also was enormous so I took half home. The price was so Gigi's that I indulged in a glass of red wine. The service was amazing. The waiters were attentive, accommodating, and friendly.The food arrived quickly and was hot right out of the oven (or off the stove). The room is small and cost and reminded me of the small restaurants that I tried in Italy. The atmosphere was exciting with most of the tables filled but the sound of conversations was not overwhelming. The tables were close together but not so close that you felt like you were sitting in the lap of the person next to you. I went back the next night and had the penne vodka. So good!

Hubs and I knew we wanted to grab dinner before seeing his friend perform and we also knew we needed to stay close to The Joyce Theater across the street. So with zero reservations anywhere, we tried our luck at LouLou (the menu and vibe looked incredible), but no dice for walk-ins- same story at a couple of other spots. Then we spotted Fumo. Even from the outside, this place looked pumpin', so we took our chances. Sure enough, the manager worked some magic and slid us into a cozy corner nook. Gracias! The vibe is loud but not the chaotic, echo-in-the-room kind of loud. It's lively and social without being irritating. The high ceilings definitely help and give the room space. What softens the space, is the low-hanging bulb lighting fixtures with a soft amber glow turning the whole place nice and warm. Between the meal, the fun energy and the Amapiano music playing in the background, I was practically dancing in my seat. Or maybe it's just that hubs and I haven't been in the city since moving up to the boonies? Our server was smooth and focused. The cocktails, however read awesome on paper- but had no substance. The fried calamari starter was an absolute pile- in the best way. Each piece had a nicely seasoned dredge that gave it flavor even before the dip hit. My $27 Branzino was chunky and came with a generous helping of garlicky sautéed spinach. But the real star was the butter+lemon sauce. It wasn't just a squeeze of lemon and a pat of butter- the sauce was silky the kind that clings to the fish without drowning it. Hubs loved his chicken parm- but as a non-meat eater myself, I did notice the chicken looked pounded paper-thin- hubs enjoyed it though. Service is great- but the cocktails? Go for wine instead.

Always an exceptional experience at FUMO. Impeccable service, the food is fire, and the music curates the perfect vibe. The food is just dang good. Quality always. The rice balls were delicious and better than mozzz sticks. Steak frites superiority sooo good

What a great Italian spot in Chelsea!! Thankfully we got here on a day it wasn't too crowded and got the perfect corner booth seats. We started off with the fried mozz which was fried to perfection, the outside being so crispy and the cheese in the inside having the perfect texture and cheese pulls lol. For the mains we got pesto (vegan) & the rigatoni with chopped sausage. Both were great with plenty of flavor, not to mention the good portion sizes.

A lot of the past recommendations have landed on three basic assets of this place... Number one is the music... You walk in and u are met with a grounding vibe and it continues throughout your meal... music with a little funky beat on the backside... 2nd..the decor... Perfectly curated... And lastly, the service... I haven't been in as well. Serviced the restaurant in a long time... But of course, the jam beside the assets, which will always make it a good business is the food... From the olive oil, which is got a little sweet heat on the backside to the bread to the baked clams and all the pasta dishes along with the salad. It was a exquisite meal topped off with a complementary tiramisu dessert... Would recommend 16 days a week...

Such a great lunch deal here! $12 for pasta Monday through Friday 12-4pm I believe. I stopped by one Friday for lunch and tried the vegan pesto pasta. So fresh and delicious! Topped it off with some parmesan cheese too. Complimentary bread & olive oil is great too! Staff was great! Very friendly and attentive. The portion size was generous. I had a little leftover to take along with me. A great spot for groups and a date night. I'll be back soon Fumo!

Came for the lunch special...stayed for the vibe! I ordered the spaghetti vongole and it was incredible! Service was pleasant and speedy. The music was the perfect volume and perfect selection; think old school r&b (Monica and Guniwine)...I was body rolling and chewing throughout my meal. I will absolutely be back...soon!

There hasn't been a Fumo I met that wasnt good. This has become my favorite restaurant establishment. The delicious Italian food, the great service, subtle atmosphere and reasonably priced. Also shoutout to the banging playlist- they playing 90s/early 2000s RnB hits. The food did not disappoint. Went with the margherita pizza and steak & fries. Perfectly cooked and speedy service. Their brick oven pizza is so light and leaves limited guilt. On Sunday they also have an amazing 12 dollar pasta special. The only headache was looking for someone to get my bill. Happy Fumo is expanding to various neighborhoods.

What a pleasurable experience! The most NY Italian menu that's more than a pizza/ pasta bar. Such a well thought out menu & execution. Ate: Baked clams 3 Cauliflower bread Arugula salad Branzino with spinach Penn with mushrooms Total: $106 with cash discount The baked clams were incredible and the idea of cauliflower bread was great & well executed. Salad was very good as was branzino and the mushroom penne was so rich & flavorfu. Unpretentious and a fair price point. This Chelsea girl loved it.

My experience at Fumu Chelsea was extremely disappointing. My friend and I arrived around 6 PM and politely asked for a booth table. The hostess refused, saying someone had "reserved that exact table," even though the couple sitting there was clearly finishing up and leaving early. Instead of showing basic courtesy, she told us that if we sat somewhere else, we'd have to be done eating by 7 PM -- which already made us feel rushed and unwelcome. What made it worse was her sassy attitude and nasty tone throughout the entire interaction. She was visibly talking about us to her coworker, even pointing in our direction while smirking. When I finally said we'd just leave, she sarcastically said, "Have a blessed one," and then slammed the door behind us. It was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. We were genuinely excited to try this place, but the attitude, poor customer service, and lack of respect made it one of the worst dining experiences I've had in NYC. Im not sure if this is because we were young black woman. Definitely don't feel welcome This is why most of us stay in our communities and location we're familiar with . I've been to the Harlem location never experienced such a thing Fumu Chelsea seriously needs to train their staff better -- customers deserve kindness, not attitude

I enjoyed their kale caesar salad. Nothing too special, but it was fresh and light. I loved the penne funghi. It was a generous portion size. The penne was served al dente and the sauce was rich, creamy, and flavorful, with an ample serving of mushrooms. Prices were very reasonable for lunch.

Delicious menu, great service and a beautiful airy space. The staff took great care of us during a recent birthday dinner. Will definitely go back and recommend to others!

I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone with allergies. I specifically told them I was allergic to garlic and onions and my dish came with huge pieces of onion. Aside from that, this restaurant was fine - nothing groundbreaking.

This is - hands down - my new favorite place in Chelsea. Everything was delicious, the service was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was sunshine and happiness. I brought a friend for some quick bites for her birthday before seeing a show at The Joyce a block down the street. We shared the arancini, the spicy calamari and a deliciousl bowl of garlic spinach. It was both plenty to share and enough to take home. For drinks, my friend had a glass of rose and I enjoyed the Carolina (a mezcal crafted cocktail). It was all fabulous. We can't wait to go back again and again and again.

Walked in here on a weekday for an early dinner, service was great, ambiance is welcoming. The pasta was great. I got the rigatoni bolognese and thought the portion size was reasonable. However, the tiramisu was very unpleasant, not sure if i came on a bad day.

Service was good. However, the music was terrible it was loud early 2000s hiphop not fitting the cuisine or the restaurant. The food was fine but it came out within 5 mins of ordering and was pretty bland and weird it could come out all that fast. Overall for nyc Italian pretty unimpressive

New Italian player on the scene in Chelsea here. I'm glad this new restaurant opened up in this place. This has a special meaning to me over the years. ( except for Temerarrio - which I didn't care for ) but anyway I went to Fumo for lunch and noticed they had spaghetti vongole. Which I ordered. And it was perfect. Perfect amount of pasta, perfect amount of clams, I did order their glass of Sancerre but I sent it back and had a Chardonnay. All in all I'm a fan. Best service of all time. Friendly staff, great food and overall a vibe. My server was so great I stop in and say hi when I walk by. We've also had their salad delivered everyday for lunch this week.

What a great spot! Came here with a larger group but the service was still spectacular. Waters consistently filled, all food came out correctly, and the servers and hosts were some of the friendliest people! The vibe in here is also great, music is a little on the loud side but it didn't ruin the experience. Portions are huge! The 12 dollar pasta on Sunday seemed too good to be true, I expected a small amount of pasta but wow! I couldn't even finish there was so much! The spicy calamari is a must try - and I'm saying this as someone who normally isn't the biggest fan of calamari. The meatballs and fried mozzarella were also delicious. Highly recommend checking this place out and I'm excited to come back!

I work in a clinic nearby and often come here to get lunch special pasta. I have tried different dishes and so far, everything is delicious! The staff are always very friendly and professional. I'll be back again and am already planning a dinner here with my friends!

Wow! The food is great but I would like to actually see it after the sun goes down. The lighting in this place brings the concept of "dim" to a new level. It is so very dark in Fumo at night I have to wonder: what's the point? Even though the food is really great, I don't have a comfort level with the way this place is lighted during dinner hours.

Ordered fruit bowl for brunch. Excellent fresh cut fruit, not the usual canned fruit. $14. Corner location with nine foot windows on two sides. Attentive staff. Fresh bread with olive oil. Excellente!

Dear Yelp Readers, I am so thrilled Fumo has made it to my neighborhood. I am a former employee of Mr. Gallo and his partners. I stopped by Fumo Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, 3/9/2025 to take home a treat for my husband and I. I didn't get the name of the hostess, but she was lovely and kind. In case you have never visited a Fumo location you can expect a vibe, EXCELLENT FOOD, and amazing service. Not to mention a great mix of all types of people on staff and clientele. Everyone is welcome. If you like spicy, check out the spicy calamari. I could not decide which pasta I wanted to take home. The hostess suggested I get the bolognese as my husband's introduction to the pasta dishes from Fumo... AMAZING. I am also very happy to see the seats are filled every time I walk by Fumo Chelsea. Unfortunately the food is not as good as at the original Harlem location. I got the broccoli & shrimp pasta dish which is my favorite and the sauce tastes totally different and too salty.

I had quite a pleasant meal and glad we have this in Chelsea now. I loved the ambiance and staff, the place is very cute and has a decent menu. everyone around me seemed to be happy with their meals and all the cocktails seem great. I had their caprese panini with a cup of coffee and it was quite the treat. the caprese had just the right amount of pesto, and their bread was fresh with the right amount of crunch. it came with greens on the side which turned out to be a nice little salad and came at a great price. their coffee was surprisingly good. I will definitely go back. my only critique is that their happy hour menu is on an outside chalkboard only. having a hard copy inside would be nice, as I would've liked to try a happy hour cocktail as well. nevertheless, it was a satisfying meal in a cute and clean place. very happy I went, and will be returning.

Solid neighborhood spot for good Italian in a relaxed atmosphere. It was pretty full so expect to lean into conversation. Service was great. Our server was patient with us and didn't rush us out after we lingered for a bit. Portions are very generous so easy to split. We shared the burrata, fungi pizza, and kale salad. All fresh and tasty.

Hosted a party here in their back room. The team at Fumo was extremely helpful leading up to the event. The day of the party, the servers were attentive and the food served family style was delicious and plentiful--with leftovers! Everyone was raving about it. Mille grazie Fumo!

What an amazing time- my second one here! Luigi and staff go above and beyond! This restaurant has it all and more- food, service and ambiance! Luigi, especially, is so welcoming and goes above and beyond! Highly recommend this great establishment!

the food and atmosphere was immaculate but the service(waiter) sucke. I observed him continuously walk by me when I was trying to get his attention and at first thought nothing of it until I seen how he waited others(white group) sitting a table over. Explaining the menu to them etc... then was engaging in making sure they was receiving food drinks etc without question
