Unfussy Italian eatery offering pasta, pizza & meat dishes, plus weekend brunch, wine & cocktails.
"Overlooking City College’s stunning neo-Gothic campus, this Italian spot gives you a reason to visit basically every hour of the day. Sunny sidewalk lunches featuring wood-fired pizzas and solid pastas (the latter cost $12 from 11am to 4pm every weekday) segue into one of the best Happy Hours in the area, with snacks like meatballs and the red or white wine of the day both running only $6. Dinner here is a bit livelier: the lights go down, the music goes up, and the chicken parm will suddenly start calling your name. But if you want a quieter scene and half-priced bottles of wine, come on a Monday evening." - the curious uptowner, sonal shah
"Fumo is on a corner just across the street from City College, and it’s an attractive, white-walled space with marble countertops, lots of plants, and big bright photographs covering the walls. More importantly, they make solid versions of pretty much all your Italian classics. There’s also a pretty reasonable wine list, so it’s a great spot if you want to drink a little and vent about your job or some of the so-called friends who couldn’t make it." - team infatuation
"The neighborhood also gained an outpost of Fumo, a pizza and pasta chain, on Broadway between 107th and 108th streets." - Carla Vianna
