NM Noodle Review - Chinatown - Houston - The Infatuation

"The Chinatown ramen spot NM Noodle is home to some of our favorite ramen in the city. NM Noodle feels laid-back, with a few intricate light fixtures, spacious wooden booths, and a focus on ramen. Bowls of tonkotsu come zipping to the table as if there’s no place they would rather be. The best iteration of these are the hokkaido tsukemen, with a rich pork and fish broth, seasoned slices of bamboo, and soft-boiled egg. Sit in one of the wooden dividers, slurp unabashedly, and be sure to order the extra broth. And if you have a need for heat, the curry tonkotsu will clear away your worries and your sinuses. Add as much menma, sweet corn, or extra noodles that you want on the side, and remember that a little pain is worth the price of the ramen. " - Gianni Greene

Hand-pulled noodles are the headliner here, with bouncy biang-biang ribbons, beef noodle soup, and pan‑fried sliced noodles. It’s a casual, independent spot that’s broadened Albuquerque’s appetite for fresh‑made dough and dumplings.

Yelp
Food was delicious and loved the fresh noodles in the soup. Ordered the spicy beef soup and chicken tonkatsu along with steamed dumplings. Great flavor and fast service. Perfect meal after a long cross country drive! Will come back next time travel through ABQ

Yelp
The food was tasty and service was quick, but the menu was very limited. The dan dan noodles were actually a ramen, which is not what I was looking for (I prefer it without liquid). For that reason, I don't think I'd go back, as I'm looking for something with more options and a bit more reminiscent of prior experiences at Chinese restaurants. Service: quick, to the point Ambiance: relaxed, calm Got: Thai iced tea, green onion pancake, black garlic ramen, tofu with mixed vegetables

Yelp
It was our daughters birthday, she wanted to try. The service is lacking. The noodles were mushy. None of us finished our meal as the flavors were off. Iced tea was weak, sodas had too much carbonation. The only good thing was the beer. I don't recommend.

Yelp
We come here occasionally. The food and service are always amazing! The broth in the ramen is so savory. The ambience is always relaxing and not overwhelming. The traffic is usually steady but wouldn't be too loud at a given time compared to other ramen places in Albuquerque.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious and the only regret I have is not coming sooner! Been wanting to try this place for a while but we live in Rio Rancho so we don't always come to this side of town, but finally made our way and it was an 11/10!! Chill ambiance and even though it was a packed house on a Sunday afternoon the service was excellent! Little to no wait for appetizers and food. We got soup dumplings, potstickers, spicy wontons and waffle fries to start all amazing & fresh! Soup dumplings with the chili oil were life changing for me! If I lived closer I would legit come every day even just for appetizers! Our family of 5 spent $95 BUT it was a ton of food still with plenty of leftovers to take home and it was worth every penny to taste that quality fresh made food and not the processed cold food from a chain. Definitely our new favorite spot!

Yelp
The ambience was amazing not too loud and not too quiet. The staff shared all responsibilities in serving to which they didn't overcrowd with constant hovering along with also making sure we had everything we needed. So far the experience was off to a great start. Now they have a fella making fresh noodles which is reassurance that it's not packaged ramen. and you can even watch through the glass as to how this process is done. The food came out timely and the ramen was amazing!! It wasn't heavy and the noodles were to die for. The overall experience was pleasant which was very surprising. Will be a fave to come to.

Yelp
Super super yummy!!! Fun noodle has fast service, a nice menu with a good selection and variety of Asian food.

Yelp
Wow! Came in on a Sunday afternoon, and it was packed! I felt bad as a table of one in a fully seated restaurant, but they didn't seem to mind. It is a family friendly space, with many options of booths or tables. I ordered a beer, briefly looked over the menu and settled on trying something new- the spicy mala noodle with beef. Service was quick and friendly, I got my noodles shortly after my drink. The noodles were aromatic, and you can tell there was Szechuan chilis involved because of the numbing spice! Very flavorful and a great portion. I will be coming back to try more, definitely check it out and try for yourself!

Yelp
Nice people, cute little place. Very clean. Good tastes great just a little overpriced for the small amount you get.

Yelp
Fun Noodle Bar is finally back on my radar. They've changed their menu a few times since their opening. I fell in love with their DanDan Noodles because I have not found another place in town that has them on their menu. I returned on another occasion with some friends, and ordered them without looking at the menu, and, they weren't on the menu. I was devastated. Needless to say, I didn't return for quite a while. That is, until recently. I finally made it back and low and behold! DanDan Noodles were back on the menu. They were the last item on that page, but it's back! It's a hefty portion for prepare to be full! It's also a spicy dish, and even more so when you add sriracha. It does have peanuts so beware if you have an allergy. Only three stars because of the medaling with my heart, also known as my stomach.

Yelp
There are other restaurants around the city that should be considered. I won't be returning to this restaurant. The food was ok, nothing to gush about. I ordered a Hell Ramen soup bowl. You have a choice of beef, chicken, chashu pork, shrimp, vegetables, or combination for an extra $3. Things in the menu are somewhat overpriced. The service was cold, unwelcoming, and snotty, which also made the ambiance somewhat cold. The server only came by once to check on me. The server gave me my tab before I even finished my meal and without even asking if I wanted anything else. No one in the front of the restaurant said anything to me as I was leaving. They were just sitting and looking down at their phones. Oh well... the end.

Yelp
This place had very delicious food and friendly staff. The ambience was also amazing. I got the miso Ramen soup which tasted very delicious. The broth had excellent seasoning, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and everything else and it just made for a very delicious soup. In addition my family also got the tofu with veggies which also tasted great! The sauce is mixed in with a gave the tofu very nice flavor. The staff was also great. They made sure that all the orders tasted good and made sure that we Enjoyed our experience. I would definitely come here again!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Fun Noodle Bar for their pulled noodles and delicious looking broth. I got the beef noodle soup in spicy broth and spicy baby cucumber. I had high hopes for them, but were a little disappointed. The soup wasn't as flavorful as I expected. No rich beefy umami flavor. I added my own extra hot chili oil because I like my noodle dishes spicy. The cucumber dish was old and had turned translucent and mushy. Flavor was ok. The service consisted of taking my order, bringing my order and then my bill. No smile, no check in after my meal arrived. Nothing. No "thank you" or "come again" as I left. The door is right by where the staff hang out, so it's not like they didn't see me. The restaurant wasn't that busy either. Maybe about half full. I'll probably return if I get the chance because of the great reviews. Maybe I came on an off day.

Yelp
I came here with a group of friends. Cool place where you can watch them make the noodles you are eating. And the food was good too! I will come back again!

Yelp
We stopped in after dropping a bike off for repair. Nice modern interior, welcoming staff. My husband had chow mien and I had pork pot stickers (I wasn't very hungry). The chow mien did not come with rice, so we ordered some extra. The pot stickers weren't very well done, or warm. I ate one. The chow mien was very good. So mixed review. We will try again.

Yelp
Takoyaki is good. I will probably go back to try other stuff. Food is good and the place is clean.

Yelp
Always enjoy this place. The food is amazing and usually the service is good too Dim sum is amazing. Spicy beef appetizer is great. Try it with the hot oil. So many things to try. I watched the lady pull the noodles, it was great. Beef broccoli is good especially with fried rice

Anajaylinda L.

Yelp
Very good ramen, be careful with the chili oil on the table... it will show you no mercy.
google avatar

Kio C.

Yelp
Came here for ramen and it was good. The broth was delicious and we opted for the black garlic and the spicy one. However, this is not ramen noodles -- it's more like hand pulled noodles. They were very generous with the noodle portions. I was disappointed because I wanted thick egg wavy ramen noodles. Nevertheless, the toppings and broth were delicious. I also had the fried calamari and it was good as well.

Yelp
If I could give more stars I would!!! THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! Noodles were great ! And the BAO and soup dumplings were great !!! Nice inside and good prices! Will be coming back!

Yelp
Very good food, so yummy. I had the pad Thai and brown sugar milk tea. It came in a cute square cup with a little spoon. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Ordered crispy pan fried noodles with pork & egg rolls. The food was amazing...egg rolls best I have had! Noodle dish was soo good it was nice & saucy so the noodles weren't crunchy which I was happy with but not salty. Good balance of veggies, meat & noodles...it was slot of good.I will definitely order from there again.

Yelp
I cannot get enough of this place lately. I was recently traveling and I found myself thinking about these soup dumplings and couldn't wait to come home and order them. The service is prompt and the food is always fresh and pretty quick. The atmosphere is cool, there's a glass window where you can watch the chefs pulling and making the fresh noodles. Definitely one of my favorite places!
google avatar

Mai L.

Yelp
I called to put in an order for pick up and was told only 15 minutes. I decided to get the Tonkatsu Ramen. I asked for soup dumplings but I guess the lady that makes them was not working that day so they did not have any available. I got the shumai instead. Food was ready when I got there. It was a pretty busy place. The entrance was a little small. They were pretty busy for a Tuesday evening. I got back to my hotel and got ready to eat. The shumai came with a good dipping. Sauce. The ramen had good toppings like the pork and egg but the noodles were not good and that's what is most important. The noodles were more rice style noodles than egg/ramen type noodles
google avatar

Yelp
Very good. We ordered ramen, green onion pancake, pan fried bao and youpo noodles. The green onion pancake is a flour tortilla with green onions in it; looks like a folded tortilla not a pancake. Everything else was delicious. We had it delivered and service was prompt. We can't wait to try more items.
google avatar

Yelp
Super yummy ramen! My boyfriend had the black garlic ramen with pork and I had it with veggies. The broth had so much flavor and the noodles were the perfect texture!

Yelp
First time here trying their homemade hand pull noodles in house. The yelp photos looked food, so I ordered it to go. I had a 10 mins drive back to my hotel, but this is a mess with mushy noodles not like the one on the photos. I cannot even eat it so I just ate the beef in it! I also had the calamari which are just the rings but good price. The beef rolls are good. I will not order those noodles again.

Yelp
Hair in my Tofu with vegetables. Not even my hair color. Serious EEW factor. For the vegans, I found a piece of meat when I looked to see what else didn't belong. First time ordering food from this restaurant. I'm wary of trying them again. The hair was in my second bite. It was wrapped around some veggies and tofu so I didn't notice it until I felt something weird in my mouth. As I pulled it out I realized the hair had gone between 2 teeth. The photo shows the hair with food still attached. It got stretched as I removed it from my mouth.

Yelp
My friend and I went to Fun Noodle Bar while we were on vacation in the area. It was actually Thanksgiving and nothing was open - but Fun Noodle Bar was and it really came to the rescue! We ordered on the phone and came to pick up our order, but when we got there we asked if we could actually sit down and eat and they let us even though they were closing soon which was so nice! We got noodles that were hot and delicious once we added a lot of hot sauce to make it spicy! The portion was really big and we definitely had leftovers.

Yelp
I'm only sad that we did not find this place sooner. The kids and I loved it, everything was so delicious we highly recommended the black garlic Ramon, the orange chicken, steamed beef bao. Everything f had so much flavor, and the food came out very quickly. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Can't wait to come back again
google avatar

Erica A.

Yelp
Amazing. Loved it. They make their own noodles and the flavor is there. Reasonable priced too. We got the soup dumplings which everyone enjoyed and my daughter got wonton soup..good. My husband got the beef spicy noodle bowl. Everyone was satisfied.

Yelp
A friend and I have a kind of "eating tour" where we try out different restaurants and we are both ramen fans. So, we tried several around town. First, let me say the staff were kind and considerate, we were served fairly well, and the restaurant is clean and well maintained. They weren't busy, at all, and so we would expect the service they delivered The food, I had the black black garlic ramen, and the black garlic oil gave a good taste, the base broth was kind of weak. I know that a good tonkotsu takes around 24 hours, for that umami, which it lacked. I have sampled quite a bit of ramen, both in the city, and other places, so I've sampled authentic ramen. My dining friend agreed having the basic pork ramen. Also, the nori had an off taste, and I didn't stir it in. It's a a good restaurant, the staff is friendly, and the ramen is ok.. I'm a ramen snob. If this restaurant is the closest, and a a crave, is a good place for pop in, have a quick bowl and good service.

Yelp
Absolutely the best casual Asian place in Santa Fe. I always stop here when work sends me up from ABQ. Highly recommend the pad Thai and the steamed bao - pork. Nom nom.
google avatar

Marla G.

Yelp
Fun noodle bar is delicious I recommend the pork dumplings and potstickers they are amazing and best sellers at this restaurant! I also had the fried rice and orange chicken both where great. And the service was wonderful and attentive definitely give this place a visit!
google avatar

Debbie S.

Yelp
Steamed Bao Delicious! I also had the General Tao's which was nice and crispy and full of flavor. A hidden gem a few doors down from Honey Baked Ham on Menaul. Give it a try ! Yum !

Amantha F.

Yelp
Love this place!!! Homemade noodles. Great potstickers! Beef and broccoli was fabulous. Orange chicken was not too spicy, just perfect. Service was exemplary even though we came in late.
google avatar

Dominic T.

Yelp
First time trying this place and needless to say highly recommend this place. We had Steamed Bao, Crab Rangoons, and the Hell Ramen. Everything was flavorful and the price for everything for 2 people was surprisingly cheap. The Staff were really nice to us. If you want to get your Chinese fix go here because this place will leave you full!

Yelp
Visiting ABQ and craving for Japanese food. Was planning to go to Magokoro but it's closed (sign in door say staffing shortage) so I chose the closest Japanese restaurant. It's disappointing. The black garlic ramen is okay. I like the broth and the noodles but not the pork chashu. The shrimp and pork shaomai is very disappointing. It doesn't look the same as the picture. It's not even served in a bamboo steamer. They probably just copied picture somewhere. The picture shows 4 shaomai in bamboo steamer but they serve 6 small pieces in a plastic plate (menu say serve 5 pieces). There's only tiny bit of shrimp and no pork meat, just what looks and tastes like stuffing. I told the server it doesn't look like the shaomai in menu and it doesn't taste like shaomai. She talked to her boss and came back said, yeah it's not the same as picture but it's shaomai.

Yelp
I had been wanting to try this place for sooo long, but after picking up lunch to go today, I was very disappointed. First was kept waiting at the counter to place my order while the young lady watched another employee work in the ceiling, but even more disappointing was the food. I ordered the crisp noodles with chicken. Bland, bland, bland. After several bites trying all the veggies, noodles and chicken I just couldn't get past it. I will say the atmosphere inside seems nice.
google avatar

Ashley E.

Yelp
Holy moly! I am so glad the other place we attempted to go to was closed for dine-in option, otherwise we never would've discovered this gem. Not pictured are the amazing pan fried bao we had (which were phenomenal--like the best I've had in NM!!). The spicy tonkatsu ramen (#31) was what we both had and it was delish! I wouldn't say it's actually all that spicy, so if you're looking for heat, ask for sriracha. Otherwise it had really robust, umami flavor and I will absolutely return again soon. Service was good, food was great, will definitely be back and will definitely recommend to others!

Jesse H.

Yelp
This place has probably the best dan dan noodles and surely the best kung pao chicken in Abq at least from what i have had. Its always very clean inside, a little pricey but mostly worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
I had Covid this week so I have been at home recovering. During this time, I have craved soup. Thankfully, Fun Noodle Bar exists, as I have been ordering their Tonkatsu Raman with beef slices and short ribs. The broth is rich and exactly what you want when you have a head cold. The noodles taste homemade and the texture is just right. The short rib makes the Raman extra special. I have also ordered their potstickers, which were delicious as well. I have ordered in the past from this place, so I know they have a good tract record and can be trusted. While I can't speak to their in restaurant dining experience, I can say that their noodles and soups are to die for. I feel much better now, and this place was a comfort when I was sick.

Franz S.

Yelp
Ordered online and am very happy with everything we got. Easy, fast, and delicious. We will be back!

Yelp
Update #3. I am reducing a star for the horrible service we had here on Saturday afternoon. We went in for an early dinner around 5ish to try and beat the rush. We were sat right away, and got our apps and waters in quickly. The apps and water came out quick as well and we placed our dinner order. After that I don't think we saw our server again for half an hour at least. I ordered my General Tso's with onion, and bell pepper since it amplifies the already wonderful dish. My girlfriend ordered Orange chicken with noodles. When the food came out hers had no noodles with it. I told the gentlemen that brought them out that she was missing noodles and he said they'll be out in a minute. 1 minute went by, and then another 7 or 8 before the noodles came. I had eaten over half my onion & bellpepper-less plate by the time her noodles arrived, and her food was cooling off quickly. I didn't say anything about the blunders they made and we just ate our food. Then we finally had our waitress come back, and I asked for the check since it was plausible to not see her for another half hour. A different guy brought us out the check a few minutes later. I could tell there was additional charges to my meal even though it was in another language. I asked the waiter to please remove the added charge for the onions and bell peppers that I did not get and showed him the picture I took proving that they weren't in the dish. He said sorry about that and took the ticket back to the computer......5 minutes later he brings back the exact same ticket. No change in amount or reduction for the items they billed me fore, that i didn't get....so instead of hassling with it longer, i took half of it out of their tip. Should have done the whole amount, but I left the smallest percentage tip I think I ever have left. The service was horrible, the food off timed, and then they couldn't even fix their mistaken charge that I had to catch. I would rate this place 2 stars had it been my first experience. Food's still 5 stars, but service was very bad. I'll be back again to give another try, but hoping this was a one off bad day.

Yelp
Was expecting bao, , instead I received what seems like a Swedish meatball from Costco stuffed in a pastry . The noddle soup broth had a good flavor , the meat was a low quality
google avatar

Douglas P.

Yelp
The food was very good! We had delivered to our hotel room and the food was still piping hot. We ordered the beef broth with noodles and chicken fried rice. Would highly recommend.

Cyndi Y.

Yelp
Skip this one. Nothing much to do here. Food was not special or very good. Don't bother.
google avatar

Adame A.

Yelp
Absolutely a hidden gem, how noodles are being made fresh right in front of you is so thrilling makes you feel like your getting the real deal the bao is so fluffy , the service is good go with the youpo beef noodle so spicy but will have you coming back for more we been here more than a dozen times in the past 3 months, did I mention kid friendly
google avatar

Tynisha M.

Yelp
I came here regularly to meet friends to catch up! I loved their food and it's quiet.
google avatar

Christopher A.

Yelp
I had the spicy beef soup bowl. The food was prepared super fast. It was hot and the food was high quality. I tried the spicy cucumbers as an appetizer and they were surprisingly tasty. There was hardly anyone there so the service was great. I need to explore the menu more but everything looks great. Its a weird thing I notice but the water tastes good, it wasn't just tap water in my glass.
