Galette - Review - Avondale Estates - Atlanta - The Infatuation
"Avondale Estates’ small strip of restaurants and shops with distinct Tudor-style architecture already feels like a small New England town. Walking into this shoebox-sized bakery and taking a bite of a flaky pistachio croissant reinforces that big Stars Hollow energy. If you’re lucky, you can snag one of two tiny tables in front of the bay window, alternate between sips of strong coffee and bites of a moist chocolate chip cookie, and stare out at sidewalk strollers. But since we’ve only ever witnessed empty tables when Galette is closed, plan on ordering crispy sourdough baguettes and sweet apple cider donuts to go. Go ahead and snag their namesake too—the dutch apple galette, stuffed with apple slices and a crunchy cinnamon crumble topping that perfectly complements the smooshed apples." - Juli Horsford
I embarrassingly thought this was a coffee shop with a side of pastries. Was I wrong! This is a true pastry shop with some of thee most gourmet pastry selections. The ham and cheese croissant is my absolute fave, veggie quiche, croque mansieur, cookies… I can keep going! Just go and I promise you will not be disappointed. Hack: buy a couple items and they will still taste just as good and fresh if you reheat in the oven/toaster oven the next day.

Galette is dangerously too close to our home. Our waistline needs to be on guard with this Avondale Estate gem. We tried their coffee cake first and then went back for more. So far I have tried their blueberry muffin and I will no longer buy muffins from chain stores that we have around us. This muffin had a crisp top, fluffy moist crumb and not overly sweet!
Their variety, excellence and location makes this a go to spot for a quality baked good. I'm glad we stopped in.

Absolutely delightful little bakery! Both sweet and savory options are delicious. The little spice donuts are a great sweet treat. The breakfast croissant with egg and caramelized onions was so good. The staff were friendly, helpful, and patient with my indecision. It was fun to see the owners in the back baking away. The sourdough baguette is also wonderful. Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed. Great addition to Avondale Estates!

Stopped in while visiting the music store next door and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of pastries offered at this shop. The staff member working the till was very helpful and recommended a few options. While I appreciate the creativity of the sourdough croissant, it had a bit of an odd aftertaste and would’ve preferred the option for a standard butter croissant. The galette and cinnamon rolls were top notch!

This place is incredible. I am very particular about patisserie, and Galette knows what they are doing. The lamination is perfect, and the flavors are spot-on. Everything I’ve had has been excellent.

The entire team at Galette has become a highlight of our weekends. We always check their instagram before heading out, and it may or may not be the motivator more than once for us to not spend all morning with the dogs in bed!
Everything I’ve had has been divine - from the chocolate sugar cookies to the jamon et beurre sandwich! The only downfall is so many folks know about them they have sold out before our arrival - but just means we have to visit again! If they ever made a cookbook, I’d be first in line!
(Added perk - it was was great seeing them make transparent donations to Lost-n-Found for Pride month)

I have been following Galette since their farmers market beginnings. I used to find them around town and brave cold early mornings to be sure to get my favorite treats before they ran out. I’ve been delighted to go to their brick and mortar store in Avondale. I’m slowly working through the menu. It varies from visit to visit. Last weekend we got the peach and ginger galette, chocolate cookie, zucchini bread. Today was sourdough baguette and cinnamon roll. Do not let the road construction in front if the store deter you. Best pastries in Atlanta. You’ll feel a little French after eating one of the croissants! I’m looking forward to seeing what they’ll do for the holiday season.

This bakery always has delicious treats and they’re always fresh! It’s a cute little bakery with plenty of good options.
They’re also very responsive online if you have questions or concerns. The prices are even reasonable if not better than some of the other big bakeries around town.
I went in and I’m assuming it was the owner was doing something on the POS system and immediately stopped so the employee could ring me up versus forced me to wait while she finished what she was doing. Certainly a customer first kind of situation I will absolutely be returning to hopefully one day, try the breakfast sandwiches on the weekend

Yelp
Great addition to the Avondale Estates community. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I went on a Sunday morning and it was busy, but they were able to get folks in and out timely without long waits. They have lots of baked goods to choose from, but my favorite is the almond croissant and the savory scone. The almond croissant is buttery with the right amount of sweetness. It's a crowd favorite. Be sure to check them out at the below hours:
Thursday 7am - 3pm
Friday 7am - 3pm
Saturday 8am - 2pm
Sunday 8am - 2pm

Yelp
Sometimes I dream that I wake from bed, put on my robe, find my slippers and head out of my bedroom door only to magical discover my kitchen has been transformed into this bakery. I could seriously eat here everyday and never get tired. Alas, it is not at my house and we must travel to revel in the goodness that is galette. I always plan on sitting and relaxing in the charming accommodations that are available, but the truth is we are typically face down shoveling delicious baked goods in our mouths as quickly as humanly possible. Viva la galette!

Yelp
I saw their post on my social media feed and decided to stop in many hours before the impeding storm. The guy in front of me spitefully ordered the last 2 pistachio croissants after over hearing my phone conversation about them. After purchasing an apple galette, I took photos to post as other customers arrived in line, but I felt oddly rushed to leave as the cashier asked if I needed anything else rather than attend to the new customers. I don't think I'd feel welcomed if I returned to this small establishment.

Yelp
Best lamination in ATL! Pistachio croissant was too good! Customer service is on point too!

Yelp
Avondale Estates is now home to one of the best bakeries in the Atlanta metro area. Galette started as a stand at the local Farmer's Market with very long lines and so recently has opened a brick and mortar location. It's a very small shop located in the heart of downtown Avondale. The galettes, croissants and other baked goods I'd never even heard of are all pretty amazing. It's worth a trip to check them out.

Yelp
This place rules. I've been going here every weekend since they opened. Last week they had sold the last cruffin right before I could get in, but I wouldn't hold that against the business, because I'm not a TOTAL IDIOT.

Yelp
I cannot express how delighted I am to have this place only five minutes from my house. The croissants, the baguettes ... no shit, it's like having a little patisserie teleported to your neighborhood from Paris.

Yelp
The long time staple of the Avondale Estates farmers market now has a permanent home, and what a delightful home it is. Pastries to die for, good coffee, happy staff, and a cute setting make grabbing your morning (or afternoon) treat a pleasure every time. Only gripe is they ran out of chocolate croissants twice when I went there. You snooze, you lose, I guess.
