"Avondale Estates’ small strip of restaurants and shops with distinct Tudor-style architecture already feels like a small New England town. Walking into this shoebox-sized bakery and taking a bite of a flaky pistachio croissant reinforces that big Stars Hollow energy. If you’re lucky, you can snag one of two tiny tables in front of the bay window, alternate between sips of strong coffee and bites of a moist chocolate chip cookie, and stare out at sidewalk strollers. But since we’ve only ever witnessed empty tables when Galette is closed, plan on ordering crispy sourdough baguettes and sweet apple cider donuts to go. Go ahead and snag their namesake too—the dutch apple galette, stuffed with apple slices and a crunchy cinnamon crumble topping that perfectly complements the smooshed apples." - Juli Horsford
