Google
we were looking for a special place to enjoy Mother’s day and online reviews recommended Garrison so we made a reservation. We arrived a bit early and the restaurant was a bit confused as to the number of people in our reservation. they started the poor customer service which continued throughout the time. overall customer service and timing was poor but food quality and taste was good. we got seated and ordered the cheese and bread as a starter. The bread was really good while the cheese was alright. We then ordered the pancakes, the veggie omelette, the shrimp omelette, brussels sprouts, side potatoes, and a side of toast and biscuit. The brussels sprouts were really good while the potatoes were decent. The veggie omelette was good while the shrimp omelette had really small shrimps. the biscuit tasted frozen and the pancakes were good but were small and more Japanese-style. overall, the food had good flavor but the portion size was a bit small and the customer service was not good

Brunch here was amazing. Atmosphere decor friendly bartenders food choices taste presentation. Even the restroom was adorable! Great find!! We will be back a lot.

Don’t let the fancy exterior intimidate you! Inside, you’ll find a wonderful blend of chic meets cozy in this family friendly establishment serving up jazzed up versions of your favorite comfort foods. The hearty serving of French fries will leave you licking your fingers. Outdoor seating is available under their quaint and picturesque gazebos. Delicious!

Google
Such a cute little spot for brunch or a night out! The food and cocktails/mocktails are delicious. I got the chocolate mousse for dessert after brunch the other day, and it looked as good as it tasted.

Google
Service was fantastic! Christine did an excellent job of helping us decide by explaining how the dishes were prepared. The food was great, we had appetizers and main. The watermelon salad was perfect for summer. The potato and leek soup was one of the best I’ve had. Great time and will be back

Google
We LOVED being at the chefs table. We shared a ceasar salad...it was HUGE, even as shared. The pasta bolegnase was delicious and so was the strip steak. I wasnt too much for the shrimp toast even though it was beautifully cooked. The mashed potatoes were terrible, tasted like they were made with skim milk and butter. I loved the experience of the chefs table...but the restaurant in general is very over priced.

My party of 3 had reservations on a Saturday evening. I was shocked to see that there was valet parking. It was backed up and created sort of a traffic jam. Personally, I don’t think valet is needed here. The parking lot is large so just let people park and things will flow a lot smoother. Once seated, the server quickly brought us water but we didn’t see him again for 20 - 30 minutes. I must say that I expected a better cocktail list for a restaurant with the word Cocktails in it. Once we finally placed our order, it took a while to get our food. The chicken sandwich was decent and had some nice flavors. The Brussel sprouts were overcooked and hard to chew. One of the guests had a very long hair in her Brussel sprouts. The scallops and bolognese were both meh. The accompaniments with the scallops were weird and the dish didn’t mesh well. After we finished eating, we asked the server for the check and it took another 30 minutes for us to get it. Overall, the service was disappointing and we all agreed that we wouldn’t want to return here.

Google
Vibes are 100. While this restaurant is located in Metairie, the interior of the restaurant makes you feel as you are in midcity or uptown. Due to our large group, we were limited to a preset menu. The staff did their best to make our group feel special for celebrations. We were not aware that we were going to be charged for the desserts as we assumed it was on the preset menu. I look forward to return to restaurant during the fall and enjoying their outdoor gazebos

Yelp
10/10! Service was amazing, food was on point and the atmosphere is a vibe! Love their decor and the outdoor space is just as stunning as the inside. They offer a Texas ginger beer that tastes better than Vernon's! The braised short ribs were extremely tender and the brussel sprouts were flavorful. I can't wait to try more of their menu.

Yelp
I'm not complaining about the food as it was good and appetizers were amazing. The salad was fresh and drinks definitely hit the spot. The visit was just hands down horrible with service. My party had multiple orders for drinks put in but they had a excuse to put the food order in. The party sat at 7:45 and it was 9:00 by the time we got to order food. The best part was the drink spilled on my wife after dinner. The manager came up to apologize but for a large party of people that made the mood and room quiet.

Yelp
I've been tossing around the number of stars I should assign Garrison, and I couldn't decide for a bit. Four or five? I landed on five for the following reasons. This being a fairly new spot, I was impressed with the smooth service we received. There weren't any hiccups and our server was a such a pro that I felt as if I was at a long established New Orleans gem. She was extremely helpful and her suggestions were spot on. She was attentive and professional, with a strong side of genuine kindness. The food was all solid with the exception of the duck salad. Although the flavor of the duck was nice, the rest of the dish felt like nothing. It was as if the intent was just to serve a small bit of tasty duck, and then the chef decided that there should be some presentation, so they placed it on some filler. I think a few slices of duck on a beautiful, small plate would've been nice, and at a lower price point. The focaccia bread service was good. Now for my burger - it was delicious. It was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. I would have appreciated a side of fries or fancy onion rings, so maybe in time this will change. Aside from my burger looking very lonely on the plate, it was a win. I had the king cake cocktail with my meal and I am blown away. It was a perfect interpretation. My hat is off to whomever conceived this unique drink. I've had my share of king cake cocktails over the years, and this was by far my absolute favorite. Y'all, it was sweet but a little bold, and the cinnamon flavor was exactly enough. I wanted a second one, but am a lightweight, so had to limit myself on this particular night. The decor and ambiance were nice as well.

Yelp
I met up with some of my girlfriends for an early Sunday evening dinner. There was only one other table in the set of rooms off to the right of the bar and about 4 guests seated at the bar. We were seated in a beautiful corner booth. The ambiance was a little odd to me. The room we were in literally looked like someone's home and there was no music or any other background noise, so we felt our conversation was amplified. There are two gender neutral bathrooms (which were both clean and well stocked but a tad dark.) We ordered a bottle of bubbles since it was 50% off and also had some martinis. Having read the other comments about the fullness of the glasses I braced myself but honestly I had no problem with the pour. The espresso martini was delicious and bold. We were disappointed because we had come in for the prime rib special that was advertised on the website but it was not available. One of my friends ordered the pork sandwich, which was also unavailable, so she got a burger instead. The food was kinda meh. We shared the cauliflower, onion dip and shrimp toast appetizers, and honestly I was not wowed by any of it. I had the scallops for my entree, which were fine. Two of us ordered the chocolate mousse and cheesecake for dessert- also just ok. The tastiest thing I ate were French fries. Service was fine. Nothing extraordinary but not bad either. I took a peek out the back door and the courtyard area looks like it'd be nice to chillax in when the weather warms up. But there wasn't much on the menu or in the whole experience in general that excites me enough to come back. So, not bad but not great. Probably would not return or if I did it would be for drinks in the courtyard.

Yelp
We have visited Garrisons a couple of times and the food is pretty good. First visit we tried the ribeye and the bolognese. Steak was tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. The bolognese was creamy and rich. Delicious but definitely enough for a couple of meals. On our 2nd visit we tried the porkbelly with cabbage and the grill pork chop with grit cake. The pork belly was tender and quite tasty. We both would have preferred a little char on it. The pork chop was a fail unfortunately overcooked, tough, and dry. However the grit cake served with the chop was amazing. They were very understanding and removed the chop from the bill. Dont forget to try the French 75 with cognac.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant, great service, seated right away with reservation. Good cocktail menu! Ordered brioche & grilled shrimp appetizers; both were perfectly paired with butters, little veggies, lettuces & sauces that made them uniquely delicious! We shared a chicken cutlet sandwich, that was dressed with fresh arugula, tomato, olives & a wonderfully prepared sauce. It came with thick cut fries & a garlic aioli. Whole menu is well throughout, prepared & "foodies" will love this place! Yum!

Yelp
Garrison is a cute new spot in Old Metairie with a more trendy, moody ambiance! I didn't get many pics, but it's a good place for cocktails and apps. I loved the Cheesecake (pictured) as well as the Shrimp Toast! I'll definitely be back to try the dinner or brunch service.

Yelp
Darren and Janae are the absolute BEST bartenders I have ever had. First of all, the espresso martini is to DIE for, the prickly pear (add passion fruit) is amazinggggggg!!!! Oh and don't forget to try the onion dip!

Yelp
So in love! We were visiting my husbands hometown over thanksgiving and popped in for date night sans kiddos. Lovely spot with excellently executed menu. Very approachable menu, some things familiar but better than I make at home and mixed with new things to try. I loved the experience.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place for brunch after we found out Ruby slippers wait time was over an hour. Great decision to come here instead! Food was upscale at reasonable prices and great plating. The lemon zest on the Caesar salad was chefs kiss! All the dishes were rich in flavor! Also tried the brussels, burger and breakfast sando.

Yelp
Service was good and the food was pretty good, but very disappointed in the cocktails. Went with a friend for drinks, dinner and ambience. This was my first time at Garrison. Our martinis were served in a medium sized martini glass and were only 1/2 full. My friend and I didn't say anything the first round, but decided when we ordered our second martinis that we would say something about the skimpy portion. Our waiter said he would let the bartender know, but that it was probably the glass size!!! Our 2nd round of drinks came and again less than 1/2 full!!! At $14-16 a martini not happy with the drinks. Will not be going back. Overpriced and undersized cocktails!

Yelp
The service was painfully slow, but our bartender was as sweet as she could be for being in the weeds.. and the food was delicious. It's new so hopefully they will work out the kinks!

Yelp
The food was absolutely phenomenal. The Service staff was super knowledgeable and friendly. The ambience was warm and inviting. We went on a Saturday night and sat at the chef's table. I didn't intentionally make reservations for that area but I'm so glad that we did! From the moment we walked in the door, until the last bite of our dessert, everything was absolutely amazing. I cannot wait to go back and try the other things on the menu.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and go to Garrison, the food and drinks are top notch. Wednesday's are burger night and is the best burgers around. Atmosphere is beautiful and this i can say is the only place i enjoy eating out and the food is always consistently good whether its brunch or dinner!

Food and service need to improve to match the ambiance here are 85 more characters to finish the review.

Yelp
We went for lunch. Upon entering the place, it was a little empty because it was around 1:30 pm, maybe lunch rush was over? Inside was incredibly cute. Very nicely decorated and we were happy with a great first impression. We were greeted warmly and sat at a table. After a few minutes, hostess came back over to take a drink order. It was a Friday afternoon girls lunch, so cocktails were definitely on our list. We ordered lemon drop martinis. I asked them to make it as cold as possible ( shake it like crazy). They came out half full and the sugar rim was running down the side of the glass. The alcohol itself was fairly cold, but glasses were warm, and the sugar dripping down the glass was sticky and just presented badly. Again, the glasses were half full. Either fill it a little more or serve in smaller martini glasses. We ordered three small plates. Fried cauliflower was totally unappetizing- with Tabasco " dust", but it gave no flavor and just caused them to be incredibly dry. There was a light layer of ranch dressing on the bottom of the dish, but you wouldn't know it was there unless you finished the entire dish. The only reason we noticed is because we were searching for a piece of cauliflower that wasn't so heavy with the Tabasco dust. Brussel sprouts were dry as well- you could barely taste a hint of Worcestershire. Fries were good because they were hot. Wait staff extremely friendly- when our waitress asked how things were and we replied " okay", she asked what could she do to fix our situation. Anyway- we, as friends, don't get together as much as we would like to and we look forward to catching up with great food and drinks. Unfortunately, I don't think we will return to this place.

Claire N.

Yelp
Went to this place a few months ago when I was back home. The food was super bland and the server was incredibly dull, aside from being overly skeptical about mine and my friends' ages when we ordered drinks. We are all over 21 but she didn't look too convinced and even told us that we could not order a shot while we still had drinks to finish, which seemed odd. Over all, this place is super cute but is ran by the kind of hipsters that have no real personality to offer guests outside of being slightly monotone and unenthused and the food is nothing special.

Yelp
Wonderful experience here. Sat at the chef's table and sampled a lot of the menu. The ambience, food and drinks were all superb. An uptown feel in old Metairie. Will be back again.

Yelp
Great food and ambience! Love the private gazebo's you can reserve to watch sporting events! Food was delicious!

Yelp
Amazing experience at the chef's table. We were really impressed as food was delicious! 10/10 recommend checking this place out! A little hidden gem.

Yelp
We love trying new places and Garrison's came in for the Win! We will definitely come back. The indoor area has a darker speakeasy vibe and there is a huge outdoor patio with tons of space and lights and tv screens. Our waiter Cam was our Favorate!!!!! He was so friendly and very attentive to us. The Expresso martinis are excellent, ask for a splash of coconut cream. We had the Focaccia bread and Fried Cauliflower. The food was amazing and many items we learned were made in house like the yummy focaccia bread and cheesecake. The manager checked on us several times. We were there for 4 hours drinking and catching up and never felt rushed. Great place for friends or a date night.

Madison O.

Yelp
This place has a ton of potential, but desperately needs some finessing. The service was great. Our waitress was super helpful and kind, guiding with recommendations and super attentive. Our main point of contention was they require you order everything up front for your meal. With a small plate and tapas style menu, this feels like a bad approach to customer service. Once we ordered, it felt like every dish was missing something whether it be salt, heat, acid, etc. The concept is there but the execution needs work. Overall this is a great spot for a cocktail and a snack, but the food needs improvement. We look forward to visiting in the future when the kinks are worked out.

Preston B.

Yelp
I've been there several times. Staff is beyond friendly, food is absolutely amazing and the owner always makes it a point to greet people when he can. The "Chefs Table" is absolutely amazing to sit at and the outside alone is stunning. Every cabana has its own TV, fans and even heaters for cool weather. It's like nothing else!!

Miranda S.

Yelp
I really like Garrison Kitchen food and ambiance. However, I don't recommend it for parties larger than 3. My reservation for 8 people was not a great experience, and I won't be booking larger parties there again. I received a few texts about how the entire party must be present, the consequences of not being present 15 minutes after seating time, consequences of cancellation or changing the reservation, and a reminder that I was "due at garrison kitchen in 30 minutes." While they are strict about their reservation process, which I understand, it was disappointing that our table wasn't ready until 18 minutes after reservation time, despite our punctuality. Their slow response to emails and not answering the phone during open hours added to the frustration. While I appreciate their thoroughness in sending reminders and their guidelines via text, they felt overly strict and somewhat overbearing. Overall, I felt there was a double standard: their expectations of me were not commensurate with their results. The food was very delicious and I do plan on returning. Our waiter was also very kind and answered any questions we had about the menu.
google avatar

Sara J.

Yelp
The atmosphere is great but food is flavorless. Also the waitress served me the wrong rose after I pointed to it. Our food got forgotten as well. The crispy chicken is FLAVORLESS. Portions are small for what it is as well. I wanted to like this place because it's cute but I will never be back.

Mac G.

Yelp
We came in for a late brunch on Saturday and sat outside. The food was great, service was outstanding. We loved the outside space and the relaxed vibe. Will definitely be coming back.

Burnell B.

Yelp
Great spot in Old Metairie! The food was excellent! Definitely on my list for a return visit!

Michael H.

Yelp
Great service, food and wine. The staff listened closely to what we wanted and took the time to explain the menu and tailor their recommendations to meet our desires. The pace of the meal was excellent, but when the chef did not think it was going fast enough, he surprised us with a little extra that made us feel cared for. We especially liked the shrimp toast, butternut squash soup, and the Brussels sprouts.
google avatar

Shaula L.

Yelp
The location and ambiance of this place is great. It offer three different areas, all looking great. We chose to seat outside, but had problems with the heating it was either too much or too little, which made it uncomfortable. The food was good but not amazing. They need to further develop their menu. We order a combination of the appetizers and a dish to share. The best thing to eat was the focaccia. The duck salad was very disappointing and the fried cauliflower was just that. The bolognese was really great and I'll have that again. I wish they had a better offering for happy hour. The cocktails were good but with a little work and adjustments they can be much better. All and all while not amazing, it was a fun place to go, have a few drinks and get a bite. I'll probably will go back.

Trey W.

Yelp
This place is excellent. The reviews could not be further from the truth. Incredible atmosphere, great drinks, and the food is so good. We had just about everything on the menu, and nothing disappointed. We had no issue with the service either. I think some people write reviews just to tear someone down. I assure you if you and some friends, or your significant other want a great meal with a cool atmosphere- this is your spot.

Parker D.

Yelp
Had a great dinner! We sat at the chef's counter, ordered about 7 plates and the server/chef spaced them out perfectly. The Chef's counter which was a great experience. Glad this end of Metairie Rd is getting a breath of fresh air. Do recommend, will be back.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
I went to Garrison Kitchen when the first opened and had diner at the bar. The service was slow and the food was just okay. After dinner we had to sit and wait for our bill while the bartender and another employee had a lengthy conversation. Went back a second time, different bartender but same type of service. Overall unfriendly service and mediocre food.

Smith J.

Yelp
Ate here on Valentines Day 2024. The service was good, but the food was so far from that. We got the crispy chicken and it tasted more like veal (very meaty/gamey). We could only eat a few bites of this, as it was sitting gross cheese like sauce. The bolognese was a bit more forgiving, but it was extremely herby. Would've gotten much better for $100 from Applebees.

Ellie R.

Yelp
What a meal. Incredible ambiance, amazing service, and some of the best food I've had in New Orleans. And I'm from here. Go to Garrison.

Yelp
DISAPPOINTED. This is the only way I can describe my experience at Garrison Kitchen + Cocktails. I was looking forward to trying this place on a monthly night out with friends, as it's a new spot with a concept that was a much needed addition to Metairie Road. I will say that the cocktails I had were very good, and most of the food was pretty flavorful. However, our waitress was quite eager to take glasses from our table with drinks still left in them. The broccolini was good....and would have been worth the $12 menu price if they had served us more than 4 pieces. The crispy chicken: this place can get away with calling it crispy, but don't expect any seasoning in the batter or the chicken itself, and definitely don't expect it to be served with any kind sauce. I enjoyed the "fried" cauliflower with the Tabasco "dust," and the focaccia was good too. The service was not good, as we were informed of "rules" to order everything all at once, and yet had to remind our server about items we had ordered nearly an hour prior. Tables near us received items before us, so I'm wondering if those were ours. My water was refilled ONCE in the 2+ hours I was there. My party witnessed 2 other tables near us be seated, served, and leave before we we ever got out last two courses. Overall, I'm glad I got to try this place, because now I can rule it out for any future dining experiences. I'll stick to my tried and true favorites within the New Orleans city limits.

Yvonne H.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible service! They seated us on a folding table! at large gazebo with a wedding party. We were served drinks and waited forty five minutes for our waiter. We had to go inside and find someone to take our payment. Parking a block away. Food was okay at best. They need more time to get their act together.

Eileen H.

Yelp
This is a very nice place beautifully decorated. We arrived at 5:30 pm Friday and sat at the bar. The chicken sandwich was one of the best I've ever had and I highly recommend it. However, I was very disappointed in the very stingy wine pour making it very overpriced. Overall, we enjoyed our experience there, but the skimpy wine pour will probably prevent us from returning.

Rachelle N.

Yelp
I have no idea who is posting these bad reviews! I went here with my husband, we sat at what they call the chef table, more of a counter. Everything we had was absolutely amazing! Our waiter was more than helpful, the wine choices while small were very good and reasonable. We shared 2 appetizers and an entree and it was more than enough food. The dessert was amazing and I don't even do dessert! Please give this place a try for yourself!!!!

Britt H.

Yelp
Debated between 2 or 3 stars. Gave it 3 stars because its a beautiful restaurant. A+ for atmosphere. To avoid a long painful review- Took forever for the very inexperienced server to come to the table. Think he was pulled from busing tables to wait on us. Drinks were okay. First few appetizers were good. Scallop appetizer got sent back. Terribly fishy. Everything else was just mediocre. For pricing and atmosphere, we expected better food and service.

Dj S.

Yelp
From the conversions and renovations of this space to the interior design and from the cocktails all the way through to dessert , the owners left no stone unturned. A great evening will be had if you dine at The Garrison Kitchen on Metairie Rd.
