Gayle's Broadway Rose

Absolutely loved this place so much. The singers’ vocals were amazing, and they were all extremely nice. We even got to see Gayle herself, which was such a blessing. The whole atmosphere was so fun and welcoming. The food was delicious too — definitely a 10/10. I will for sure be coming back with my family next time. I highly recommend it.

Everyone, including adults and kids I was traveling with agree that this is a 5 star restaurant all around. How cool is it that your wait staff are having the time of their lives singing Broadway tunes that they pick, or you can request something if you have a favorite and they may be able to accommodate. And to top it off, the food and drinks were great. I would have ate two orders of the salmon easily, and that takes a lot for me to say, and the milk shake that I wasn’t sure I needed, well, now I want another one. I am going to be trying to figure out how I can go back there, or get a job there. One of the two lol.

I had read some not great reviews so I was hesitant. We were so glad we went! We were early for our reservation but able to be seated. The Broadway songs were non-stop. The performers/servers were great! Food came immediately and was excellent. Also, the restaurant is in a beautiful room. I do understand why those sitting in the bar miss out. The performers don't go into the front area. Note that 3% is added to the bill for "entertainment." Also, the hat is passed around. It's a unique experience so I was ok with extra $$. TIP - If you have broadway show attire be sure to wear it. If a song from that show is sung, the performer might come to your table. We were lucky enough to have Wicked clothing when a Wicked song was sung at our table.

My husband and I stopped for a quick snack before we go to a broadway show, definitely recommend! He got a beer and I opted for the Elphie & Galinda but added a shot of Tito’s, highly recommend! Also the spinach and artichoke dip is amazing! The singing servers were also a nice treat!

Absolutely amazing!!! The servers/singers were so wonderful, engaging and crazy talented! I’ve been to Ellen’s before and this blew it out of the water! If you have a choice come here! My burger and fries was also very flavorful and juicy. Will for sure come back!

It's a restaurant/bar where the servers sing broadway songs while you eat. Great food, good drinks and performances as well. A good time was had. We sat at the bar because there were no available tables. Reservations fill up really fast, for good reason.

This past trip to NYC was my first time going to Gayle’s and it was worth every penny and second there. The food was amazing, staff was great, and the atmosphere is spectacular. Every performance was incredible and didn’t overpower having a normal people and conversations with friends. Couldn’t recommend going here more!

This is a unique must do ny city restaurant. Loved the food (chicken and waffles were amazing, husband and kids loved steak and burger- we had walked 10 miles beforehand and were starving so maybe that played into it a bit). Loves our server and the atmosphere was amazing. At first I thought we couldn’t see the signers bc we were in front of the bar at the window but the singers walked around and we got plenty of entertainment. The whole area near me was singing. The cheesecake was delicious. I absolutely would give this ten stars. We met gayle she came around asking for donations for the singers and they were totally worth it. The talent was incredible. We will go every time we are in the city!

If you LOVE Broadway voices, please make a special trip here for dinner. All the singers are truly talented and have been in Broadway shows or National Tours. The standouts we saw were Jordan and Tori. We felt very fortunate to hear them sing . We can't wait to see them on Broadway soon. Please support these exceptional performers. Food was great too.

What a fun evening at Gayle's! The servers take turns singing songs, and also do some group numbers -- and they've got CHOPS. I definitely felt we were seeing and hearing a number of future Broadway stars! The place was PACKED -- and although some folks got in without reservations, a reservation is highly recommended, and a must if you're in a group. The food was really good -- I had a burger; my partner got the chicken sandwich; and our friend, who wasn't as hungry, had the matzoh ball soup. I had sweet potato fries, which were delicious -- as were the regular fries, which my partner got. We were too full for dessert, but what we had we really liked -- and our server couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. A heads up that it's LOUD there -- so this is a place you go to have a good time, not deep, meaningful conversations! I'm excited to go back and hear more -- if you visit their website, you can read about the servers. Lots of talented folks working there!

Our reservation was not correct and we were seated as a family of four at the bar. The speakers were blasting, and our teenager sons were ignored by all the performers. The food was meh.

Food was good, they had availability, service was good and entertainment was fantastic. Someone recommended this restaurant and in so glad they did. We were able to get reservations for a family of four. Will definitely go back when we are back in New York!

We had a great night at Gayle's; went there for dinner at 5:30. We arrived a bit early but were seated right away. In my opinion, we ended up getting the best server/performer, Ben Diamond. He gave us excellent service and had an amazing voice! I was especially impressed by how he was able to attend to tables while in the middle of a duet. He was also very courteous to patrons who would try to walk by during a song. I was impressed, in general, by how many songs the staff sang while we were there. I had thought we'd only hear a song once in a while, but the songs kept comin'! The food was delicious! I appreciated the vegan grain bowl (with choice of rice or quinoa). Plus, I added tofu to the dish. The bowl was plentiful, and the taste superb! I highly recommend visiting here if you're a fan of musicals!

A wonderful experience! The food was all delicious with large portions. The steak cooked to perfection. I don't think you can go wrong with the fare here. It's really about what you're in the mood for. Don't forget the NY cheesecake! But, the real attraction are the singing servers! They are all fantastic, and it doesn't slow them down from their serving duties, either. They all rotate, so there is constant singing. They're hustling, so tip well, please.

The Spa Water cocktail was one of the best cocktails I've ever had, literally felt like I was on spa retreat. The service was amazing, not only are your servers serving you food, but they're singing the whole time, providing a great show while you eat. Gayle is so sweet and took pictures with my sister to post on the instagram.

The food is very good here. We've had the BLAT and the Cheeseburger and The eggs for breakfast. We've had a delicious filet mignon with a rich scalloped potato dish. The atmosphere is nice. But the service is sooo poor. They barely acknowledge your existence. Only 1 waitress, who was very busy, kept up with how we were doing . Others have been on their phones or talking to coworkers, not a care for their customers. We have had to ask for our checks AFTER they have even collected the dishes!

Very fun experience. The singing servers were very talented and made the experience unique. We went for the 6:30pm seating on a Friday night and were able to get reservations that day. The ambiance was dark and moody and was a little loud when the singers were performing. Food was great, we had the fried chicken sandwich and the club sandwich. Herb fries were so good. Only draw back was that the food came so quickly that it speed up the experience of watching the singers. We ended up paying our bill and hanging out at the table for about 30 minutes afterwards.

You definitely go here for the music and not the food but it is convenient that the food comes out super quick if you're trying to hit a show after! This is such a unique New York experience and it's wonderful that you can make reservations here. The talent is absolutely fabulous and keep the energy upbeat and fun throughout your meal!

Wow! What a great hidden gem in NYC. The performers were absolutely amazing and the food was even better. Their new Broadway Burger was LIGHTS OUT. Our waitress was awesome! Definitely a great place to go for a nice dinner with some friends.

The food and entertainment were great. Service was good too. Had a little finding the restaurant in the Edison Hotel.

I was dying to go here during our latest NYC outing and it didn't disappoint. We made reservations for the first time slot and were able to get a table relatively quickly. Being a huge fan of broadway, I was so happy to run into a TikTok that showcased this place where servers were singing broadway show tunes and they did not disappoint! Each server put on a great show. I absolutely would come back again!

This was my first time in New York City, and I truly couldn't have picked a better place to kick things off than Gale's Broadway Rose! The food was absolutely delicious, and I'm still thinking about the lavender and butterfly pea flower mocktail--it was stunning and so refreshing. But the real standout? The singing waitstaff. You can just feel the talent in the room. These aren't just servers who can hold a note--these are full-on performers, and you're basically getting a Broadway-worthy show while you dine. My waiter, Tommy, was amazing. Not only was he kind and fun, but his singing gave me literal chills. His vibrato? Phenomenal. If you go, make sure to request main dining room seating. Some of the other areas have obstructed views, and you don't want to miss a second of the performances! It was such a magical night, I've already made plans to go back tomorrow. If you're in NYC and love good food and even better music, this place is a must.

Gotta compare to Ellen's Stardust Diner (sorry!). Compared to Ellen's, this place is much more fancy-looking, classy, elegant, etc. In fact, a lot of people walking in had no idea the servers all sing! Some of them walked out when they realized this LOL. The food is pricer than Ellen's, but quality + taste wise I felt it was the same. The singing was phenomenal, though I felt the energy and excitement at Ellen's was more wow. It was way too loud to have a conversation unless you rushed a few sentences between songs, but that was also the case at Ellen's. All in all, both restaurants are amazing and full of incredible talent, but I didn't like how rushed I felt at Gayle's. Food came out in minutes and then we ate and the bill came quickly after that. At least we could linger a bit at Ellen's! We're here for the songs and therefore want to hear a lot! Though I understand they need to accommodate those with later reservations, still sucks a bit.

Definitely a fun go to - especially with kids! The restaurant : not too big so get advance reservations since they only do this restricted dinner hours. Be aware that half the place is Gayle while the other half is Friedmans. The singing aside which was good, but not worth the REALLY bad food and NOT GREAT service. First, how annoying that they bring your appetizers and your main dish at the same time. If you're at a two top, you're basically left with no room. Second, you have to choose between eating the appetizers in record time or end up with a cold entree. The pot stickers were over cooked and stake as if they'd been sitting out for an hour or two under a warmer. The burger had cheese that was slapped on, not melted. It's like they couldn't be bothered, which seemed to be a theme among the people who work there. The chicken club was over cooked and tasted very stale. Maybe they're trying to suck in unsuspecting tourists and distract with music the terrible food and the terrible service. But you can't escape Friedman's vibe of both those things. Adding to the final nail in what was one of the worst meals in a long time, our server William threw our check down without asking us if we wanted coffee or dessert. Again, like many in there, he couldn't be bothered. But he also made unbelievable excuses for why the appetizers came out with the food. That's just bad restaurant 101. Service shouldn't come at the expense of a song. No wonder the restaurant is half empty at 7 pm on. Thursday. If you can't fill a restaurant, who's theme is musical theater singing servers, in the middle of the theater district on a Thursday night before the 8 p.m. curtain rises, it pretty much says it all. My suggestion is grab a hot dog and go listen to anyone of the street performers: better food and better service, and probably a better show.

We chose Gayle's Broadway Rose over Ellen's Stardust because they take reservations, which is fantastic. They do tell you upfront that you can only stay for 60 minutes. The food is pretty underwhelming- very basic diner fare- and overpriced, but I believe the experience of singing waitstaff in the theater district of NYC makes up for that. The servers are incredibly talented and their song choices were fantastic. It's a must-do for tourists- if you come for the talent, not the menu.

My daughter found this and it was literally right beside our hotel. The milkshakes are out of this world. My daughter loved her hamburger. You are not going for the food you are going to hear some incredible singing!! The service was fantastic!! The singers are broadway singers on a stop over between touring! Absolutely mesmerizing!!! Yall need to go in your close to Times Square!! Go to Gayle's Broadway Rose!!!

It was a Saturday night before the new year. We were so lucky to get the reservation for a party of 7 at 5pm. The hosts were awesome, it didn't wait too long until every parties were able to be seated. Food was mediocre. The performance is wonderful. Even our young kids enjoyed it so much! It was such a great entertainment experience for us!

Come here for a good time, not a long one. Singing and performances were fabulous. We were out of there in 30 minutes, got our food within 5 mins of us ordering which we thought was odd. Also, maybe got two oz of wine for a $16 dollar glass. We should know what to expect when our 14 year old daughter wanted to come before a show. Needless to say we needed to grab a slice of pizza after the show on our way back to the hotel.

Gayle's Broadway Rose was a unique experience but a bit underwhelming. The food was mediocre, and while the performances were decent, it didn't quite capture the full Broadway magic. I chose it as a way to get a Broadway vibe without going to a full show, which was fun as a first-time experience. Just a heads-up--it's very much a tourist spot, and they do come around asking for tips after performances. If you're curious, it's worth checking out at least once!

Not really impressed with this restaurant. First, the singing was excellent- that wasn't the issue. The issue was that check-in seating was a horrible mess with no real rhyme or reason. At one point a hostess came and yelled at the people trying to check in to get behind the door. Second, the food wasn't great. Our sides didn't match the description and we wouldn't have ordered those sides. I was looking forward to vinegar chips and got sweet potato fries. I can't stand sweet potato and would never order it. Third, we ordered drinks but never got them. I was charged for them. The singing was good - but 80% of the time we couldn't see the singers because of the numerous pillars. It's a good concept, but not a good execution of the product.

Staff was great and entertainment was excellent. The food, however, was mediocre at best. Ordered a pastrami on rye. Tasted like a leftover ham sandwich. Come for the experience but not for the food. There are dozens of better places to eat within 2 blocks.

Great place to go prior to a Broadway show. The food was good but the voices of the waiters/ waitresses are just amazing and keep you wanting to stay and hear just one more song. Nice staff that were overly friendly. We will be back.

We had two fantastic meals at this location. The service is quick and the food is delicious! The servers sing from 5 to 7 Thursday through Sunday. We went for dinner on Thursday night and it was fantastic! The following morning we went back for breakfast, because the food was so good and although there were no singers at that time, the atmosphere, and the food was still great. I highly recommend making advance reservations for this location so that you can be in the Music performance spot! Don't worry if you're not in the main dining room the music happens all around the establishment. We sat in the bar and saw several excellent singers. TIP: the restaurant is under the name Friedman, so if you're on the street, you might not easily find it.

We were here to celebrate my daughters 16th birthday. We enjoyed the experience as well as the food. I recommend!

THIS PLACE IS A BLAST! Don't come here for intimate conversation or fine dining. Come here for an excellent burger and to listen to the ridiculously talented and charming servers who are frequently between national broadway tours. Our 'cast' was completely spectacular and so funny. Jaylon took perfect care of us while singing like he just stepped out of the lead in Hades Town (which he did). The entire group were working hard but also having fun with the patrons and each other. Their voices were beyond anything I could've expected. I can't wait to come back again next time. BRAVO!!!!!!

Beautiful decor - was great for bringing a teenager as pics are great for social media. Friendly servers and staff. The food was great!

If you love a show with your meal, this is a place you should consider checking out. If you are sensitive to noise; bring ear defenders. Either way; forget about having a conversation. It isn't going to happen. Service wise; it is slow. Add to this the fact that our waitress forgot about us; I won't be back. The food was alright. Not great, but alright.

Definitely come for fun, not food. If you're a fan of Broadway or Ella's Star Dust Diner, this is a great way to mix it up. We had a one hour limit which I wish was included in the reservation information or on the website. Our servers were so talented! Food comes out quickly, and has somewhat of an Applebees/Fridays feel. They brought us artichoke dip instead of the Mac n cheese we ordered and they quickly made the exchanged, and we all laughed about the dishes looking the same. Another perk is that you can make reservations here, whereas you cannot for Ella's Stardust. We enjoyed (:

What a disappointment! After many visits to Ellen's Stardust diner and loving it, we were excited to hear about Gayle's. Unfortunately, everything that is fun and unique about Ellen's was absent at Gayle's. First off the ambiance and enthusiasm of Ellen's is lacking. This place is cold and so loud and noisy, it is hard to tolerate. The layout makes it very difficult to see the very talented singers. The food was terrible. The shake for $20 was thin and relatively tasteless! I'd take a McDonald's shake over this any day of the week. We left before our defined time limit was over.

Very good! It's the same format at Ellen's Stardust but surprisingly great food. On the same level of talent, however the presentation could be better. The space is quite big, not like a theater that Ellen's essentially is. They also have these huge pillars in the middle, which makes it difficult to see the singer. They do make their rounds but it's just a taste rather than a whole song. The staff do their best. I actually think the payment POS could be better bc the standard tips only give 18/20/22 percent.... That's cool for a regular restaurant but they should make it easier to give them something bigger.... when they give you the tablet, you're kind of rushed. I could see how Ellen's would be an upgrade as a job. As a customer, Ellen's is a better experience but I still think it's a great experience here. Reservations is also a good idea, as I saw a huge line outside when we left at 6pm. This is probably better for large groups as well, bc you would be seated right in the middle.

Gayle's Broadway Rose takes over the Friedmans restaurant at the Edison Hotel from 5-8. I highly recommend making reservations. This is a more upscale version of Ellen's Stardust Diner, the food is better, and the prices are comparable. I had the Friedman's Burger. The herb fries were good, but the burger itself was nothing to write home about. I tried a bite of my friend's Grilled Chicken Swisswich, and if I were to go back that's what I'd get. It was very good! They say they're famous for their milkshakes, but the milkshake wasn't the best. I got the Vanilla s'mores one, and it was okay. I was surprised to find nuts at the bottom since the menu didn't say that it had nuts in it, so just an FYI if you have any nut allergies. Our food came out quickly. The singer waiters and waitresses are very talented, and this is definitely something you should do in NYC!

The food was ok. The time limit is a little off-putting. Also the singers just don't have the same energy as they do at Ellen's.

The servers are all broadway actors in between shows... and they sing. That part of the experience is pretty amazing. I'm from the Midwest, so this isn't exactly a typical place to eat for me and my family. I have three daughters who were all in musicals and plays while in school, and this place was an amazing experience for them. The restaurant itself was beautiful on the inside.. kind of an Art Deco diner, if that makes sense?!? Sadly, for me, that's where the great experience ends. Our server could really sing the hell out of a number from Wicked, but our table service was pretty subpar. I ordered a beer when we sat down. The others ordered soft drinks. I think I finally got my beer halfway through my meal... which also took over an hour to arrive at the table. Now the place was busy, so I understand the kitchen can get backed up, but quite honestly, as sweet as she was, the rest of the service was really slow. The food itself tasted fine, but it was nothing special. We all got sandwiches, because the prices were off the charts. I understand we're getting a "show" with our meal...and the prices definitely reflected that. This led most of us to order the grilled cheese which wasn't bad.. but definitely not worth $26. In summary, I don't regret the experience, but I can't really recommend the establishment either.

This place was so fun!! The singing was truly incredible and a great way to end a day in NYC! The food was very good as well. Friend got the pastrami on rye and I got the grilled chicken sandwich. We both enjoyed our meals and we needed the night with a brownie overload milkshake! Can't wait to go back here again, we were able to get bar seating, but if you're coming with a larger group I would recommend getting a reservation if you can!

What an experience! Our group of 20 was visiting on a school theater trip. Our tour company called ahead, so everything was set and ready when we arrived. We had spectacular seats! The food was just ok, but the experience is what deserves the 5 stars!

I was recommended this place by a friend for my NYC visit since we're both into show-tunes and broadway. I had a lovely time during my first visit and love eating here. The waiters & waitresses put on wonderful performances every few minutes throughout the meals. I will definitely be going back to this place whenever I visit NYC again.

Overall a solid 4. I'll compare to Ellen's Stardust Diner because this is pretty much "the other" option. They say they take walk ins but dont even try. They could not sit even one person who walked in alone, not even at the bar. We even got texted in the morning asking us to come later because they were overbooked. The staff here are insanely talented, like opera talent and could star in funny girl talented. They don't have the charisma as the folks at Ellen's. Ellen's they dance on tables and shoot confetti and it's fun. Like FUN. This is fun but a bit stuffy fun. Food is better than Ellen's and about the same price. Ellen's has a kids menu, Gayle's does not. My sons grilled cheese was $25 and his plain shake was $17. Yeah. The tables around us were kinda rushed out. Thankfully we weren't but in the time we were there both tables next to us sat, drank, ate, paid, and another group did as well. I'd go back with a reservation. I'd go to Ellen's with kids. Update to add: I forgot I received a text asking to move my reservation later because they were overbooked and upon reading other reviews it seems this happens often. Also, the owner reached out to me asking me to change my review from 4 stars to 5 and I find that in very poor taste as well as unprofessional and unethical.

the singing was absolutely amazing they are soooo good! The mac and cheese was awful, too thick, doesn't taste like mac&cheese, weird hard to break surface cheese (I think I can't really tell).

If you a fan of Broadway musicals, this a must. It's the closest you'll get to being on stage. The food was above average and the chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream was amazing. But you're getting an unbelievable atmosphere with fellow musical fans. The wait staff is unbelievable. Customer service, accountability and they can sing. My wife and I will definitely be back.

Let me start by saying I met my wife in musical Theatre and our teacher was a Radio City Rockette. So this was supposed to be a highlight in our NYC trip. While the performers there were top notch I could barely tell. They sat us in the corner in the bar near the door. Our view was blocked during most of our time there. The audio was horrible because we had a single speaker in the corner blaring way above its capabilities. I complained to the hostess stand and your waitress and nothing was really done. If you go insist on sitting in the dining room and do not accept a table in the bar area. the food was Ok.

Food - Good, the brick chicken is super soft and has a good sauce! Performance - The singers were really good, and never missed a beat between singing and juggling food orders, and you know, actually having to wait on tables too :-) Great experience, something to do at least once when in NYC.
