Japanese steakhouse serving sushi, specialty steaks, and cocktails in a dramatic, dimly lit setup.
"We're getting to the part of the guide where Messi is starting to make some very questionable decisions. He's been to this underwhelming Brickell sushi and steak clubstaurant a few times. Once, there was allegedly a fight inside between security and some guy who was trying to take a photo of him. We weren't there, but can you imagine if Messi snapped an ACL during a brawl at Gekko? This is a sign that Messi should stay away from Gekko in the future. We get that it's co-owned by Bad Bunny, and that would be a pretty iconic friendship, but Messi is too important to be risking life and limb for a $105 skirt steak in a restaurant that looks like a bad lower back tattoo. "Gekkō is a pricey Brickell restaurant serving sushi and steak—but that's not what makes it such a hard reservation to book. The reason for that is because Gekkō is co-owned by Bad Bunny, perhaps the most beloved musician within the confines of Miami-Dade County. Don't expect to see Benito clearing dishes in the dining room though. Other than a Bad Bunny song or two, his presence is barely noticeable in any of the restaurant's details, which is kind of frustrating. Still, this place delivers on most of the clubstaurant metrics: loud music, shiny shirts, and the food is alright if you're willing to spend well over $100 per person. You can't really dance in the dining room, but when you're done eating, there's a lounge inside Gekkō that'll give you the clubby bottle service experience your heart desires. " - ryan pfeffer
"The latest very buzzy restaurant from David Grutman and superstar Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny combines Japanese dishes with steakhouse fare in the heart of Brickell. The sleek vibe-y jewel-toned space serves up decadent dishes like “Lava and Ice” Kumamoto oysters, lobster dumplings, and olive-fed filet mignon from Japan, alongside over-the-top cocktails. Dress to impress — and expect plenty of celeb spotting while doing so." - Olee Fowler, Dara Smith
"A joint venture between Miami restaurateur David Grutman and rapper Bad Bunny, this Japanese steakhouse aims to emulate a sexy, nocturnal vibe with custom wallpaper, a dark color palate, and gold accents. Start with Japanese milk bread with miso butter or lava and ice oysters with watermelon granita, then opt for decadent sushi selections like the 24-karat otoro with gold leaf, ora king salmon with black truffle, or Japanese uni. Main dishes include Chilean sea bass with Saiko miso and crispy kale, olive-fed wagyu steak, and an A5 flight featuring 4-ounce servings of the exclusive A5 beef. Patrons can then take the party over to Gekkō Lounge steps away." - Alona Martinez
"When Grutman and Bad Bunny collaborate on a restaurant, you know there’s bound to be endless celebrity clientele. From the Beckhams to Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner to Lil Wayne and Carol G, there are celebrities galore at this Brickell hotspot." - Amber Love Bond
