"Cotogna’s fantastic summer-only gelato cart is already parked outside the Jackson Square Italian restaurant. But instead of leaving us by summer’s end, a permanent spot is set to arrive by the end of the season, though the exact location hasn’t been disclosed yet." - julia chen 1, patrick wong
"It should come as no surprise that one of San Francisco’s best Italian restaurants also makes great gelato. The Gelateria di Cotogna is a summer-only cart parked, naturally, right outside of Cotogna, Thursday to Saturday afternoons. Four of the five flavors rotate, but thankfully, our favorite, the vanilla and honeycomb, is a constant. The vanilla has a borderline mousse quality, and chunks of airy honeycomb that basically turn into caramel in your mouth. But no matter which option you encounter, the gelato won’t be too sweet and often has mix-ins like ladyfingers and wafers. Just note that there aren’t any cones (if they’re available, you can ask for a cookie on the side). video credit: Patrick Wong video credit: Patrick Wong Pause Unmute" - Patrick Wong
"Pastry chef Jennifer Felton has taken a different tack with an upcoming gelateria opening; her work is cited as part of the momentum behind the so-called Great Gelato Summer of 2024." - Paolo Bicchieri
"Cotogna’s gelato cart operates Fridays from noon to 4 p.m. outside the restaurant on Pacific Avenue for now, with a permanent gelato and espresso shop planned for 2025." - Justine Jones
"I’m looking forward to Gelateria di Cotogna opening in early 2025 just a block away from the restaurant; it’s slated for 596 Pacific Avenue and will expand Cotogna’s beloved gelato program into a standalone shop after the viral interest and the return of the restaurant’s summer cart." - Becky Duffett
