"Hidden in a small shopping center between a Hopdoddy and Perla’s, Gelato Paradiso is one of our favorite spots for gelato in the whole city. The stracciatella is about as classic as it comes, with a rich, creamy vanilla folded around bitter strands of dark chocolate, and the pistachio packs in an intense earthiness. Grab an affogato if you need an afternoon pick-me-up, or just grab a two, three, or four scoop cone to keep you company while you stroll down South Congress Avenue. " - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
"The California import serves up really classic gelato and sorbet scoops and cones out of its almost-hidden location off South Congress in Bouldin Creek. Takeout orders can be placed in person; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Nadia Chaudhury, Erin Russell
"Hiding in a small shopping center on South Congress Avenue is Gelato Paradiso, one of our favorite spots for gelato in the whole city. Everything is made in-house daily, and it shows. A scoop of pistachio packs in an intense earthiness, and the stracciatella is about as classic as it comes—with a rich, creamy vanilla folded around bitter strands of dark chocolate. Grab an affogato if you need an afternoon pick-me-up, or just grab a two, three, or four scoop bowl and try to successfully finish your gelato before the summer sun does. "Gelato Paradiso, the California gelato mini-chain, is opening its first-ever Texas shop in Austin. It’s found at 1400 South Congress Avenue, taking over what had been Francisco’s Salon in suite B160. The name of the gelato store appeared on the plaza’s directory, found between Hopdoddy Burger Bar and Perla’s in April 2019. The shop is now open as of early January 2020. Gelato Paradiso is known for its array of gelatos, covering Italian standards like tiramisu, stracciatella, mint, cheesecake, and even banana, as well as fruity sorbets (mango, strawberries, etc.). Then there are affogatos, blended espresso/gelato concoctions, and gelato shakes. It also offers gelato cakes." - Nadia Chaudhury
