Gem House is a charming and intimate spot in the East Village known for hosting pop-up experiences with visiting chefs. We enjoyed a tasting menu featuring innovative small plates bursting with flavor. The cozy space can get a bit loud due to its size, but the overall experience is lovely.

This is a new generation fine dining which is unpretentious, low key and focused on food. The ambiance is romantic and tasteful, you totally forget you just had to step over a couple of crackheads on the street on the way here (in the end it is LES, not the best place to sport your diamonds). The celebrity former "teen chef" Flynn has definitely done amazing job and gained his name in the industry. At the same time he is very approachable and you will most probably see him bringing one-two courses to your table. We tried Flora menu ($155 for 8 courses) which was vegetarian and mostly delicious but I had higher expectations. I loved probably 3 savory courses, the dessert was good but a bit too sweet and rich on dairy. The amount of food was good and we didn't leave overstuffed (but we are both thin ladies), an average American man might still want to go get some pizza afterwards:) The service was very friendly and nice, execept one faux-pas when a waiter poured my sparkling wine in the same glass whivh I had tried a white wine from. Their wines by glass are very reasonably priced btw. Overall verdict- definitely worth a visit if you love fine dining and have funds to spend.

Ever since I read the article in 2014 in the New York Times Magazine randomly one day while waiting at an airport on a delayed flight on JetBlue I would one day try his food. I surprised my entire family - I only told them we were heading up to NYC. My wife and son loved the dinner we had. We were late for getting to NYC by 6pm so his staff moved us to 9pm without issue. Fantastic experience - we saw Chef Flynn not even hiding in the back - his kitchen is open and for all to see his amazing skills at work, and he comes to your table to present some of the dishes! He deserves the title Chef and all the suspects out there should come to try his food. There were food items I've never thought I could even eat (pine needles?). All the dishes were unique and they kept to their word with my wife and my son's food issues. My wife was so impressed with the entire "Date". I have never made a trip 5-6 hours away just to visit a restaurant, but here I did and it was totally worth it. Bravo to his cooking staff, as a couple of them came out to serve us a few dishes as well. We will treasure the menu handed to us after the dinner that details all the food we had. My wife has looked at the menu every day since we had this date.

Flynn McGarry deserves all of the accolades he receives. Besides being incredibly talented, I appreciated his warmth and his in-person care for his restaurant. Every single person on staff was positive and kind; which added to the beautiful atmosphere. I could gush about the ambiance: Minimalist and cool without being cold. This tasting menu was a culinary adventure from start to finish. Definitely go for the wine pairing as each flavor was highlighted by a sip of the appropriate wine. I think Gem would please any palate and nothing on the menu was too weird or challenging for a simple eater. I would characterize my palate as sophisticated and the flavors on McGarry's menu were complex and interesting. It was delicious and filling. Seasoned to perfection. I am excited to share this Gem with my friends!

If you're up for a new kind of dining experience in New York, go to Gem. The food is top-notch and some of the best in the city. The restaurant is elegant yet relaxed without trying too hard. The menu is priced at $155 pp, but if you keep an eye on Gem's instagram there are special nights (usually involving fresh pasta) which are more affordable.

Chef Flynn is amazing, I would like to give more than 5 stars for an amazing dining experience I had with friends. We all loved beautiful meals, every meal brought to us happiness. I would def come again.

I went here for lunch and had a really lovely time. I had been wanting to go to this restaurant since I had read an article about it several years ago. Finally got the opportunity to go to New York, and made it a priority to visit. I was most definitely not disappointed, the food was very tasty but also unique, and the space itself is warm, inviting and well curated. I wish I could go here more often in the future. Just gotta fly to New York lol
