Google
This was my first time coming here and it was well worth the trip. I decided to try this place because they have Lumpia pictured on their website. Thus establishment did not disappoint. All the dishes and pastries we ordered were delicious and well worth the money spent. Try the Lumpia, chocolate cake, empanadas and Ensaymada. All these dishes SLAP!!! The staff are friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere reminds me of a well established local eatery. This place is a must visit.

Google
Everything we tried from here was Absolutely Amazing. The Kamayan Plate for LB Food Scene Week was so delicious! I can't wait to go back again and try even more from this place. Found a new favorite spot.

Google
Some info for those wanting to eat hot(e.g. non baked) foods: Breakfast item trays are put out at 6:30am. They supposedly start putting out lunch items from "9am to 10am" where you can get a combination of both. And by 10am all the lunch items are available... Then by 11am they start selling out. Overall the food was a pleasant surprise. I'm not terribly familiar with PH food as I did not catch all the item names but the Machado, Adobo and Kare Kare were all very nice. Very well paired with plain white rice. My only complaint would be that the food is really oily. Some of the dishes were swimming in pools of oil that we had to drain out before eating. However this was similar to my experience in the Philippines so this might be considered authentic. Anyway I definitely plan to come back and try more.

Google
Wow! Have been ordering the normal take out of lumpia Shanghai, empanadas, ensaimada and mamon for family gatherings, but today I ordered combo plate and the pork menudo was incredible! Eating the menudo brought back memories of eating menudo made by our house cook in Manila. Also got the ube banana cream pie for my wedding anniversary. Will be trying out Gemmae’s other main dishes!

Google
i love this place and their desserts! the staff is usually friendly but sometimes i find that when you sit inside to eat they'll stare at you, hard. and sometimes you can't help it but jeez it was a little hard to shake off. that being said everything else is an 11/10!

Google
The cutest little Filipino bake shop and restaurant! My first time going and I found a wide of Filipino items, from their Ube cheesecake, filipino lumpia, hot food items, pan de coco, ube cheesecake and ube cake. Don’t forget their delectable mini ube and coconut tarts and their birthday cake.

Google
I’ve been coming here for 10 yrs but i never leave a review, well today i had the time and this Filipino Bakery deserves to let the People know that their Food is 5/5. Over the years the consistency of the taste, the servings and the Kind and happy Employees are why i keep coming back to this store. Not to be rude but they are the TOP filipino restaurant that i go to… Clean, Organized, delicious and lots of food to choose from, trust me! It’s the Best!

Google
My favorite place to get Filipino cravings filled! Their desserts, pastries, lunch and breakfast foods! All of the things. Come here and try everything especially the ube macapuno ensaymada, their cookies, and the ube banana créame pie!!! The best!!

Yelp
Gemmae Bake Shop is Filipino Bakery serving up some fluffy baked goodness. I'm sad I had already eaten lunch before coming here because there were some delicious looking savory meal items. We bought the dark chocolate ube cookie and we absolutely loved it! It was so light, soft, and moist. Almost like a muffin. We especially liked that it wasn't too sweet, so we could eat more than one. We also tried the Ube Bread and the ube filling wasn't too sweet either. The bread was soft and moist.

Yelp
Cute little Filipino Bakery that has both baked goods and hot foods. I wouldn't say the hot foods were all that good though, but there are a lot of different cakes and breads that were alright. I thought the place was mediocre but the people are nice! They'll also help you heat up your food for you.

Yelp
Best pandesal is found here! Thank goodness I don't live close by. I could eat a whole bag in a day. Their chicken empanadas were delicious too! My husband also ordered some pork adobo which was way too oily for me. But the baked goods are a must here!

Yelp
I love coming to Gemmae's. It's a small bakery/meal to-go spot located in LB but more towards Wilmington. There's a small parking lot which can get full. I typically go early in the morning on my way to work. It's never busy at this time so I can take my time to look at all the choices for the day. The service is always very friendly and helpful. My go to items include the chicken empanadas, rolls stuffed with corned beef, adobo, or longoniza. The empanadas are so good and very filling. The stuffed rolls are also good although a bit on the bready side. They are a nice quick breakfast or snack item. I also like their soups like sinigang which is a beef soup with a tamarind base broth. Theirs is a bit salty for my liking but nothing some white rice can't remedy lol. I recently tried their pork sigsig and garlic fried rice. The rice is awesome. The sisig was not bad. It's minced pork belly cooked with onions and jalapeños. It was tasty but beware the grease at the bottom! Lol I've tried a few of their baked goods as well. Their ensaymdas are really good. These are soft round sweet breads with butter and shredded cheese on top. They have ube ones as well which are yummy. Speaking of ube, they make ube bread which is a soft bread stuffed with ube. It's delicious but a bit heavy. So definitely eat alone or save room after your meal. There are tons of other foods and desserts I want to try so I will definitely be back.

Yelp
At the heart of west side LBC, Gemmae never disappoints. I love coming here on the weekends after a 12hr shift at the hospital to grab a fresh bag of pan de sal to bring home. On top of that, they serve Filipino breakfast and never disappoints. Don't underestimate this bakery, although size wise the shop is tiny, they really do put in the power and effort to delivery quality food and baked goods. Make sure to try it out!

Yelp
This is the bakery of my dreams. Having grown up in the Philippines, I'd like to think I have a very discerning taste when it comes to Filipino food and always comparing the food in the U.S. to how it is made back home. Gemmae hits the mark and reminds me of home sweet home. My only regret is that I just discovered it and apparently, it has been around for 30 years! That is longevity! Like Rachel (daughter's owner) said, not too late for now I "found it". Parking - found one right in front of the store and saw street parking also Food - oven and prep area can be seen behind the front counter so you know it is super fresh I have never seen all the food from my childhood until I got to this place (can't even compare them to Goldilocks and Red Ribbon whose quality in U.S. have gradually declined imho). I ordered the following for they are my childhood favorites and they are all A+: 1. Arroz caldo - lots of chicken and the largest container can serve two people 2. Ube Cheese pandesal 3. Pandan and Ube ensaymada - ensaïmada/ensaymada is a pastry product from Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain. It is a common cuisine eaten in southwestern Europe, Latin America and the Philippines. Gemmae's version is mixed with pandan (fragrant leaves found in Asian cuisine and tastes like grassy vanilla with a hint of coconut) and ube (Filipino purple yam). 4. Ube and Macapuno ensaymada - macapuno is sweetened coconut and typically eaten as dessert in Philippines Note: The ensaymada flavors here are out of this world and can be eaten for breakfast or as a dessert (can be shared or ...not). Best if toasted as Gemmae recommended. 5. Bibingka *- moist cake baked in banana leaf 6. Puto Bumbong * - literally translates to steamed glutinous rice (puto) cooked in bamboo (bumbong). Typically accompanied with warm butter or margarine, coconut flakes and brown sugar *Filipino delicacies traditionally served during Christmas season in the Philippines 7. Biskotso - Biscocho, also spelled biskotso is Filipino twice-baked breads coated with butter and sugar Disclaimer: Most of the descriptions are thanks to Mr. Google! Back to Rachel, one can tell when you meet her how warm and gracious she is- many thanks! Her family's passion to stay true to the uniqueness of Filipino food and delicacies is fully manifested in her bake shop offerings. Is this worth a trip to Long Beach? Most definitely and make sure to stock up and freeze (as needed) until next time...

Yelp
I have seen a lot of posts about Gemmae on Instagram, especially for their pandesal, so I was eager to come check it out. I went around 7:30 in the morning so there was no wait at all! I totally forgot to reserve an ube banana cream pie online ahead of time (requires 2 day notice) but luckily there was one in the case when I got there! There is a huge array of all types of pastries and Filipino baked goods to the left, and Filipino food on the right. I just needed the pie but thought I couldn't pass on the pandesal, so I picked a longanisa one and a sisig one. I also grabbed a pandan ube ensaymada. When I brought it home we opened it up to eat, but the sisig one was dry. I wonder if they were maybe made the day previously since usually fresh pandesal is soft even if it's not warm anymore. I decided to heat up all of the bread so we can try them all in the best possible form. The longanisa one was much better but still not super soft. The pandan ube was probably the best one! It looked pretty and it was tasty. But the true winner was the ube banana cream pie. It's a unique combo but makes total sense! The actual ube halaya mixed with the bananas and cream was a great mixture of textures. If you don't want a whole pie, they sell them by the slice! Check out the fridge in the left corner of the bakery. Would definitely be back for that pie and to try other items like the ube cheesecake and ube tres leches! These make great potluck items or gifts.

Yelp
Just grabbed random goods while the rest got lunch. I've never had anything too bad from here. We typically get lumpia trays for work. What I got this time: -Biskotso. Nice and crispy -Brazo de Mercedes. A bit dry on the outside, but didn't expect much because it wasn't a full cake/loaf. Expected to be dryish -Sinagang. Not a lot of meat. Only a few pieces. Wish it had taro. Good amount of sour. 4/5 Overall, good spot to try! Try their ube cheesecake!

Yelp
Ok, this is a hard one to write....only because I am sooo mad at myself that we haven't been to Gemmae's before now!! We are very familiar with this area as we have frequented both the Boba Tea House as well as nearby Poke Plus in the past. I heard of Gemmae on social media with posters professing their love for this Filipino bakery, especially their ube creations. I somehow confused this place with another bakery nearby that we had tried in the past...and it was good...but not great...so I shrugged off Gemmae. HUGE MISTAKE!!! GEMMAE is the REAL DEAL!!!! We like to consider ourselves rookie ube connoisseurs. We fell in love with ube about 10 years ago and seek it out at every opportunity. We have enjoyed ube in numerous states including Hawaii. We have tried everything from desserts, baked goods, soft serve, etc. Today at Gemmae we decided to do with the ube tres leches cake, ube ensaymada, and the ube dark chocolate chip cookie. All were easily some of the best ube items we have tried to date! The cookie was fantastic, the cake insanely moist and delicious...but it was the ensaymada that stole the show. We popped it in our air fryer for a few minutes to melt the butter on top...and it just blew up away! The bread was moist and soft on the inside while the outside got slightly crunchy and the way the butter melted into it - incredible!!! So yeah...after spending the better part of the last 5 years in Downtown LBC....and this bakery was right under our noses the entire time and we didn't try in until now...well it brings tears to my eyes to be honest. But we can't dwell on this shoulda woulda coulda, and instead will be coming back to Gemmae as often as possible!!!

Yelp
Any good Filipino knows where to find a good pan de sal, mamon, or ensaymada. No matter where you're born, whether on the island or here in the states, it eventually calls to you. Thankfully, one day, the call came in a form of a reel on Instagram. There was a bakery in Long Beach that was making ube flavored and colored pastries of Filipino classics and I had to try it. I got all my usual stuff to try, a bag of pan de sal and a basketful of ensaymada. Then there's the non traditional things we got like ube cheesecake and ube banana cream pie. The pan de sal was perfect...just a little bit of sweetness and the right shape, fluff, and a good amount of breadcrumbs on top. While checking out, I noticed they had filled pan de sals. I opted for the longaniza pan de sal, which was the perfect handheld meal after a long drive. The longaniza wasn't as sweet as I liked, but still good. If only they could squeeze a fried egg in there. While ube has gotten mainstreamed into American culture, this was the first time I've ever seen it in ensaymada form. The soft brioche like buns were so purple and had the right amount of ube flavor. Sometimes ube can overpower and make something a little too sweet. This was just enough. Ube banana cream pie wasn't something I expect to see, but it totally works. The ube cream filling with ripe bananas on top was a great little dessert. In this case, it was a little too sweet, but the flavors all work. It all rests on a traditional graham cracker crust, but it would have been cooler if they made it out skyflakes or otap. They also have a hot food bar if you want some traditional Filipino dishes. We were just passing through and didn't have time to eat, but coming from a family that made some of the best Filipino food, everything looked legit. While there are bigger Filipino bakeries around and closer, the food here is just as good, but still feels like a nanay and tatay kind of place. Everything is made in house and packaged nicely to take home. If I'm ever in Long Beach this will be a stop.

Yelp
GEMMAE BAKE SHOP is located in a strip mall with a limited but free parking lot. There was no line to get in and no line to order. The staff were all very helpful and kind. All the breads were fresh fluffy and moist. UBE PARTY BREAD and UBE MACAPUNO PARTY BREAD were delicious. The UBE BREAD is a brioche type (calling it "type" coz it's soft as brioche but I don't really know if it is) with generous chunks and dollops of ube halaya in the midst -- think generously sprinkled with raisins, but instead of raisins, you get giant chunks of ube. The UBE MACAPUNO ENSAYMADA was delicious and is even better hen you warm it up in the microwave for about 10 seconds. Super soft, lots of butter on top. Giant portion. Same with the UBE PANDAN ENSAYMADA. Yum. The UBE OVERLOAD COOKIE was awesome. The chopped pistachio was a nice foil to the sweetness of the ube. There is no eating space - this is a grab and go type bakery.

Yelp
Gemmae's has always been our go-to when it comes to family parties. We usually order the ube cheesecake and lumpia for pickup. The flavor and quality are always consistent, so we always go back. The online ordering system is very convenient; thus, picking it up at specific times has never been a problem! They use real ube, not those powder kinds they use at boba shops. I know.. I grew up mixing ube during fiestas in Silang, Cavite. The lumpia is excellent, too! The size is bigger than the typical lumpia from other Filipino joints. The inside of Gemmae's is excellent. However, there is no indoor dining, and it's solely for pick-up. One thing to note is the parking. It's situated in a small lot and can get full quickly. But there's plenty of free parking in the street. I will keep coming back here for our orders. The customer service is excellent, and the food/dessert is fantastic!

Yelp
What's up: Once again, I was on the hunt for an ube cake! After some searching on Google, I came across this family owned shop in Long Beach (they've been here for 30 years!). Parking: I was warned and it was true...Parking was pretty terrible. It's small, shared among businesses, and packed full of cars. Street parking is probably your best bet. Even then, Easy Ave was full of cars and I had to park about a block away on W 25th street. Environment: Staff members were friendly. They have hot foods, frozen foods, and other baked goods available. No seating available, you're there to grab and go. I had placed an order ahead of time using their website so when I walked up to the counter, I told them I was picking up a cake. The staff member got the cake, confirmed the message I wanted to write on the cake, and took it to the back to do just that. A short wait later, she returned and off I went. What was ordered: - Ube Cheesecake (absolutely delicious with yummy ube in every bite. I'm usually not a fan of cheesecake, but this was pretty good. They wrote the requested birthday message on it and even added sprinkles!) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. This was such a great find! Everyone loved the cake and it was so pretty and yummy. Only downside is the parking situation. I spent more time looking for parking and walking to and from the place than the actual pickup. Credit cards are accepted.

Yelp
Lumpia is always a hit but the online ordering didn't let me pick a time. The food was sitting on the counter for a while so it wasn't hot anymore.

Lilly T.

Yelp
came here a while back to try their sweets, mainly interested in the ube tres leches cake and WOW it was such a great mix song with the generous amount of fruits on top service was a little off due to language barriers but i was in n out real fast.. it may be a tiny location but its packed with a ton ! had to go back to get the full size cake rather than just a slice

Yelp
wow this has been on my yelp saved foreverrrrr. but i literally say that about everything but this was actually on my yelp saved cuz of instagram. and since i flew back to lgb. i was like pleaseeeeeeeeeeee let me go here. so we did even though i had an eye doctors appointment within the next hour. getting there was a bit long cuz of traffic but we got there and we got like four items. pandan and ube and bibingka. we didn't eat any of them right away and just shoved it in the fridge but two days later i was feeling big backed and ate an entire one. like rawdogged it and ate it cold too. but it was still good. but then i learned my lesson and read the label and it said to grill it and i did and omg was that a life changing experience. it tasted SOOOOO good toasted omg. i don't think i would go here again because it is so out of the way, but i think it's a place you should at least try once. yup! 4.5 stars!

Yelp
Absolute best. I'm ranking just in taste because that's all that matters here IMO :) Photo of Ensaymada but also got an ube cheesecake- ate it all before i could take a photo 10/10 must try

Yelp
If you're in the mood for some delicious Filipino breads, deserts, cakes and even food - Gemma's Bake Shop is where it's at! When you walk in, you're greeted with a smile and with the smell of sweet bread. They have so many options, it's hard to choose my favorite but the Pan de Leche is delicious and subtly sweet. I definitely recommend.

Yelp
After a long time away, I finally had the chance to revisit this delightful establishment. I was pleased to find that the place was clean and well-organized, with helpful staff at the front counter. The wide array of baked goods and desserts on display was impressive, and they even offered rice meals for those seeking something savory. All the food I purchased was delicious, with the chicken empanada being a particular standout. The crust was perfectly flaky and buttery, reminiscent of a croissant. While the ube tres leches was a bit too sweet for my personal taste, and the pandan ube ensaymada was dense, overall I was quite satisfied with my purchase. I'm looking forward to returning and trying out more of their delectable offerings.

Jenet S.

Yelp
Gemmae is a hidden gem that I wish I didn't have to share, but how can you keep this place a secret when it's just so damm delish. Hot food always on point. Hot pandesal just melts in your mouth and all the baked goods will make you come back for more. . If ever you have a hankering for Filipino cuisine or it's your first time and you're on here searching stop scrolling and get there early in the AM. The food never sits and it's never the same thing twice.

Yelp
A taste of the Philippine Islands We thought we'd start our day getting some baked goods at this bakery. They had a variety of Filipino breads, desserts, and cakes on display (they also do custom cakes). Available also for the month of April was longanisa pandesal sold at $3/piece. We got a couple of them and it tasted pretty good. Hubby really liked it. After browsing through the pastries, rolls, cakes we came to the hot foods section offering traditional Filipino dishes. That's it... we're having Bistek at 8:00a in the morning. Bistek is a popular common dish in the Philippines and is eaten over white rice. This Filipino dish is made of thinly-sliced beefsteak braised in soy sauce, calamansi juice, garlic, ground black pepper, and onions (cut into rings). omg I've not had this in awhile and it was delicious. It was a toss up between this and the Pork Sinigang. For a $9.50 combo plate they give you two scoops of rice and a generous serving of that Bistek. The employees were courteous and helpful. There is no seating inside. Strictly in and out. The bakery is located on the West side of Long Beach. Family-owned & operated. Instagram: @gemmaebakeshop Review #2950

Yelp
A coworker brought some mamon with cheese pastries and they were delicious! The sponge cake was nice and soft, and perfectly sweetened (not too sweet). The cheese added a nice savory contrast to the cake. I definitely want to try their other breads and pastries!
google avatar

Rona F.

Yelp
Pastries are good especially the Mamon with cheese..Service was ok, always check the receipt before you leave, they are too quick to punch it happened to me that they charged 3 ensaymadas instead of only 2. Ambiance is fine. Forgot to take a pic of the receipt.

Yelp
The team checking out your items are quick and knowledgeable. They're super sweet and give recommendations based off your preferences. Came here on Mother's Day to grab some sweets for the family get together. The banana ube cream pie is amazinggg! Everyone enjoyed this. My husband loved the buko pie, I thought it was okay - not too sweet and the texture is great considering the filling to crust ratio. My niece loved the ube tres leches. I'm pretty sure she ate half of it on her own. I didn't really taste the ube too much and think that the Porto's milk n berries tres leches is better but that's just a personal preference. Cookies - the regular ube chocolate chip was good until the I tried their half and half cookie. I think it's half white chocolate macadamia and half ube chip. The half and half one was waaaay better in comparison

Yelp
This place is a must-visit in Long Beach! We tried this bake shop last Saturday and stepped in to a store with an assortment of baked goods, bags of Pan de Sal, and a large hot food section. We grabbed the Pan de Sal and headed over to the hot food bar, where I got a chicken combination plate, which came with the chicken and a few scoops of rice. The service was excellent, as they explained what was in each dish, a necessity for a non-Filipino like myself. The chicken was great, as there were some large bone-in pieces along with carrots, peas, and peppers. The flavor was amazing, reminiscent of a Vietnamese ga ro ti. The sauce went really well with the rice! Can't recommend this place enough, you should make the trip out

The flavor was on point the sauce went well . Service was great too . If you want some fire egg rolls / lumpia this is the spot .

Yelp
Gemmae's is the spot for all your Filipino cravings! As soon as you walk into the shop, the scent of baked goodies, desserts and food just hits you smack dab in the face - in the best way possible :P The variety of goodies they have to offer is glorious. So many delectable and mouthwatering items to choose from. I usually come for their UBE CHEESECAKE and other sweets. I came on a Sunday around lunch time and finally decided to grab a rice plate for the first time. Staff are usually always helpful and friendly - always a plus in my book! The shop is neat, clean and roomy. The parking lot is decent, and you can be in and out within minutes after grabbing your food. I believe their dishes changes daily depending on what they want to cook that day. The options are endless. I'm still fairly new to Filipino food, but I'm glad I was able to try a chicken dish. It was around $8 for one chicken item, which also comes with two hefty scoops of white jasmine rice. Honestly, I was so indecisive about what entree i wanted! :O everything just looked so good. In the end, I decided to go with a chicken dish which I think is chicken asado. I forgot to ask the worker what the dish was called, but after much research, I think it was chicken asado -someone please correct me if I'm wrong. CHICKEN ASADO (chicken with pickles): 10/10! - the flavors were out of this world. There were big pieces of bone-in chicken chunks with hot dog pieces and carrots. I also found a piece of dill pickle which was surprising, but the flavors all complemented each other so perfectly. I tasted a lot of garlic and onion - so amazing! She also asked if I wanted extra gravy/sauce on the rice - yes please! A definite must! The dish was a little sweet and savory with a tang to it. *drooling as I write this review* UBE CHEESECAKE: 8/10! - this is what everyone comes for! Ube cheesecake is one of the first things I tried at Gemmae's. It's super soft, creamy and have a nice chew/texture to it. amazeballs! The flavors work well together with the buttery graham cracker crust. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who loves Filipino food or anyone who is adventurous and want to try something new! I promise you that your tastebuds will thank you for coming to Gemmae's.

Yelp
Great Filipino bakery/eatery in Long Beach, albeit not at the most convenient of locations for me. I've generally liked the baked treats I've tried here.

Yelp
I'm checking out Gemmae after hearing about it from friends. We picked up a bag of pan de coco, some Ube butter, and some empanadas. We went to try the cookies but they were sold out so I'll have to go back again another time. I arrived around 1pm and a lot of shelves and serving trays were empty. The lady behind the counter said if I came back after 330pm, they might have more stuff. Oh well. Next time. I'm not surprised when a bakery runs out of stuff by the early afternoon, especially if they only bake once in the early morning. The empanadas were warm, flakey and moist and were gone really quickly. The pan de cocos were not exactly what we expected but still good. They have a good amount of sweet, shredded coconut in them but there was no creamy "filling" (which is what we were expecting). The Ube butter paired well with the pan de coco as did a cup of coffee. I look forward to visiting again and trying more of their menu. Having only tried 3 items, my review is somewhat limited but I hope to upgrade it to a 5 if they impress us again on our next visit (my Filipino partner will weigh in more with his criticisms of authenticity when he's able to try more savory items). Parking tip: Gemmae is located in a strip mall just off the freeway and parking is tight. Even though there are 2 driveways, only the one on Willow is 2-way. The side one off of Easy is one way (into the lot) only--don't go the wrong way as it may result in a lot of honking and upset ppl. If the lot is full, you should be able to find parking on Easy Ave.

Yelp
Authentic Filipino bakery, serving Long Beach since 1979. Gemmae has a modern interior, but their offerings are timeless and traditional. They are consistently well stocked with sweet and savory breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and fried-to-order lumpia. You will find flavors like ube, pandan, macapuno, salted egg, and more. They also have a curated grocery selection. My husband wanted to try their Lumpia, but you can only buy a minimum of 25 pieces at a time. He asked if they have any combo plates which included them, and the woman working rudely said no. He went ahead and got 25 (way more than he wanted or needed), but ended up loving them. I was a disappointed that they did not have any coffee aside from bottled Starbucks Frappuccinos, but it was hard to be mad about anything after I tasted their Twin Chip Ube Cookie. It was the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had. Ultra soft-baked and buttery, the ube half had white chocolate chips, and the classic side had milk chocolate chips. I have also tried their Ube Ensaymada, which is huge and decadent, topped with shredded cheese, and filled with a whipped cream and their own ube halaya. Their Bibingka is also the best rendition of this classic cake I've ever tried. Grumpy employees or not, I am so glad this place exists.

Yelp
Very modern Filipino bakery located on the West side of Long Beach. Shares parking lot with other businesses, so most of the time we have to park on nearby streets instead of the crowded parking lot. They have a large selection of the classic breads, cakes, and pies with most also available in single servings as well. We stopped by today for a b-day mango chiffon cake, for $21 (something similar at a Korean bakery would cost twice that). They also have a limited food selection on a warming table for carryout only (everytime we stop by, the selection seems to grow). The two things we always get when stopping by (and are always available): the mixed bihon (thin rice) and canton (thick wheat) pancit ($18 for medium, enough to feed 3-4 people) and the pork egg rolls (25 pieces for $18). The egg rolls are shanghai style are 50% longer than what I would expect and are very meaty. Both are the best I've tasted in the LA area (outside of homemade)..and we've been to A LOT of filipino restaurants. The pancit is available as part of the warming table (and available immediately), but they will freshly fry up the egg rolls for you when you order (and thus takes an additional 10 minutes to prepare). The prices are very reasonable for large portions, the folks inside are very friendly and helpful. Credit cards are accepted, and they do a nice job of wrapping up your to-go orders for easy transport.

Yelp
We only went for the pastries. However, everything we picked up was delicious. We had the Ube cheesecake, Ube cookies, Longanisa pandesal, and the Bibingka. Although we arrived before 8 am on a Sunday, not all the baskets and refrigerators were fully stocked. There were only a handful of Ube cheesecakes, one variety of Hopia and no more plain Mamon. However, the hot food trays were fully stocked. Since we came before the adjacent businesses opened, the parking lot with its 20 or spaces was clear of trash and almost empty. Inside the store, the floors shined and was well lit to highlight the well arranged products. We plan on going back to not only try more of their pastries but also order their breakfast combination plates.

Yelp
WOW THIS PLACE IS GAS. Checked it out the other day because I was in the area and it did NOT disappoint. Anything with ube doesn't miss. The ube is so freaking good, reminds me of the PH. And them enysemada joints are MASSIVE. 5 stars.

Yelp
Let me start this off by saying Gemmae's food is delicious. Lumpia? Heavenly. Pastries? To die for. Catering food? Bomb. However, their service leaves something to be desired. We had put in a sizable catering order a week ahead of time for pick up for a small elopement celebration. They called me at 4pm the DAY BEFORE the order was supposed to be picked up to move the pick up time 2 hours earlier since they were going to be closing early, meaning the food would have to be left out that long before guests could eat it. A change to an order at 4PM the day before an event, in my opinion, is unacceptable - especially for catering. It is too late to order from a different place at that point. We were told that they couldn't accommodate a later time. We scrambled and tried to find a different place to order from, to no avail since it was so last minute. We called them back to cancel and they all of a sudden could accommodate the original time. When we went to pick up the order, a large tray of rice was missing. If you're familiar with Filipino food, you KNOW the rice is crucial lol. The food, overall, was enjoyed by everybody. Hence the stars, but I wish it hadn't been so stressful and that we got our full order.

Yelp
I stopped here on my way to a show in downtown Long Beach. It was in a small shopping center and the parking is tight. There were 2 employees helping customers so I had to wait a little bit but it wasn't bad. It was the afternoon so a lot of the baked goods were not available but I got the ube pandesal with cheese, ube ensaymada, and longanisa pandesal. Unfortunately, the pandesal bread was really dry and the longanisa was chopped up so little I couldn't really taste it, it just crumbled. Maybe I didn't get it fresh enough so I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt because I liked the idea of their products. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again though.

Yelp
I was there yesterday and ordered 2 Halo Halos. Sat down and waited. A group of young men came and placed their order - which took them a bit of a time. After they placed their order of one halohalo and one mais con hielo - their order came in probably less than 3 minutes - while I was still sitting down waiting for mine! WHY??? Bad customer service!

Yelp
We are not that far from this bakery and wanted to give it a try since it has been blowing up on line lately. We bought Pandesal but was very disappointed, it was very dry. The Enseymada was also not very soft and moist. It almost seemed like it was a few days old. Maybe it was an off day with the bakers but I will stop by again and give it another try. But for this visit I can only give it a 3 because the sweet lady behind the counter was super nice with questions I had.

Yelp
recently went to visit gemmae bake shop in long beach! their filipino food is unique and had a lot of selection the service was good, and quick i tried their cashew meringue, which had huge pieces of cashews but ok taste, the ube tres leches didnt have much ube flavor the ube white chocolate chip cookie was moist, and the pecan tarts were nutty! ambiance is between a filipino grocery, and pick what you want to go but no indoor seating! i posted a photo of the peanut butter stew with tripe, which is very interesting but did not try!

Yelp
I was sent a IG reel about this place from quite a few friends and seeing all the Ube baked goodies was enough for me to make the trip here. We went on a Saturday morning around 9:30am. The parking lot is shared with other businesses and is kind of small. Luckily, we were able to snag the last parking spot. We walked in and I was shocked to see how barren the shelves were. I'm in a bakery but where are all the baked goods? The counter where the register was had a small basket filled with Ube white chocolate cookies and some other Filipino pastries that I didn't really care for. To the right, they had food served cafeteria style. I thought if I couldn't buy bread then maybe I'll buy some Filipino food to go. As I got closer to take a look, I could see the oil floating on top and it didn't look like the food was hot enough. So, I decided not to order anything. I felt like it was a waste of a drive and walk out empty handed so I ended up buying one of the Ube white chocolate cookies. I asked the girl behind the counter if she knew when they were gonna restock their shelves with bread and pastries and she said it depends when their baker will be in. Huh? She said maybe the baker will come in Sunday (which was the following day). Um ok. I was confused. Does this mean that there isn't a consistent day or time when the "baker" shows up? Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed. I walked out of there with one cookie in hand. I shared half with my husband which we ate in the car and it was actually good. Really good! But I wouldn't go out of my way to go back just for these cookies. 2 stars for the cookies. Minus 3 stars for lack of customer service and quality.

Yelp
I am a veteran in town interested in getting some Filipino food so I had to check out this place. I would give it 5 stars for the food because it is delicious (HERO), so I came to physically get more food. The first order was ordered online from a secured website so no problems. Now here's where the ZERO comes in: because it was so good, I had to come in to get more. My physical transaction was using their cashiering system which skims your credit card, mirrors your card to charge it for a ton of charges throughout the country! Thankfully, my bank looks out for us veterans (and maybe others) and contacted me immediately to let me know of the fraudulent attempts AND even told me that the fraud initiated at this bakery's POS system! Please be mindful when going around using SQUARE systems in person.

Yelp
The best Shanghai lumpia on the West Side. I've been ordering my lumpia from here for over 10 years and the price is reasonable.

Yelp
Tried the pandan & ube ensaymada, ube ensaymada, and the ube banana cream pie. The ensaymadas were really good. It's light, fluffy, and filling. Not too sweet either. The pandan one was my favorite. The ube banana cream pie was pretty good too but can't really taste ube. The banana flavor was strong. Parking is rough as it can get full and it's small. The workers were very friendly and inside the store was neat and organize.

Yelp
This is the best Filipino bakery that I've been to! I got a longanisa pan de sal & it was so fluffy and delicious. I also got the ube tiramisu cake & everyone at my party enjoyed it. It's a casual place where you just drop in & grab your pastries quick.

Yelp
The most popular Filipino bakery in long beach. The pastry, cakes and drinks are good looking and delicious Prices are reasonable. Takeout only. There are also half a dozen or more entrees which I have not tried. The staff are super friendly. It's a family affair. There is a parking lot in front.

Yelp
I stopped here after seeing on social media that this place is ube heaven and it did not disappointed! There were so many things I wanted to try, but due to limited capacity, I ended up picking the ube tres leches, which I ate on the spot, the ube bread, and the ensaymada with ube and macapuno, which I brought home to eat throughout the week. Everything was a 5/5 and I would definitely come back here to try other stuff!

Yelp
A friend brought over some pastries and I knew I just had to try more! The ensaymada was delicious - soft and the perfect amount of sweetness. I was so greedy that I got both ube and pandan ube to try and can honestly say no regrets! The ube tres leches cake and twin chip ube cookies were also delicious and worth trying. The store was clean and had a lot of sweet and savory options. I didn't get to try the breakfast station but will definitely come back to try it out and get more pastries. Service was quick and very friendly, would highly recommend grabbing some pastries here!

Yelp
It's 08:00 and they're not open,, it said 6:30 .. damn. Work schedule is BS..when you're running a business, you have to not let this happen... they're food might be good but the work ethic is bullshit

Yelp
I'm not a big bakery foodie, but I had a party to go to, and I wanted to bring something different and unique. I looked up this place and this bakery came up so I decided to make the trek over. It's not in the best of neighborhoods and it took me over 40 minutes to find parking. I finally found parking in a residential area and had to walk while a homeless person followed me and that wasn't gonna be good for him because I have a black belt. Onto the bakery! I love anything Ube!! I got an assortment of different Ube sponge cakes, slice of Ube cheesecake, and some Ube cookies. It turned out that I was a bigger fan of the Ube cheesecake than the rest. I got a whole Ube sponge cake and heard it was good. In summary, I feel like if they were located in a better neighborhood plus using real Ube (charge for it!) rather than Ube extract would have been better. Or maybe my expectations are too high of Ube cake makers. And that's up to you to decide.
