"This beloved local ice cream shop tops its sweet treats with a bevy of candies, nuts, and sauces. George’s gets its ice cream from Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream, a family-run ice cream company in Madison, Wisconsin." - Eater Staff

"This Andersonville shop sells lots of sugary things - like candy, baked goods, and, of course, ice cream. The ice cream they serve is from Chocolate Shoppe, a Wisconsin brand, and you’ll find 32 flavors that rotate regularly (including sugar-free and dairy-free options). The ice cream alone is good, but we like coming here for sundaes in particular. They make sure to put hot fudge on the inside of the cup as well on top, which means you get plenty in each bite. This place is always packed, so get your sundae and walk around all the neighborhood shops." - Adrian Kane

Winter or summer, it is always the right time for George’s!!! The ice cream is good but try a milk shake! The baked goods are good too. Don’t forget the free popcorn if they are still popping it! We often get there late and they have already stopped and started to clean the machine!

Google
The 20 person line didn't deter me. I had their butter pecan ice cream, red velvet & triple chocolate cakeballs, & finished with a chocolate pecan cookie. There's too much to name. It is Amazing for satisfying any sweet tooth. Be careful. Definitely could be habit forming. There was a 30 person line when I left. Everyone was happily waiting. That should tell you more than any review ever could. Enjoy!

Google
Such a cute place. The line really wasn’t long for 7pm on a Saturday. The staff was quick and attentive. The junior scoops are definitely big enough. The single scoops has two scoops. I will definitely return.

Google
Sinfully delicious ice cream with a variety of flavors and cones which are all very tempting to try. I had a single (2 scoops) order pumpkin flavor and a espresso chocolate bit flavor (parental .... something I cannot remember the name) that tasted like a pumpkin spice latte... which is a GOOD THING! I found the ice cream so smooth and balanced I'll be sure to come back next time I'm in the area.

Google
Georges ice cream place offers a wide variety of ice creams flavors, with many innovative ones that are surprisingly refreshing. Their single scoops of ice creams have 2 double scoops while doubles are triples, all very reasonanly priced. There are also around 5-6 different types of sundaes in the offing and shakes. They have a neat little corner of hot beverages like coffee, tea and hot chocolate too for the winters! Loved the decor and the sizeable collection of board games. A perfect place to treat your kids to.

Google
Overall: Arguably the best ice cream in any Chicago neighborhood, with tons of unique local flavors that are all delicious. The good: Great tasting ice cream and generous portions. Just like a local ice cream shop should be. #Yousalty and the Exhausted Parent flavors are both fantastic. Also got to try the root beer float, which is unique and fit the bill. Definitely left full and happy. Atmosphere was fun and semi-old school and the service was friendly. They also have a huge patio out back. The bad: The menu didn't help out with the flavors at all. Had to go up to the "sneeze guard" and look at each flavor itself. Which, with the number of flavors, can be quite a task. The line can go out the door (understandable on a warm weekend night). Atmosphere: 8.5/10 Service: 8.5/10 Food: 10/10

Google
The ice cream is thick and tastes fresh and homemade. The staff was friendly and allowed us to try multiple flavors. It seemed that the manager was even out helping behind the counter. The patio area is adorable! Great place for family and kids!

Google
Very good coffee. The ice cream / dessert smells are very good. I ordered a s'more and wasn't disappointed. They have a table to play games and pass the time. Steady stream of people through out the visit. Asked the other patrons around me their thoughts on their ice cream and shakes and they said it was great and tasty

Matthew K.

Yelp
Jeni's simply has fantastic ice cream. The line moved quickly and there are multiple stations that have all of the flavors. They are dog friendly, so I was able to order with my pooch and then take my ice cream on the road.

Mark T.

Yelp
Well, I ordered The Standard size, which ended up being a mistake. Don't make the same, and go for at least The Signature. The pricing doesn't make sense otherwise. 2 1/2-scoops = $7.15 = $3.58 per. "The Standard" 3 1/2-scoops = $7.95 = $2.65 per (marginal cost is 80¢). "The Signature" 4 1/2 scoops = $9.25 = $2.31 per (marginal cost is $1.30). "The Study" Kind of reminds me of movie theatre concessions, where a small popcorn is (for e.g.) $9, a medium is $14, and a large is $15. The medium does exist in that it can be ordered, but in reality this structure is made to nudge you towards a small or a large. Here, it seems the pricing is made to nudge you towards "The Signature." Here, I suspect this is part of it, as well as a larger portion of The Standard is overhead/fixed costs vs. food costs (likely why an extra half scoop is not $3.58. Where it comes to the Ice Creams themselves, they are true to the name: Splendid! I was able to try, and subsequently ordered some seasonal options. These were all creamy, savory, and had scrumptious, prominent flavors other than just sweetness. The service is very friendly, and if happy to let you sample flavors before you buy. The vibe inside is light and clean. There is also ample seating, and I've not encountered a time when I wanted to sit but couldn't, but please take this with a grain of salt, as I've only visited in fall and winter, not on summer days (especially during the weekend or evening). Yet, what cost Jeni's a star is the price, namely the value. Yes, I will 100% admit that their ice creams are fantastic. At the same time, this comes at a very high price: 1 1/2 relatively small scoops for almost $8 feels excessive, and more like a luxury, as opposed to a place one could frequent on summer evenings.

Jessica A.

Yelp
This was a wonderful, easy event. Walked in. Immediate greetings. They offered unlimited samples (encouraged it!) and were so friendly. The ice cream speaks for itself. The flavors are so unique and wide in range. I got: the bramble berry, darkest chocolate and cookie dough. The ice cream is so creamy and rich in flavor. The scoops are generous!

Xavier Thomas M.

Yelp
Always a good time visiting a Jeni's location in the summer. This location is spacious, has a lot of room to sit, and if you don't like people near you when you sit, the seats are spaced out well! (Didn't take a picture, there were a lot of people). The lighting is always warm and inviting and the smell of the ice cream hits you as soon as you walk in. Service is great as per usual at most Jeni's and the line went by fairly quickly. We got a two mini scoop order of coffee / salted peanut butter. Always a good choice on a hot day especially on a waffle cone! Instead of affogato, I just bought cold brew on its own. Standalone, the cold brew is ok. Definitely better with ice cream but the caffeine content is not bad either. Cold brew recommended in affogato only. Side note - bathrooms in the back are clean and there's a patio in the back as well that's right next to Alley Cat Comics - two birds one stone on that idea if you have someone that's a fan of comics/manga/cards/pop culture things! Anyway, great visit!

Charmaine D.

Yelp
The place is large and bright. There were a lot of flavors to choose from. One lady was helping a couple ahead of us. Someone else came out and started helping the couple behind us. Not sure why we (me, husband, and child) got skipped. I don't like being ignored. I didn't think the ice cream was so great, especially for $7.15 a scoop! Even my 6 yr old threw put half of his. We went to their outdoor patio in the back. Unfortunately, the tables were dirty and both long ones were wobbling. We were the only ones out there, so at least we had our own private space.

Rob G.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience at Ice Cream for Breakfast! The Andersonville scoop shoppe did an excellent job of organizing the lines, handing out menus and letting us sample the new flavors. I had Breakfast Blend that consisted of Banana French Toast, Coffee with Cream & Sugar and Caramel Pecan Sticky Buns. This was a great combo and all the flavors mixed perfectly. The store itself is simple and fun. Some options for buying pints and other merchandise is nice. Will be back more!

Nazia C.

Yelp
I liked this location because there was ample seating indoors, and there's additional seating in the patio area. There's multiple restrooms as well, but the first two are kinda small. I only wish they'd told me that they offer kid sized scoops (even though the person saw I was ordering for two children), so I didn't end up paying $8 for each child!

Yelp
You can find Jeni's ice cream all over Chicago. Its rich, creamy vegan ice cream will have you asking yourself.... How is this possible??? Ice Cream: This is a dream come true! I can finally enjoy ice cream without the dairy! I'm in heaven! This being my first time enjoying vegan ice cream I tried every flavor before ordering the wild berry lavender and lemon bar. The texture of the ice cream is spot-on! It's creamy, rich, and not overly sweet or tart. Service: The ice cream here is a little pricey. But it was worth it. My friend and I ordered 2 scoops of ice cream and hers came out twice the size of mine. I pointed out the difference in serving size, and the cashier happily re-made my order. Ambiance: When you walk in you have a feeling of nostalgia. Crisp white walls and pops of color. Made me feel like a kid in a candy store. Overall: Family-friendly Vegan Ice Cream Cheerful environment Friendly service It's expensive ice cream Small serving size Addictive

Cyann L.

Yelp
Super cute shop for ice cream and very convenient as well because there was a lot of stores to check out. Ice cream was very creamy for texture, selections were unique, and their strawberry shortcake was soooo good!

Kate M.

Yelp
I'll always find a Jeni's! My parents are visiting and staying in Andersonville. After dinner, we were exploring the neighborhood when I smelled the waffle cones are knew a Jeni's was close -- the scent will always get me! This location is your standard Jeni's - bright, clean, welcoming, with a happy staff there to greet you. There was no line, so we were able to take our time and try a couple different flavors. I went with two of my favorites, brambleberry crisp and brown butter almond brittle in a waffle cone. Tried, true, and so delicious! Jeni's is pricey, but the quality, unique flavors, and yummy waffle cones are absolutely worth it.

Yelp
It was a beautiful night for some ice cream.. We came here at grabbing dinner at Parsons and enjoying the local park close by. We were lucky enough that there were only a coupler people in front of us. About a minute in, there line was out the door. The flavor of the week was the high five candy bar. We ordered our normal darkest chocolate ice cream. We did have an awesome experience where we told the server that out daughter has tree allergies. Normally, they usually just replace the scooter used as their ice cream doesn't have tree nuts. Not only did they replace the scooper they used but they actually opened a fresh new tub off ice cream for her. Unbelievable service is one of infinite reasons we continue to come back to Jeni's

Anisa F.

Yelp
Jeni's has some of the most unique ice cream and I don't think I've met a Jeni's flavor I don't like. I mean, you really can't go wrong. Ice cream? Delicious. Customer service? PATIENT and informative! Vibes? Immaculate. Pricier than your run of the mill ice cream joint, but worth every penny.

Yelp
Slow your roll, Yelp. *Laughs* I'll go ahead and churn out a review. My cousin, my niece, and I swung by here after dinner at the little Asian enclave on Argyle two weeks ago. As to why we were here differed, though: my cousin needed caffeine since she had to pick up a friend from O'Hare later that night, my niece apparently wanted to satisfy her sweet tooth, and I didn't want to go home yet and I sought out a pop fix of some sort. I must say that Jeni's is a pretty happening spot in what can be described as the quaint yet happening Andersonville neighborhood. The weather was a bit on the chilly side, but that didn't stop the slew of customers gathered here alongside us. I bet it's beyond packed when the temperature outside pushes 80, which is nothing by Texan standards. Anyway, I was stuffed from dinner and wasn't in the mood for dessert (weird, I know) so I helped myself to a bottle of Boylan Root Beer. I really dug it. Soda tastes great when it's ice cold and in a glass bottle. And the place recycles. The staff here is pretty friendly. My drink set me back close to $3 so I tipped a huge sum to show my appreciation.

Victoria W.

Yelp
I stopped by this new location for a 3 scoop signature ice cream and was very impressed with the richness and flavor of the ice creams. I think the key to enjoying Jeni's ice cream is to figure out what flavors you like best, which is why I highly recommend doing a taste test of a few flavors prior to making your selection. I ended up going with the darkest chocolate, rainbow sherbet, and the coffee and cream. I particularly enjoyed the first two flavors and would definitely order those again. I got my signature scoops of ice cream in a delicious waffle bowl and I felt that that helped to elevate the flavors of the ice cream even more.

Brandon S.

Yelp
I witnessed an employee get physically assaulted while assisting a customer here. There was no security around to speak of. Do not come here if you value enjoying your ice cream in a safe environment.

Emma S.

Yelp
I love Jeni's! The smell of the fresh waffle cones is intoxicating, and always draws me in! My favorite all around flavor is the Peanut Butter and chocolate, BUT in the summer if they still do their Orange Dream you have to try! Everyone is so friendly and nice, I love this new location in Andersonville.

Carolyn E.

Yelp
Butterscotch popcorn ice cream! And my other favorite was the berry cobbler one they had - OMG so flavorful and amazing. I'd imagine every flavor is good - I love the freshly made waffle bowls - it smells so good as soon as you walk in. Though the line is always long, it definitely goes fast. A must-stop in Chicago.

Shay R.

Yelp
I am so very happy that Jeni's moved into the neighborhood! I was really sad to see Georgie's go but having Jeni's step in to replace it was wonderful. I love that this location feels so open and airy. There is a fair amount of sitting inside but the ice cream shop is definitely made with the idea that people will pick up their ice cream and go. Like most locations they have their location displays split into two (meaning they offer the same ice cream choose at both sides) so it helps to move the line quicker. When I visited the person working that evening was very friendly. She showed as much excitement as my group did with them finally being open. She made me want to come back even during the Wintertime! The great thing about Jeni's is that they are generous with their scoops. Even if I get a single scoop I know that will be enough and typically two scoops is too much. I split a single scoop with my husband and we both felt like we were satisfied with the amount we both had. The ice cream is of course so rich and feels like they use the best ingredients. I like that Jeni's has a new flavor every so often but they always keep their most popular flavors available. My go to flavors are the brown butter almond brittle and the blackout chocolate cake! You also can't go wrong with the milkiest and darkest chocolate. Those two flavors are good to mix with a flavor that has candy in it or the honey vanilla bean to balance out the taste.

Gladis I.

Yelp
Yesterday, we went for a short walk around our neighborhood, and my wife took me for ice cream. This location was empty, so we had the leisure of taking our time to choose the flavor we wanted. We each had two scoops. My wife had hers on a cone and chose the cup. The young lady was very nice and gave me a cracker because I asked for peanuts, but due to allergy, they don't serve ice cream with any nuts. I had the boozy egg nog and chocolate scoops. Which was delicious, and my wife loved hers, too. The only problem was the scoop sizes and the very high prices. I just don't understand how a family with kids can afford these prices. I don't think they will last in this neighborhood.

Carol F.

Yelp
Love this neighborhood, very walkable and there's lots of restaurants and shops near by so you can definitely hit up Jeni's after dinner or obvs randomly after shopping. Delicious ice cream! I love their coffee with milk and sugar, their dark chocolate (sweet without being bitter), and their peanut butter with chocolate chips. I also love getting their birthday cake with sprinkles by the pint! A plus for this ice cream was that the ingredients are surprisingly clean, by that, I mean grass fed cows milk, turmeric, and no use of red dyes! Plenty of dairy free options as well! This by no means makes this ice cream "healthy tasting" aka not the same as regular ice cream. This ice cream is delicious and unique! Definitely a favorite spot!

Kaitlyn K.

Yelp
I've always liked Jeni's but the scoops are just too small to warrant the price. It totally depends on who scoops your ice cream - no consistency.

Lexi G.

Yelp
Icecream was delicious. I had a hard time deciding on a flavor and had to get two. I opted for the lavender berry and lemon bar. Both super refreshing on a hot day. The kiddos were not as big of fans of the flavors and made us make another stop for icecream.

Awasiano O.

Yelp
Best ice cream in town with multiple flavors to soothe your palate. Don't forget the great service from the team

Paula B.

Yelp
Today marked my first experience at Jeni's and wow I was impressed! First of all, the interior is adorable. Super clean, wide space, with amazing pops or colors. Artwork was impeccable! Next up service, immediately greeted and given ice cream sampler. Super nice bunch. Moving on to ice cream--Delicious! The flavors were extremely tasty but not too overwhelmingly sweet. We got the three scoop sampler of wild berry lavender, brambleberry (our favorite), and gooey butter cake. There were so many other flavors we wanted to try and saw images of seasonal ones, will definitely be coming back for our next sweet tooth craving.

Cheryl W.

Yelp
Yum! I stopped by here late in the day on a Monday. There was no line at all. I got a scoop of the brambleberry crisp, salted peanut butter with chocolate flecks, and salted caramel in a waffle cone. I will come back to this place and try other flavors.

Trice T.

Yelp
Great location and plenty of parking. Love all the flavors of ice cream and the staff are so nice. I brought a friend who's never had Jenis before and she loved it...always a fun atmosphere and you feel happier being in the store

Pete C.

Yelp
Had this ice cream before and they are opening up a new one in Andersonville. Line is long but it's for a free ice cream

Nicki C.

Yelp
Jenis never disappoints! The flavors are like no other, the quality is creamy and delicious, hate when ice cream taste like more ice than cream lol this shop is super friendly, clean, and big! New fav combo of ice cream is the darkest chocolate and salted peanut butter, it taste like a Reese peanut butter cup!!

Christina P.

Yelp
Great Jeni's location. The store is pretty large and has seating for abou a dozen at small tables. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. I also love that they've switched to more sustainable sample spoons. You can't go to Jeni's without sampling their delicious flavors. Parking can be challenging in this area. There is paid street parking or free residential parking if you're willing to walk a block tlor two.

Maria F.

Yelp
This new Jeni's location is in the perfect spot in the heart of Andersonville! Today was National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day! The staff was incredibly cheerful and helpful. The shop itself was clean and brightly lit. We had a great time going out in pajamas and having ice cream for breakfast :)

Sarah S.

Yelp
Great quality and flavors of ice cream, prompt service with folks who are very good with kids, a little pricey.

Laura S.

Yelp
Was definitely sad to hear that George's closed, but I can't think of a better ice cream store to take its place. Jeni's never disappoints- the ice cream is perfect, the customer service is super, and the shops always look well taken-care of.

Precious B.

Yelp
I stopped by this location today since I live in the area. Jeni's ice cream pints can be found at certain grocery stores and I've already tried the lavender flavor because I think lavender is such a unique flavor and I'm a sucker for flavors that aren't common when it comes to ice cream. My son got a buttercrisp waffle bowl with two scoops, milkiest chocolate and honey vanilla. It smelled lovely and tasted delicious. I can't wait to try the other flavors next time!

Sue L.

Yelp
Located in Andersonville, this Clark Street shop is beautifully decorated with triangular and colorful banners, a dining area, and an ice cream serving area. With an unusual selection of tasty ice cream flavors, there's hard working staff always ready to give guests samples. After the selection, there's waffle, cone, or cup options.

Caitlin P.

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about Sunny at this location! She is so sweet and nice and made us feel so welcome. Had the best recommendations too! Love her

M J.

Yelp
WE loved our experience at Jeni's. Sunny, helped us find the exact flavors we were looking for. We loved our experience. Thank you Jeni's! Thank you Sunny!!!

Mimi R.

Yelp
Jeni's ALWAYS hits. Even during a freezing Chicago winter. They are THAT good. Slightly pricey but tbh, worth it. Also they always have a solistice event. Favorite flavors include Froze ad the Froyo. The waffle cones are also delicious.

Andy M.

Yelp
Overpriced, small portions, bougie vibe, and staff that tries guilting you into tipping because I trust the company doesn't pay them well. Perfect example of corporate greed ruining a previously lovely independent ice cream shop (RIP George's). There's a female owned franchisee, Kilwin's, right down the block that has more flavor, larger servings, and at a great price. Support local, support quality, support the neighborhood.

Paul C.

Yelp
Nice spot to try some very well made and tasty ice cream in a bowl or a tasty cone. My tip: don't buy the to go pints they have in the freezer. You can find them at Jewels or Mariano's for $4-5 cheaper.

Mike N Anne ..

Yelp
We've been to Jeni's twice. We really enjoyed their vegan ice cream, and I don't like ice cream, so that tells you something. Really incredible flavors, but we wish the portions were bigger and that there were more than 2 options to choose from, like 5 would be nice. We will be back though..

Emily Y.

Yelp
Jeni's will always remain my favorite ice cream shop! This location in particular is huge and in a great neighborhood. Beware of entitled customers who demand that their child be able to play with the display American Girl collab ice cream truck and threaten the business when told it is a display only!! Makes for good people watching but really just pathetic to see grown adults yell at the young shift leader. Good job, Jeni's--keep it up!

Julia W.

Yelp
Can't go wrong. Friendly staff and tasty ice cream! Gooey butter cake is my favorite.
