The 10 Best Hidden Gem Restaurants in Miami | Eater Miami

"North Beach’s resident Italian restaurant has kept patrons bellies full for over twenty years. Menu highlights include the filet mignon, salmon carpaccio, and salads to start followed by pastas such as carbonara and puttanesca. Mains consist of steak, chicken, and fish served with choices of sides and dessert options are simple; cheesecake or tiramisu. George’s has an impressive wine list and a full bar to complement all meals." - Stacy Moya

How do chefs around the world prepare asparagus?

"Tucked in a restored riverside quadrangle house, Georg Jensen’s flagship restaurant serves open sandwiches and hams at lunch, but an unmistakably fine-dining menu at dinner. Nordic techniques such as smoking and curing are skilfully deployed in dishes that pack real depth in flavours and contrasts, not to mention the superb ingredients and painterly presentations." - Le Guide MICHELIN

I was in Miami traveling from Texas for business and decided to try George’s Restaurant and Lounge—and wow, I am so glad I did. This was hands down some of the most amazing Italian food I have ever had. Truly next-level. I didn’t have a reservation, so I was given the option to sit at the bar or on the patio. I chose the outdoor patio, and even though it was a very windy day, it did not affect my experience at all. The atmosphere was fantastic—relaxed, vibrant, and welcoming. My server was absolutely amazing, and the entire staff was incredibly attentive. I always ask servers for their best recommendations because I love trying new things, and the suggestions I received were things I had never tried before. Every single bite blew me away. The flavors, the quality, the presentation—everything was exceptional. I don’t drink alcohol, but I couldn’t help but notice their impressive cocktail and wine selection, which looked fantastic for those who do. I ended up splurging and trying several items, so my meal was around $70, and it was worth every single penny without question. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this place—from the food to the service to the ambiance. As an added bonus, it’s located right across from public parking, making it super easy to access. If you’re in Miami, George’s is an absolute must. I will 100% be back.

Favorite Italian restaurant in North Beach. Lunch and dinner are great. The atmosphere is elegant but still has a neighborhood feel. Always great music but on the weekends they have a DJ. For lunch love the pizza Bianca. Can sit at the bar or in the very nice restaurant or even outside. Great wine and mixed drink choices. Not so many beer choices. The staff is friendly. Pasta dishes are all fantastic even the bread is good. Some pretty good vegetarian choices also. Day or night it is the way to do Italian in North Beach.

We were looking for a special restaurant to celebrate Michael's 65th birthday. We chose George's Restaurant based on its proximity to our Hilton hotel. It did not disappoint. Ordered the osso buco. Not expecting much, we got so much more! Our waiter, Christian, anticipated our birthday celebration desires before we even articulated them. At the end of the meal, the traditional Sambuca with the three coffee beans was present and my husband thought I ordered it. I had to admit, no? I didnt! The delicious food and attention to detail will bring us back!

We came on a Wednesday night — the place is really nice for a date night. At first, they forgot to bring us the menu, but that was okay. The bread starter arrived and it was delicious. I ordered the lobster ravioli, which was amazing — I would definitely come back for that dish. My husband’s dish, on the other hand, was a pasta with Alfredo sauce and chicken, but the chicken came burnt and he couldn’t even eat it. The pasta itself was very good. The staff were friendly and treated us well, but I felt like some details were missing. They took a while to ask how the food was, and when they finally did and we mentioned the burnt chicken, the response was that it was grilled that way. The sparkling water was warm, and although we asked for ice, I missed having them refill it without us having to ask every time. As for dessert, we ordered a lava cake — it wasn’t bad, but it was more like a regular cake rather than that gooey, molten center you expect. Overall, the experience wasn’t bad, but it did fall short in some areas.

Google
What a wonderful place! This restaurant is a true gem — both the service and the food deserve 5 stars. Luigi, our server, treated us like family. He was incredibly attentive and always ready to help with anything we needed. I'm from Chicago, but whenever I'm in Miami Beach, I'll definitely be coming back to George's.

Visiting from New York and stopped in on a whim — got seated right at the bar. I had the spaghetti alla carbonara and a Hugo spritz, both excellent and fairly priced. The servers were super friendly too. Definitely coming back!

My wife (Miriam) and I have been customers of George's for many years. In 2022, we celebrated Miriam's 63rd birthday at George's with friends. In 2022, Santi, was our server. We returned last night for dinner to celebrate Miriam's 66th birthday knowing that Santi is now the manager. Congratulations Santi! Our server last night was Rosa. Excellent service! Thank you Rosa. Santi, our food was delicious as always. Miriam had the veal chop special (huge!), and I had my usual: lobster ravioli. The surprise of the evening was when the wait staff came to our table to sing happy birthday to Miriam when Santi served the complimentary piece of tiramisu. Thanks Santi too for the complimentary glasses of champagne. George's will continue to shine with Santi at the helm. Mark P.S. Last week we moved from South of Fifth back to North Beach. Miriam and I will now visit George's more often.

A Hidden Gem for True Italian Lovers This Tuesday was a treat us we were on our first date for the month. At our neighborhood Italian spot, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming—perfect for a relaxed evening with good food and wine. Luigi our server started us off with the sweetbread piccata, which was absolutely outstanding—tender, delicate, and perfectly balanced with that bright lemon-caper sauce. For my main course, I went with the veal chop, cooked flawlessly: juicy inside with a beautiful sear on the outside, full of rich flavor. I also tried the ravioli, which tasted like it came straight from a nonna’s kitchen—fresh pasta with a filling that was both light and satisfying. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the wine recommendations paired perfectly with the meal. It’s clear the chef here truly cares about quality and authenticity. This place is a real neighborhood treasure—elegant food without any pretension. I’ll definitely be coming back soon

Yelp
Spent 5 days in Miami and ate at lots of places. This was, by far, my favorite place to eat! This is an upscale restaurant that still has reasonable prices which is not easy to find in Miami! Warm bread on the table to start and they give you a little bowl of bruschetta to put on the bread. It was fabulous! Lots to choose from on the menu and then also specials. Our server was great and answered all our questions. He also made great recommendations. Great service overall! Everyone loved their meals. I got the fettuccine ai frutti di mare. I got it in the lobster cream sauce. The sauce was delicious. I could not stop eating my food. It was sooo good!! Needless to say, I was too stuffed for dessert. Highly recommend coming here if you are in the area. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
I can't believe I've never been here since I moved to Miami 16 years ago. This place has been open since 2000 in North Bay Village serving fine Italian cuisine and I'm telling you, this place is legit! The dining area is modern and clean. We especially adored the chandelier centerpiece. It's gorgeous! Now let's talk about the food starting the Carpaccio. Wow. This was probably the best one I've tried. We also orderd the Burrata. Super fresh and the Prosciutto was delicious. Also, the Arancinis were to die for. As for the main course, we shared the Rib Eye Steak Special and the Black Linguine All Vongole. The steak was perfectly cooked. Good quality cut and juicy. The pasta was also well prepared. Al dente noodle and the sauce was just right. We also saved room for dessert and their Chocolate Lava Cake hit the spot. Fresh, warm, gooey. Just an explosion of flavor. I love this place. Now that I finally experienced the service and quality food, I would come back. Big thanks to our server. He was very knowledgeable and super friendly. Parking was also easy. There's plenty of street parking or park at the public lot righ across the street. Parking is free after 6 I think.

Yelp
We are in Miami on vacation and found this gem online! Our server Christian was amazing and all the staff were extremely attentive! The ambiance was relaxing and elegant. The food was phenomenal and I wish I could have this restaurant near me so that I could try everything on the menu.

Yelp
I accidentally stumbled upon George's Restaurant & Lounge while heading to another Italian restaurant, and it was possibly one of the best decisions I've made in a while because my dining experience at George's was outstanding! I could primarily focus on their great food offerings, however, good food is usually easier to find in my opinion than great overall service. Therefore, I'll be highlighting the great door to door service I received at George's Restaurant & Lounge because it was truly phenomenal. Upon entering this establishment, their hostess was slightly backed up, however, she was very kind and did a great job of quickly bouncing back and keeping their waitlist organized. After waiting in the sitting area next to their bar for roughly 10 minutes (which I honestly didn't mind due to how comfortable it was), I was seated outside on a rather brisk night due to the inside of the restaurant being full. After being seated near the street, I requested to be relocated to a table with a heat lamp since it was rather chilly outside. Both the waitress and busser accommodated me immediately with genuine smiles. After changing tables, I enjoyed some more tasty bread with the great olive oil and diced tomato based sauce they brought to the table. My soup, which had egg and spinach in it, arrived shortly after being order and it was a great recommendation! My entree, which was Black Linguine Alla Vongole, exceeded my expectations and I would honestly order it again because it was truly a great dish. In summary, if you're ever in the area, be sure to stop by George's Restaurant & Lounge, even if it's just for a drink or light bite to eat. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
This is one of my favorites restaurants in the neighborhood. The food and service great. Plenty of outdoor seating. A public parking lot across the street.

Yelp
This place! Oh my goodness, deliciousness! The food was impeccable. From the fresh bread to the homemade pastas and killer pizza, it was all good! The service was next level too!

Yelp
Too many other places that will appreciate your business without being rude. We dine locally often but wanted to try a different place, we were treated like tourists. The Bread stick bag was open and almost empty when served. The Branzino that was served look nothing like the pictures , it looked like a half portion for $32.95 NO THANK YOU.Unfortunately the manager wasn't in yet while we were there. It's in a good location and has a nice atmosphere. The chicken parm was very thin and bland.

Yelp
George's Restaurant in Surfside is a true gem that exudes a cozy Italian family atmosphere. The service here is exceptional - the servers were not only friendly but also incredibly attentive to every detail. Initially, as a vegan, I had some concerns about finding suitable options on the menu. The team at George's went above and beyond to accommodate my dietary needs. I had an absolutely fantastic meal and ordered the Ensalada Verde salad, which I customized by substituting Gorgonzola for avocado. They also have a vegetarian pizza that can be customized during lunchtime. They also offered to create a special pasta dish for me. While it's true that traditional Italian restaurants often don't prominently feature vegan options on their menus, I believe that this could be an area for potential improvement. Clear labeling of vegan items could make the dining experience even better. George's Restaurant is a place where you not only enjoy delicious Italian cuisine but also experience the warmth of genuine hospitality!

Yelp
Update: We've been coming to George's consistently for more than 8-9 years now, and we've absolutely loved it. However, we tried to go to George's on a Saturday evening for dinner around 7:30 and walked in and the host stand was very cold and rude in welcoming us. They asked how they could help us and we asked for a table of 2 and they asked if we had a reservation and we said no. And they seemed almost offended. And they offered us a table outside (while it was in the upper 80s), and when we asked for a table inside the hostess rolled her eyes and said well we're busy right now (restaurant was 75% empty). We have reservations possibly coming in soon. We told her we could wait, we're fine doing so. And she rolled her eyes and she was like well it will probably be more than an hour. So we left, and probably won't come back after being customers for so long. We left, walked a block and went to Cafe Prima Pasta, who sat us within 20 minutes, and treated us with respect from the time that we walked in the door to the time we left.

Yelp
Excellent neighborhood restaurant with good service and good healthy portions and easy parking. Great value and quality. Nice for a quiet dinner or date. Upscale place. Parking is easy near there as it's free after 6pm whether on the streets nearby or the large parking lot.

Yelp
I visit this place a lot when I'm in the area and this is by far one of my favorite carpaccios. I usually order the pear ravioli but this time I ordered the mushroom truffle ravioli. It was good but there's just something g about pear ravioli that I love!
google avatar

Shikira H.

Yelp
Mother's Day eve dinner plans were made at George's. We had no reservations so it was about a 45 minute wait but well worth it. The host was not as attentive to getting us a table so we opted to sit at the bar for which the head tender took good care of us. Our old fashions were made very well and did his best to bring our food out quickly despite the busy evening he was having. The food choices were on point. Calamari, skirt steak and crème brûlée. Couldn't have asked for a better evening and company with plans to be back soon.

Yelp
First time here.( Two nights ago) Here on vacation from So Cal. 6 minute walk from our Airbnb. Had a wonderful time!! Beautiful ambience. Atmosphere very romantic. But good for families as well. George our bartender/server was very personable and attentive. Food was absolutely DELICIOUS!! Some of the best Italian food I've ever experienced. Complimentary Bruschetta with each meal. A real "CLASS ACT." Loved it so much,...we're going back tonight!!

Yelp
We have been wanting to dine at George's for several months and finally made it yesterday. What a wonderful dining experience! Delicious Italian food! Great service! Easy parking! No waiting in line! We ordered the appetizer Arancinis, which were two large size meatballs filled with Filet Mignon pieces and risotto and a delicious marinara sauce. Very good! Then our Lobster Ravioli with the most delicious creamy lobster sauce arrived. The Lobster pieces were large and tasty, not mini pieces that you cannot taste or see. I can't say enough good things about it. Yummy would be one thing to say tho. After that, the entree, Osso Busco with Risotto was brought to our table. The piece de resistance! Excellent! Luckily, we were able to split our meals onto our own plates and had food left over for home. We had just enough room in our stomachs to split a Tiramisu, which was out of this world good. We wish to commend LORENA, our very sweet and attentive server for doing an excellent job of making our experience a welcome one and very pleasing! We will definitely be returning to our new favorite Italian restaurant very soon!

Yelp
Staying nearby so we were looking for a restaurant within walking distance to our hotel. George's was a mile walk but worth it! The lobster ravioli was so good I forgot to take a pic until I was almost done! Felt underdressed in capris and flip flops but nobody seemed to mind. Service was great and so was the food!
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and great ambience along with excellent service. The portions were large and the flavors were on point.

Yelp
Food was authentic and service was impressive. Portions were slightly small for what you pay but nothing to cry about. Simple menu, cozy ambiance ample seating!

Suzanne H.

Yelp
First impression is everything/ rude host was the first thing we noticed!!! Uncaring and bossy to customers?!! Customer service was poor at Al levels. Small place not a pretty environment and food is whatever. With no true asset the last thing you want is a bad customer service!!
google avatar

Yelp
I enjoyed a pleasurable dinner at the bar at George's on a Sunday night. The bartender John was very nice to me. I ordered a pasta dish with grilled chicken. I liked how they immediately brought me some fresh warm rolls with bruschetta and olive oil/vinegar on the side. It was a nice touch. I ate my whole dish. This is a nice solid neighborhood place with a chill vibe. PS--The happy hour offers one drink free if you buy one first.

Yelp
Hands down George's is my favorite Italian restaurant on Miami Beach. Every time I visit it's been amazing, the food is consistent, the service is attentive and it's a family friendly setting. I visited George's with my family to celebrate a late birthday dinner. Our server was made aware that it was my birthday and he took it upon himself to present me with a piece of Tiramisu with a candle to sing happy birthday. This attitude of going above and beyond for their customers is ALWAYS appreciated and for that I want to thank our server Nick. In addition, he knew the menu very well and was able to answer all my questions directly. The food tasted and looked fresh and delicious. I'm not a chef however in comparison to other Italian restaurants in Miami Beach George's is more authentic and it's not solely a pasta menu. They have a wide variety of typical Italian cuisine which doesn't contain pasta, which stands out because I can make pasta at home. Overall I highly recommend George's and you can expect to see me there again!
google avatar

Julissa B.

Yelp
George's is our local restaurant to go. The food is always good, actually they serve the best Osobuco I've had. It has a family atmosphere and god staff. Prices are reasonable. We've been coming to George's for over six years now and we've never been disappointed.
google avatar

Misty D.

Yelp
Delicious!!! Very nice people, I came in very under dressed for a lunch and the staff couldn't have been nicer. I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Mica L.

Yelp
I appreciate them being open late, hospitable, & the food was good. This was actually a 4th choice, but it was a good restaurant thankfully. I liked the ambiance & the music. It was really chill, & is located at a great spot for people watching.

Yelp
(3.5 Stars) Came to George's for dinner with the girls before a show in Miami Beach. We've never been here but I had it bookmarked and they had a great rating and the atmosphere we were looking for. The beach parking across the street is the best parking for the area. It's free after 6pm you just have to fight with people leaving the beach to snag a spot around dinner time. This is definitely a higher end establishment but with very reasonable menu prices considering the area. The staff and service was really great as well. I ordered the tuna appetizer which was very fresh and delicious. I also ordered the filet mignon special with a side of vegetables. That's where things fell a bit short for me. The steak was cut way too thick and thus was not cooked to my specifications - way too rare. I was also told there would be an aged cheddar "crust" on top but when I got the plat it honestly looked like they slapped two craft singles on top and barely cooked them. Definitely an afterthought. Needless to say I didn't eat the cheese and picked it off. The side of "veggies" was also just a bowl of roasted vegetable scraps. Was not impressed. I gave them a better rating than I wanted because the rest of the food was great and the service was above average. I can't eat pasta or grains so this was my only food option that I could have on the menu so needless to say I left a little disappointed considering the amount of money I spent on my portion of the meal. Their wine selection was pretty good but I'm not sure I would come out of my way to dine here again.
google avatar

Elsa L.

Yelp
La comida es fatal, pedí un osobucco, acompañado de un risotto que parecía un arroz con salsa, duro y nada cremoso.
google avatar

Andrew L.

Yelp
Walked in with a legitimate 5 pound service dog. They wanted us to sit at the high top in the bar area with a seven year old boy. Not their nice dining room . My opinion it was discriminatory. We left. Just moved to this neighborhood . We won't ever give them our businesses.

Ashley C.

Yelp
Best food and ambiance in Miami Beach, you need to stop here while you visit, if you want to feel special? The service at this place is THE BEST ask for Rosa, she will make you feel like home

Yelp
I absolutely loved this restaurant. It's open late, the weather is always warm enough to sit outside, and the ambiance is just perfect! We sat outside, but the interior of the restaurant looked so comfortable and so vibey so I would recommend trying to get a seat inside. The meal comes with complimentary bread and bruschetta which was very tasty. I ordered Fettuccine Alfredo w/ shrimp: honestly hands down one of the best Alfredo pastas I've ever had. The portion was perfect, and the pasta itself was great! Sauce was creamy but not too heavy and seasoned. 9.5/10 (don't give 9s out too often but this was well deserved).

Susan D.

Yelp
One of my favorite local Italian restaurants! Food is always good and very convenient from my house!
google avatar

Stacy S.

Yelp
It's a regular for me, family and friends. Food is always good and consistent and staff is great!

Zaden D.

Yelp
Great Italian food and even better service. I had the Mushroom Truffle Ravioli and it was delicious. We had Fedrigo(hope that's spelled right) and he's one of the best waiters I've had. Very attentive and clearly passionate about his job and the food, with a good sense of humor. Definitely recommend, and if they aren't too busy, ask for Fedrigo!

Yelp
Excellent & authentic Italian restaurant in Miami Beach. Service, ambiance & food are top notch. Pastas & desserts taste homemade. Must try.

Yelp
If you're looking for good Italian food and the best espresso martinis look no further. The atmosphere is perfect, the lighting is everything. Martin makes amazing cocktails and makes sure you have a good time. All of the food is fantastic, I've never left disappointed. I love their salads (sometimes I cheat and order one for delivery when I make dinner at home), chicken parm is fantastic....all the pastas WOW! 10/10 love!

Yelp
Top notch Argentinian restaurant and right next to the beach. If you want some traditional Argentinian dishes then this is the place for you.

Yelp
This is definitely a spot to hangout in Miami! The service & food is outstanding!! This place has a real Miami vibe with servers being all over you!!! One thing you do not need to worry is to get enough attention. The food was delicious, hot and made to the perfection! You can taste how fresh it is and the chef is always going an extra mile! The Italian wines, beer and sparkling water - so delicious! It greatly accompanies the food! You must try BIRRA ITALIA beer and ABBAZIA ROSE !!! Sooo good !!! The risotto meatballs and tuna tartare is to die for! The flavors merge together and lights up your taste palate! The branzino accompanied with grilled vegetable taste like was just caught and cooked up the chef! The lemon sauce enriches the flavors!! The bisteca was done to perfection and melt in ones mouth! I cannot wait to go to Georgo's again! Amazing place, awesome staff, and outstanding food & Italian drinks !!!

The food was amazing and the stuff were outstanding. Super friendly and fast service. I never had to call them to my table they were on the ball

Yelp
So far, the best food we've had in Miami Beach has been Italian. The gnocchi was perfectly flavored with a bold bolognese, and the tiramisu was subtly sweet and creamy. Perfect comfort meal!

Yelp
We were in Miami for a conference and stayed over for our anniversary. Was looking for a local place with great food, charm, and a nice spot to enjoy one conversation and reminisce. George's checked all the boxes. They set us up with a nice table and we're great hosts. Food was excellent. Ask about the mozzarella Milanese ... wow. Had an amazing evening.

Randy S.

Yelp
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at George's 300 72nd St Miami Beach .The setting is beautiful. We sat outside at a table with tufted chairs and a couch. The service was impeccable and our server Joaquin was perfect. The meal started with complementary warm bread and bruschetta. Veal Milanese and Chicken Picatta were excellent. We would absolutely come back. I rate this restaurant 5 stars.

Yelp
Went to George's on a Friday night and had no idea what to expect, was meeting friends from out of town who were staying at a hotel nearby and they picked the place for dinner. Of course for a Friday it was buzzing, the patio outside and restaurant inside was super full and we did have a 35-min wait, but it was alright. The music, lighting, table setting, everything was gorgeous! I love Italian food so I was pretty excited to eat here, and for Miami Beach the price was really great. The bread brought out in the beginning is SO good and I had the lasagna for dinner. For me the portion was on the big side so I took a box home, but it was so, so good and came out piping hot. Will definitely be going back, but maybe not at 8 pm on a Friday night.
