Speakeasy-style bar with cocktails, fancy bites & a vintage look below the Life Hotel.
"Gibson + Luce, the bar downstairs at Henry at the Life Hotel, is doing away with the pomp and circumstance of its password-entry system, reopening on Friday as merely a cocktail bar rather than a secret speakeasy. It has a new drink menu, overseen by beverage director Pam Wiznitzer, that focuses on large format drinks. Eater Young Gun bartender Dorothy Elizabeth is behind the bar along with head bartender Luis Hernandez, who previously worked at Seamstress and The Eddy. Some of the items from chef JJ Johnson’s menu upstairs will be available." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya
"What It Is: A small cocktail bar in the basement of the Life Hotel Perfect For: Date Night Below Henry, there’s a cocktail bar called Gibson + Luce. It’s in the basement of the Life Hotel, and when we came for a drink the other night, it was pretty slow. The cocktails were pretty decent, although the bartender’s blowtorch went out, so he had to use a candle to light our garnish on fire. Also, the music was a little loud. Other than that, your parents would probably like this place. The Verdict: A good spot for a nice, low-key drink near MSG." - Hannah Albertine, Bryan Kim, Katherine Lewin, Hillary Reinsberg, Chris Stang
"Gibson + Luce is a cocktail bar in the bottom of the Life Hotel, and it’s the sort of place where you can grab a drink with your boss or a relative who’s visiting from out of town. It’s a dark little space feels like a country club lounge, the cocktails are pretty decent, and you can either sit at a table along the wall or get a seat at the bar. Maybe bring a date here if you’re meeting up around 31st Street, or stop by with your parents after you all go to see Billy Joel at MSG." - Bryan Kim
"Life Hotel has added Gibson & Luce, a cocktail speakeasy with bar snacks like goose fat potato knishes and merguez meatball pizza." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya
