"GRAHAM ELLIOT: We long for the days of the original Graham Elliot. That’s not to say the Bistro isn’t good. It’s kind of like Mighty Ducks 2 – good as far as sequels go, but not the original. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

"Gideon Sweet, a restaurant collaboration between Graham Elliot and Matthias Merges, has closed. It focused on small plates and was designed as a spot for brief stops along Randolph Street. The location has seen several iterations, including Graham Elliot Bistro, which opened in 2012, closed, and reopened briefly in 2016 before closing again. The space is now potentially up for grabs as a prime piece of West Loop real estate." - Ashok Selvam

"Gideon Sweet is a relaxing experience that boasts “mostly well-executed dishes and intriguingly nuanced cocktails” according to Maggie Hennessy. She starts with the Green Lady cocktail, a drink that’s the “luscious, drinkable essence of a bowl of fresh fruit.” The potato spiral is another can’t miss — a skewered, twice-fried Kennebec potato with “the pleasing crunch of an extra-thick chip” and served with a “delicious” dip — and warm king crab is an “impeccable selection of sweet, tender leg meat drenched in luscious uni butter.” To finish, a nostalgic apple tart paired with cheddar and brie ice cream oozes “just enough creamy, salty tang to make that sugary tart sing.”" - Jeffy Mai

The food is soooooo good!!! We only ordered off the appetizer list and were full to contentment. They are extremely accommodating and take into account all food sensitivity and allergies. We had the seadoned Tofu ( I don't usually like but delish), the cauliflower, the crispy potatoes, the avocado hummus, and the beignets. Everything was heavenly. To top it off, my friend is dairy free gluten free and they had a special dessert not on the menu that was reserved solely for her peeps 😁😁😁. Highly recommended!!!

I like Gideon Sweet. I've gone a couple times now for appetizers and cocktails which are great. They seem to have a good bar program here. My plan is to return this summer to experience the outside patio and dinner!

I honest hate to give low reviews, but the food just isn't there. The waitor suggested 6-8 plates to share for my date and I, but how do you share a 3in tostada? Or a single meatball and a 1/4 papadum? Food was pretty bland and we ended up getting pizza around the corner.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great times. My wife and I dined here and split 3 "plates." The sweet pea risotto, the rabbit schnitzel, and the filet stroganoff. We also had dessert. She got the root beer float, I got the banana split. We also had cocktails. Everything was cooked to perfection. And our night was made perfect with Graham Elliot visiting our table and taking pictures! When it was all said and done, we spent $110. A little steep for some perhaps, but well worth a great night on the town.

I hate giving it three stars. I'm a huge fan of Graham Elliot. I loved GE Bistro. I wanted to love this...but the food just isn't there. It tasted good, it was fine...but nothing wow, nothing made us want more. The cocktail menu for being cocktail forward needed more depth. We only spent $140, but didn't walk away thinking we would return soon...and I hate saying that. I know Graham's genius gos far beyond this

Coming to this restaurant is truly a beautiful experience! The waitstaff were very helpful and knowledgeable, and I loved being able to interact with the chefs! Both the waitstaff and the chefs checked up on me and my date constantly throughout the night to make sure that we were having a great time, and that's a kind of friendly and appreciative type of customer service that can't be obtained anywhere else. And getting the delicious food and wine that we received, as well as being in a wonderfully designed atmosphere was even more of a highlight to a fantastic night.

I had a similar experience to one of the earlier reviewers, Kate, below. I was excited to finally try Graham’s newest restaurant upon its opening month. Our party of 3 shared half a dozen plates, bottle of wine, and dessert, and weren’t wowed by any of them. All were incredibly salty and underwhelming. In fact, the only dish we did love was the fried beet spirals, which is embarrassingly easy to make. We tried the king crab, which is literally half or third of a leg no more than 3” long, plated with some sauce for $20. There’s a reason why you can get a table here the night of on Friday or Saturday. Get a cocktail if you must but then walk over for dinner at Maude’s, Elske, Avec, Lena Brava, etc. for a fulfilling dining experience.

First of all, the lobsters were too fishy and smells bad. The waitress said that the meetball is her favourite its sucks 4 small meatballs with bechamel sauce no seasoning at all. The only dishes we loved that day was the spiral potatoes and the avocado humus. Iam really a fan of Graham Elliot but i was shocked that this is the quality of food on his restaurant.
