Yelp
I've been here before as a guest of the restaurant, as well as the bar as an after-party site, but I recently had the pleasure of staying here as a hotel guest. Looks like it is a Thompson Hotel, part of the Hyatt brand management. Gild Hall is a boutique hotel in New York City, a little bit more upscale and sexier than a typical middle-America chain. Check-in was smooth, service with a smile, and we were offered complimentary glasses of Prosecco... A nice touch of New York City class. Hubs and I stayed on the second floor; interestingly, we actually had to take the elevator to the upstairs restaurant, and walkthrough to a secret door leading to the hotel side, to which there's only a few on our floor.
We stayed in a King bed room on the 2nd floor, and the room itself was quite sexy. Leather headboards, leather furniture, and dark wooden fixtures and doors give it an old speakeasy feel. The ceilings were cathedral height, with a huge circular light fixture above the bed. Mini bar is available for an extra charge, and a small sensor light turned on when moving near it, which was convenient if you're grabbing something in the closet at night. The toiletries smelled citrusy and lovely, and the bathroom was very clean & modern. The hotel is walkable to South Street Seaport, Fi-Di, NYSE, the Ferry, and multiple subway stations. Bar and brunch options within the hotel are convenient, depending on if you want to pre-game or looking for a hangover cure.
Some of the cons to be noted:
Given that we were on the 2nd floor, our view from the window face another building. Also, a tip (having live on Wall St years ago reminded me): due to the proximity of the buildings near you and the narrow streets, you likely won't be able to see sunshine from your room if you're on a lower floor. If you're one of those folks that need the morning light to wake you up, open the blinds before heading to sleep. Sadly, The walls were quite thin, as I was able to hear when someone in the next room turned the shower on! Unfortunately, you can also hear all the trucks on the street backing up in the middle of the night! Lastly, the bathroom comes with towels for single occupancy only, you'll have to ask for more if needed. No floormat towel, either, which makes stepping out of the shower and on to the cold marble floor a little slipper and dangerous (we ended up using the hand towel).
