Glass Hostaria

"In the heart of popular Trastevere with its many restaurants, Glass comes as a surprise, housed in what was once a coach-house (as the high ceilings still demonstrate) and now an elegant restaurant (if you want more privacy, there are a few tables set up on the mezzanine). Cristina Bowerman offers a choice of tasting menus (one of which is vegetarian) and a limited selection of à la carte dishes. Her cuisine is creative, with the occasional nod to the culinary traditions of Lazio. The excellent wine list also includes a choice of liqueurs and spirits." - Michelin Inspector

10/10 — Bravo. A must-try experience! From the moment you enter, you’re welcomed into a space that perfectly blends modern elegance with earthy warmth — tall exposed timber ceilings, textured brickwork, sleek ambient lighting, and comforting air conditioning. The staff’s greeting was warm and professional. I was promptly seated and presented with the wine list and menu. Unfortunately, I couldn’t drink wine due to a minor head cold, but the staff’s suggestions and explanations were excellent. (As an Australian, I really appreciated the English — it made everything seamless.) I chose the “Glass Tasting Menu”, which you can tailor with substitutions from the vegetarian menu — the flexibility was very much appreciated. And the food? Absolutely unforgettable!! What truly sets Glass Hostaria apart is the attention to detail, the depth of flavour through different ingredients, and the creative uniqueness of every dish. I felt like there was a story being told by the kitchen …. And I was very happy to be included. The first appetiser and first course are eaten by hand, (I personally love this), a touch that draws you closer to the ingredients and sets the tone! (I should add, the remaining meals are eaten with cutlery). As the courses continued (and my waistline expanded…), the experience only got better. The Chef’s Pasta and the lamb were absolute standouts — dishes I’ll be dreaming about long after I leave Rome. Having dined at other Michelin-starred restaurants across Europe and London, I can confidently say Glass Hostaria genuinely stood out. It’s not just technically excellent — it’s been a memorable experience…. And for me, that’s what dining should be! I wish we could return… but our journey continues. I sincerely hope we meet again. Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Vibe 10/10 Grazie mille per un’esperienza fantastica.

We had a great experience, the food was really good, we ordered the lobster, that one is a must!! and also the ravioli with truffle. Both were amazing. The wine list is quite long but the staff guided us really well. The service was awesome, the only downward was the pâté en croute, very flat but they nicely didn’t charge it. Also we had a table upstairs and the view was quite boring. I think downstairs you can have a better experience. Overall I highly recomend this place

Google
If I could give this restaurant service an 11/10 I would, our flight got delayed and they were able to accommodate changing our booking for a later time, once we got there everyone was amazing especially Virginia and Ricardo ❤️ starting off on such a high note the food truly exceeded expectations. A modern take on Italian food but not a pretentious restaurant at all, would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for anyone coming to visit Rome. The pork neck was a highlight and the ravioli amitriciana was unreal.

Google
Had an opportunity to try their chefs special tasting menu and it was definitely one of the best Michelin ⭐️ meals I’ve had. Each dish was carefully curated for our taste pallet and the wine pairings were perfect. The staff were super friendly and joyful throughout the meal.

Google
This tasting menu showcased a perfection of Italian fusion and is one of my favorites to date! Each course had us saying to ourselves that we wish could have it again, Chef Cristina is a master of her cuisine. Complemented by a stunning dining space and charismatic staff, our waiter Fabio took excellent care of us. This is a spot I would easily return too and try their Al La Carte options.

Google
This place was amazing from the food to the presentation to the atmosphere. The Michelin Chef even came up to us and thanked us for coming in. They sat us as a walk in which is typically unheard of but I’m so happy they did. The ravioli was to die for and same with the desserts. Such an amazing first Michelin experience for my wife and I and we’re extremely thankful!

Google
The sashimi and Ravioli were very good. A couple of other dishes were bland. The bread was good. But should’ve been sliced not quartered

Google
The risotto was really impressive and my partner loved beef tartar part of the meal. Also chickpea peanut bite appetiser and soup with scallop was nice. I had veggie gluten free set menu, my partner did meat one. The wine pairing was average. Really liked the restaurant vibes. I would go back only if I am craving for a perfect risotto.

Yelp
Most likely one of the best culinary experiences of my life. The service was top tier and the food presentation overall something I will never forget.

Yelp
So I never thought I was really not appreciate a Michelin star restaurant but here I am. The place is beautiful. The service is awesome. But the food is weak. Had to get the preset menu. Started with fish which was ok. Then it went down hill. For the price and the taste thus place is a big miss. Unfortunately.

Yelp
A decent meal but for $109 euros a bit over the top. Highlights were the margarita bomb starter, the truffle ravioli and the pork belly and the popcorn ice cream panna cotta desert , super yummy! The two starter crackers on beans was not exciting. Fish dishes were ok but a touch of fishy taste was detected and plating was a little sloppy. Service was decent for lunch but it wasn't spectacular for a Michelin spot. With the wine pairing only 4 glasses it was $190 usd... not sure if it was worth it.

Yelp
Telegraph: It's not easy to find a good place to eat in Trastevere - so hats off to Cristina Bowerman's Michelin-starred culinary fiefdom, which strikes a blow for quality and research in an area dominated by tourist trattorias. As soon as you walk in, you see how far they are from all those Chianti-in-straw-flask clichés: this is a militantly modern reign of glass, steel, Corten and brick, where every dish is served on its own appropriate designer plate. If you're a first timer it's worth opting for one of the tasting menus, which showcase Bowerman's fancy but convincing Mediterranean fusion approach. On my last visit the mousse of basil-spiked mozzarella served with a nugget of panzanella romana bread salad and a slice of air-dried onion was a mouthful of summer - and that was just an off-menu amuse-bouche. n March 2017, Bowerman opened a hip new venue in the Testaccio district, Romeo & Giuiletta, with Roman deli king, Massimo Roscioli. Me, I prefer Glass - by miles. Reservations strongly suggested No outdoor dining

Yelp
Glass Hostaria definitely earns its Michelin Star. The restaurant is an interesting two-story building with lots of glass, and tables were spaced out widely on both floors. The tasting menu was reasonably priced, and most importantly, featured literally the pasta I have ever eaten in my life! Ravioli filled with 5-year aged Parmesan cheese and topped with incredibly fragrant black truffles, this dish was astounding. Other dishes, including perfectly cooked pasta rolled with sweet shrimp inside, pork belly, foie gras, and passion fruit in corn cob shape with ice cream dessert were also all well made and delicious. The service was fine and I liked the wine pairing, but the time between courses was excessively long for some reason, so had to knock of a star. The chef came to great us at the beginning of the meal, which was very kind and considerate.

Yelp
This was our second trip to Glass Hostaria in the past ten years. At the time the restaurant had not received a Michelin star, but now it has. Sorry to say, from our perspective, the food was better ten years ago than it is today. Our menu included the cheese stuffed ravioli, the lamb sumac, the shrimps ravioli and the squid ink scampi. All were good, but not Michelin star worthy. I don't expect there will be a third visit.

Yelp
Disappointing experience in that the quality of the food didn't match the price points or accolades. I have dined at many Michelin star and Top 50 restaurants around the world and the food and service are not on the same league. The staff was very friendly but it seemed only one waitress and the manager/co-owner where working the front of the house. The chef, Christina Bowerman, was in Dakar and Paris this week. The cocktail bomb was fun. It is hard to view an extensive wine list with a QR code. The Raviolini Parmigiano with mushrooms where fantastic but the portion was so small. For an entree, the portion should have been three times the size. The desserts of crema cotta and Frangipane where alright...not Michelin-star awesome. More vegetarian options would be nice. The restaurant is a little hard to find at night. Better exterior signing would be helpful. Beautiful interior design. There is so much amazing food in Roma.... infoglasshosteria@gmail.com or www.glasshosteria.it

Yelp
Amazing last dinner in Italy. We did the 90 euro prix fixe. Every course was beautifully presented, and more importantly delicious. The dishes are quite modern and not heavy at all. My favourite was definitely the tartare, it was perfectly balanced and unique. Would recommend if it is within your budget. We also came at 7:30 on a Sunday. Restaurant was quite empty and so wouldn't need a reservation.

Yelp
Please try the plethora of wonderful Roman restaurants all around Trastevere and the rest of the city before you waste any money here. I'd call the food adequate for a 1 Michelin star tasting menu. The drink pairing was fairly anemic in terms of pours. Where they really failed was service. First few courses passed normally but things went south when my wife (a black woman) walked inside from our patio table and asked where the bathroom is. The waiter (pink hair) accused her of walking in off the street to use the bathroom. Terrible. After that extremely large gaps in time began to pass between courses. The 8 course tasting menu ended up taking close to 4 hours in the end. While we sat unattended, the pink haired waiter who was rude to my wife took the time to come outside, have a polite conversation with a group of ladies who showed up, then served them a round of drinks in front of us while they waited for a table and we waited for a dessert that didn't arrive for another 10 minutes. We had to wait a further 20 minutes in the end while their card system "rebooted" to pay for our €400+ euro meal. Cherry on top.

Yelp
Came here for a Michelin starred experience by Cristina Bowerman, the only female chef to achieve the award in 2010. We were not disappointed. The service was excellent to match the food! My friend is vegetarian and they offered a 7 course tasting menu for her. I did the regular tasting menu. Both were fantastic, creative and beautiful! The amuse bouche was a white chocolate hollow sphere and inside was pisco. It was served to be taken as a shot, on a tiny mound of brown sugar and exploded in you mouth as you bit into it! The second amuse bouche was a mini arepa with lemon goat cheese filling, served in a glass bell cloche over raw black beans for effect. My first course was almond gazpacho with lychees and shaved foie gras. Sounded like an interesting combination, but it was heavenly. Second course was beef tartare, poached egg and Italian ham. Also delicious, but there was a hint of citrus zest in the mayo- not my fav. Third course was veal tongue pastrami, ciauscolo (sausage), a tiny dollop of mustard seed ice cream (yum!) pickled veggie, and aromatic greens, served with a mini bun for you to construct a sandwich. Fourth course was scented sumac mini roasted rack of lamb, crispy chicory, stilton cheese, morel mushrooms, fennel and red & golden beets. Medium rare to perfection! Phew! We were getting full at this point, so I whipped out my wooden leg to stuff more food down my gullet! Fifth course was amatriciana stuffed pasta, pecorino cheese and crispy guanciale- my favorite of all! Sixth course was a sweetbreads, wild cherries, and light soy sauce "predessert." It was also fantastic! Finally, my seventh course was condensed milk, espresso jelly and Bailey's ice cream in a sugar art basket! Truly a meal fit for a queen. The dining space is clean and modern, glass, wood & metal. The restrooms are unisex, individually rooms, common sink. The menu also lists an extensive legend marking dishes that might coincide with an individual's food allergies. I posted pics of my meal, in order, then the menu, then my friend's veggie tasting menu... Enjoy! It's worth a visit for a special occasion!

Yelp
This place was a bit of a disappointment for me. Given my expectations for a place of this caliber I found the service gaffes and inconsistency of the food to be problematic. The evening started off strong with a nice assist from the Sommelier on a wine selection and a terrific amuse. We each got a small white sphere, which contained a dirty martini shot. The flavor was nice - and fear not, it was not a full strength martini so no harm done. Really fun and interesting. Appetizers were similarly strong with Tapioca, Caviar, Shrimp, and Coconut. Great texture combinations - the fluidity of the shrimp, tapioca, and caviar were each different and worked perfectly together. The shot of chicken broth which accompanied it was a bit out of place. Beef tartare was also lovely with terrific interplay of flavor from cocoa, green curry, and capers. But once again slightly off as the quail eggs (we had 3 orders) were all somewhat over cooked and didn't provide enough runny yolk to mix in. And, so far, service is on track and dishes are orchestrated well, cleared effectively, and wine and beverages managed well. For Pasta we had Linguini with Percebes (described to us as similar to Mussels), Potato Gnocchi with Sea Urchin, and Foie Gras stuffed ravioli. Really interesting sounding dishes, so I think the conceptual part of the menu seems to work. However, in each case, we found the dish to be ok, but not great. Something was missing or lacking in each one. The Sea Urchin was a bit flat and missing the briny goodness you usually expect. This seems to be a theme, where one or two things are missing to hold each dish back. At this point the wheels started to fall off. We had a fairly big service gap before our mains arrived and then again we found the dishes to be a bit flat. Lobster, avocado, and yuzu looked spectacular but was again missing some punch and flavor. The Lamb was just flat out boring. It was a tough piece of meat and not particularly flavorful. The sauce did not help there either as they were all bland with little seasoning. It almost feels as if the chef is holding back on bringing the flavors out in each dish. From here the wait staff seemed to completely disappear for about 20 minutes after clearing our plates. By the time they remembered about us and asked about dessert it was too late. We passed. The menu for Glass Hostaria looked really promising, but the poor execution of many of the dishes, general lack of seasoning or flavor, and some bad service gaffes were really disappointing.

Yelp
The food here is OUTSTANDING. We were greeted at the door and immediately seated then greeted by Cristina the Chef! The staff definitely works collaboratively here and each person made at least one stop at our table to do something throughout our nine course tasting meal. Do not miss this place if you are a foodie visiting Rome !!!

Yelp
I'll start by saying my meal was excellent. I came with high expectations and most of the dishes I had lived up to it. They started with two amuse bouches, both of which were quite nice. I then had the steak tartare. While nothing to complain about, was not among the best I've had. It did not have any vibrant flavors, more raw steak with a nice crispy consistency but somewhat bland. My second course was the star. It was foie gras ravioli and perfection. Fantastic flavor and consistency. My third course was also excellent. A lamb dish with fennel and sumac. No complaints at all, excellent. So why four stars (and almost three). The service was good but definitely not Michelin star worthy. The waitress took our order and was going to come back to help select a wine, took her over 10 minutes to get back. When she did (and I had asked for advice twice), all she said was I picked a very nice wine (which it turned out to be). Nice but not what you would expect in a Michelin starred restaurant. Also, I ordered three courses while my family had two each. The time between the second and third course was about 20 minutes, which was not good pacing. Even getting the check turned into a more time consuming experience than you would expect in a high end restaurant. The other negative was my family members meals, none of whom were overwhelmed. The lowlights were a shrimp cocktail with raw shrimp (not a big fan of raw shrimp, nor was my daughter). My son's rock lobster, which was also virtually raw and my wife's squad, which, yes, was nearly raw. Maybe it is the chef's specialty, but not to our tastes. Again, my meal was great but overall less of an experience than I was expecting.

Yelp
Start to finish this was a real treat and one of the more inventive Italian meals I've had out. They start with a little taste and brought us a "pisco sour" a lovely little globe filled with pisco nestled atop of a bed of salt. I guess the experience of the ball popping in my mouth sort of disguised the taste because the sensation was so unexpected. It came with a small sandwich of polenta with a lemony goat cheese pairing. This was very tasty and even as the night went on I was thinking about this tasty two bite treat. Next up was a delicious gazpacho with some fresh green, maybe some nuts, and topped with lobster. It was great to have so many texture contrasts, but the soup was so good and the tomatoes so flavorful that it almost masked how delicious the lobster was. It was served with some really toothsome bread accompanied by an olive oil mousse. The flavor of the oil was fantastic, it really came to the fore at the start of every bite and then the heartiness of the bread came to the fore to feel like the taste evolved. Following the soup and bread we had the pasta, and was probably my least favorite dish. I had the linguini with roasted peppers and roe. I thought it was fine, it just didn't have much flavor. You didn't get the pungent sea taste from the roe and the peppers weren't quite as dramatic as I'd hoped for. My wife had the ravioli's with 5-year aged Parmesan and mushrooms, it was stunning! The cheese was very intense and turned into an almost yolk-like thickness. Really a lovely dish. For our main courses we had the black cod, again a delight with just enough of the miso sauce to create a nice glaze, and the beef filet. Really one of the best steaks I've had. It was a sizable center cut that had chocolate seared to the top and a rich chocolaty sauce. Paired with some mushrooms and a little foie gras, the bites with everything together was really delicious. Steak was cooked perfectly on the medium rare side and the meat was flavorful all by itself and just that much better with the accompaniments. For dessert my wife had their deconstructed panna cotta which was almost a cheese, with some of the most intense raspberry pairing. It was on a light cake, which really wasn't needed, but was quite good. One other small complaint I had, was we're spending 25-50 Euros on a dish, but decided to do wines with each course and it felt like the by the glass options weren't that impressive. They were all fine, but with the steak I was really hoping for a wine that would bring out the chocolate notes, instead I got a decent red. Since I'm all in on a decadent dinner, spending a few more dollars on a nice glass of wine would be fine to get something really special. Overall, though, this was a memorable meal, and one that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend if you're looking for a fine dining twist on Roman cuisine.

Yelp
Better michelin experiences than this can easily be found in roma. The food here is mostly good. But i had a bit of a sour experience. One of our orders - a charred mackerel - tasted a bit fishy, like it was either undercooked or not fresh or something. Which is not what i expect from a michelin star restaurant. When the chef came by to ask how things were, i gave her my honest opinion and said everything was delicious but the mackerel was not to our liking. Instead of asking how to make it better or offering a replacement she looked at us and said in a rather defensive tone "that is the taste of mackerel. If you dont like the taste, sorry". WTF??? Listen lady, i may not be a michelin star chef, but ive eaten enuf fancy pants food to know what fish is supposed to taste like. This would never happen at a $$$$ resto in los angeles for sure. So in typical rude italian fashion, she put a sully into our otherwise lovely and expensive evening. For a better michelin star experience in rome, i suggest you go to pipero al rex.

Yelp
I had such a mixed feeling with the place. We had their €100 special modern menu at 21 on a Friday. Good: - food is delicious and very unique. The ingredients of each dish blend together beautifully to great taste experiences. - the wine selection is enormous - much to great for me to comprehend. To an expert probably amazing. - our head servant selected great wine for both my girlfriend and me. - water was inexpensive for a high priced restaurant - €3 for 1 ltr pellegrino. Bad: - Well.. I'm not sure I felt the food was worth the price. It was delicious but maybe slightly to expensive. - glasses of wine was a little in the high side as well. My red was €15 and my girlfriends white €12. - The interior is crazy ugly. It's like you travelled back to pre-crisis times when you needed to buy ugly design to show you had money... From glass tables, semi-glass chairs, ugly lamps etc... Plates are even worse - our desert came in an UFO plate - no kidding... - the place is generally to pretentious - they try too hard... Refer to my furniture comment above for example. But the waiters was the worst. Okay - high class restaurant = well dressed and "stiff" waiters. But that doesn't mix with being unable to explain properly what the food is, sweating like a pig, running around confused and generally being unattentive and slow in serving your guests. Summary: If you can afford it go to try the unique style of food and great wine. However, the reviews give it more credit than we experienced on our particular visit.

Yelp
Although I enjoyed all my meals on vacation in Italy, I'm most likely to remember our unexpected evening at Glass Hostaria in Rome. Thanks to a recommendation on the Eat Italy app, my friend and I found ourselves dining at Trastevere's foremost foodie address on impulse, oblivious to its Michelin star or its celebrated chef. Although we were a little overwhelmed when we walked in, the Glass Hostaria team rolled out the red carpet. Before she opened a restaurant in her home country, Cristina Bowerman spent several years in San Francisco and Austin, where she learned to love Vietnamese, Chinese and Mexican food. Now, at Glass Hostaria, she fuses international flavors with traditional Italian elements to create inventive dishes unlike anything else. (Ahem, squab with berries, gastrique and... peanut butter powder?!) Before we ordered, Bowerman herself came to our table to explain the menu, offering suggestions for an exciting, well-rounded meal; we were surprised by small bites throughout the evening, including a Campari aperitif encased in a thin ball of ice. In the end, I think the risotto with Parmesan butter and black truffles stole the show!

Yelp
I came here on my last night in Rome and it was amazing. As a disclaimer, this isn't your traditional Italian restaurant. I was looking to try something more modern and Glass Hostaria didn't disappoint. It is sort of like Italian food with some French influence in preparation, and portion sizes/presentation similar to any fine dining restaurant. However, they did a great job bringing out the flavors in Italian food and highlighting the freshness of the ingredients. I had the 7 course tasting menu (smaller of the two) and it was divine. Started with an amuse bouche consisting of a fresh clam in either lettuce or pea sauce. They did a great job bringing out the flavor and freshness of the vegetable. I especially enjoyed the beef tartare, which was cooked just perfectly. It was uniquely Italian given the liberal use of really high quality olive oil in the flavoring. Also had a delicious amatriciana ravioli - tasty traditional flavors but not so big a portion that you can't eat the rest of your meal. The service was friendly and attentive and I got by perfectly with English. If you're visiting Rome and looking to try something new, check this place out. The neighborhood of Trastevere is also a delightful place to walk around after dinner.

Yelp
Amazing final meal in Rome. The chef came out and chatted with us about the menu and was a total sweetheart! Our meal was memorable and worth every penny. Save room for the dessert after the dessert.

Yelp
Where to begin.... After a lovely stroll through the vibrant Trastevere you turn the corner in a tiny piazza and find Glass Hostaria. Our evening could not have been better. We were the first diners at 1930 (of course!) but the restaurant was pleasantly busy by 2200. Chef Christina Bowerman surprised us with not one but two table visits. AND she had the time to really hear our ideas about food/cooking (and she shared hers with us!) We were not unique as we saw her check in with many diners. The amuse was amazing. We had a different pasta dish each for our primi course (after a great appetizer (tuna tartar with a "kimchi mango" I think)). A ravioli course was another surprise from the kitchen, followed by more amazing pasta and meat for the second course. Service was polite, friendly, attentive.....without being annoying as it can be in some top restaurants. In the end, we floated out of Glass with our stomachs, heads, and hearts full. :) Don't miss it.

Yelp
Glass hosteria was a delicious! Definitely a place for refined taste buds. they received a micheline star in 2017 of which I was not aware when making the reservation. The service, decor and offcourse the food was definitely worthy of the micheline star. It is quite pricey but definitely worth the stop. Also a good break from the pasta osterias all over rome.

Yelp
Perfect service. Very professional. The whole dinner was a great combination of textures and flavours. First time I've tasted a wine from Calabria and it was very good, especially with the lamb. I you want to injoy a top Italian modern cuisine - this is the place! Bon appetite

Katerina T.

Yelp
Michelin star? I think not. This spot did not live up to the hype for me. After dining at Pipero al Rex the night before, it was a huge disappointment. While the food was presented beautifully, I found some of the plates completely not edible. Overall, the service was friendly. Making a reservation was easy and straight forward. The decor of the restaurant isn't anything to write home about. Gimmicky champagne bottles underneath the ground all lit up. The restaurant is located on a busy corner in Trastevere. We went with the menu tradizionale "but not too much." I don't know if there was any tradizionale about this, perhaps just the one pasta dish. The order of the tasting menu was just strange. Meat before pasta; fois gras as one of the last courses. The tartar was mediocre at best; the meat did not look fresh and it was lukewarm. Flavors weren't outstanding. The pigeon dish was just revolting. The flavors were a mismatched marriage. It looked beautiful, but it wasn't edible. The lamb was completely under cooked; very, very pink almost raw on the inside that it made me really uncomfortable eating it. For a restaurant that has a sweetbreads/offal menu, they had run out of sweetbreads and had replaced it with a sad little fois gras piece. The pasta was very good as well as the dessert. Overall, quite disappointing. I'd come in and maybe just get the pasta.

Yelp
Very good meal and excellent service. We opted for the 9 course Glass Menu with pairings and every dish was excellent. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is due to lack of innovation. For a restaurant in Rome, I would have expected to be presented with the unexpected. Solid!

Yelp
Let me start by saying that I am absolutely in love with this place. There's no doubt about it - get the tasting menu (the 8 course one) even if it's a little pricier than the pre-fixe one. The tasting menu is 100 euros and the pre-fixe is 80 euros, so it just depends if you wanna splurge or not. Although the course items for the tasting menu may change by the time you get there vs. when I post this. But I'm sure either way, it'll be delicious. The atmosphere is very modern, but there are some rustic looking art pieces on the wall, making for a perfect balance. Most of the tables are meant for two, so it wasn't a surprise when the entire place were filled with couples. Definitely make a reservation, cause I saw some people get turned away as walk-ins around 21:00 (9:00). I suggest making a reservation for 19:30 (7:30), it gives you time to settle in, admire the atmosphere and ask the sommelier or waiter any questions. I made it for 19:30 (7:30) and finished around 22:30 (10:30). First Course - assortment of tiny appetizers such as savory pastries, bread with truffle butter (YUM), fish paste with fish eggs on a shrimp cracker, tuna tartare in a black cone (can't remember the flavor on the cone), granola cracker with a small ball of more tuna tartare topped with caviar. Second Course - Ebi (Shrimp) topped with herbs in a subtle sweet liquid Third Course - Hamachi (sliced very thinly) and marinated in a very light soy miso dressing on top of seaweed salad, garnished with caviar. Fourth Course - Spinach or Kale Gnocchi with a sauce I can't quite remember. This was VERY salty and I couldn't finish it. Informing the manager, (he asked why I didn't finish it, and he had profusely apologized for it) Fifth Course - Lobster Ravioli topped with more caviar and white truffle shavings (courtesy of the manager to make up for the over-salted gnocchi, which was very smart and generous of him) Sixth Course - Foie Gras with a pinch of rock salt accompanied with sweet bread. Seventh Course - Limoncello Shaved Ice topped with Cinnamon and Meringue. Eighth Course - Lavendar Semifreddo. I can't give much comment on any of the food because it was all SO DELICIOUS. It was a culinary experience from the moment I stepped into the restaurant to when I left. The staff is stellar, timing is flawless with serving. They pick up your plates within a minute, serving your next dish no more than give minutes later, giving you time to talk about the dish and they're so attentive with anything you may need. They have an in-house sommelier, which is a nice touch. I came with my boyfriend for our anniversary, and we both like different types of wine. I like white wines with a hint of sweetness, but not dry. People who know wine, you already know that's already a difficult balance. My boyfriend likes earthy and robust red wines. I had to make a business call as he was trying to help go back and forth between the sommelier and what he thought I would like. Our sommelier had miraculously figured the perfect wine for each of us on her first try. I wanted to take her back to New York with me, I swear. And if there are any wine lovers like me who are difficult (a little sweet but not dry component), you'll love German Rieslings. It's not as citrusy and as floral as most French ones. There are also wines that pair perfectly with each course if you choose to splurge more. She also wrote down the names, year, and general information about both of our wines before we left. Although I may have lost that piece of paper... Oops. But it's the thought that counts! After that, take a stroll around Trastevere, cause that's when the area picks up - the bar scene, night life, boutiques are still open (some), pastry shops, and just taking a stroll is nice after your meal.

Yelp
This is a Fantastic restaurant! Last night we had duck prosciutto and scallop appetizer and they were both great. We both had the cheese ravioli and was one of the best we have had anywhere. For dessert I had the gelato and it was incredible Be sure to visit when in Rome TDM

Yelp
Believe the hype, this place is wonderful. Decor, location, food execution, vibe, all spot on if you're planning ahead or just dropping in. Saw some spotty reviews which is surprising and showed pretty clearly some people from already crummy States live up to their provincial stereotypes (sorry, had to). This place is located in a the very hip Trastevere area in Rome, a really nice spot, big windows, 2 floors, cozy but chic. It's an interesting mix between people destination eating and walking in. The night we were there (4 of us, 2 kids, a Tuesday) it was entirely full at one point - mostly full for the evening. There are plenty of breakdowns on websites and magazines of the food excellence - Chef Bowerman and her team are sharp and earn that * more than other places I've been. (side bar, the Chef was on site, working the room, even tables that were more interested in their phones and tablets than the plates. She came by several times, very nice to talk to, adjusted the tasting menu for my kid so he could try a different pasta dish, all in all a pleasure to chat with) One dish I want to comment on - the veal heart over mashed potatoes with truffles - pictures help, but not enough. The veal heart was tender, tasted like the softest slices from a perfect ribeye, not butter, but not chewy. Under the black truffles and over velvet mashed potatoes and a jalapeno sauce - it was familiar and at the same time surprising to eat. I could line up 10. Which isn't the say the rest of the tasting menu wasn't superb, it was. The main point is that this place is really nice and the food is really good and for the type of acrobatics they're pulling in the kitchen, it's not particularly expensive in relative comparison to other restaurants at that level in big cities. The food is direct, meaning the flavors of the product stand out and are enhanced by the preparation, rather than hidden. It's delicious and fun, but also makes sure you know you're in Italy, which is nice. The atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant is relaxed and elegant. It's a great meal and definitely worth a visit if you're in the city. (now if she would only come open a 2.0 in DC...)

Yelp
This place was the worst. How it got a Michelen star I do not know. There was food on the walls ordered a bottle of wine and they never repoured wine

Yelp
Without a doubt the BEST restaurant I have ever been to and look at how many reviews I have. The food and wine was out of this world and came to 227 for two people with cocktails and a bottle of wine. The standout dish was the two serves of duck and the foils gras ravioli. The started of beef tartare and carpaccio was also superb. Service was amazing. My only regret was that the cheese platter for 20 euro was not worth the money.

Yelp
We went here for dinner on New Year's Day and had an amazing night. It was our second time here (the previous time 7 years ago). The food is excellent. I recommend the rock lobster and the coffee with baileys gelato. The service was the best I had in Rome. I enjoyed it seven years ago before they had a star and it is still amazing. They even served a Campari ball for an aperitif to start the night off. The restaurant is also very interesting architecturally.

Yelp
The food was excellent. We had the duck tartare, ravioli with 30 month aged cheese and ravioli with foie gras. All dishes including the complimentary bread and avocado salad were divine. The deserts were nice too. The decor was okay (I expected more for the price point) but the food and service compensates for the lack of it.

Yelp
Amazing tasting menu. This was to date one of the best I've experienced. We drank a few bottles of wine and stayed for hours chatting, the atmosphere and food was so good we didn't want to leave. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, and the food was excellent, even with the Michelin price tag. The decor was very cool, I loved the glass floors with the sea elements underneath. The only negative was the bathrooms weren't as well kept as possible. Overall, great experience.

Yelp
We made a reservation here far in advance for 8:30 after we learned the chef had spent some time cooking in SF. We also wanted to do some exploring in Trastevere. We were really excited and chose this place as our fancy meal in Rome. With a Michelin star comes expectations and I can say that any expectations we had were far succeeded. This was one of the best and most interesting meals of my life. I loved the modern atmosphere in the restaurant, something very different for Italy and something we were looking for. The cozy, homey feel can get monotonous after cruising Tuscany and Florence for a week. We started with a glass of Prosecco with the amuse bouche. For starters we had the octopus and beef tartare. Both were probably the best I've ever had. The tastes were so fresh and tasty. The octopus was the most tender I've tried and the fresh herbs made it so fresh tasting. Absolutely amazing!! For the pasta course we shared the foie gras ravioli. This just sounds amazing and it did not disappoint. The only bad thing I can say is that we only ordered 1 to share. It just melted in your mouth. Mmmmmm. For entree we ordered the rack of lamb and lobster salad. Not a surprise but both were hits. The rack of lamb was cooked perfectly and was a surprisingly large portion. I certainly was not complaining. By this time we were stuffed but had to try dessert. The passion fruit cream with popcorn ice-cream was light and a good end to the meal. The sommelier was nice enough to help us out with wine for each course and did a great job pairing local wines. Our evening at Glass Hostaria was one I will remember. It was one of my favorite dining experiences I've had, and mostly because of the food. The service and atmosphere were great but the food was the standout. We will certainly make a point to come back when we next visit Rome.

Yelp
Last night in Rome and we decided to find a close by Michlian starred resturant. Glass hosteria was the closest and they had an opening at the right time. What a surprise, very trendy dacor, friendly staff (took a couple of tries to find an english speaker, not a touristy place but more for locals on a big night out), great service (except near the end it got slower and slower as more people left). We had the tasting menu and I don't regret it at all. The chef did some very innovative things and had solid hits with every one, the scallops in coconut milk and the braised short ribs were both home runs. Dessert was petit fours, which were good but I would have loked to see her innovation turned towards this course. A bit expensive but I found it to be well worth the money. Great neighborhood as well.

Yelp
Good but not great. Ordered the octopus appetizer which I liked but wouldn't order again. Parmesan raviolo was a little rich for my taste but I can see how others would love this dish. Veal tongue and prawn was delicious. Panna cotta dessert was the highlight of the meal.

Yelp
Our second visit and still great. A little bit of a modern take on Italian cuisine. I prefer traditional but the food here is great, as well as the service. It has a deep wine list with maybe the fairest prices in rome. Loved the Parmesan ravioli, beef tartare and lamb chops The owner/ chef Cristina Bowman is ever present and a wonderful hostess Located in center of trastevere on a pedestrian street

Yelp
I can't even give this place a star. I actually threw up in my mouth eating the hamachi carpaccio. There were brown stains on the wall by where I was sitting, and the waiter had a very smart attitude when we asked him a simple question. I recommend you do not waste your money here! Unfortunately I have lost faith in Michelin star ratings.

Yelp
Outstanding! The food was simply spectacular, unique cuisine, with wonderful flavors. Service was perfect with a great atmosphere. We are visiting from New Orleans, LA, USA so we have high standards for quality cuisine. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I loved the food but the staff in the front of the house were rude and totally inattentive . After waiting for over 48 minutes for someone/anyone to come back to our table I got up and walked to the kitchen door to ask of our check. We left angry with no dessert or coffee. It was supposed to be a celebration of out last evening in Rome and my Daughters birthday. Never go to that restaurant unless you want to be treated poorly.

Yelp
Food was great, but I've had better service in a crowded Irish Pub. Neglectful at best, and certainly not on par with a Michelin rated restaurant. Simply disappointing. Not worth the effort.

Yelp
Very inventive restaurant, in a charming neighborhood, terrific service, and of course great coffee.

Yelp
This was the worst restaurant we dined in on an 11 day trip to Italy it was also the most expensive. It is pretentious, over priced and tasteless. The bread was the best item. They were out of several wines and their signature dish. We made a reservation weeks in advance and were put in a back corner. It was unbearably warm with bright lights shining down on you. The service was mediocre but satisfactory.
